Hi jools - aaaargh, you naughty lady, all reading of stories on the internet (except MN) leads to doom and tredipdation.... But big hugs coming your way.

Hi whatsfor tea - good to have you back.

We did it last night - phew, would have got very annoyed indeed if we didn't. Hope valentine's weekend means we do lotas this weekend too.

Hello all,

Jools - i can understand how you feel - I think anyone struggling to conceive makes you feel confused and imagining the worst - its seems to be the nature of the beast. i'm sure your fears are ungrounded and that you just have one of the million bugs that are around (i don't think i have felt totally well since christmas!)

I love the idea about all those Ov sticks and it being fate that you won't actually need them now Brood - I'm hoping that applying for and getting a new job for september will have the same effect for me.

saying that - not feeling that hopeful as already feel PMTish, only CD20 or CD21 but have short cycles so ...... only time will tell but beginning to feel the urge to POAS

hope everyone else is having a good day...

kittycatcat · 11/02/2009 10:59

Iggypiggy i have always had a good sense of smell but it's heightened! And up til yesterday felt so much happier, but think that was the joy of my partner agreeing to TTC

joolsiam [hugs] i hope it is the horrible flu that seems to be going around and nothing more sinister! x

Joolsiam · 11/02/2009 10:54

Was freezing cold all day yesterday at work, woke up in the night absolutely soaked in sweat and am working from home today after another fun-filled night of insomnia, only to have more wierd hot flushes and very mild nausea.

If I had the remotest chance of being PG, I'd be happily symptom spotting. As it is, I'm trying to work out whether I'm ill, this is really really bad PMT, or I'm peri-menopausal (my mother went through the menopause at age 41 ... I've also just read about someone who had an MC at a similar age to me and the shock to her system sent her straight into menopause - gaaaaahhhhhh

iggypiggy · 11/02/2009 10:51

kittycatcat _ I came off pill after 12 years on it and i noticed two things - I felt much happier and 'better', I could smell things better and I had strange chocolate cravings (was never fussed for choc before). So I didn't feel what you are - but guess the hormone changes affect us all differently

Welcome back whatsfortea

Broodzilla - I think you must be right - BUT... the OPK sticks predict a surge - not an exact concentration - so you would never know where you were in the surge if you see what i mean - you might be half way through a surge - or just finishing when you test - so you prob can't exactly pinpoint ov using opk's - if you see what I mean? Maybe with a more precise test you could... I may be wrong - but that is what my inner scientist tells me

Joolsiam · 11/02/2009 10:23

Broodzilla - meant to say last night that, fate dictates - having all those ov sticks means you will never get to use them

kittycatcat · 11/02/2009 08:45

Hi everyone. Happy BD!

I have a question if i may! When you came off the pill (if you were on it) did you become really sleepy, and a bit low? Thanks

whatsfortea · 10/02/2009 20:57

Hi Jools, sorry to hear about your mc, it does sound very similar. My mc was the week before my dating scan, went to A+E about 4am with bleeding and cramps and it all went downhill from there, very traumatic and painful . They couldnt tell me when the baby died, but it must have been a while before if they couldnt see anything. Can't believe I spent however many weeks thinking I was going to have a baby only to go through that, I wish it had all happened sooner if it was going to happen. And since then, not much luck on the ttc front. I go from wild optimism thinking definitely this month, to the depths of despair thinking it's never going to happen. I guess that is pretty common though!

Anyway, all the BFPs on this thread are definite encouragement . And I cant do much now for the next 10 days or so. Except obsess of course

Joolsiam · 10/02/2009 20:36

Hello whatsfortea - I thought I remembered that name

We seem to have had very similar experiences - I'm also 39, ttc my first child. I had a miscarriage in Nov (2 days after my birthday) on the day of my dating scan - would have been 11+5 but I have no idea when the baby died Having a very relaxed 2WW at the mo because DP had some TTC wobbles and wouldn't co-operate - fingers crossed for next cycle

Broodzilla - I very often notice ovulation pains in the early evening, and they sometimes come back the next morning but not always.

funtimewincies · 10/02/2009 19:52

Mmmm, good point. Will think about that one over tea Broodzilla .

Broodzilla · 10/02/2009 19:46

Welcome whatsfortea! Yay for more obsessed people!
funtime, no, I'm an early OVer so AF is still due at the end of the month. I'm not sure why I OV so early, especially as I'm a last-minute girl for everything else in life. Except for POAS, of course. I actually wish my procrastination would make me only POAS when I really, really have to rather than "ooooh, why not?".

I have a confession to make. The other day I thought I was nearing the end of my OPKs (I had about 7 or 8 left) so I quickly ordered a bumper pack of more. They arrived today and as I went to stash them away in the drawer in the bathroom I realized that had I opened THAT drawer earlier I would've found the last bumper pack I ordered in there... untouched! Before you all think I'm a shopaholic I must point out that I use the supercheap tests, so they're only about 10p each. But still... I now have about 80...

Now, I have a very silly question re: ovulation. We all know that the LH gets going in the early hours of the morning, that's why we're not supposed to use FMU, right? Well, doesn't that mean that you're more likely to actually OV at a certain time of day too? As in, if the LH is what makes us OV, surely there must be a correlation between the time of the surge and the time of OV? No?
(Can someone at least tell me that my obsession reasoning is sound?)

funtimewincies · 10/02/2009 19:39

I've just given in the obsessing I'm afraid. DH is well used it by now and largely ignores me or just nods and makes 'uh-huh' noises .

whatsfortea · 10/02/2009 19:33

Hi funtimewincies, I definitely need some avoidance tactics to stop obsessing, at least til next weekend!

Ideas anyone? What does everyone else do, or do you just give in to the whole obsessing thing? I did actually manage to forget about it a bit last month, but I think I'm a lot more hopeful this month having jumped DH at most available opportunities, so the wait is going to seem particularly long.

Tum-te-tum......

funtimewincies · 10/02/2009 18:54

Broodzilla - just looked at the AF dates, if you did ovulate yesterday, are you looking at an earlier expected date?

Do I feel another group test coming on ?

funtimewincies · 10/02/2009 18:52

Welcome back whatsfortea, nice to have (another!) a fellow obsessive aboard .

Sorry to hear about the mc, lots of positive vibes for this month.

whatsfortea · 10/02/2009 18:21

Hello everyone, I sort of asked to join the last thread around Christmas time, but then went a bit shy and didn't post any more . So, can I try again and join this one? You all sound like a great bunch of ladies and I'd really appreciate somewhere to hang out.

A bit of background, I'm 39, TTC #1, had a mc last September at 12 weeks and am now on my 5th cycle since then.

Currently on the 2ww and already thinking about testing even though that is utterly ridiculous as am only 4DPO! Gaaaaaah.

Anyway, hope to get to know you all a bit better this time.

flintski · 10/02/2009 16:04

Afternoon!

apologies for joining and then not making any comments for ages. i always seem to be busy!

queenie, i have been trying for #2 for very nearly a year - I did something really stupid - i thought i would get pregnant quickly as i was lucky to conceive on 3rd month of trying with DD (nearly 5years ago) - so i left my rather stressful job in July thinking i would already be pregnant (i'm a teacher and have to give a lot of notice). Unfortunately it hasn't worked out and I've had to go back to teaching to bring in some pennies and will probably have to take a full-time job in Sept when DD goes to school (unless i get pregnant before!)
phew - sorry, that was all a bit self-indulgent!

Good luck to all those on the BD fest - you all seem to ahve some good ideas for seduction. My DH is desperate for a baby so although i don't go into the 'signs' as it were - he's quite interested in whether its the 'right' time.
i am in 2ww but am so not expecting to be lucky this month. Roll on next week - i hate this bit!

iggypiggy · 10/02/2009 15:30

Hello all

Welcome to Flintski and pinkyblue

Right this is my news - not very exciting actually! So we started our BD fest yesterday on CD5 (I know - early!) and we are going to try a bd-a-thon this month - cos clearly am getting the dates wrong.. Am going to start with the OPK sticks again tomorrow.

Am all optimistic again... is all up and down this ttc business!

wasabipeanut · 10/02/2009 15:08

Welcome Pinkyblue - lots of nice people here to enjoy chatting to and obsessing with!

Funtime and Jools - I know what yo mean about the different generations having very different ideas about pregnancy and everything that goes with it. Funtime I am amazed your mum thinks you should "accept your lot". Mind you, I read some shocking stories on the miscarriage forum about posters mothers who had lost their babies late in pregnancy. Because of the prevailing attitudes they weren't allowed to see their babies to say goodbye or have a funeral. They were deprived of their chance to grieve properly and then given tranqilisers to help them continue to function and basically lived in a daze for years. The way women were treated then was barbaric. Perhaps our mothers have forgotten how far things have progressed.

Well it looks like everyone is erm, going for it this month! You all seem to be roughly at the same point in your cycles - I'll be miles out when my cycle does actually decide to return to something faintly resembling normality.

Nothing to report really - just wanted to see what everyone else was up to but I think I got my answer!

yellowflowers · 10/02/2009 13:58

def having a shag tonight - day 11 for me so still another week of shagging to go.... Will think of you (or rather try not to!) when we are all shagging at the same time!!

OP posts:
Broodzilla · 10/02/2009 13:13

funtime, thank you! From my google frenzy it seems that "some women" do indeed have a dip on the day of OV. I've also done two(!) OPKs today, the one from mid-morning was faint, the one this afternoon was very blank. So it would seem that the BD last night was right on!

Good luck with the insurance go tonight and I've got all my fingers and toes crossed for us (it is, after all, Valentine's week and that MUST be a good sign!)

funtimewincies · 10/02/2009 13:04

Pleased to be of service wanabe . Have some choccie and park your bum!

WanabeMum · 10/02/2009 12:57

Hey ladies,

Glad to see all the BDing is going on. Took me AGES to find this thread as there's no link from the other one to this one. Just guessed coz saw funtime at the end of the title.

Anyway, I'm 8weeks tomorrow so will be starting week 9! it's amazing how fast it has gone though. Still here's hoping i keep hurtling towards the 12 week mark healthy and happy! Didn't hear from the midwife as planned on Friday, probably due to the weather and as she is only in the surgery on a friday i have to wait until this friday now. Grrrr. I'm so impatient.

Hop everyone is feeling happy and positive, glad to see wasabi is back in the race (or at least soon to be).

Take care everyone, i'm checking in on you all even if i don't post xxxxx

funtimewincies · 10/02/2009 12:24

Just read about you bd'ing last night, very well timed (at least I hope so, from my point of view) and we're planning on a spot of 'insurance' tonight too .

funtimewincies · 10/02/2009 12:22

Get bd'ing now Broodzilla ! I've gone back to temping this month, but looking back at all my old charts, there is ALWAYS a dip on mine, just before the rise for ovulation!

You might not have missed it, but you'll have to be quick and jump dh when he gets home!
