Yellow walking is a great way to loose weight and keep you fit and healthy, I also have a dog and have to walk him every day no excuses but always feel better for it.

I had 21 day blood test today so shall hopefully see next week if all is normal. 7 days to go until AF no symptoms yet. I hate to last 7 days as I cannot wait to find out if the BD has worked, not sure we BD as much as we should have (hmm)

iggypiggy · 19/03/2009 13:03

yellow don't obsess over numbers - the most important thing is how healthy / fit you feel xx

yellowflowers · 19/03/2009 12:13

sorry - meant to say 3 stone to be bmi 35

OP posts:
yellowflowers · 19/03/2009 12:12

have just done some research - I would need to lose 3 stone to be bmi 30

iggypiggy · 19/03/2009 12:03

ps - I have lost weight through exercise, cutting down alcohol (well completely at the mo!) - no fancy diets at all... Just the fact that I am out doing something means I am not eating. My BMI went back to 'healthy' in Jan - and as you know I got PG in Feb

iggypiggy · 19/03/2009 12:02

yellow walking is ace for losing a bit and just getting you generally feeling better - I got my dog just over 2 years ago - and because I have to walk him every morning and evening - I started getting fitter and toning up a bit.

Not saying you should get a dog but if you walk everyday it is good. I am walking to work at the mo as well as the weather is lovely. Is a good time to start being more active xx

yellowflowers · 19/03/2009 11:34

Thanks jools - I am inspired. I know that my dh will go mad if I try anything he considers odd like the cambridge diet (I am not saying you are odd) because he already thinks I opbsess about ttc and about weight. I lost 3 stone i 6 months a few years ago though through walking every day and cutting out bread and potatoes (but not pasta and rice) and am going to start that again - am going to invest in good pair of headphones and some talking books and go for a walk while listening to books at the same time so I don't feel the time is wasted.

Queenie - things are improving slowly. We haven't made much progress in the BD department, but I'm trying to just completely ignore that for now and focus on the weight loss. Hopefully not mentioning TTC at all for a few weeks will alleviate the pressure and then I can seduce him with my new slimmer body I've been reading my old antenatal thread and the ladies there (I would have been 31 weeks today ) are seem to be suffering with large bumps and weight / pressure on joints, so that is the incentive I need to be a bit lighter before I put it all back on again as bump - I know my back gets flaky when I am heavier, so if I can lose 2 stone, that means I can afford to put on some baby weight without suffering too much in the final weeks.

I'm still very up and down - it seems that my hormones are all over the place just before and during AF - far worse than before the MC. I used to just get irritable - now I get paraniod, irrational and very very weepy !

Yellow - they say that losing 10% of your bodyweight is a fantastic goal and can bring absolutely enormous health benefits.

Joolsiam · 19/03/2009 11:16

Yellow - the beauty of the Cambridge Diet is that it puts you in a state called Ketosis, where basically you have used up all your energy stores in your bloodstream and a chemical process takes place to make your body start burning real fat pretty fast.

Once that process kicks in (after around 3 days), then you simply don't feel hungry at all. You have to drink a lot of water, in order to pee out the fat / toxins from your body. It works really well for 99% of people. Unfortunately, I have a resistant metabolism, but most people have an average weight loss of one stone in the first month and around 3 pounds per week after that.

Being in Ketosis is not recommended when PG, so they do advise you keep an eye on your cycle and make a habit of testing early so you can start eating carbohydrates again. However, I've heard of lots of people who don't even realise they are PG until around 8 weeks and they have all been fine.

yellowflowers · 19/03/2009 11:11

Hi queenie and jools - I think it would take a bit more than a few weeks to lose the weight I need to lose!

I don't really fancy one of the cambridge diet type things but have decided that as of next week I am going to go for an hour long walk every day.

Jools - are you hungry the whole time? If not how long did it take to stop you being hungry?

OP posts:
queenie1 · 19/03/2009 11:03

yellow - how frustrating for you. but agree with jools that it may be worth trying to lose a bit of weight in the next couple of weeks to bring the bmi down, AND that that might help getting PG too?

jools - you sound like you've done so well on the weight loss! How are things with you and your DH?

Joolsiam · 19/03/2009 10:46

Ray - what you say is interesting, as I get night sweats in the run up to AF.

Does your book indicate how early a miscarriage would happen if it is down to low progesterone ? I've had one, possibly two CPs. My major mc was at 11+5, but very natural and sudden - I did have a teeny brown bleed just before 8 weeks and am wondering if that is when bean died ...

Good to hear from you Queenie

Yellow - tis a pain about the BMI thing Have you thought about doing what I'm doing - ie a few weeks of a really strict diet like Cambridge to bring your weight down. For most people (although sadly not my metabolism), they can lose around a stone in the first month, and lots of people have fallen PG because the diet is so rich in all the vits and minerals your body needs.

I had a BMI of 34 when I saw my MW for booking in at 8 weeks - next time, I want to start out with a BMI of under 30 ideally. Not entirely sure if that will happen though, as that goal is 17 pounds away ....

yellowflowers · 18/03/2009 21:44

My GP rang today to say uch won't take fertility referrals from GP's if you have bmi over 35. Grrr. Understand they won't do certain treatments if too overweight but surely they should do investigations to see whether blocked tubes etc.

Anyway GP said she'd refer me to my local hospital instead which is also a major teaching hospital so should be okay and they have no such limitations on BMI.

funtimewincies · 18/03/2009 20:32

Ray - Very interesting. I'm having 22 day progesterone tests next cycle as part of the 'take as much blood from Funtime as possible' crusade . The nurse asked me to have a think about whether I'd be willing to give Clomid a go if they're low or borderline so you're obviously you're the lady to ask about such things!

Warning Ladies - too much bd'ing is bad for your dp's sperm! Apparently 'bonking like rabbits at ov. time' to use my nurse's phrase can upset, not the qualtity, but the quality. The poor little sperm don't swim as well, so if you ov. later than you expected the poor little mites might not make it.

Dh is taking this news on board and has asked if he can have a little more rest next month .

queenie1 · 18/03/2009 17:13

Hi all - how are you?

yellow - so glad to hear GP visit was positive. As iggy says, 18 weeks isn't so long to wait. Hopefully knowledge that you've got the appointment coming up will relax you and mean you get PG before hand. But if not, at least you know you will get seen by people who can help.

flintski - sorry about BFN. But if no AF yet...don't write the month off completely...

wasabi - welcome back from your trip. Excellent attempt on the BD front. Fingers crossed for you.

yellow - thanks for asking how I am. According to my dates, I'll be 7 weeks on Saturday but I think it's more like 6 weeks tomorrow. So very early days, but delighted I'm still pregnant! In terms of symptoms, I'm totally knackered and keep having to have day time naps. My boobs are massive and continue to feel tender (although this comes in waves) and I've been quite an irritable little madam. The past couple of days I felt a bit quesy but nothing I would call morning sickness. My scan is on Monday. I'm so nervous about it as the only time I've had scans in the past, it's not been good news. I keep telling myself I'm really early and if there is no heart beat it doesn't mean it's necessarily all over. But... In the main, I'm trying to be positive about this pregnancy (and most of the time I feel positive about it) but I'm trying to keep a check on my emotions as I know only too well that it's still very precarious and uncertain.

A quick bit of advice - I've been trying to stay active and have been going swimming two or three times a week. I went last night and woke up this morning with quite strong cramps. (I was doing breast stroke if that makes any kind of difference?). Should I lay off the swimming for a few days?

p.s - forgot to add, interesting stuff on low progesterone ray. Will be interesting to see if it makes a difference for you.

xx

ray81 · 18/03/2009 16:42

Hi guys.

Wasabi - you may have the same problem as me listen to this ...............

I have been temping and found that although temp went up after Ovulation it dropped back down again and was almost the same as all my other temps. Well as i brought the book 'taking charge of your fertility' i know this is a sign of low progesterone so i started researching it and get this NIGHT SWEATS are a symptom as well as many other things too. so yesterday i made an appointment to see doc for today so i could discuss this development with them. Woke this morning and temp had shot up again now i was realy confused 7DPO and peak in temp i def wasnt ov as none of the signs other than sharp pains low down yesterday. Sooo i took this all to the doc and guess what a peak in temp 7DPO can be implanation as more progesterone is produced when egg implants hence higher temp. Well me and doc discussed it and as i have had 3MC before and we have worked out progestrone seems to be the problem she has given me progesterone Gel to put in every day to hopefully if i am pg to maintain it.
another thing is that the low progesterone would also explain why i always fall when i take clomid as clomid does make you produce more progesterone but in normal cycles i dont have enough and progesterone makes the lining of the womb soft so the egg can inbed and if its not soft enough it wont inbed !!!! we have probably been fertilising an egg every month and this is the reason we are not falling. Obviously they havent tested me as yet and if i do trun out NOT to be pg then they will refer me and have the tests done but if i am PG and i dont have a MC then hopefully it will be becoz of the progesterone !!! Anyway wasabi if your temp isnt rising enough you need to see the doc as you may havea problem.

Yellow you go for it this month, i dont always think the docs know best though, i think temping realy helps as at least you have a good idea if Af is going to arrive and you can be sure by temping and doing OPKS as to whether you have Ovulated or if there is a potential problem as it has been with me.

Flintski the only thing i can think is that you have Ovulated later then you thought. ahve you done another test yet may be worth doing another sometimes people dont always get the rise in HCG that early and need to be late before they get a BFP.

flintski · 18/03/2009 16:10

Hello,

hope you are enjoying your bd fest yellow and that the 2ww goes fast wasabi

still no af for me which is really odd - don't even feel like its on its way, its like its just disappeared!! I'm not really thinking that the BFN was wrong as it was on due date - what do you think ladies?

how is everyone else?

wasabipeanut · 18/03/2009 15:01

Hi everyone,

It has indeed been very quiet today. We def need a recruitment drive - all these nice BFP's! I have been cleaning this morning and just had a card making session (thank yous, mothers day and a friends engagement card) and am now attempting to do some proper work.

Not very well clearly as the lure of Mumsnet has already beaten me.

No news from me really - just at the beginning of the dreaded 2WW.

Yellow - enjpy your week

Jools - sorry to hear your cycles are a bit odd. Mine also still seems to be a little tardy given by my experiences this month. Perhaps your diet has affected your cycle more than you realised?

yellowflowers · 18/03/2009 14:51

very quiet today - how is everyone? Maybe just enjoying sunshine. We're in middle of BD fest. Have told DH that every other day minimum until next Mon. Wish I had him making me enthusiastic rather than other way round, though this morning he did wake up and start stroking my tummy to encourage a baby to grow!

Good to see you back Wasabi - sounds like you had a good time

I don't think DP would accept counselling - he's bad enough at talking about his emotions without opening up to a stranger ... Things are still improving though. I think he has realised that his sinking into a depression has badly affected me, and is making more of an effort now.

I'm having strange cycle stuff going on (and there is no way on this earth I'm PG with the lack of BD action !)

I was due to ov a week after starting my diet, but didn't feel ov pains, so was pretty sure I didn't - then wondered if I did and just didn't feel it, as AF came totally on schedule. It was gone within less than 48 hours though - not as clotty and dark as normal and lots of EWCM aswell. My boobs seemed to grow a bit and I got bloated AFTER AF started, which is unusual. I'm now wondering if this was an anovulatory bleed, but I ovulated whilst bleeding. I did have some cramps that woke me up Sunday night / Monday morning and it is normally ovulation pain that does that, not AF ? Very odd. It makes no real difference to me at the mo - I just don't like not knowing what is happening !

funtimewincies · 17/03/2009 16:37

Hi wasabi, I'm not sure that you can buy tests any more sensitive than that. Sorry to hear that your cycle is all over the place at the moment.

The other thing that the nurse tactfully suggested was to stop temping and doing the OPKs and to just bd every 3 days starting the day after AF finishes. Dh's reaction was 'thank god for that, can we?' !

iggypiggy · 17/03/2009 16:29

Hi everyone,

Sorry, not been on here for a few days as have had nice long weekend away in Norfolk - partly at dh's parents and partly in a swanky hotel in Burnham Market most definitely not with dh's parents.

Well my egg finally showed up on day 18 (although no apologies funtime - tisk. Well, the OPK was positive anyway so not quite sure when I ov'd. I htink I have arsed up my 1st month attempt at temping as well. My temps are still pretty much what they were before I ov'd but I keep waking in the night boiling hot after having crazy dreams which I always do after ov so I am obviously hotter. Why isn't my temping working? I take it before I get up or have a sip of water but admittedly not as soon as I wake sometimes - I might lay there for a bit first. Is that important?

Anyway, dh and I have really gone for it this month - managed CD 8,12,14,16,18,19,20 and I'm going to try grab him tomorrow night just in case.

My sense of smell has gone into overdrive but I am assuming that can be attributed to generally high post mc hormone levels. I could smell the cats food this morning at the bottom of the stairs - the kitchen is at the other end of the house. Its mad and actually not pleasant.

Really tired too today although ds has been a pain today which may account for a lot of that. Whiny and shouty in equal measure - finally nodded off for a nap at 3.30pm - nearly 2 hours later than usual. Am also having mild periody cramps but its too early for implantation so god knows what that is.

Yellow - glad your GP appointment went well. They sound really understanding - much better than a lot of GP's I suspect.

Funtime - you know its too early but I can see why you are doing it this way. Where do you get tests more sensetive than 10miu?

Jools - at least you and your dp seems like you're communicating again. Perhaps not enough but its a start. Have you looked into the idea of counselling?

Flintski - sorry it isn't your month my lovely

Right, gotta go - the boy will be waking soon. Hope you are all enjoying the sunshine.

funtimewincies · 17/03/2009 16:07

Have got my bloods back from the mc clinic and all is fine . Now on to the chromosone testing and the nurse also suggested some fertility tests like 21 day progesterone while we were at it. And my poor, delicate, fragile lamb will have to put some sperm in a pot - how will he cope, the indignity !
