Funtime, I will definately try to adopt your idea in point 2 my DH frustratingly sometimes seems not as up for it when it is the best time as he will be too tired or have had a night out or eaten too much!!

Also, I am with you on point 5 and think that as it can take a while to TTC the pressure seems all the more so when you deny yourself a glass of wine or two. I have tried going tee-total and have found it makes not a bit of difference and am now thinking i just need to relax a bit more and hopefully it will happen.

I have been going particularly mad today waiting to find out if this had been a good month for me. I hate this part. I seem to have quite a bit of CM (TMI alert!)and am hoping that this is a good sign. Trouble with me is that I so much want it to happen I will hang onto any little sign and think it could be positive and then am really disappointed by BFN arrgghh!!!

funtimewincies · 23/03/2009 13:03

Thanks ladies !

I'm not really sure what was different this month. Let me think...

  1. I ov'd earlier than usual, so a 28 day cycle (+ve showed up on sensitive test 11dpo of 12 day luteal phase and on Boots own today).
  2. I made dh do the deed as soon as ds had gone to bed and before tea, so that he wasn't too full or too tired .
  3. Luck in that I was fairly sure that I'd ov'd on my good tube side.
  4. Fate was tempted as my due date will be inconveniently close to ds' birthday and Christmas!
  5. I decided to stop 'being good' this month. I ate what I liked, drank as much as I liked and did as much activity (digging and so on) without thinking about the consequences. Interestingly, I hardly had any GF juice and very little ewcm this month.

Actually, I think that the mc nurse talking about doing fertility tests as well scared dh's swimmers into action !

yellowflowers · 23/03/2009 10:03

funtime woweeeeee! Fantastiic news. How many dop was that? Am so chuffed for you.

I ovulated on fri/sat so was right this was going to be one of my long cycles. Had loads of sex though not on fri but did on wed and thurs and sat and sun and used presseed since day 10 so now just have to have fingers crossed and lots of patience for the two week wait.

Pinkyblue123 · 23/03/2009 09:34

Congratulations funtime!!! You must be so excited! Have you any tips, did you do anything different this month?

You are in good hands Ray try not to worry too much (easier said than done I know)It could be the start of them being able to treat a potential probelm and get you closer to a BFP

I am now CD25 so 3 days to go and I am going mad!! I can not help but symptom spot I have been feeling really sleepy and
am hoping that is a good sign (but might be just that I have been doing too much running around, or maybe I am just getting old!)
I hate this last bit as i cannot think of anything else!!) I always think it is difficult to spot symptoms of PG over run of the mill PMT. You would think that after being PG three times in the past I would know by now.

Broodzilla · 23/03/2009 09:24

OMG FUNTIME!!!
It seems that every time I have a few days off the thread I come back to another BFP!
That's fantastic news!

Interesting stuff re:progesterone. I usually get night sweats but haven't since the BFP. Don't know what that means, if anything.

I've got an appointment with the GP today, partly to discuss other things, but will also ask for a toxoplasmosis screen as I have three cats at home. Don't know if she'll give me one.

Baby Broodzilla has a checking in appointment with a Midwife on Wednesday so am very excited about that!

In other news, I've been made redundant from my P/T job. It's not a complete disaster (I have a F/T job as well, just needed the P/T one for extra cash) but will definitely be feeling the pinch. It came completely out of the blue, I just went in to work on Thursday and was told that my role would become redundant. Strange thing is, under normal circumstances I would have been a sobbing mess, but I was completely calm about it. I don't recognise myself! It's like in not allowing myself to get emotional about the BFP, I've completely switched off all emotions.

Oh well, I'll be saving a fortune in Kleenex!

Anyway, hope your Mondays are off to a good start.

iggypiggy · 23/03/2009 09:13

funtime Yay!!!!! Am so pleased for you!

smileycat · 22/03/2009 09:13

WooHoo Funtime fantastic news just in time for Mothers Day what a great omen for you, I think it must be an extra special sticky bean

ray81 · 21/03/2009 22:01

Funtime CONGRATULATIONS that is great news how wonderful.

Well not a good day for me had a call from the haematology department at hos to say have been referred and need to see me on 1st april but wouldnt tell me why. Gyni did loads of bloods so alittle worried about what could be wrong and now thinking cant be PG as if they have found something must be whats causing infertility.
Trying not to worry to much though no point until i know what it is i suppose.

Jools You go for it i hope i does the trick this month.
Re progesterone levels i know it can effect you getting Pg as it effects the lining of the womb however it is not proven to help prevent miscarriages although personally i think it does but doc ws very quick to point out that it isnt proven and not licenced for that use although is aware some units use it for this purpose to rule it out.
Its worth getting your bloods tested if you are worried i must say that after taking the progesterone for 3 days PMT symptoms have all but disappeared, no night sweats, no back ache, not dizzy anymore etc etc so im sure this is one of my problems.

anyway off to bed as went ice skating today and am now shattered. have a nice evening ladies.

Joolsiam · 21/03/2009 20:56

funtime - My Irish DP is celebrating the first Irish Grand Slam victory (rugby) since 1948 and since I've got EWCM on CD 7 , I'm going with it in the hope of great things, but will raise a large glass of Red Nose Red wine to you and your BIG FAT BFP YAYYYYYYYYYYYY

funtimewincies · 21/03/2009 18:21

Well bugger me with a wet kipper, I've got a BFP !

Did the test this morning, then ds wanted to come into our bed for a story before breakfast and I completely forgot about it, having been convinced that my symptoms were phantom again. I remembered after half an hour and swore in a very bad parent way when I saw a line. Convinced that it must be an evaporation line I managed to squeeze out a bit more wee , read it within the proper time and it was definitely there.

Well, it's survived lots of allotment digging and having to carry ds in a fireman's lift to the car after a grade-A tantrum the other day to get to this stage so fingers crossed that this one will stick.

Sorry to hear that your cycle is being so horrible hopefor and I hope that the specialist can help.

hopeforbundleofjoy · 20/03/2009 23:08

day 49- bfn- no af. what to do?
have started clomid again and am seeing the specialist on 8/4/09

Pinkyblue123 · 20/03/2009 14:06

Jools on low Progesterone, my sister had it and suffered one MC then had two healthy pregnancies but had to inject herself throughout them and had her levels checked frequently. It is my understanding that low PG is more of a problem once you have actually concieved to maintain it rather than getting pregnant (but I am obviously not an expert!) If you are concerned you could ask for your levels to be checked out.

Queenie, I had quite a few funny cramping twinges in eary pregnancy with my DS and DD and think it was just bean burrowing. I excercised through both pregancy (when I was not being sick or to big to move) and I am sure it helped to recover after births, you need all energy you can get when little ones arrive!

Hope all are well, 6 days of waiting now for me, feeling really knackered today with slight headache, but that might be down to DD 5.50am wake up call!!

Now I really should get out and enjoy the sunshine beofre the school run!

yellowflowers · 20/03/2009 11:07

I've still not ovulated - think I will in next few days. We have so far had sex with pre-seed on cd 9/12/14/16/17/19/20.

For any of the overweight women here, can I recommend this book:

www.amazon.co.uk/Big-Beautiful-Pregnant-Comforting-Expecting/dp/1569243190

I'm not the author I promise, but have just received it from amazon and read it last night and it is so good and non patronising. it is very american but still helpful.

OP posts:
wasabipeanut · 20/03/2009 09:29

Hi Queenie - swimming really shouldn't really have any sort of detrimental effect on a pregnancy - even a little one. I understand your concern with the cramping but as far as I am aware the two events are most likely to be unrelated. Cramping is pretty common in the early days - your bean is making itself comfy!

If you want to knock it on the head for a few days though I can totally empathise. I remember being 6 weeks with my ds and going to a Pilates class. That night I had a slight bleed - bright red,and was convinced it was the class. Maybe it was maybe it wasn't. I didn't do another one though - ironically I stuck to swimming after that which I really enjoyed actually, especially when I was big.

Interesting notes on low progesterone. I just hope any treatments work for you Ray. Thing is I wouldn;'t be eligable for any of these tests unless I have at least one other mc which, frankly, is a possibility that I'm not prepared to entertain at the moment.

Well done to all those losing weight. Jools even with your metabolism you sound like you're doing well. After my ds was born I put on a stone (yes, afterwards - it was all those biscuits when I was bfing) and I did a very low carb, zero sugar diet to shift it. It worked pretty fast but I noticed that the weight came off in clumps - I'd lose nothing for 2 weeks and then would lose a few pounds almost overnight. Its why you shouldn't weight yourself everyday - its something to do with fat cells and the way they retain their mass or density or something.

I could probably do with losing some but I'm not that fussed to be honest. We chucked out our scales a few months ago as they left a rusty mark on the bathroom floor so I've no idea what I weigh. It's about the same or slightly less than before we had ds though - I still wear some of my clothes from that time. I don't do any proper exercise now thought which is crap - I used to be a gym and swim bunny. I do walk a lot though with ds mainly - possibly my saving grace. We live pretty centrally so most places are walkable.

I'm waffling. I really have very little to say from my side. Am 5 or 6 days post ov (to the best of my knowledge). No symptoms really apart from sense of smell being high but it was like that before ov as well. Have had a little cramping but again, not an unknown occurence. I was so determined that it was going to happen this cycle and that this one wouild be for keeps. Have now got to start coming to terms with the fact that it might not happen.

ray81 · 19/03/2009 21:12

Jools if you have Low progesterone it is unlikely that you will get Pg at all as it softens the womb lining for the egg to inbed.
It hasnt been proven that progesterone causes Miscarriages but my BF had 4 Mc and then was given progesterone with the next 2 Pg and carried to term and has 2 girls. I personally think it is possible to have enough to help it inbed alittle and then it Miscarrys because of this and as i have had 3mc all at 5-6 weeks this could possibly be the prob.

also i only ever fall when i am on clomid and i think this is becoz clomid raises the progesterone slightly which means it can inbed but doesnt give me enough to keep it in there. Did that make any sense.

The best way to tell is if you buy the book 'taking charge of your fertility' and follow the guidelines in there it is such a good book.

Had another high temp this morn !!! 98.9 which is .8 degrees higher than at 6DPO so hopefully good sign.

yellowflowers · 19/03/2009 15:15

I forgot to say that when I went to docs this time she looked at results from blood test I had a few months ago at docs to see whether I was pregnant (I wasn't but went because had very achey boobs for weeks - you might remember). Don;t know what day of cycle it was taken but results were LH 6.4 and FSH 3.1. Anyone know what this means - doc said it was fine and suggested no pcos probelms.

I'm not a dog person but I do like walking.
