Could I possibly be pregnant?

First of all - this site is IMPOSSIBLE to navigate round!

Right, basically I had unprotected sex (well, withdrawal ending) a few times over the new year period (which could possibly have been my ovulating time). Since yesterday I have been really bloated and my boobs are ever so slightly tender at the sides. I know this is probably IBS and muscle ache and I am just thinking pregnancy as I had sex at a fertile time.

Is it at all likely to have pregnancy symptoms so early on? It wouldn't even show on a test yet surely?

I typed my question into google and it directed me here so I hope someone can help me!

Hi Jennifer and shoneshine i too had unprotected sex over the new years period and i have been having terrible symptoms since

I have been to the GP who has tested for UTI and various other infections all of which have come back as being fine

So far i have done 5 pg tests all at the drs office and one first response at home.

I have never been pg before so i am not sure if i should wait to see if i deffo have a delayed period or if i am testing too early?

any advice would be appreciated

I have also been thinking that I am pregnant...I have been peeing loads over the past 2 weeks, my tummy is bloated, I am Shattered and my boobs have been very sore...I have done a test today and it says negative (period due tomorrow) but i had this the last 2x I have been pregnant so will have to wait and see...i am keeping my fingers crossed as if I am not I will be starting IVF. It cannot help but make you feel a bit glum...I know my period is due tomorrow, but I am desperate to find out!

BeckyBendyLegs · 14/01/2009 13:55

I know I shouldn't laugh but imagining you grabbing your boobs to see if they hurt is very funny! I know it is hard but you need to just try to chill for the next three days or you will drive yourself crazy. Test again when your AF is due.

Jennnifer · 13/01/2009 22:27

I've felt light headed, like sorta waves of dizzyness that doesn't last long, and had really mild sore boobs, but unless I grab them they don't hurt, but just tonight I've started getting bad cramping pain on my left hand side really, really low down.

I tested today, my period is only 3 days away - surely it would have shown up?

I don't feel pregnant. But also don't feel like my period is on it's way. I'm usually sufferint bad pmt at this point.

I have no idea when period would be due as I havent had any since giving birth almost 7 months ago. They (periods) returned at 7 months with our other two children. Fertility signs were EWM if you know what that means? I did a clearblue digital, was neg but Im not convinced. Have you had cramps, headaches or a drugged sleepy feeling? Will keep you posted.

Jennnifer · 13/01/2009 14:51

What are fertility signs?

I've had my bloods done this morning and had a check up with the GP at 2pm and the results were back already and my bloods are fine.

So, took another test today! Neg still. As I am due on Fri/Sat - I'm fairly confident I'm not pregnant because surely I'd have had the faintest of lines on at least one of the TEN tests I've taken??

Shoneshine - when is your period due?

Jennifer SNAP! We also used 'withdrawal' on new years eve and Im also worried I could be pregnant! Have felt like my periods going to start for the last week (crampy) and had shooting pains in boobs. last night I felt really drugged, warm face, fuzzy feeling like it was too much effort to smile. Still b/feeding almost 7m old baby but got periods back w the other 2 children at 7 months. Felt sure I was pregnant last night but not as certain if Im just paranoid now. The thing thats making me worry is I had 'fertility' signs the day after. What do you all think???

Welcome to our world

Jennnifer · 12/01/2009 17:05

I don't know how women cope when you're trying for a baby, the wait is painful and I've already spent £20 on tests and that's 5 days before my AF is due!!

We're all different Hormone levels increase at different speeds in different people. If you are pg, it depends on when the bean implanted etc etc.

I would wait until at least Thursday now - hard I know

flynn1984 · 12/01/2009 16:06

Jennifer I tested with a First Response on a Wednesday and it was negative, I retested on the Sunday and it was positive now 18 weeks, could be you've tested too soon.

As for pregnancy symptoms I used to believe that there was no way you could suffer symptoms so early on but I knew i was pregnant (I was ttc for 2 years) I had bloated feeling, sore boobs, sickness feeling and I would get this every month a few days before my AF but this time I knew something was different.

I do hope you get the result you are looking for.

liahgen · 12/01/2009 16:05

with a first response, I would expect a reliable result by now.

however there are ladies on here who are testament to them not being that reliable till day of period or after.

Hope you get the result you want. x

Jennnifer · 12/01/2009 16:04

Tested today with First Response and it was absolutely neg.

Shall I take it I'm not pregnant and stop worrying?

OP posts:
liahgen · 12/01/2009 15:58

today??

Jennnifer · 12/01/2009 15:52

When should I test for an accurate result if AF is due on Fri?

OP posts:
BeckyBendyLegs · 12/01/2009 15:34

Yes.

Jennnifer · 12/01/2009 12:24

I tested today and it came back negetive. I'm not due on until Friday and I used a First Response one.

Am I testing too soon?

The only reason I panicked was my friend said "are you pregnant!" after I described my symptoms but in actual fact, nobody really knows what such early symptoms are as people generally find out when they take a test because their periods late. Except women who are actively trying, but I imagine in this case you would feel every symptom you get as you're looking out for it?

Although it is possibly to get prognant with this method my mil has used this method for 25 years and never got pregnant. Not sure why I know that about my mil

Jennnifer · 08/01/2009 10:11

I spoke to my GP this morning and she told me although it is a possibility, my boyfriend would have to have super ''olympic swimmers' and me "bang on my ovulation day" for me to get pregnant and now I know I wasn't on my ovulation day, I feel much better! Woot!

Fingers crossed for you. If there's one thing MN is its honest.

Jennnifer · 07/01/2009 23:57

If I'm honest I was hoping you'd all say "no chance". Naive really! No point me speculating further, as you say only time will tell and from now on I'll practice safe sex. Thanks for your honesty

Jennifer ovulation usually occurs around 14 days before your period, so your fertile time would be around the 5th of January.

If you're not trying to get pregnant, either use protection or don't have sex. If you are trying to get pregnant, wait until your period is due on the 19th and I hope you get the result you want.

Wonderstuff · 07/01/2009 23:54

Not a widely recognised form of contraceptive but you may well be fine, took me 3 years of trying quite hard

Jennnifer · 07/01/2009 23:53

It says 19 days before you're due so I had sex when I was ovulating. I'm still sticking with the fact that I had flu, was on antibiotics (so threw my cycle out a bit) and he withdrew so therefore not pregnant.

I'm sticking with that!
