devil - I had always planned not to find out the sex of any buns but I have completely changed my mind recently. A few friends have found out before and it was lovely to refer to the little one as he/she before the birth and of course it helps with shopping. I was worried if you were told you were having a boy for example then had a girl it might be weird (make it more difficult to bond) but this happened to a friend of mine and the only problem was they didn't have a girls name ready (oh yes and rachael wore a lot of blue and green at first!). What about you?

DevilsAdvocaat · 12/01/2009 17:24

sorry to those with af, don't let it get you down - november is a wonderful month to have a baby

day 11 in the big conception house: bd planned for tonight, didn't last night as we were knackered (are decorating atm). we actually painted the ahen 'new' baby's room. neutral of course! will you lot find out the sex when you get a bun in the oven?

fatandiknowit · 12/01/2009 16:10

Thank you joy

will examine some threads and decide whether it is worthwhile force-drinking the revolting stuff!!!

irishmumwannabe · 12/01/2009 15:04

Thanks everyone I'm rofl at the airbed queries/stories - especially @ girlwithacurl. my box room is a bit small to bouncing off the bed might mean cracking my head on the wall.

If I do get BFP I'll remember the airbed and then when they grow up gross them out (or maybe not

Joy yes I was a Monday tester - just shows that it was obviously a bad day to test - ah well sure we can have another crack at it in another 4 weeks or so.

BlackCherry · 12/01/2009 14:42

Thanks 'Beanie, I feel exactly the same. I'm a pretty patient person but it's the not knowing that's making me obsess and worry now.

We're going to try with the every other day method this cycle and if we have no luck, next cycle I'll get some ovulation sticks and maybe try preseed.

Joy27 · 12/01/2009 14:25

fatandiknowit, grapefruit juice apparently either increases or thins (can't remember which) your EWCM, the fertile stuff which helps the l'il swimmers on their way and which usually appears (er, in your undercrackers) around ov time.

Search for "grapefruit juice" on this site and you'll find loads of explanations possibly better than this one!

Could be a load of old baloney of course, but it's certainly not going to harm, and as one article points out, increasing your fluid intake is never a bad thing for ttc.

idreamofbeanie · 12/01/2009 13:34

Hi Black Cherry, welcome to the thread.

I can sympathise - only on my second month of ttc number 1 and I'm already going stir crazy with impatience. It's the not knowing how long it might take (or if we can even make a baby) that makes it so difficult - if i knew we had to wait X months I think I could put it out of my mind more easily. I remember when friends were ttc and were fed up after 4 or 5 months and I'd think it's not that long really. Now just 2 or 3 months seems ages.

BlackCherry · 12/01/2009 13:28

Hi ladies,
Can I join in? This will be my 3rd cycle TTC baby number one. Af showed up today, grrrr. Starting to get fed up, but trying to remain positive as I know it can take a while.
Got my fingers crossed to see some success stories on here.

girlwithacurl · 12/01/2009 13:23

I have done it on an airbed loads of times its great fun, you can really use the motion to give you a helping hand! just be careful not to bounce off {grin]

fatandiknowit · 12/01/2009 13:03

I knoW that I should know that answer to this really - but which are the best CD's to BD on...

Just an idea of the date range would be good as I like to plan iyswim

Also could someone explain grapefruit juice to me???

Thank you!

littlemiss26 · 12/01/2009 12:57

joy thanks for the info - sounds quite different to me so far, but who knows it could change!

all the talk of BDing on an airbed made me laugh - i've done it once and its a bit of a nightmare to be honest (this was when we were camping) can't say i'd recommend it!

picking out names and prams is dangerous! i don't think i would even do that now until i'm about to pop! might be better to check out maternity clothes online instead - that'll keep you busy for a while

theboob · 12/01/2009 12:33

Hi all, well looking at my chart I am now in my 2WW ,I have loads of ebay tests in and really want to test

I will try to hold off as i know it would be a BFN now any way even if i was

sorry for all that got AF ,fingers crossed this will be your month

Dh and I have picked names out already and i have picked a pram so I am so happy that i am normal

how do I take my mind off this 2WW ,how do you cope????

Joy27 · 12/01/2009 12:02

irishmumwannabe, sorry about af. You were one of the now-defunct monday testing club too weren't you? Sigh.

Onwards and upwards! I am trying grapefruit juice this month. Tbh I love the stuff (splashed out on Tropicana- credit crunch be damned) so it won't be too much of a trial. Will be interested to see if it makes any difference- I don't normally get much EWCM.

littlemiss26, after my mc I had very heavy, (tmi) clotty but very short period- not my usual at all. It came a week earlier than expected. I had cramping at times between end of mc and start of period.
I didn't have any spotting at all, so maybe you have been lucky. Hope that helps.

idreamofbeanie · 12/01/2009 11:58

Hi Irish,

sorry the witch paid a visit. Hope you have better luck this month. I'd definitely go for a quickie on the airbed - you'll have a giggle at least ! Of course if you get a BFP this month we are all going to rush out and buy an airbed just in case thats the key - hee hee!

HomeintheSun · 12/01/2009 11:52

Hi Irish couldn't you do it in the bathroom while mil is somewhere else.

I didn't bd last night because dh felt sick when we went to bed and then was sick about 2.30, he's had to go to work this morning but now says he feels a little bit better so is up for it later.
I haven't been looking at prams and baby clothes, but have been trying to think who I can get to look after ds while I'm in having the baby I'm trying to conceive, but that's me, if I didn't worry about stupid things who would?

littlemiss26 · 12/01/2009 11:39

Hi girls

sorry to hear some of you AF - its depressing isn't it, but i do agree that you just have to carry on a start again!

for any of you that have miscarried in the past, did you get any wierd spotting as a first period? Just this morning i've been feeling slightly crampy and have had pink light spotting - is that normal?? I usually start my periods fullon with red blood, or is it likely to be ovulation? or implntation bleeding? (i wish!)

anyone else testing soon? - i need something to get excited about when its unlikely to happen to me this month

irishmumwannabe · 12/01/2009 11:34

Thanks bubble but I fear it may not be - have visitors next weekend and the weekend after (mil the second weekend) and the second weekend is usually when I ov so.... hopefully I'll ovulate late, or we do the silent bd on an airbed (never done that before could be interesting)

I do have a spare room but my sis is currently cluttering that up with her rubbish so wouldn't let anyone else sleep in it and nto about to enter that biohazard myself.

I'll probably be quiet enough this month - work is mad busy aruond this time so I'll pop on whenever I can and see hwo things are going. Thsi thread is very fast moving - here's hoping for lots of BFP's.

bubblebell1 · 12/01/2009 11:19

wizzy i had pnd with both my dc. after ds2 it was particularly bad i wouldnt let anyone hold him and still to this day i only let my mil baby sit. didnt leave the house for weeks on end. not getting dressed etc but worse than that was scary thoughts that something was going to happen to me and noone would be able to look after dc. i didnt want to go anywhere or see anyone because i thought they all knew or could tell i was a crap mum. i know, i know, im a nutter. all of that put dh off having anymore. (cant say i blame him) but i managed to convince him that everything will be ok... im hoping! gp and health visitor have suggested various ways of coping after any future babies and im sure if you spoke to yours then they will help you.

hth and not bore u half to death xxx

smallone I tend to agree with joy although as DP works away just now there is also a lot of 'making the most of the nights we have together' going into that decision. We don't have bubble's stamina (I am in awe ) but generally BD 2-4 times a week and maybe a bit more in middle of cycle depending on how often he is home.

Joy27 · 12/01/2009 10:24

smallone, in answer to your question, here's my rather longwinded philosophy:

I am trying to keep things as normal as poss in terms of when/how often, ie fairly often (2-3 times/week) throughout entire cycle. This is because I really don't want it to become prescriptive and "functional". Admittedly I'm a bit more militant about keeping it every other day around middle of cycle. So I would say just continue going for it after ov.

This is very possibly much tmi, but this weekend with af, I even thought "what the hell" and we did it anyway. I wouldn't normally do this (feel a bit embarassed about "ew" factor even after all these years!), but there was something about doing it when it's virtually impossible to conceive, that keeps the ttc crazies at bay.

Also, continuing to have sex after ov keeps mind off 2ww!

bubble, I reckon I'd run out of steam doing it every single day!

girlwithacurl · 12/01/2009 10:02

smallone i keep going until FF tells me I have deinitly ov'd, so after 3 higher temps. If you're not temping this would be 3 days after ov. the Deanna plan suggests day of ov, next 2 days, one day off then once more. I always worry that if I have managed to fertilise then all the romping will dislodge, but I know I am being silly and DP gives me a good talking to.

idreamofbeanie · 12/01/2009 09:43

Morning ladies,

wizzywoo - glad AF has packed up and left, hopefully this will be the last visit for a while! Sorry to hear about the PND and your concerns this time around. We have recently moved to a new city so I'm also worried about the lack of support but am hoping to meet other mums through antenatal classes or mother and baby group - did you try any of that last time?

moss - that sounds very sensible. Good luck for this month and I hope you will be popping back with good news.

Hi to everyone else - this thread is so busy now it's hard to keep up so sorry for missing anyone out.

I can't believe I am only on CD19 - this month just seems to be dragging by. I know I would be better off trying not too think about it too much but I am soooo excited about having a baby I can't stop . It's my birthday next week so hopefully that will be a good distraction. I love this thread for letting me know other people feel the same so if I am going crazy at least I am not alone . I am also thinking about names I like, and DP and I spent a lot of time at the weekend talking about what kind of house/area we want to raise our kids in (recently moved to a new city and renting somewhere small until we decide where we want to rent or buy long-term). Oh come on BFP!
