Idreamofbeanie I'm doing weight watchers to keep the weight down - and ideally off, as I have heard that losing weight (healthy staying in BMI etc) can cause an increase in ovulation. I don't have a big amount to lose, but their core plan is all about healthy eating and no processed stuff. I figure that is a good thing anyway - especially as I have a serious biscuit habit, chocolate habit and a developing crisp habit . My friend lost 5 stone with them and got pregnant on the first cycle and her doctor thought it was because of the weight loss. Consequently I can't wait to get pg so I don't feel guilty about eating rubbish... though obviously clearly I will only eat good things (AHHHH!)

HomeintheSun My line on my cheapie OPK is never as dark - but I get one very pale, then one almost as dark as the other, and its in the middle of my cycle- so that counts for me. As to EWCM I think I'd give my right arm for some of that!

Getting obsessional as I COULD test today with some of those digital tests - but have promised myself I won't until after AF is due (why did I say that??!!) Do you think it is possible that I have imagined myself feeling sick on two occasions? I daren't get my hopes up. I have afew days after trying of feeling hopeful, then... GAH!

Joy27 · 13/01/2009 17:29

fatandiknowit, I'm sure your SIL won't feel put out. She has her lovely BFP so will no doubt be really happy for you when you get yours. Perhaps if she was still trying and you got pg, she'd feel a bit upset, but obviously it wouldn't be your fault. And happily that isn't the case anyway!

Of course, your predicament highlights just how silly feelings like mine are: of course you will have every right and reason to feel overjoyed when you fall pg, and you certainly won't be doing it to rub SIL's nose in anything! Equally, my friends aren't ttc in order to pip me to some sort of imaginary post, rain on my parade or similar... it's just emotion, taking me over, as the song said.

Bottom line is: it's hard when you're trying and not succeeding to conceive. I reckon once I get and keep a pregnancy, whenever it happens, all these silly fears will fade into nothingness where they belong.

bubblebell1 · 13/01/2009 17:25

Hey ladies... Can I join?
Became a member today, do am just learning the ropes (some of the acronyms confuse me though, you've got your own of language )
My bf and I decided to start trying in Dec, currently on cd21 with slight pg (see, Im onto this language) symptoms. Tested at lunch today, as felt very sick, but guess it's too early...
Pregnancy Angels all round !! Mmmwa!

fatandiknowit · 13/01/2009 16:30

joy - i have something similar going on - my SIL announced early dec that she was pregnant with number 1

we had independently decide to ttc from January, but if I have success early on am worried that she will feel like I have spoiled her experience, especially as it took her 2 years

I really hope they won't mind if we are fortunate early on

pickmestalk · 13/01/2009 15:45

Hiya all, can i join? Another big fat negative today, face facts you ain't preggers mrs!

Next months for us all xxxx

earlynite · 13/01/2009 15:38

Anyone PG testing soon? Or am I jumping the gun?!

FifiOK · 13/01/2009 14:52

Joy Don't worry about your feelings - you are not alone. I spend too much time speculating about who of my friends is TTC and therefore who will get pg before me. Even went through about 4 weeks after my MC in Sept hardly speaking to anyone incase they told me they were pg. Also ditto the copying thing, someone I know has just announced they are pg and has an 8 year old & a 15 year old, like me. I suppose when we do get to the announcing it stage, and it will happen, we will be so overjoyed we won't care if anyone thinks we will be copying.

Homeinthesun sounds like a positive OPK to me. Mine was about the same as the control line, but has now disappeared. I hope your DH is feeling better (& stronger) later

girlwithacurl although I have been dehydrating a little bit I've been making up for it later in the day & using preseed to help with the EWCM. Do you know how long to carry on doing OPKs for ? I had a positive on Sunday but think I will carry on for few more days as it's first month of testing. Just sneaking a plastic cup into handbag at work now !

HomeintheSun · 13/01/2009 14:05

I did a opk yesterday and had a dark line but not as dark as the control line, today it gone really faint again could this be because I only left it an hour between drinking and testing?
HD and I didn't bd last night because DH didn't feel well again, but gonna do it tonight, I hope this is going to be ok I'm on cd14 today last month I think I ovulated on day 17 and the month before I think it was 14/15. Found out today that we're having to move house in a month I've got so much to do which will take up the 2ww and more.

Ok, on CD21, had "some" EWCM, but have been doing OPK's and still no positive! arrrggg and its SUCH a pain as well, I usually wear something with pockets so I can slip off to the loo easily to do them (am at work), but today I have a presentation so am in something "smart" without pockets, so had to hide up my sleeve, and was sure that people would be able to guess (loo is quite far away)! and then after all that it was neg. Think I will do another when I get home, but don't want to stop drinking incase it affects my EWCM. Why is it so diffcult and HOW does anyone ever do this by accident! [end of rant emoticon]

dancingqueeen · 13/01/2009 12:00

Joy27, I'm with you on the neurotic thing... I keep sneezing today and then panicking that i've dislodged something! I think its perfectly natural to have those worries when friends tell you they're ttc and you've been trying for a while, my friends told me she's starting in a few months and I really really hope I'm pg by then because I would find it hard if she started trying after me but became pregnant first. I'd be happy for her of course, but would also find it hard. Its for that reason we're not telling anyone at all that we're trying, I just can't bear to think of them knowing that I want a child but haven't managed to get pregnant yet (and this is me after a couple of months ttc!)

Joy27 · 13/01/2009 10:37

Morning all.

I'm not sure about exercise- I have been upping the ante tbh in a general effort to get fitter and healthier (not just for ttc reasons). Quite vigorous boot camp style classes too- is this a bad idea when ttc, and if so, does anyone know why? Surely it can't "dislodge" things? I would have thought it was a good idea...?

Ugh, last night had quite upsetting dream where everyone- friends, sister, colleagues- was pg apart from me, and most by accident. I was crying in the dream and dead jealous. I think this is because a couple of my friends told me at the weekend that they are starting to ttc. Of course I'm pleased for them, but am also having childish feelings which I hate: ie, that if they get pg first it will be sooo unfair when we've been at it for 8 months. Am also very ashamed to admit that I worry others will think we are "copying" if this happens (have not shouted about ttc but I think my friends will broadcast it more openly). I know in my adult rational brain that these worries are ridiculous, but dammit, I can't help it.

What a neurotic beast I'm becoming!

Hobnobfanatic · 13/01/2009 10:34

1dream - try something like Pilates? It's great for toning and is gentle. Good for backs and pelvic floors too - vital for labour and post-birth! Just walking a bit more helps too. As soon as I joined Weightwatchers a few years ago, I lost a stone and got pg on my second month of trying. Then I had to stop going because the diet wasn't recommended for pg women!

FifiOK · 13/01/2009 09:24

Bubble Cheapie sticks seemed to have worked for me this month. Definitely saw a strong line on Sunday and then nothing on Monday. I did however stop drinking at about 10.30 and have a final wee and then keep going with no drinks or wees until 2.30pm to test. In a funny kind of way putting myself through this slight hardship everyday has made me feel like I am actually doing something for the whole PG cause - perhaps I just enjoy being a martyr.I'm also following the Deanna Plan for the first time so we are BD tonight then night off then one final shot. Perfectly timed as DH is away with work tomorrow. Think he's ready for a rest too Good luck with the sticks.

idreamofbeanie · 13/01/2009 08:33

Cheers bubble - I used some ovulation sticks from tesco and they just say not to use them first thing in the morning and to 'restrict' your intake of liquid for a couple of hours before use. I didn't stop drinking (or going to the loo) and they seemed to work fine - I got a very clear positive on day15. I did try to use them at the same time every day. Hope that helps.

bubblebell1 · 13/01/2009 08:16

idream i have put on weight since having ds2.... recently i had probs with my cycle (68 days long) and asked the gp if being fat affected your fertility. she said no not really unless you were morbidly obease. gentle exercise like swimmming and walking are fine and can be carried on during the pregnancy. you sound like your doing all the right things. try not to worry. i know its hard i want the weight to just go and for me to just get pregnant. LOL wishfull thinking

hope your all well and not goin too mad. i am starting to use my ebay cheapie opks today. according to deannas plan this is what i should do. are the cheapies any good? anyone else using them?? do i really have to not pee or drink for 4 hrs??

OMG hobnob ! 3 times a day. I think my DP might leave me!

OK - I have a question for all you ladies. Sorry if this is a bit long. I am a bit overweight - I need to lose about 2 stone to reach a healthy BMI. I have played a bit of hockey over the last 2-3 years but stopped when we moved and also go to the occassional fitness class. I would say I was at the lower end of moderately fit. I don't want to put off ttc until after I lose weight/get fitter and I'm not going to go on a proper diet that might be bad for ttc or pregnancy but I do want to be a healthy mum able to run after my kids and I hate the idea I won't want my photo taken with them because I feel uncomfortable. I have started eating more healthily - lots of fruit and veg and grilled or stir-fried fish or chicken - and am walking the 20mins to work and back each day but I'd like to do some more excercise. My mum bought me the Davina McCall workout dvd for xmas (she knew I wanted to get a bit fitter) and I have tried it. I really enjoyed it but it is hard work and I get hot and sweaty - is it too much? I've heard you shouldn't suddenly start exercising if you haven't done much before but it's not harder than the classes I was doing before ttc -hopefully just more regular? How do you know whether you are pushing it too far. I don't want to put getting healthy on hold - obsessed enough without putting life on hold until pregnant - but obviously don't want to lower my chances.

Hobnobfanatic · 12/01/2009 21:19

Getting Started - if you're worried about the amount of BDing, listen to this: a friend was told by her doc to BD three times A DAY when fertile! I thought you had to do it every other day, so am having to up my game! Poor DP...

DevilsAdvocaat · 12/01/2009 21:01

if i do get pg this month, i may not tell dh so we can do the same next month

gettingstarted · 12/01/2009 20:47

OMG, I can't believe how much you lot BD!! I did it days 12, 13, 14, 15 and 18 this time of a 28 cycle and I thought that was a lot. Bloody hell, I'm going to have to seriously up my game next month - how I tell the donor I am not sure!

DevilsAdvocaat · 12/01/2009 20:37

well dh is in the studio doing music stuff so no bding for me

i can't stop thinking about getting fat with being pg. last time i put on 4 stones

it was baaaad. i lost the weight but i don't want to go through it again.

gah. i think i have pregnancy jitters.

1LittlePrincess · 12/01/2009 20:26

Hi Irish sorry that the witch got you. Damn that biatch!

I def agree with the other regarding the airbed! Give it a go even if its not successful it'll be a laugh! Also if you do manage to concieve then not only wil we all be rushing out to buy airbeds fro TTC purposes only, but you can always name the little one after the place of conception

littlemiss26 After my mc (I was about 8 weeks) I bleed for 2days. I then had a break of about 20 days where I then had a light bleed for 2-3 days pinky coloured and very light. Then had about 30 days and then I had a normal period. That was in April 08 and my periods have only just returned to normal (32-34 days) in the past2 cycles.

Theboob Its so difficult not to test when you know that you have tests in the house. I have stopped buying then now, so will only buy one whe I know AF is late...if i ever get there. Saying that I secretly know that when I next do my weekly shop if I dont have someone else with me then one will some how find its way into the trolly...how does that happen???

Fatandiknowit The best days to BD depend on your cycles. I usually try every other day between CD8-CD16 then every day CD17,18,19 20, nothing 21, then once more CD22 (for TTC). I usually OV CD16-18 hth. Of course anything more than that is a bonus Also as someone else said the Grapefruit juice is supposed to increase EWCM, this is first cycle ive tried it. Heard about it on MN, anythings worth a try right?

I think id do a bunjee jump naked off London bridge is someone told me it would help with TTC

Welcome to the thread BlackCherry hope your stay here isnt too long

DevilsA I actually read that part of your post in my head, but in the Big Brother northern accent. LOL!

Regarding gender I think i'll be finding out, found out with DD as I was so certain she was a girl that I had already been buying girly bits, so wanted to reassure myself and give myself time to adjust had she had been a boy, but I was right and she was a girl.

With the pregancy that I mc I was sure that I was carrying a boy as soon as I got +ve test, unfortunatly that pregancy wasnt to be, so I am assuming that I will get a feeling next time, so will want to find out! I quiet like the idea of having a suprise though, hmm maybe that can be my next distraction for the 2ww: debating wether to find out the sex.

Right im off to start some much needed BD'ing

Take care xxx

DevilsAdvocaat · 12/01/2009 18:35

i didn't with ds.
in fact just after he was born and i was cuddling him, it occured to me that no one had told us the sex and we unwrapped the blanket and had a look!

i don't think we will this time either as dh likes the surprise. drives me crazy tho

fatandiknowit · 12/01/2009 18:31

I'd definitely want to know - I couldn't wait and I'd like to narrow my naem choices down!
