Hobnobfanatic, I believe sperm can last about 5 days in the best CM conditions. The 'eggwhite' cervical mucus (EWCM) is the most fertile stuff (named that way because it is clear & stretchy like raw eggwhite). The next best stuff is the creamy/lotiony cm - some women never get ewcm in their cycles (I didn't this time) and have this as their most fertile fluids instead. Then there's the sticky stuff that appears in the non-fertile parts of the cycle; I think this stuff is the Anti-Sperm of cm, and sperm can only last about 24h in it.
Hope that helps to answer some of your questions.

bubble and hobnob I know everyone is different but I managed to concieve dd 5 days after last bd, in fact I think it was while I was away with the Guides! If it wasn't that dd looked so much like dh I think he might wonder!

Bd'd last night to "clear the way", today is dd's 2nd birthday so prob won't manage it tonight but hopefully will kick off bding tomorrow.

Angel My boobs were alot like yours when I was pg. I would wake myself up turning over in bed. The "pimples" could be mongomery tubercles, if you look them up it might make sense. Good luck

bubblebell1 · 17/01/2009 09:11

Hi All!

I'm hailing from the Sept ttc thread, where quite a few of you have already moved from. Hope you don't mind if I join you?

MissieMoosMummy ttc#2 cycle2 CD35

I'm at 12dpo and starting to feel quite hopeful since last cycle AF arrived 10dpo. My temp seems to be high and rising too. I was going to be strong and wait until monday to test, but I'm weak and have a bagfull of cheapie ebay HPTs burning a hole in my bathroom cabinet. I tested first thing in the morning and imagined the palest, faintest ghost of a line. I think it must be my imagination and it was too dark to check under natural daylight. So another day of suspense for me then.

Oh poor bubblebell1, don't feel ashamed at being disappointed! I probably would have had the same reaction in your position. If you BD'd the day before ov, you still have a very decent chance. My last BD was 3 days before I ovd (i'd given up, then it happened) and I'm not out of the game yet. Just keep Bding until you feel you've covered all bases.

So I've got my fingers crossed for you

bubblebell1 · 17/01/2009 08:24

God i am ashamed of myself!!! i entered my data on ff this morn and its saying i ovd a few days ago (day 11). but we didnt bd yest (we did 6,8,10,12.) now i am panicking that it isnt right or that i didnt bd enough... i thought i would ov after day 14 as my cycle is normally 30 days. now i feel really sad and think that im def out for this month. feel like crying and am quite embarrassed about my reaction.

Hobnobfanatic · 16/01/2009 23:00

Quick question: how long does sperm 'survive'? I have CM today, but DP not here, annoyingly! We BD last Weds - any chance the little critters will still be healthy enough? Will a BD tomorrow be too late. I'm not up on what CM actually means!

AngelFairy · 16/01/2009 21:21

too*

AngelFairy · 16/01/2009 21:20

bubble... I think I might be able to hold out until Tuesday, but if not, Monday morning.
I'm excited, I must admit, but trying not to get my hopes to high.
Appreciate your joint excitement hun, much love x

DevilsAdvocaat · 16/01/2009 21:10

google ANYTHING and you get a scary result.
SERIOUSLY do not read health things on the net.

ESPECIALLY to do with pg, ttc and childcare.

(mumsnet excluded)

Catz · 16/01/2009 21:05

OK - rioja in hand!

If you google alcohol and TTC there are lots of very scary things! I guess there are enough children of drunken nights who are OK!

MensaReject · 16/01/2009 20:30

Hi all, haven't been around much as we've just moved house and everythings still up in the air. I've still got the lotiony white cm (with a few thicker white snotty bits) and slightly tender nipples but i think this is more to do with the Clomid than being pregnant. Its day 28 tomorrow, but i don't know when i'm due on, i've had some dull aches and am incredibely grumpy - typically af symptoms. Hows everyone else?

DevilsAdvocaat · 16/01/2009 20:23

of course you can drink when ttc!
silly!

bubblebell1 · 16/01/2009 19:55

GOOD LUCK for tomorrow getting

pavlov hello and welcome back. glad implant has been removed and you can get on with ttc

devil i have also taken heed. i ordered pizza and a bottle of FAT coke to drown my sorrows

angel ime first response were the best. i used it 5 days early and got a bfp. (first pee of the day) it is however your decision as to wether you test again or wait to see if AF arrives tuesday. whats it gonna be coz im as excited as you are

OP posts:
PavlovtheCat · 16/01/2009 19:38

Catz - I have a glass of wine right now. I will be, and have been ensuring I drink in moderation, but I will not stop completely until I think I am pg. It could take years . The prospect of no alcohol for that long is too stressful. Would not be conducive in ttc!

PavlovtheCat · 16/01/2009 19:34

Ihad my contraceptive implant taken out today (if anyone remembers I joined!).

It took 45 mins as it got 'stuck' and I had to keep focussing on 'its worth it' when the woman taking it out said things like 'oh it took one woman 2 hours to get it out, almost had to be sent to hosp for surgical removal' .

She said 'its going to be rather bruised, I would suggest you take some ibroprofen or paracetamol' ie, its gonna hurt like a mofo! And it does right now.

She said, it can take days for my normal fertility to return, but that it has been known for an egg to be released almost immediately. I told DH that and he looked horrified. Think he thought we would have a couple of weeks or something .

So, there we are. The first stage in ttc #2 complete!

Catz · 16/01/2009 19:26

DevilsAdvocaat - I'm going to follow your advice but stressing about what to drink! There is a nice bottle of Rioja calling to me from the kitchen.... Do you all stop drinking when TTC? We've pretty much stopped since new year (when we decided to start TTC) but really fancy a glass now....it's that or the grapefruit juice!

DevilsAdvocaat · 16/01/2009 18:54

right you lot, i'm giving some of you a light tap on the chops. it is FRIDAY! stressing and feeling sad and anxious is not going to do anything for you. lets enjoy our weekend and worry about it on monday. go and get yourself a glass of wine/cuppa and watch some tv or whatever you need. i vote a bubble bath as that has helped this week to chill me out.

we must stay positive and happy

ps - to you first timers: it will happen x

AngelFairy · 16/01/2009 18:49

Thanks Earlynight and Bubble... x

They are managable but very tender. Like you said Bubble, when my arms knock them or my bf hugs me it's painful. Even turning over in bed I feel the pain of gravity - never had this kind of symptom before.
The peeling I refer to is more like chaffing but without the soreness - very odd!

I have used two Boots own tests and one FR, but none were morning tests, also not due AF until Tuesday.

Thoughts?

earlynite · 16/01/2009 18:40

angelfairy Don't want to get your hopes up but with my first pregnancy i had very sore and peeling nipples. Not this early though, probably about 20weeks.

gettingstarted · 16/01/2009 18:02

boob I'm glad you are like it too. I have been a cow all day and very snappy.

I got far too excited last night and decided I needed to buy a non cheapie test as i felt all certain I was etc. Anyway, it said test in the morning if doing it early, Then over night I decided that I am probably a complete headcase and didn't test this morning. Partly I thought positive or negative I'd not hold it in at work. Anyway, I've been a moose anyway, so I may have well have got a negative. As well as being carted off to the looney bin if I'm not pg, I think its going to make me never trust any symtom again! AHHHH! I feel like I've got awful PMT, all emotional, big boobs - which is probably just cos I've put on weight. Then to top it all off I came home to watch some crappy telly and the sky box has packed up. Nothing til Sunday. Now I'm worried this is all a bad sign about testing tomorrow. I think I need my head read then locking up.... and possibly sedating.

bubblebell1 · 16/01/2009 17:06

hi angel

how you doing? your boobs sound painful. i didnt have dryness but my boobs were really painfull to touch when i was pregnant with ds' even when moving my arms, if they brushed my boobs then it was agony.

other symptoms i had was extreame fatigue. and the smell of a toothbrush made me sick.

what tests have you been using?

idream dont stamp your feet. i know its easy to feel dispondant and then you feel guilty coz others have been trying longer. hopefully soon we will all have BFPs.
