Hi

I wondered if anyone knew if, if you are prescribed Clomid when you ovulate regularly, your chances of multiple births increased. Also, has anyone been prescribed Clomid when they ovulate naturally and had success? I would be really interested to know as I started my first course today.

beanieb · 28/08/2009 19:09

Bucky, are you still around? I am just researching clomid (Again) on the internet and this thread came up.

I actually managed to get pregnant first time round with clomid but then miscarried so am now back on it and on the TWW. Am wondering if it's too much to expect to get pregnant immediately again?

BrandyBaby · 06/03/2009 18:05

Bucky

Everyone is different. I took clomid 50mg on days 5-9 for 4 months, then 100mg on days 3-7 for one month, and this month I took 100mg on days 1-5. Did your doctor explain why those days were best for you? How long have you been on clomid? What dosage are you on? Do you ovulate every month?

Bucky2008 · 19/02/2009 11:07

Why do they vary the days we all take Clomid? My days are 2-6 but the literature that goes with Clomid gives another set of days....

I am on Day 4, so 3 days in to my third cycle. I don't feel good this cycle though, i feel a bit down in the dumps and I think this is hormonal .

BrandyBaby · 01/02/2009 01:14

Clure
Well keep trying! I start taking the opks on day 9 until day 16. good luck!!!

Clure · 31/01/2009 09:38

AM using ov predictors, only prob for me is that if I start using them around 14 days after my period and I don't have another period for 2 or 3 months - that's an awful lot of predictors to go through. I'm kind of using them sporadically also trying to look out for the other signs of ovulation too then using predictors. It was so much easier first time round as periods were roughly every month!

BrandyBaby · 30/01/2009 23:54

I was ovulating even before I started taking clomid.. and clomid helps for the mature eggs to release. I was just wondering if you knew... when a woman reachs over the age of 35, her chances of multiple births. So good luck to you!

*I think you should start taking ovulation predictor kits. Start asap and then you will be able to see if youre ovulating. You can get them at any drug store.

Clure · 30/01/2009 20:24

Does clomid help you ovulate? I know it helps produce more eggs, is this the same thing?

BrandyBaby · 28/01/2009 23:24

Hello ladies!!!

I was on birth control pills for exactly 6 years. After being off for 6 months my hubby and I started ttc. I was put on Clomid 50mg for 4 months... nothing happend. Now this is my first month on Clomid 100mg.

Has anyone had twins while taking clomid 100mg??

Baby dust to all!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hello, I've got consultant apt next month hoping to get clomid again. got pg first time straight away on it. Had low progesterone. My periods have gone awol and awaiting results of blood tests (done on day 2 of period, testing all hormones I think) Am 41 hoping not menopause, would love another DC. Hoping consultant prescribes clomid, am not sure I'm ovulating as cycle is completely up the spout! Good luck to you all

Bucky2008 · 27/01/2009 20:38

Thanks for the update Pinkie. My next appointment is in April if the Clomid does not work. I guess I will have to wait and see if I get the same response.

Good luck. Please let us know when you get your BFP!!

Hi all,

there are so many of us on clomid its quite amazing but the original thread was how successful it is when you ovulate regularly.

Yesterday i went for my consultation with fertility specialist as all my test results are back.

Firstly, thank goodness everything is ok, no abnormalities for me or dh, just unexplained infertility.

AFter looking at my amh levels which is based on ovary reserves it has shown that is fine too, which is why the clomid has had no affect.

My next step is IVF starting in a few days.

Good luck to all of you

Wish you all lots of luck

Bucky2008 · 25/01/2009 18:17

Hi,

I have used clomid twice now, first time I fell pregnant after the 3rd month on clomid, this time I maybe pregnant after the 1st month on clomid.

I will be doing my test tomorrow but all the signs are there, missed period, sickness wtc..

My only concern is that I have had some brown discharge, very pale and a little clear discharge but with stringy red blood....concerned that I am having a miscarriage or maybe just going to have a period!

Hiya

bumping this because I wondered if anyone here had been to their fertility appointment and if anything had been prescribed?

My appointment is imminent and I am still a bit concerned (specially since researching IVF Wales online) that they may just put me straight onto Clomid.

Any developments for anyone?

Bucky2008 · 04/01/2009 20:05

Mine is anything from 8 - 11 days. I took agnus castus for a while and it got longer but I stopped in preparation for my appointment.

This TTC lark is just such a pain, but I know so much more about what might be wrong with me than I ever did before. I just hope the appointment gives me some answers.

Bucky2008 · 01/01/2009 20:08

I had an 11 day LP so not too bad. What about you Beanie?

beanieb · 01/01/2009 19:45

Oh thank you Bucky it's good to get an idea of what happens and in what order.

Sorry to hear about your 2 MCs. Do you know what your Luteal Phase was like?

Good luck with the clomid. The 2WW is a pain isn't it?

Bucky2008 · 01/01/2009 18:39

Hi all, I wondered the same thing myself hence starting this thread. I had a Lap and Dye and Day 3 and Day 21 bloods but nothing medically wrong was found. DP's tests were fine too. The fertility clinic prescribed the Clomid saying it should better my odds. Apparently better quality and possible increase in number of eggs should increase the chances even though I appear to ov normally.

I have had 2 MCs in the last 2.5 years so I know I can concieve, I am hoping that if there is something dodgy with my eggs rather than a genetic abnormality causing the MCs this will sort it out? Having said that only getting pg twice in 31 months is pretty dismal too...so I think I need the help on fertility terms too!

Interesting what Attila said about the Clomid having the opposite effect in some cases, this is the first I have heard about that...maybe I should Google some afterall .
