You'll hear lots of my wise old owl advice re: ttc- I'm old hat now

In all seriousness, we tried for 15 months, 9 months of that PROPERLY trying (ie having sex at the right time ) before I had the miscarriage and the only thing I ever thought of or talked about to DH was TTC and what we could do to make it happen. He must have been bored sodding rigid!!! I even used to get annoyed and act like a brat if he didnt want to have sex- I mean, whats that all about??!!

But when I had the MC I had a really rough time- I mean, its tough for everyone- but I bled for about 8 weeks and ended up haemorrhaging and going into hospital. This was DHs first experience of pregnancy and he held my hand through everything- sorry if this is TMI but the man even changed my pad for me when I was bleeding heavily and hysterical . He was an absolute ANGEL and it completely flipped my head around. People say everything happens for a reason and I think my MC made me and DH mega strong- I love him more than ever since then. It totally made me realise what I have.

We want a baby together but not at the cost of our marriage.

I know I've gone on a bit but just wanted to give you guys a bit of background cos sometimes I can be a bit deep about TTC and always have a bit of advice about it all but its only because we have totally been through the mill with it all!!!

queenie1 · 09/12/2008 22:00

Here you all are! Well done on starting a new thread Cindy

Big hello to Mummy2Olivia - sorry to hear you've had such a difficult time with the ttcing, but sounds like you've now got a great attitude (and one I need to try to adopt!)

Yellowflowers - good to see you back. How was your holiday? I'm impressed with your BDing so far this month.

Spats - sorry to hear AF got you.

I'm feeling a lot better today. DH and I had a good talk yesterday and both know / understanding where the other is coming from. Sometimes I think it's good to have an almighty blow out to clear the air and tension. It certainly led to a good night in bed last night anyway...what a shame it was only CD9!!! Waiting for pre-seed and OPK's to arrive from amazon (I followed your lead cindy!), so hopefully we'll have a festive, fun filled BDing month. I'm not going to worry too much about booze either this month. Will probably help me relax. Also, I heard on radio today that more baby's are conceived in December than any other month, which suggests a bit of alcohol might not be such a bad thing!!!!

mummy2olivia · 09/12/2008 21:17

Seriously- the whole planning your life round ttc is a recipe for disaster. It reminds you that you are failing when you miss out on something because of TTC. Been there, done that.

In the last 2 years I've missed oppurtunities, done stupid stuff, spent stupid amounts of money, all in the name of TTC.

No more- my greek holiday is booked for August 2009 and that is all I am aiming for!!!

pinkie08 · 09/12/2008 21:00

I agree with mummy2 i have been putting things on hold and it hasnt done me any good am doing the opposite this month. and just pretending not actually ttc (yeah right!!!!)

Same dates as me smileycat so we can keep each other sane if you fancy. My cycle is 28 days how long is yours

mummy2olivia · 09/12/2008 19:44

Definitely drink- when you start putting your life on hold for what ifs.......you are on a downward slope! Enjoy the party!

bubblebell1 · 09/12/2008 19:29

Hi mummy2,

spats · 09/12/2008 19:23

Great new thread.
Thinking of you ilovebeingamummy - was shocked to read your news.
AF is here for me today. Trying not to be too disappointed as it means i can drxk on my bday on 20th , at the xmas party and on xmas day, so i guess not too bad. I would have been 7 week on xmas day and probably feeling sickie and tired which i know would be fab coz i would be pg but can enjoy xmas feling fit this way. Roll on 2009 and lots of bfp for this new thread. x

funtimewincies · 09/12/2008 19:20

Back from MIL's. I let you lot out of my sight for 2 minutes and the champers is already out .

Welcome mummy2olivia - lol the pandas.

Ilove - so sorry to hear about the mc, sending huge hugs to you and your dp .

Boosie - blimey, the image of bunnies keeps intruding on my mind for some reason!

I'm beginning to think that I'm not ttc properly now, as I don't use opks or temp or anything . Is it a sign that you've been ttc'ing too long when you can spot the right ewcm at a single wipe ?! I do still drink that the grapefruit juice so hopefully I won't be kicked out of the club for not playing properly .

Managed to persuade dh to do the deed while we were away so the 2ww starts here. Mind you, it's good to see my name moving up the list, making it's way towards testing time.

JUST KEEP ME AWAY FROM THE EARLY RESPONSE THIS TIME!!!

smileycat · 09/12/2008 19:07

Hi ladies found the new thread..great name
Welcome mummy2olivia you'll love it here we're all very friendly
I signed up to the VIP bit on FF today as they're got a special on at the moment 180 days for $25 so looking forward to them telling me I've timed it all right this month, I love the chart overlay bit its amazing how similar my temps were from OV to AF over the last two cycles it means I can see if it has a dramactic change this month, if so could mean I'm pg or at least give me a heads up if AF is coming
On CD6 today so Bding marathon starts in a couple of days. Someone asked a question on what OPK we all use, I use the clearblue digital ones (7 in a box) expensive but I only used 4 last month & I didn't really need to do the 4th just wanted to make sure it was -ive after the +ive, so should get away with 3 this month, means one box lasts 2 cycles

pinkie08 · 09/12/2008 18:04

Well you go girl and keep us posted. I start the OPks this month in 4 days and then my 2ww will be right over xmas and new years eve

mummy2olivia · 09/12/2008 18:00

Have been doing it everyday (cos I seriously missed it while having lap!) but started OPKs today.

pinkie08 · 09/12/2008 17:58

Not really sure, some friends have got pg in that first month so you never know.

have you been using the opks yet otherwise most say everyother day til get +ive on the opks and then to really go for it

mummy2olivia · 09/12/2008 17:56

Am using OPKs for the next 2 months just to make sure cycle has kicked back in. Was on the pill for 5 months- not sure whether I will ov this month. Am on day 12 since my withdrawl bleed- anyone got any experience of this? Do you ov in the cycle after stopping pill or ov later or not at all?

pinkie08 · 09/12/2008 17:48

Hi mummy2olivia,

i think its nice and lightheated here too. i am trying the deanna plan too, but sometimes if the dates clash over a weekend or if we away it doesnt stick to everyother day.

am also using fertility friend to guide me on my way and remaining calm and collected

mummy2olivia · 09/12/2008 17:32

Oh good- nice and lighthearted and positive I hope!! x

yellowflowers · 09/12/2008 17:23

Hi all- can I join you? Heres the low down....

I'm 27, DH is 29. I have a 5yo DD from a previous relationship. We have been TTC (with many problems along the way!!) since Jan 07. We have had a few months off here and there (mostly to miss our wedding which was Dec 07!). DH had a SA in Jan 08 and that was fine apart from slightly low morphology but clinic said it was not a problem. Finally conceived after vits and acupuncture in April 08 only to miscarry at 9 weeks. Unfortunately had to go on the pill after the miscarriage due to Endo flare up but have just had a lap and dye done (still got the stitches in my belly button!) and consultant has told me that there are no longer any restrictions to TTC so we are going for it big style!!

Personally, it seems that we have a few little problems each (my very mild endo, his low sperm morph) and together combined we have the fertility of a pair of Pandas!!

Here as our plan to help us along the way....

  1. Marilyn Glenville 'natural solutions to infertility' vitamin plan. (available on her website- said to reduce miscarriage too) and pycnogenol for DH.

  2. Deanna plan (although after a few weeks off sex due to lap am having trouble sticking to every other day! )

  3. RELAXING- was very wound up about conceiving before. Not saying that I don't care about it now but got a big fat reality check about what was important after the MC so trying to steer clear of the 'obsessed' road- I'll let you know how that goes!!

  4. 2 litres of water a day

Hope you are all well anyway and hope we have good news soon x

iggypiggy · 09/12/2008 17:05

I just bought some online Amazon from Home Health UK - don't know if they are any good

pinkie08 · 09/12/2008 16:55

which ov sticks are you all using.

iggypiggy · 09/12/2008 14:26

Pezzina - I've bought some sticks now... see how easily I am persuaded

Pezzina · 09/12/2008 14:09

Hi Yellowflowers. Glad I've got a cycle buddy . Good luck with all the BDing!

Pezzina · 09/12/2008 14:07

Iggypiggy If you are not entirely sure when you OV then I would suggest trying the OPK's for a month or two.

I wasn't sure when I OV'd and tried them last month. It confirmed that I OV later than I had thought - so a very useful exercise.

I know what you mean about it turning into more of an obsession though and I'm not using them this month - Ihope I know how my cycle works now and what to look out for.

yellowflowers · 09/12/2008 14:07

Hi pezzina - at same stage as you more or less. boring to be here again huh?

re War in the womb - I'll let you know what I glean. Is on the hard disc drive otherwise I'd send it to you when I've watched it. But can't you watch it on bbciplayer?

iggypiggy · 09/12/2008 13:41

No worries c1ndy

am i being silly in not buying opk sticks... I really want to... but I am so worried about feeding my obsession... I keep thinking once I go down that road I'll be even more obsessed than I am now

then again - is not good to not know when you ov...
