Morning all

funtime what a bugger - are they re-scheduling soon?

whatsfortea I did the same as you - tested 3 times as AF was 4 days late... totally undeterred by the BFNs

I have bought this pack

It has a thermometer, Fertility test, Ov sticks and HPs.. Arrived yesterday - am am going to start taking temp too.. obsessed? moi?

yellowflowers · 08/01/2009 09:46

oh wincies - that is rubbish - have they rearranged?

Joolsiam · 08/01/2009 09:30

Becky - interesting that you mention Spinning as an exercise to avoid - I kept going, on the basis that I'd seen PG women in the class before but always grabbed the bike directly under the aircon unit and went at a slower pace than normal. I'm really not sure if I'm brave enough to risk it next time round though

I did a spinning class last night and really went for it - could barely walk when I got off the bike !! It felt good though, as I'm on a serious health, fitness and weight loss drive at the mo.

Sorry to hear about your appt Funtime - I can imagine how disappointing that is

Wanabe - you can be my lucky charm ! Wasn't it you that was convinced I was PG last time when I started talking about hot, fizzy boobs . I'm to say I'm having trouble avoiding the symptom spotting already and I know it is waaaaayyyy too early

Heebychick · 08/01/2009 09:09

Hi ladies,

becky i did pregnancy yoga last time i was pg and it was the best thing i could of done! it really helped me with breathing techniques and focusing etc in fact i got through the first 24 hours with just breathing and visualisation! i'll be signing up asap again!

Hi to all the lovely ladies on the bd-fest - keep at it girls, the hard work has to pay off and you'll be burning calories too - win win!

what'sfortea Welcome and good luck for this month, sounds like you are as determined as the rest of us so you deserve that bfp!

BeckyMcG · 07/01/2009 20:09

funtime - that's so bloody annoying. It really frustrates me when they do that as for them it's just a quick cancellation phone call and for you it changes your outlook not to mention the arrangements you've made to attend.
Cindy - yep - it's just very high impact exercise to avoid - i.e. the heavier weights at body pump or really strenous spinning but running is absolutely fine. Keep it up - sounds like you're really making an effort and if you can lose the excess weight now before conception or in early pregnancy then late pregnancy will be much easier I assume. I'm trying to jog for 30-40 mins every other day and am on healthy eating kick. Post Friday's scan I might be brave enough to believe I'm going to have a baby and sign up for pregnancy yoga! (If I ever get out of sodding work ontime).

whatsfortea · 07/01/2009 19:53

Hello everyone gosh, it's got busy in here again the last few days.

My temp is up today, so looks like am on the 2WW now. Am feeling very positive at the moment, if I dont get a BFP this month then it wont be for lack of trying! Oooh, can I please join the list? AF is due 21st Jan. I am going to do my utmost to resist testing until then, as started testing 5 days early last month (due to all sorts of imagined symptoms) and was gutted with all 3 (well, you have to keep trying?! ) of the BFNs. Bah.

But, a New Year, a fresh, positive outlook and all that, lets hope Jan/Feb are lucky months for us all

funtimewincies · 07/01/2009 18:47

Arse, arse, arse - hospital appointment for tomorrow has been cancelled and bugger all ewcm this month .

Apart from that I'm fine wanabe , sorry for all the naughty words .

smileycat · 07/01/2009 17:33

Thanks for the words of wisdom C1ndy & yes you are right you can read far too much & start your mind thinking in a totally different direction. I've been really good for the last couple of days & havn't looked at anything on the web regarding pg.

I was supose to go for my appointment today with my gyni but heard she was away till Friday & a locom was in so rebooked for Friday & they called me today to rebook again for next wed. Part of me is disappointed that I won't get to see my bean for another wk, but at least now I will be nearly 7 wks & hopfully will get a heartbeat to put my mind at rest.

Heeby I'm so happy for you that you have reached that magic 12 wks & you have seen you baby on the screen it must all seems so real for you now

good luck to all of you on the bd fest & to those on the 2WW can't wait to see all the new BFP's at the end of this month

iggypiggy · 07/01/2009 16:17

c1ndy Thanks - am actually feeling pretty good today - sort of new year new start etc etc.. Will just be glad when af pushes off now - cos the lateness seems to have made her vengefull - you sound v. positive yourself

Heebychick · 07/01/2009 14:59

Hi,

cindy it wasn't me who had cough medicine i'm afraid? not sure who it was? ladies?

Thanks guys re the C-sec - c1ndy this is my second and i also had to have a c-sec with DD1. I had a 36 hour labour, DD was 2 weeks overdue and very large, after lots of pain and suffering i was eventually put on an epidural and a drip to bring on contractions (she was also back to back) and after 12 hours of this drip (and no food or drink i hasten to add!) they finally said it would be best to have a c-sec. turns out she weighed 9lb 12 1/2 oz so probably wouldn't fit hence me not dilating.

so with this in mind i'm thinking 95% of me wants the elect c-sec, although the midwives are pushing for the VBAC option, i don't know, there is the recovery to think about with a toddler to entertain as well as a baby but i think i'd rather be safe and sure.

Hmmm

C1NDY · 07/01/2009 14:19

Jools Thanks, any excuse not to exercise! Thanks its given me peace of mind. I am 3 stones heavier than I should be, so am battling away at the bulge ? so as to speak. Its hard going but I will get there?.

Iggy I know its hard to pick yourself up again and try again (big hugs to you). I am optimistic each month, so am taking a laid back approach this month and am not going to get too (what?s the word) too? passionate about it. I start bd today, so my mission starts again? this is always the fun part I find, but pining down DH is always a problem :0) You will brush yourself when your ready and I am sure you will up for the next bd mission :0~)

Smiley stay away from the internet? I loved reading about my beans development but some sites just give you too much information and give you other things to think about (or worry about!!). So if you can stay away from them to give you a peace of mind? I know its hard. The best thing is to go to a book store and get a book on the development of your baby, it will save you reading about other peoples experiences. Your 20 wks will come soon enough.

WanabeMum Gosh the fertility monitor sounds complicated, which one do you use? Don?t worry about the ranting, I do it all the time, its lovely to let off steam in here!

Wincies Weldone on the bd-fest, I am starting tonight and will try and stick to the DP. Glad your in the spirit of things, I think January naturally gets a lot of people down.

Heeby I had a c-section the last time around and am hoping I can have one this time around too, it seems so much straightforward but I did have a painful labour the first time around. I do know of people going for a natural birth after they have already at a c-section. I would wait till nearer the time, normally the midwives will help you. If this is your first one and there are no complications then you should be able to give birth naturally, that is what our bodies are designed to do. If you have at a c-section before then you will need to decide if you want another one ? I know I do, but nearer the time you can seek advice from the midwives and doctors.

Glad the scan went well and goush doesn?t time fly? 12 weeks already! :0)

Heeby can I ask you a question regarding the cough mixture you used when doing the DP, she mentions one but there are two in Boots which one did you buy? I saw it on an old post that you wrote that you used this cough mixture.

Wasabipeanut every pregnancy is different, so just think positive thoughts for yourself and your little bean growing inside of you, that is all you can do. My DH always says to stop worrying about things you don?t know about (which is easily said than done)? Just have positive thoughts and rest as much as possible. If anything does happen it will be out of your control, so try and not think about. Positive thoughts?.

oops supposed to say "feeling quite positive". so happy i've ov'd i typed too fast and ended up with a word jumble!

Hey Jools didn't say hi to you! sorry huni, good to see that we shall be starting a 2WW together soon! sounds familiar to me, i believe your's ended in success last time so fingers crossed it's a good omen for both of us!

how are you funtime? hope you had a new stash of Green & Blacks for Crimbo to replace that which we ate!

Ahh life is so good at the moment (remind me of that in 2 weeks ok ladies!

WanabeMum · 07/01/2009 12:36

hey everyone,

thanks for the waves! ((waves back)) and the choccies are much appreciated thanks funtime (can't get out of the habit of calling you that!)

Well I finally Ov'd today according to my monitor (CD26!!), feeling wuite positive as managed to jump DH last night and he's well up for another go tonight so who knows, a 2WW i will start tomorrow! exciting!!

yellowflowers · 07/01/2009 11:47

Hi Queenie - I am day 7 too (though my shortest cycle length is 30 days).

queenie1 · 07/01/2009 11:19

Great news on scan Heeby. You must be so excited!

Wasabi - I know just how you feel. Hopefully the early scan will be reassuring for you.

Jools - so glad to hear you're feeling a bit better today. It's so important to keep talking with your partner about all this. Huge fingers crossed that you ov'd and caught it this month - but keep going just in case you Ov later!!

I'm now on CD 7 so the marathon BDing will shortly be commencing. I'm hoping to go a bit Deanna this month but we'll see how much DH is up for. I'm also having a month completely off alcohol which will hopefully help.

Joolsiam · 07/01/2009 11:02

Good to hear from you Heeby and Wasabi Those first few weeks of pregnancy are just the pits for worry aren't they The very thought of going through that with the fear of another MC is terrifying me !!

Better news from me - DP and I have been talking a bit - he never opens up much - and to my surprise, he instigated BD last night - maybe trying so hard not to put him under any TTC pressure has worked Still not sure if I ov'ed on Monday or not - got the pains and the EWCM but my boobs are resolutely not swollen as they should be post OV, so who knows ! I'm secretly hoping that maybe I haven't OV'ed yet, or ov'ed late enough on Monday for the egg to still have been viable last night. Sooo, like before Christmas, I might be on a 2WW and I might not. When I had my CP, we weren't even trying and only BD'ed twice. The second BFP was after BD'ing only 3 times in the month - but the third of those was whilst I was feeling OV pains, so you never know - it only takes one little spermlet !!

I feel better actually having some hope and some reason to knicker check and symptom spot, plus the encouragement that DP is going to co-operate

wasabipeanut · 07/01/2009 10:54

Hi all you lovely ladies,

I am finally checking in after weeks spent in the non web wilderness. First things first. Hoooooge congratulations to Pezzina and Smiley I am so happy to see the BFP list getting longer.
I'm also sad for all those whose AF's checked in over the festive season but am hopeful that 2009 will get off to a good start with more BFP's.

I've been rather worried because, like Smiley I have been noticably short on symptoms. I am more tired, hungrier and need to pee more than usual but I am sure that by this time when I was pg with DS I was sicker than I am now. Apart from the odd surge of nausea I haven't felt any of the perma nausea or vile dry retching I had before. I was kind of steeling myself as I heard it tended to be worse on 2nd pg's so am freaking myself out over its absence. Logic tells me that all pg's are different and that my hormonal make up is different since having ds but I can't stop fretting so have an early scan booked on Monday. It is also possible that I'm remembering it wrong and that it didn't kick in until later on. I didn't have masses of symptoms 1st time anyway - never had the sore boobs or anything like that. This is typical isn't it? As soon as you get a BFP the stressing over that gets replaced with a whole new set of neuroses!

Heeby, I'm so glad to hear you scan was all good. I am 7 weeks today and the 6 weeks ahead of me seems like a very long time!! As for your question on em cs, VBACS and that sort of thing, I had sort of avoided thinking about it yet. I had an em cs with ds following a failed induction and the whole process was pretty traumatic. My waters leaked and labour didn't start so I had to be induced even though I desperately didn't want to be. I was convinced ds wasn't ready and therefore it wouldn't work and 18 hours later got proved right. I've started dreaming about it again and wake up so upset that its just silly really. I'm certainly not looking forward to reliving it later down the line if all goes well. My heart tells me that I'd like to try for a VBAC if poss but not on an NHS timer - "8 hours and off to surgery for you" type scenario. If I'm going to do it then I'd like to feel that those looking after me were committed to it. If not, then I'd rather have an elective cs. I can't go through another failed labour, I just can't. Anyway, its all a long way off yet and I'm trying not to get even too excited until we've had the scan.

Anyway, loads of love and baby dust to all. I have a feeling in my water that its going to be a good year!

yellowflowers · 07/01/2009 10:43

Hi heeby - great about scan.

A question about grapefruit drinking - when do you start drinking it and how much each day?

Heebychick · 07/01/2009 09:40

Hello ladies,

sorry to have been quiet, have been extra busy at work (yawn) and have been doing lots of organising at home - bit of a control freak when it comes to getting things in order!

Good to catch up on all your news, it's great to feel the positive vibes, i will send you lots of baby dust from chilly hampshire!

becky lots of luck for friday, i think the exercise is a great thing and it certainly helped to feel better during my first pg, i haven't done much during this one yet but will start light running and swimming up next week. I think the rule is to just not do too much, do a little and often to keep the blood flowing like you say.

Well i am 13 weeks today! i had a scan on monday and all is well thank goodness, i really hate that bit (be warned all you first time mums waiting for 12 weeks scans!!)when they first lay you down and say 'i just have to have to screen turned to me to check all is well ...' then silence for what seems like an eternity!!!! then finally the screen turns round .. 'and here we are a perfectly formed baby ...!' Phew!

Have told almost everyone now, plus i am showing already (that'll teach me not to tone my tummy after the first pg!) so it's been hard to hide. I feel tons better and my energy is coming back - hooray!

Can i ask you ladies what your thoughts are on c-sec or natuarl birth after an emergency c-sec last time?

yellowflowers · 06/01/2009 16:53

can't speak for anyone else but I have barely felt the needles. Slight prick when they went in and one time it was a teeny bit sore on one foot when needle was in but that is it, and laying down you can't really see the needles i, especially if you keep your eyes closed.

iggypiggy · 06/01/2009 16:29

yellow am so in the realms of obessing already we can def do that together, along with queenie and anyone else really

this acupuncture malarkey - does it hurt - I hate needles

yellowflowers · 06/01/2009 15:52

thanks wincies - I registered last year so as far as I can make out I use the same code this year - will go online and check now though, x

funtimewincies · 06/01/2009 15:50

yellowflowers - have you registered yet? I nearly got caught out. Once you've registered online they have to post you an activation code of some description which could take up to 7 days to arrive. REGISTER NOW IF NOT !

Good to hear that the acupunture went well.

yellowflowers · 06/01/2009 15:36

Hello!

I had acupuncture again today which at least makes me feel like I am doing something. Also even though me and dh both ill I have persuaded him we should bd later so we can try to have all bases covered in case of early ovulation etc. Which at least seems proactive.

Sorry about af iggy - I'm due same time as you (ish) so we can obsess together. Same for queenie.

Also waves to wannabe - good luck this month.

Hi Wincies - not done my tax return either - def going to do it next week.

funtimewincies · 06/01/2009 15:16

Waves to wanabe (shyly offers some choccie she's saved for your return ).

I've come for a peek at the news as a break from trying to file my tax return - why have I left it so late ?

The bd-fest is going well. When I say 'fest', I mean every other day since day 10, which in our world is debauchery of the highest order . Ds seems determined to be the only one as he has a knack of waking up at exactly the wrong moment and it's not as if we're swinging from the light-fittings!

Sorry that you some of you are feeling so down at the moment . Oddly I'm the opposite, quite determined and upbeat, maybe something to do with the hospital appointment this week and ordering my vegetable seeds online at the weekend (delaying my tax again) - lol .
