Wasabi - fingers crossed for good news for tomorrow. I can understand you wanting to prepare for the worst rather than hope for the best but I hope you are wrong. xx

I have a question for anyone around this afternoon - I'm starting to think on and off that things smell stronger - started mid morning when my wee smelt strong and sweet (I know I'm not dehydrated - googled last time and it is associated with hormone levels), then I walked back into the office after a walk for lunch - large open plan office with 50 desks - and could smell cucumber really strongly It presumably belonged to someone eating lunch at their desk - would YOU expect to be able to smell it ??

Yes, I know I am becoming a lunatic obsessive

C1NDY · 13/01/2009 13:48

VillageMum where are you??? (Cindy knocks on the VDU)

Queenie I am doing the DP, and she recommends bding from day 8 everyother day until you get a positive and then to bd a further three days (including the day that you get the positive) for the best chance of concieving.

C1NDY · 13/01/2009 13:45

Queenie What cycle are you? I am on a 28 cycle normally and start testing on day 10, then I test at 2pm everyday until it goes pink - the control box will go darker than the test box.... which one's are you using again... I have used them all so perhaps can help. You should never test in the morning ... not sure why not but that is what they say, as the L...thingy does not show up in the morning. Take the sticks with you to work and after lunch do your test. I have cheap one's that I have brought on Amazon so I can do load more tests if I want to.. I test again in the evening and sometimes at 11 am in the morning whilst at work. Once you have the two lines, similiar in colour, that is the time you are most fertile.

Goush, I hope the above helps and has not confused you further

I read up on the orgasm thingy a while ago, and someone said that they were not a good thing as it causes a bad environment for the sperm. Not sure how they know this, but if you want one then go ahead. I would love to have one everytime but we are so tired with just ttc that actual lovemaking has been thrown out of the window - so to speak. I am using preseed and sipping grapefruit to ensure that I create the 'perfect' enviroment for the little swimmers.

Hey everyone,

Thanks for all your lovely messages and good wishes. It means a lot to me. I had some blood taken this morning and my midwife has promised to chase up for me tomorrow (she is lovely) and has said she'll call me so at least I will know for sure. If my HCG level is low then its game over.

In my heart I don't have a good feeling - I haven't for a while actually. It's very heartening to read stories similar to mine that have had positive outcomes but I also don't want to kid myself. In a way I'm glad we found out now rather than at 12 weeks.

TTc eh? Who'd be mad enough to do it?

Hope you are all having better days and not been caught googlng orgasms at work

Joolsiam · 13/01/2009 11:48

Well I was going to Google the subject, but am at work and don't think it would look to good if internet monitoring discovered I was googling orgasms

yellowflowers · 13/01/2009 11:34

I've read orgasms help but they can't be essential because I bet all the sexually inexperience people who get pregnant - teenagers etc, don't always have them. I mean think how many articles you've read of women who don't orgasm until they are in their fifties - and they have kids.

smileycat · 13/01/2009 11:24

We had read different things & some websites said that orgasms were good & others said that they kill the sperm so we decided that during the really fertile time I would hold back just incase. but.......because I OV'd early in Dec I did have an orgasm on the Thursday thinking that I was not yet in my fertile window & was planning on not having another one till after OV. I OV'd the next day & I think the Thursday shag was the one that got to the egg orgasm and all so I would say yes go ahead & have one

Joolsiam · 13/01/2009 11:15

queenie - the contractions of orgasm are supposed to push more sperm into the right place - well so I've read anyway ... have been told that it is well worth trying to get there, by any means available

smileycat · 13/01/2009 11:11

Wasabi it must be horrible for you knowing that you know your dates are correct but they are telling you something different, but there are a few reasons why you may not be as far on as you think you are...long tubes could be one & the egg took forever to implant.

I have my scan booked for tomorrow at 9.30 (8.30) your time so fingers crossed for me that I don't get told the same as I am also very sure of my dates & I will be 6wk 5days. A heart beat would just make it all seem real at this point & hopfully stop me worring that there is nothing there & it's all in my head.
They may still tell me to go away & book in with a midwife as I'm only supose to be having my ovary looked at not my womb, but I know the gyni & feel that she will be ok with the news & let me take a look

queenie1 · 13/01/2009 11:05

I'm really struggling with these OPKs. I thought they were supposed to take the uncertainty out of things!!?

Back to very light lines (after darker but not that dark line on CD 10) so still BDing away and will continue to try to do it every 2 days until CD 22. I'd be very surprised if I had Ov'd already. Boobs were a bit tender yesterday and I had a few twinges in my womb area but I think that can happen before Ov as well as during and after - am I right? But more to the point: WILL I NEVER UNDERSTAND MY OWN BODY?!? It's so maddening.

Currently CD 13. We did it this morning but it felt oh-so-functional. I've read that orgasmic sex is supposed to be better for conceiving as you are wetter down there (tmi, sorry!). But it's very hard to do that every couple of days isn't it.

Jools - sounding promising and I look forward to hearing more of your obsessions as of tomorrow then!

Joolsiam · 13/01/2009 09:56

You'll be busy tonight then C1ndy

Wanabe - trying not to be the voice of doom - just sensible and not get too excited about symptoms

Having said that, my headache came back and woke me up in the middle of the night - or was that hunger ... I had to get up and eat something, and had to get up to pee in the early hours, which is unusual. This morning, I keep feeling something on the left side of my abdomen and think - oh, is that a cramp, then it goes again

I look at my chart in FF for last time - it was at 8DPO that implantation symptoms kicked in and I think that is tomorrow, so I'm expecting to obsess !!

Thinking of you Wasabi I do hope you can keep busy and distracted for the week - I know how hard the waiting must be already

C1NDY · 13/01/2009 09:36

Wasabi I am so sorry to read this sad news. All I can say to you is you must think positive, I know it is difficult but try and be positive ? they may have got it wrong. I have heard of things like this? so try and be positive.

C1NDY · 13/01/2009 09:29

WanabeMum It is hard not to symptom spot. I am CD14 today and my OPK turned pink yesterday, so am in the middle of ovulating. DH has promised to come home early so that we can try and seal the deal, however I think I may have already ovulated as I feel hot? but am hoping the egg can hold on.

Iggy Am doing really well with the exercising, did another 3 mile run yesterday. I started the technique and if I can get my binges in control then I will sure to lose the 3 stones. I am watching The Biggest Loser on telly and it is spurring me on? I am not that big but it makes me think if I don?t do something now then I sure will be!!

wasabi - some positive messages on other thread. Hoping everything okay for you sweetheart xx

queenie1 · 12/01/2009 21:02

wasabi - I'm so sorry to hear of your scan. What a nightmare that you have to wait another week. I remember when I was PG and I started bleeding (on a saturday), didnt see doctor until the Monday and couldn't have a scan until the Wednesday. It was the longest and worst four days of my life. I kept willing everything to be okay but also, deep down, felt that it wasn't and unfortunately that was the case and I miscarried.

I do so hope your outcome is better. Do come and talk to us all this week whenever you need to. I really do feel for you.

Big hugs. xxx

WanabeMum · 12/01/2009 20:52

Oh wasabi im so sorry your early scan wasn't what you expected. But i agree with the other ladies, don't give up hope just yet. Try and keep it together for another week.

Jools your back must be awefully painful and very frustrating too. I can totally relate on the hunger thing though, had to snack half way through the afternoon and just ate a huge plate of food that didn't fill me at all , nightmare. The tiredness is a symptom too but could be related to you struggling through your daily routine with all that pain i guess. Never say never though.

Well it's almost 9pm and i've visited the loo 8 times so far. It's not normal i tell you. I'm dropping a first morning sample into the doc's tomorrow just in case it's an infection brewing despite the fact that it doesn't feel like an infection and i'm actually going to toilet when i visit the loo. Very odd, but keeping your words of wisdom in mind Jools, not getting too optimistic about it being a symptom.

Joolsiam · 12/01/2009 20:27

As I said on your other thread Wasabi - its by no means over yet - loads of positive stories there and I hope you can add to them next week - here's a large box of Thorntons to pass the time

I've been starving, ravenous all day - had my sandwiches at 11.45 cos I couldn't wait any longer, snacked on fruit all afternoon and had to buy a choccie bar on the way home as I felt so hungry I was going to pass out

I actually went to bed for an hour when I got home - my back was killing me, I had a splitting headache and I was just soooooooo tired I could barely get up the stairs to bed

I'm also finding (TMI) that I'm very wet down at the business end - no discharge, just damp

Have just eaten a massive plate of food and am going back for more - goodnight all

funtimewincies · 12/01/2009 20:09

Sorry to hear that you haven't had a good scan wasabi. Don't want to build your hopes, but it might still be too early to spot the heartbeat, even at just 7 weeks.

Was the scan done with an internal probe? I can't remember whether you were one of us who confessed to having a retroverted uterus, but if you were then early scans done the conventional way are notoriously poor at spotting the right stuff.

Hugs and hope that you're able to stay sane for another week .

C1NDY - ds is also 2 and I know exactly where you're coming from !

Pezzina · 12/01/2009 17:11

Hi Wasabi - I'd just replied to your other thread.

So sorry to hear your news isn't good .

wasabipeanut · 12/01/2009 17:08

Hi all,

Yeah I had my scan today and I'm afraid its all gone a bit wrong. The doc put me at 6 weeks - no heartbeat visible which at 6 weeks wouldn't be a problem in itself as the gestational sac was all fine. The problem is that I am 7 + 5 and very sure of my dates.

I have posted in the pregnancy section to see if anyone else has been there but I am pretty devasted as is dh and I've been sobbing all afternoon. They have said come back in a week if nothing happens but I now just feel numb with misery. I want to get hammered to be honest but daren't just in case someone has made a mistake.

So much for the reassurance of an early scan

iggypiggy · 12/01/2009 15:07

jools that all sounds horrible. re: your back - would highly recommend a trip to the osteopath if it doesn't get better fast - was like a magic cure for me when i had had niggling back pain for years - now 100% gone

queenie1 sounds like you might have ov'd early - keep up the BDing I reckon

c1ndy - I tried the Paul Mckenna thing once - is really good - puts you in right frame of mind. I am prob a stone overweight, but have my fitness classes starting this week again - so am hoping that I can shift the festive (and pre-festive) fat

I am thinking if am fitter and healthier - I might be better placed to get PG - so am also off alcohol this month totally... and to quote bridget jones 'am as much fun as a whelk'

Joolsiam · 12/01/2009 13:40

I've got caught out with the peeing before because I can often get very very bloated prior to AF and then start peeing for England just before she arrives, so don't count that as a symptom

My bloating seems to have started early this cycle - feel like a beached whale and my skirt is painfully tight. What with that and my dodgy back that is making me walk oddly (or waddle !), I look very odd or quite PG - can't decide !

WanabeMum · 12/01/2009 13:31

Thanks C1ndy but is it too ealry for a symptom? I'm only 5DPO today (thought it was 5DPO yesterday but nope). Quietly optomistic but, as Jools knows, I had this before and a few other symptoms but nothing happened. Did think that the egg had been fertilised but hadn't implanted or something. Who knows?
