Not a good weekend for a few people then Sorry to hear about all the AF's - I really though the law of averages would mean at least one person would get lucky

Thanks for all your comments - Funtime, I can really identify with what you were saying. I do need to get DP talking more but it is difficult as he is really not good at opening up and talking about his emotions. I never have talked about my cycle very much and never ever tell him we need to BD because I am ovulating - figure that would be the worst turnoff ever

I reckon I should also start my seduction techniques a little earlier next month (can't bear it during AF)so that it looks more spontaneous

I was hating the thought of only having the next cycle, and then maybe having to refrain because of not wanting a Christmas baby - but then my nephew was a Xmas day arrival and doesn't seem to have suffered for it, and the roads will be empty if I need to get to hospital in a hurry !

Am sat at home pretending to work, but secretly wishing I could borrow someone's toddler and go and make snow angels / build a snowman Lots of the cold white stuff in Hertfordshire...

BeckyMcG · 02/02/2009 14:50

Broodzilla I'm between two lands on this one. One in that I totally agree with you and when I was emotional the other day and crying over nothing my DH said "what can I do to help darling? I'll do anything" to which I replied - "OK, you be pregnant for the weekend so I can go out and laugh, cry and drink 3 bottles of Chardonnay with the girls, stay up till 4 in the morning and not be tired and then spend Sunday hungover in bed. I'll take the pregnancy back off you on Monday". We both laughed (me through my tears!). I also think "why does it have to be all down to us".
On the other hand I want my man to find me sexy, funny, alluring and not to know the ins and outs of everything. I hid the ovulation sticks from my husband while ttc and never wore so many stockings and suspenders and used seduction techniques and did everything I could not to mention ttc, ovulation, 2 week waits etc etc so to him the BFP was magical and a surprise (even though he knew we were trying he had no idea of the extent I was and had no knowledge of my cycle or anything like that). He was the "driver" for this baby by the way and wanted it probably more than me when we started (although of course that's not the case now). On a slightly different note I am worried about him seeing me give birth in case he thinks I'm not sexy anymore.........ahhh, how do we win? I want to be his sexy wife still - not just the mother of his child. How does this work?

BeckyMcG · 02/02/2009 14:39

Morning guys,
Yes - it's very snowy here. I work on the southbank and the view of the snow over the Thames is beautiful. Go on Cindy - reckon you'll enjoy making a snowman today once you get out there - weather like this is made for kids :-) (remember all this TTC is about having the little lovelies to enjoy on days like this).
I am off to make the journey home - it took me nearly 2 hours to get here from where I live this morning (compared to my usual 1 hr 15 mins) and am dreading the trains being cancelled on the way home! Planning to work from home tomorrow.

Broodzilla · 02/02/2009 14:10

We've had about 2 inches of snow over here since I last posted! It's like winter wonderland out there! (And despite what I said earlier, it IS rather beautiful...)

funtimewincies · 02/02/2009 12:48

We have snow and ds can play in it for the first time in his life !

And dh's (away from home overnight) meeting has been cancelled, all good. Unfortunately, having offered advice to Jools dh and I had a major barny last night about lack of nookie at times other than ovulation. It will never be a big enough issue to destroy the relationship but it's putting it under a bit of strain .

Could we get our dh's/dp's together for a communal head-bashing session ?

P.S. sorry abou the grammar Jools, it was supposed to say 'he wasn't' not 'we wasn't' - wrist slapped!

WanabeMum · 02/02/2009 12:32

Sorry AF arrived ladies.

Jools i hope you and DP sort things out, may be corny but may just take a little time?

I'm in work but have to travel 40mins and where i live it's not looking good weather-wise so may be toddling off soon.

Take care ladies xxx

C1NDY · 02/02/2009 12:01

Sorry to hear about AF arriving for all three of you, it sounded very promising.

Hi all, I am snowed in right now. Car won't budge so have decided to work from home and also to cuddle on the sofa with my dd. She is so excited about the snow but I am too tired to go out and make a snow man with her.

Broodzilla · 02/02/2009 11:42

Happy Monday!

Queenie sorry AF got you, and by the sounds of it, with a vengeance too!

Yellow, we're completely snowless in the West. It's ok though, I prefer it that way!

Thanks for thinking of us wasabi and jools and thank you so much for the vino funtime!! Jools, sorry to hear what you're going through... I agree with funtime and wasabi, men do seem to deal with things differently. I know I for one want to talk things through, and in detail at that... (TTC is a prime example, I wanted to know all there is to know - well, as much as poss anyway - on the subject before I even started, and now I'm addicted to MN) Men are maybe more... verbally challenged... but that doesn't mean that things don't affect them. They just don't always know how to deal with it. (Of course, this doesn't apply to everyone!)

I just read Zita West's webchat on the front page, and one of the things she said was for us to NOT discuss TTC in detail with the men. She said that knowing every little detail about our bodies can be off-putting for them. I must say while I know it makes sense, I don't really agree. Why should we have to monitor and obsess and worry and them just have the fun part of BDing? Isn't it bad enough we already have to put up with the hormonal rollercoaster and AF every month... and, after hopefully successfully conceiving, we've got to birth the bean too.

Anyway. Sorry, didn't mean to rant. Just meant to say that he could just be feeling overwhelmed and not knowing how to cope and taking it out on you?

Also, as this is the forum for TMI and as I'm right in the middle of AF, just wanted to make sure you're all familiar with the Mooncup? It's the best thing since sliced bread and has made my AF so much more bearable. If you haven't already got one, get one!

queenie1 · 02/02/2009 10:44

My wretched AF arrived with a vengence on Saturday morning. Full red gush which is not particularly normal for me. Then on Sunday morning I woke up is a sea of blood as AF had completely soaked through my tampon. Nice. It was very clotty today and I'm wondering if there was something perhaps going on. Whatever though as the end result is the same. Another f*cking month without conceiving. It's been nine now since last MC...DH said we should stop actively trying for a few months and have sex when we want to instead. I sort of agree...but then again...

yellow / broodzilla - sorry to hear AF got you both too. Lets hope one or all of us is luckier next month?!?! yellow - does sound like you had a CP...which while crap is good in that it shows your body began the process.

jools - I so know what you mean. Me and DH have been through some quite rough patches in the context of ttc. And I know how maddening it is to feel that you missed a month. Agree with funtime on all this completely. I guess you need to have a long chat together and talk about how the MC and ttc has affected you both and talk to him about how you feel. Buy a nice bottle of wine (particularly if there is no 2ww pressure) and have a romantic night in? lots of love to you. x

yellowflowers · 02/02/2009 09:11

ooooooh I love snow!
Anyone else?

funtimewincies · 01/02/2009 19:23

Sorry to hear about AF yellow and broodzilla (passes a large glass of wine apiece).

Jools - I know that all relationships are different, but dh and I have experienced the same thing several times over the years of ttc. On the occasions that dh has been willing to talk about it, the main issues have been...

  1. That he was horrified to find out how much a miscarriage hurt him. It seems obvious to us that it is devastating, but he never expected it to hurt so much when it was so early and he wasn't the pregnant one.
  2. That we wasn't ready to 'take the risk' again yet.
  3. That sex had become simply about making babies. Like you, dh and I have never been swinging from the ceiling every 5 minutes and so, inevitably, we tend to only do the deed around the crucial time.
  4. That I expected him to be in the mood when my body demanded (so frustrating this, as I can't help but see it as a 'wasted' chance ).

All I could do was back off for a month and try not to think about it too much out loud .

Now he's desperate for me to be pg again. MEN!

wasabipeanut · 01/02/2009 15:54

Not a good news weekend then

Broodzilla and Yellow - sorry to hear that this month isn't a worker. Yellow - especially feeling for you after a few days of thinking something may be afoot.

Jools - I'm so sorry to hear that you and your DP are having problems. It's so difficult I don't know what to say. I can understand why you feel that time is running away but your dp also sounds unhappy. It may be a naff suggestion but have you thought about counselling? I'm sure your do was devastated by your mc as well as you. I think women have better coping mechansims in terms of being able to talk to people whereas men have a tendency to clam up and just internalise everything. Maybe this is causing problems?

Whatever happens I hope you sort things out

Joolsiam · 01/02/2009 14:47

Sorry to hear your news Broodzilla and Yellowflowers - our bodies are evil things for deceiving us like this

Not a good weekend over here Couldn't get DP in the mood and co-operative despite trying hard Thurs, Fri and Sat morning - ended up having a huge row. He can't tell me why he has a problem at the mo - I ended up telling him that if he wouldn't let me at least try to start the family he promised me when we got engaged, I'm not sure I could go on living with him, resenting our childless state and wondering what might have been.

I ovulated last night - and wow, it was the most painful thing I've experienced since the MC. Both sides hurt - makes me wonder whether I've wasted two eggs this time. This was all going on whilst sat in a restaurant with friends and trying to be normal whilst I was crying inside at the thought of another egg being wasted. We were staying over with friends, so no chances to chat, no making up - he has just swept it under the carpet as men tend to.

I'm not sure where we go from here. This is the first 2WW I've had since June where I've not been knicker checking and symptom spotting and it will be very strange. If I do manage to conceive, I'll now be giving birth at 40, which is a bit of a psychological hurdle, especially bearing in mind I don't want an only child

Trying to hold on to the positives - I've put on nearly a stone since I conceived last time and that has simply GOT to come off and I will have a healthier pregnancy for it. I also know exactly what my cycle is doing and it is back to its normal clockwork regularity.

Sorry for such a long post but it felt good to get that down. Having done the shopping and blitzed the kitchen, I am now going to watch the episode of ER that I sky plussed, then go for a spinning class at the gym

kittycatcat · 01/02/2009 11:14

broodzilla and yellowflowers am so sorry your AF arrived [hugs]

yellowflowers · 31/01/2009 23:21

Hi broodzilla - well we're still in this together - about lunchtime period came properly, could no longer be classified as even heavy spotting, and then had a few hours of my typical very strong backache though usually it is so distracting I have to sit down and not do anything for a few hours and this time I could carry on chatting to people over lunch and walking round a gallery, though I was aware of it. So a bit different but maybe thatis the acupuncture, one of the aims of which is to make my period not painful.

So guess it was a cp and looking online internet cheapies actually pick up hcg in much lower quantities than even first response so must have only been 'pregnant' for a day or so to show on that and not on any others.

Am disappointed and actually have been exhausted all day so to bed now. So on to next month...

Broodzilla · 31/01/2009 19:24

Yellow that must be SO frustrating! I hope it all sorts itself out soon, one way or another.

I'm out for this month, as AF arrived this morning, right after I got a BFN.

Oh well, there's always next month...

I've started temping now in the hope that I'll at least know for certain if and when I've OVed. That should stop the obsession with POAS, then again, I'll probably end up spending hours squinting at my temps instead...

Anyway, I'm sipping on a whiskey to drown my sorrows.

Happy Saturday night to everyone!

yellowflowers · 31/01/2009 10:50

Still no answers. Did internet cheapie this am and i thought a line (faint but clear) and dh looked at it and said that it was just an indentation. After about ten mins line disappeared - is this normal in internet cheapie?

Still spotting though not much. Browny pinky watery now, not the bright red of a couple of days ago.

yellowflowers · 30/01/2009 22:40

good luck queenie and broodzilla and hi everyone else. I will try with mornign pee too but if anything the blood has got a bit more periody - though did two more internet cheapies today and both have the same very faint line. But I also bought a first response and did it in the loo in a dept store today so late pm urine and it showed nothing. I think it must be cp. The smell of my friends lilliesather house today though almost made me throw up, and the mini cabs air freshene, though that could happen any time to be honest as they smell so foul.

Have a nice weekend everyone.
xx

wasabipeanut · 30/01/2009 16:34

Aw Smiley - that's so cute. I echo Funtime's sentiment about being happy to look at the scan pictures of someone I actually like!

Jools - you will NOT be the only one left. You and me are both going to do the double. I know it's difficult to think positive sometimes and given my recent experience I actually have no idea why I am but I have an absolte faith that this is going to happen. I'm sorry you've had some practical difficulties this month. I think shifting some weight is a really positive thing to do. It sounds like you just need to get back into the habit of lurve again - regardless of whatever time of the month it happens to be.

Yellow - hmmmm, this is all most odd. I had a fresh red bleed when I was pg with ds the day before I was due and a couple of days afterwards. I'm sure I don't need to tell you to try again tomorrow morning with morning wee!

Well I'm loving the new look MN - especially the logo! Well today is my last day at work - been frantically tying lose ends up and trying to line up freelance work. Looking forward to a nice chilled weekend.

Lots of love to everyone (especially those in 2WW!) xx

Joolsiam · 30/01/2009 15:28

Wow, what a weekend ahead - Queenie, Broodzilla and Yellowflowers - you all sound like you could be in with a chance. That creamy lotiony CM is an excellent symptom

Fingers and toes (but not legs !!) crossed for you. I'll be the only one left at this rate, till I become perhaps the first person to graduate this thread for a second time

C1NDY · 30/01/2009 15:25

May you all have a great weekend. Looking forward to hearing about you all...

C1NDY · 30/01/2009 15:23

Broodzilla goush are you a day late then?? why not test with a First Response with your EMU? I got a positive on my OPK!! and then a week later got a very faint line on the First Response, I think it was 8 or 9 days before I was due. Am now officiall got a BFP! My fingers and toes are crossed for you.

I am not doing anything exciting at all. DH is off to see Arsenal play at the Emirates he goes everytime they are at home. That means I will be hanging out with my 2year old DD and no doubt we will be playing cooking again!!

Off on Sunday to see a new born baby girl... I had a cold for the last couple of weeks so couldn't go earlier, so am looking forward to holding the tiny bundle in my arms. Will be hard not to say anything but DH and I have promised to keep it quite till we get a scan and everything is okay. Week 12 will be my 40th birthday week, so I am hoping it will be the best birthday present ever!!

You have a good un and speak to you soon

Cindy

TGIF!!!!!

Yellow is the line today stronger than the one yesterday? I can't help but think that a line is a good sign, even with the bleeding, if it's not behaving like your normal AF.
Have you tried an OPK? (I'm sure I read that someone picked a BFP up on the OPK first!)

AF hasn't showed up yet. No signs at all. In fact, (TMI alert) I've got lotiony CM, so it's not even a little bit red. Don't know what to make of it, really. I got a BFN yesterday (my cycle is usually 26 days, and today is 27.

The only "symptoms" I've had (but they would apply equally to AF) is that I've been ravenous, seriously I just can't stop eating. Scary! And, I've been crying at everything, but I do that anyway.

Ho hum. I did succumb and bought one of those Clearblue conception date indicator HPKs, but I've promised myself I'll only use it if/when I get a BFP on the cheapies.

Positive thinking, positive thinking...

Anyone got any exciting plans for the weekend? (Apart from BDing and POAS?)

C1NDY · 30/01/2009 14:34

Yellow seems very strange... fingers crossed for you though that the little bean sticks.

Queenie a good sign eh??
