Hi All, have been on a couple of ttc hreads but due to sad arrival of af yesterday and x2 negative pg testa thought I'd start a September one.

We are ttc#2 we already have dd(2) and had a mc in September this will be cycle 3 since mc.

Mc hit me hard, more so than other adverse life events for some reason also head full of other stuff such as trying to complete a Post grad Diploma in Cognitive Therapy!!

Anyway want to try to be optimistic and hopeful and not (too!) obsessive this month!

Anyone else fancy joining?? xx

I don't even have any tests.... mind you if I did have any in the house I'd be in the bathroom right now hahahahahaha! It's like chocolate biscuits, I can't have them in the house as I've got no self control. I'm such a skinflint I'd wait until I was definitely late so I wouldn't waste an opk, and I don't consider myself properly late until cd34 or 35.

smallone · 07/01/2009 14:42

I fear we may have been separated at birth! You're much stronger than me about not testing tho! I'm thinking about testing tomorrow am. That would be my longest possible cycle day. What do you think? Clearblue reckons its over 99% accurate on the day AF due but I'm not so sure.

HeadFairy · 07/01/2009 14:37

We really are living parallel lives smallone, I had exactly the same horrendous bug, with bronchitis an' all.... not using persona but I reckon I ov'd on about Christmas day so managed one pathetic bd before collapsing back in bed, and have been dosed up to the eyeballs with paracetamol since! Spooky eh?

HeadFairy · 07/01/2009 14:35

Hiya smallone, you're still my cycle buddy! We can hold hands together, I'm trying not to think about it - lalalalalala

smallone · 07/01/2009 14:32

Hi everyone, can I join you in my hour of need? Have been ttc#2 for 5 cycles now, been on some of the earlier boards but was so p'd off with it I've stayed away for this month. I'm now on CD 28 of a 26-30 day cycle. I've got a CB +/- test in my drawer that I've told myself will be not be negative so I can't use it till I'm pretty sure I'll get the right result. Practically threw myself into the loo this morning to I could get rid of that FMU before thinking about breaking out the test. I was hopeful but I've now got af cramps.

I'm using the persona monitor for the first time this month. Its what I was using as contraception when I conceived DD so I'm hoping it'll help me out now. According to persona I ov'd day 9/10 but I was really ill so no bd but then I had a second surge christmas day, when I did manage it! I'm hoping this was a delayed ov coz of illness, but since christmas I've had a bronchitisy fluey thing so if I am pg poor bean will have been cooked by raging temp and pickled with paracetamol!

Good luck to everyone else

Gosh - maybe I'l send a suggestion for a spell checker on the post pages - might spare my blushes

irishmumwannabe · 07/01/2009 13:44

Hello Joy and vtiredmummy welcome to the ttc party!

Sorry to hear abotu you DH vtired - I hope things work out ok for you both.

Joy I'm with Head on this one - have a glass of wine - one won't do any damage and might even help (less stress = poss BFP)

Minx I would be one for my herbal teas - there are some lovely ones on the market. Mint tea is good for an upset stomach so might help with the morning sickness, Ginger is also good as Head was saying.

I am drinking rooibos (sp) at the mo, and also drink camomile as well - helps to get to sleep. DH is drinking Puerhh tea which has blackcurrant added to it - it is also very good if you like Berry teas. Then tehre is a Berry tea that Tetleys make which I used to love but can't get over here in Ireland.

Tetelys adn Twinings are all good with teh herbal blends. Tesco have some as well I think but never really tried them . If you are near a Whittards tehy might be able to advise you on other blends - but not sure.

Hope this helps adn I'm going back to work befoer you all think I am a complete freak with my various teas

Joy, good luck holding out. It's really hard but feel free to come on here in your moments of weakness and I'll talk you out of it Like you said, the only bummer is avoiding all those things you're not supposed to have. My philosophy on that is that ttc is bad enough without having to deny yourself everything. I've been drinking the past two weeks, nothing major, I haven't been drunk, but I've had more than two units a week as is the recommended max level during pregnancy. My thinking has always been it's crap enough so why deny yourself too much (I would stop at getting blind drunk) but so many people have got drunk without knowing they're pg and haven't damaged their babies. The problems occur with sustained high levels of drinking. Of course once it was confirmed I would stop drinking straight away but until that point I figure a glass of wine a day won't kill.

I was thinking about baths today too, I had a lovely two hours after I'd dropped ds off at the cm and before I had to leave for work so I decided to have a nice leisurely bath. I do like a nice hot bath too, but I made sure it wasn't scalding as I'd normally have it, but I do think that's about the only concession to ttc that I'd make. That and obviously contraindicated medications of course!

So all in all, I'd have that glass of wine if it helps you relax a bit. It really won't do any harm.

WarmSeaBreeze · 07/01/2009 13:13

Congrats Minx soo pleased for u!! xx

mosschops30 · 07/01/2009 12:59

welcome to joy and vtired good luck

Just to let you know that all clearblue proiducts are 20% off in sainsburys but I resisted buying one just yet, as I promised myself no more until friday.

Fantastic news minx what a great way to start the new year

Joy27 · 07/01/2009 12:50

HeadFairy, I think you're right. After all, if I am pg then I will still be (hopefully!) in a week's time. Also, those little pee sticks cost a bomb!

I'm going to try not to get hung up. When I was pg last year, I managed to go for 7 weeks without even realising (long story). So unless I get actual morning sickness, I'm not going to speculate.

It's so frustrating waiting though! Especially as I would now feel guilty having a glass of wine to relax.

Thanks for the advice.

HeadFairy · 07/01/2009 12:32

Hiya joy, welcome. I'm a stickler for holding out on the testing front. If it were me, I'd hold out until next weekend when your flatmate is out again then you can dance around and sing and shout! You're also more likely to get a bfp if you still haven't started af, I've had some longer cycles since my mc, I used to be exactly 28 days with the occasional 26 dayer, but since my mc they've ranged from 25 to 31 days. I don't want to dash your hopes, but I'm a firm believer in testing when you kind of know it's going to be a bfp anyway. So much nicer!

I've been wracking my brains the past couple of days trying to remember what I felt when I was pg with ds. Now I've been pg it's so hard to remember what it's like at the end of the 2ww when you're pg for the first time iyswim. Sorry, I haven't put that terribly well.

Good luck with whatever you decide to do though. I hope it's a bfp for the new year!

Joy27 · 07/01/2009 12:21

My bf and I currently share a house, is what I meant to say.

Joy27 · 07/01/2009 12:20

Very late to the party here, but can I join in?

Will put my "story" in the usual lingo:
I'm on CD29 of my 5th cycle since MC last July (got pg within weeks of coming off pill last May). We're ttc#1.

My stomach is starting to flip nervously because I haven't had a cycle longer than 28 days before now (since MC have been 28, 24, 26 and 24). I keep waiting for my period to start but absolutely nothing so far.

I don't have any pregnancy symptoms, apart from acting like a complete bitch to my bf and feeling like an emotional jellyfish... But that could just be the time of year, or indeed pmt, or ttc doing my head in. But at the same time, I also don't have any physical af symptoms- no cramps or sense of "movement" in my uterus which I get before period.
Have noticed (tmi) quite a lot of cm in recent days- to the extent that I keep feeling like af has arrived. This could mean nothing, of course.

As I'm not sure of my cycles (was on pill for years so don't even have a history of cycles), and as they have varied over last 5 months, I don't know whether to take test or to wait a few more days.

The other factor is that my bf currently share a house and I wouldn't want our housemate to know I was pregnant. Equally, I don't want to whisper news- if there is news- to bf behind closed doors. Would want to dance/sing around house etc (well perhaps not literally but you know what I mean!). He (housemate) is away at weekend so that would have been a perfect time to test and share moment (if indeed... etc) with bf. But drat it, bf is also away.

Am waffling now- but just wanted someone to "talk" to!

vtiredmummy - sorry to hear about your husband's redundancy. That's tough- I hope things work out. If you are pg, I'm sure things will be fine. He'll have 40 weeks to look for more work. Cold comfort I know...

HeadFairy · 07/01/2009 12:05

Oh wow minx that's brilliant news, congratulations! That name change must have been lucky for you indeed!!!!!! I'm pretty sure fruit teas are fine, just double check they don't have any caffeine, but I drank buckets of the ginger and lemon tea in my first trimester to help with morning sickness as my doc had recommended it. Good luck with further testing, but I have a good feeling about this one!

Welcome vtiredmummy, sorry to hear about your dh, I hope he manages to find another job soon.

I'm pretty sure af is on her way to me, had a teensy bit of spotting yesterday, nothing today, but it usually does go that way. I'm not in the least big surprised after I was wiped out for three weeks with the cold of the century, right bang over my fertile period, so we only managed one rather pathetic sesh.

Still, I got my new pushchair today so I've got a new toy to play with

bubblebell1 · 07/01/2009 11:47

im sorry i dont minx. i dont really drink hot drinks but a friend of mine only drinks herbal tea. i think they are made by tetley. and she gets them when she does her weekly shop in the supermarket.

vtiredmummy · 07/01/2009 11:45

Hi all, can I join?

Bit of a wierd situation, finally decided we would start trying for #2 a week or so ago, did the business lots, and yesterday DH got made redundant. So don't really know whether to be excited or worried.

Anyone in similar situation???!!!

Here's mine:
vtiredmummy ttc#2 cycle 1 CD19

minxofmancunia · 07/01/2009 11:35

At work can't concentrate feel sick although I think it's with nerves!

Does anyone know anything about herbal teas? Am taking NO risks this time, cutting out caffiene but like my hot drinks and like some herb/fruit teas, does anyone have any info?

Thank you so much to everyone on this thread, everyones lovely makes me feel like crying!

irishmumwannabe · 07/01/2009 11:17

Ah minx that is brilliant. I'm goign to keep everythign crossed for yuo - and here's hoping the bean sticks this time.

Enjoy your non - caffeinated hot drink and drunken BDs are always the way to go - that's how half my friends got pg! :-) (The ones who have babies)

Good luck with teh future testing - make sure you let us know. Goodthing you changed your name it's obviously a lucky decision!

bubblebell1 · 07/01/2009 11:03

oh wow minx im so so so pleased congratulations

minxofmancunia · 07/01/2009 10:44

OMG OMG OMG!!!!!!

Just had the faintest of pale blue lines on a lloyds pharmacy HPT!!!

So faint though going to use the next one for tomorrow 1st am urine then if I get a line buy a clearblue digital for the weekend.

Don't know how to feel, feel like crying cos so terrified of mc again, if this is a true +ve the next few weeks are going to be hell!!!

Off to have a non caffienated hot drink to calm my nerves!!

Thanks god for alcohol otherwise wouldn't have had drunken bd of xmas eve!

mosschops30 · 07/01/2009 10:18

Is anyone still here

I am resisting testing, those Clearblue with conception indicators look to be the most accurate according to their research (better than their other two tests, and better than first response).

No AF for me yet, cd31 today. But dont wanna test again until friday, am becoming a testing demon!

gettingstarted · 06/01/2009 21:49

minxofmancunia Big hugs, its not good when it feels like thinks are falling apart. I'm having the same thoughts about leaving after maternity leave pay off. However the holidays are good which are ideal for being a Mum. AHHHH! Still BDing, though its pants straight after work. Everything crossed at the moment. AHHH!

HeadFairy · 06/01/2009 14:09

Kat (forgot to say hi and welcome btw ) I'm exactly the same. Just been shopping in the sales to take my mind off it, either I kill myself thinking about am I or aren't I, or I blow what little pennies I have left after Christmas in the Gap sale! Gah!

KatB · 06/01/2009 12:57

Oh and Forces, your exploits last month made me laugh so much, hope you have loads of luck this month!
