Hi All, have been on a couple of ttc hreads but due to sad arrival of af yesterday and x2 negative pg testa thought I'd start a September one.

We are ttc#2 we already have dd(2) and had a mc in September this will be cycle 3 since mc.

Mc hit me hard, more so than other adverse life events for some reason also head full of other stuff such as trying to complete a Post grad Diploma in Cognitive Therapy!!

Anyway want to try to be optimistic and hopeful and not (too!) obsessive this month!

Anyone else fancy joining?? xx

Hello, I'm back from holiday, had a great time, and got a BFP!!!Feeling very lucky, as it was our first month ttc, so can't quite belive it. Congrats to others

JumpingJellyfish · 11/01/2009 16:30

Congratulations HeadFairy!!! So so pleased for you, you have made me feel all positive again! My 2 DCs are 2yrs 2months apart and get on so well (biologically in terms of when they were conceived they'd actually be almost bang on 2yrs apart, but both were prem by different amounts). This morning they were pretending to be birds in a nest (in our bed) and giggling hysterically at each other which cheered me up so much after AF's arrival. Sometimes I realise I just need to be grateful for what I'm so lucky to already have.

Keeping everything crossed for you Issy, really hope you do get your BFP but glad the "plan B" is on the horizon should you need it. Keep strong and keep talking to all of us! x

Issy42 · 11/01/2009 16:21

Congratulations Headfairy - that's brilliant news .

Maybe there's hope for me yet with one bd then - tho I have another week to go before testing if I wait until 14 dpo.

Haven't been on for ages so congrats to any other BFPs too and commiserations to those with AF.

I have my appointment through for first consultation to start IVF on 26th. Very scared and excited at same time. Still hoping for a BFP next weekend so don't have to go through with it though .

Sunnydale - there are several fertility friend websites. Fertilityfriend.com is the charting one. Fertilityfriends.co.uk is the one for people having fertility treatment and there is fertilityfriend.co.uk which I've stumbled on accidently but not taken much notice of. Temping tells you when you have probably already ovulated, so a combination of temping, CM observing and OPKs is probably best. Good luck.

bubblebell1 · 11/01/2009 16:20

head congratulations! im so pleased for you hopefully see you soon xxxx

HeadFairy · 11/01/2009 16:06

Hi everyone, sorry I haven't been on for ages, I've been lurking but avoiding posting as I'm a bit wary of the whole "Oh I'm sure I'm pg, got sore boobs, we've painted the spare room pink" only to have to post a day later that af came. So I was avoiding jinxing myself!!!

Sorry to hear about af joy... It's so frustrating and I can totally understand how upset you are. I tried for 18 months to conceive ds and each month was like a punch in the stomach. I hope you have better luck next month, your time will come!

Minx, LOL at all those tests!! You'll be broke before the baby's even born! I think the first trimester is the hardest, all that fretting.

Jumping, sorry to hear about your af too, but glad your LP seems to be lengthening.

Well, I'm afraid having read that everyone else was testing tomorrow, I really was going to wait, but cd 32 is my lucky day, tested positive twice before on cd 32, and I guess it's still my lucky day cos I got a BFP this morning!! The wierd thing was that I got up at 7 to get ds and I did one then and it said not-preg (splashed out on the digi ones!) and I thought Oh blimey, what on earth is going on here, so I left it a couple of hours. I was going to leave it a couple of days but I'm pathetic at waiting, so I used the second test in the box and got the bfp. I think the first test was faulty because it came up not pg almost straight away, and I know those digi ones take an age.

To say I'm blown away is an understatement, because I had the cold of a lifetime this month, and normally we bd 4 or 5 days over my fertile period and this time we managed one half hearted bd on cd 15, when there was a break in my coughing and spluttering.

So I've worked out that going my by LMP, I'm due 17th Sept, four days after ds' 2nd birthday. If I end up having a cs (did last time, funny uterus, long story) then I might even try and wangle it so they have the same birthday, but that might be too cheesy even for me!

Good luck for those still on the wait, hope to see you on the ante natal boards soon! x

JumpingJellyfish · 11/01/2009 12:10

oooh it's quiet on here at the moment!

Hope those of you on the 2ww are surviving with your sanity just about intact! And good luck for the Monday testers!

Well sadly I'm out this month, so going to hop over to Oct thread. AF arrived first thing, in full flow. At least it seems I'm not spotting so much beforehand, which I think is good as was beginning to worry my luteal phase might be a bit short (as spotting started as early as CD22 in a few cycles- I never used to get any spotting pre-DD and was bang on 28-day cycles). I guess the advantage of having fairly short cycles is more opportunities each year..
Still I have to say Joy I know how you feel, felt really miserable this morn when AF appeared as secretly had my hopes up, and this was our 7th cycle of TTC so it's beginning to drag a bit But my oh-so-rational DH told me that he reckons while he was away (CD12-CD15) was probably when I could have ovulated so there's an explanation for why no luck this month...

Right, must do some work..

Good luck all of you remaining on the list- I will keep popping on to read your news and really hope some more BFPs are on their way!

Sunnydale · 10/01/2009 16:53

Hello all. Joy, so sorry your AF arrived. Know completely what you mean about paying your dues. It's so hard, isn't it. Try to be happy you're 28 - loads of fertile years ahead, although I know it might not feel that way now. But it's true! And you know you can get PG, so no worries there. I'm 10 years older than you and panicking, big time! Have loads of wine, blue cheese, pate, sushi, the lot. Smallone,I sympathise about friends announcing pregnancies - you're happy for them but you can't help feeling sorry for yourself and like it'll never happen. What does my head in is all the advice saying "not to stress" and "not to think about it too much" - implying that we sabotage our own chances by wanting it so much. I try not to believe that, but it's hard.

Okay, so pretty sure am not PG this cycle. All PG symptoms have vanished - not surprising as they were prob only in my imagination anyway. Please can someone recommend a good fertility monitor, as I didn't check when I OV'd at all this month (in a bid not to "think about it too much") but it didn't work so next month I want all the help I can get. Are pee sticks or thermometers best? What is Fertility Friend? Is it good? Sorry, am a bit clueless as didn't need all this the last times. Thanks v much and babydust to all xx

smallone · 10/01/2009 15:19

Hi joy ta for kind thoughts, I know what you mean, about friends overtaking you, but speaking from experience, if your baby is the youngest, yours is the one that will get the most attention! Not a bad consolation prize.

I always count CD1 as soon as I get anything, but then once I start it gets going pretty quickly. However, on the persona you count CD1 as the first morning,so if you start in the afternoon you go over to the next day, so in my head I'm a day ahead of what my monitor says (if that makes any sense?) Don't think it really matters all that much as long as you always do the same.

Joy27 · 10/01/2009 14:59

Well smallone, as long as you're spotty rather than spotting, I guess there is still hope... Keep us posted.

Hope you enjoy your time with your friend and worst case scenario doesn't happen. We are first among our friends to even think about babies- but I do have this (irrational, selfish) fear that someone will decide to start ttc now and "overtake" us. I would feel jealous and "but we were there first- WAH!"-ish. Though of course in my rational mind I would be happy for my friends. Jesus, am I pushing 30 or 13?

Am less melancholy today. Stocked up on folic acid, grapefruit juice and positive mental attitude. Mental being the key word there.

I do have a question though- is CD the first day of any bleeding, or the first full day? I started spotting at around 7.30pm last night and now have full-on af. So is yest or today my CD1?

smallone · 10/01/2009 09:10

Morning all, no AF yet but feeling crampy and spotty! So sorry joy, hope you're getting your fix of wine, blue cheese, scalding hot baths etc. You could go on both boards if you want. Don't think anyone will mind.

Am going to stay at a friends tonight, I'm pretty sure they're trying too, so worse case scenario they announce pregnancy and my AF starts. I hope I can keep it together. It will be hard with her coz we were pg together with dc1's. (due dates 5 days apart)So I know they're going to say "you're not pg too are you?"

Joy27 · 09/01/2009 22:23

Oh, D, yes- I know it well.
I live just off BMR as it happens...
God, we probably know each other. It's very incestuous round here!
How nice to think that someone is having new pg happiness so close by! While I sit here being a grumpy cow just down the road, ha ha.
Congrats.

minxofmancunia · 09/01/2009 22:17

No, D! Just go down a road with the initial BMR and cross over the parkway but I have many happy memories of your neck of the woods as we used to live in Hulme and lots of our friends live in C!

Joy27 · 09/01/2009 22:15

No way
Not somewhere beginning with C perchance?

minxofmancunia · 09/01/2009 22:12

South too!

Joy27 · 09/01/2009 22:10

South. You?

minxofmancunia · 09/01/2009 22:08

South or North?

Joy27 · 09/01/2009 22:04

Thanks for your support minx. Never fear, I am tucking into leftover NYE booze as I type. Still very fed up. Bah.

Your BFPs sound totally bona fide- hurrah! Of course you are nervous, but I really hope it all works up and you remain steadfastly knocked up!

I'm from mancunia too btw

minxofmancunia · 09/01/2009 21:56

get some wine Joy asap!!

minxofmancunia · 09/01/2009 21:55

hello, feel a bit nervous now I'm on the bottom!

really sorry joy to hear about your bfn, sending you lots of babydust for October and don't worry about whinging that was nothing compared to my paranoid rants and obsessive compulsive behaviour.

Did 3 tests today!!! First one (Sainsburys) was a dud, how frustrating and then I went to tescos in lunch hour and got a clearblue got a nice fat blue line, THEN went out of my way on way home to get a Lloyds pharmacy test from the pharmacy I bought the original ones from, what a complete loon!!!

Line on lloyds one was darker but I had to get dh to check and as soon as he saw it he said "that's loads clearer I don't have to squint to see that one" which was re-assuring.

Will be less of a freak if i can get past 6 weeks cos that's when I mc last time, another 2ww! Am booking myself in for a private scan (hopefully) at 7 weeks then will see GP.

Can't wait for Monday for all these results will be checking in first thing!!!

xxxx

Joy27 · 09/01/2009 21:43

Well, Friday night finds me on my own with just SATC, a hot water bottle, and a packet of painkillers for company. Got my period this evening- no september baby for me.

Feel really fed up and as though I have paid my dues: a miscarriage, and six months of trying later, and nothing. I'm 28 and obviously fertile since I got pg last year. Why isn't this happening for us?

Sorry for mega whinge- just feeling down about it. I really did think that I could be pregnant. Never mind. My best friend is getting hitched in september so at least I know I won't be giving birth on her big day.

smallone and irishmumwannabe, I know you're planning to test on Monday so good luck. I really hope you get your BFPs.

So, I'm not too familiar with these mumsnet boards- where do I go now? To the October baby thread, or will this thread carry on for those of us who haven't been successful?

twoplease · 09/01/2009 21:38

Thanks sunnydale at sitting on hands.

Sunnydale · 09/01/2009 12:29

Sorry smallone, don't get down - you could still be in with a chance yet. Those HCG levels double every day! Joy, lol at "pissing on hopes". I might just test for the hell of it - it will be a BFN and that will be that. Can't bear my ridiculous sympton spotting any longer. No, I didn't mean that. I will NOT test. Am sitting on hands now. And thinking of the rest of you being strong. But then again, I could test and not tell you. No, that would be wrong. Okay, am sitting on hands again. No, am off to eat giant packet of crisps.
