Hi all. Well, after nearly a year of talking about it, and not really trying NOT to conceive, we are finally taking the plunge and this month will be our first PROPER month of TTC our first child. I am so excited! I realise it will not all be plain sailing, but I feel it is such a huge thing to have even reached this point.
I am on CD1 and have been v closely monitoring my cycles and ovulation patterns (we have been using natural family planning for a while) so am extremely nervous and excited about what is held in store.... Anyone in the same boat that would care to join me?!

Morning ladies,

Thanks for the welcomes!
Ooooh, and we have a BFP! Congratulations Snowflake, what amazing news!! We'll all have to backtrack through the old threads and see what exactly you did to get to your blessed state...

I'm sipping away on a cuppa and just thought I'd ask if you've all given up caffeine? I've read conflicting advise and just don't seem to be able to shake the habit... although I am trying to limit myself to one or two cups a day.

Katster, I don't think the odd glass of wine will hurt while TTC - if anything it'll chill us out! (Although, I must say I don't think I'd dare drink once... if/when I get a BFP.)

Oh, and also wanted to say to any of you who are still waiting around for AF after coming off the pill - Agnus Castus is your answer! I used it years ago when I came off the Depo (EVIL!!!) to get my cycle back, so automatically got myself some for coming off the pill. And my AF arrived bang on time!

We're eloping for our wedding, so are really having a wedding and a honeymoon all rolled into one. It's so nice to be able to have no wedding stress whatsoever, although I wish someone had pointer out that if you're getting married on NYE it means that you'll be getting right after Xmas with all the chocs and the gingerbread and...

Anyway, hope you all have a good day, catch up with you soon!

Sn0wflake · 10/12/2008 10:28

Well I am very surprised but after testing last night I can tell you that I am pregnant. I really didn't expect it as I had had no unusual simptoms. And it really felt like my AF was coming on untill day 28 when it didn't come and I had the slightest sensation of nausea. So I have to say that I think simptom spotting may not tell you a lot at all. My boobs are not even as sensitive as they usually are before AF. Anyway happy this morning but it all feels very unreal.

Welcome Broodzilla.

Katster - because I really didn't think I was pregnant I had been drinking all the way through the 2ww.

Purple - I put bding on a calendar on the fridge. Don't think it is sad at all.

So I'll update list

CWFXmas 1st cycle cd6 AF due 24th Dec
PCH 1st cycle AF due 4th Dec
LadyMetroland 1st cycle cd36 AF due ???
Sn0wflake BFP

Others please add yourselves

PurpleCrazyHorse · 09/12/2008 21:58

Congratulations on the wedding broodzilla, I hope you have a lovely time (ooohhh... maybe snow!). How very exciting

I'm CD5 and running about a 28/29 day cycle, but difficult to tell really as last month was the first one sans Pill.

Been putting BD-ing in my diary (is that sad!?), feels a bit crazy but need to co-ordinate as DH spends 2x days a week away from home. Ov-ed I think around CD17 last month so needing to maximise BD-ing when DH is here. Still, only so much you can do.

I'm not surprised so many babies are conceived in Dec, it's blooming freezing here! However, does take more effort to think sexy bedroom attire rather than warm pyjamas . On my own tonight so will be bed socks and layers!!

katster37 · 09/12/2008 18:19

Congratulations on the wedding, broodzilla! Where are you having it? Are you going on honeymoon?
I am hoping more babies are conceived in Dec!!
Well, I think I am actually on the 2WW now, having decided I have ov-ed today! However, I am going out for a pizza and wine tonight... Think I will give up alcohol at the weekend when it will be 4 DPO. What do you think?
How is everyone?
DH has texted to say he has only just left work and i am hungry for pizza! Hurry up!
Hope everyone's well xxx

Hi Everyone,

Please can I join too?
I'm on CD1 with a massive carton of grapefruit juice in the fridge!

Let's see, what else... I'm a few days short of 30 (yikes) and getting married in three weeks. DH2B and I have been together for nearly 8 years and finally decided to make it official, partly in honour of TTC.

Here's to festive BDing, you all know that more babies get conceived in December than any other month, right?

katster37 · 09/12/2008 12:33

Snowflake - I am with you there! I symptom spot pretty much from 1DPO!! Still got EWCm today so not sure if I have OV-ed yet or not... DOes anyone else monitor CM for this kind of thing?

OP posts:
Sn0wflake · 09/12/2008 10:44

I'm day 28 and waiting for AF to arrive. I'm very busy simptom spotting though. I think you can really make youself feel a lot of stuff because you want to.

katster37 · 08/12/2008 18:18

Hello ladies!
Sorry not been on for a while... Been manic at work and it's getting me down
Where are we all on cycles? I am CD18, and last month OV'd on CD19 but my EWCM seems to be drying up so am thinking it could be today... Anyhow, managed to BD on CD14, 15, 17 and this morning so here's hoping... My luteal phase has been v short though, and last month tried lengthening it with B6 and Agnus Castor so am hoping it works again this month.
purple, i want a Christmas tree! DH says we have to wait until next weekend, so am looking forward to that!
Right, hope we have all had OK-ish Mondays!
Babydust to all.....

PurpleCrazyHorse · 08/12/2008 10:55

Hi ladies, hoping the cold nights are encouraging snuggling . Had a great weekend putting Xmas tree up so feeling quite festive now.

AF been and gone so very excited to be TTC now. Feeling that the pressure is on and bd-ing has a more serious undertone. Very weird.

I think this month will go really slowly and will take preg test whilst away with friends in early Jan. Either exciting news to share or a weekend to take my mind off it. Fingers crossed as DH away for 2 weeks in Jan so next time will be Feb!!

Christmas-y good luck and hoping everyone has exciting news in 2009!

Sn0wflake · 07/12/2008 18:49

Lady I think that it sounds like your in with a good chance. Did you bd the next night? How is everybody else doing? I'm due on the 9th so not long to go. Feeling a little crampy so not hopeful.

LadyMetroland · 04/12/2008 13:12

such as -- period being late, odd types of cervical mucus, bleeding mid-cycle - and many other things. All easily explained if you chart (sorry, am recent convert so am banging on about this!)

Did an ovulation stick test yesterday and it was positive! Unfortunately DH wasn't feeling well last night so we didn't take advantage of it - grrr. We'd BD'd on the two nights previously though so am hoping that was enough.

Kwini · 03/12/2008 23:19

"Never again will I worry about all the things I used to worry about."

Such as??

LadyMetroland · 03/12/2008 18:49

Adding myself to the list (hope I've done it right)

Sn0wflake 1st cycle cd 21 AF due 9 Dec
CWFXmas 1st cycle cd6 AF due 24th Dec
PCH 1st cycle AF due 4th Dec
LadyMetroland 1st cycle cd36 AF due ???

Kwini - yes I did wait purposefully for a few months before ttc as I thought my cycle would be buggered, which has turned out to be correct. Although have done a fair bit of travelling in recent months which can also screw up your cycle

I've been reading that Toni Weschler book on conceiving and have to say, it's an eye-opener. Never again will I worry about all the things I used to worry about. i'd highly recommend it if you want to take a military style approach to conception - which I do.

I wouldn't worry about flying in early pregnancy - have never heard of it being a problem and I'm sure people must do it all the time. I suppose the only problem might be if you had morning sickness, you wouldn't want to risk being stuck on a plane for hours on end. The misery.

Kwini · 02/12/2008 19:15

Oh, definitely! I don't think I'd want to be flying late in the day, either - after seven months I'm planning to keep my feet planted on terra firma! Weirdly, I'm still concenred about flying in early pregnancy, though I can't say why...

PurpleCrazyHorse · 02/12/2008 18:15

Thanks Sn0wflake. Now we're past the possible August due date, we're just going to run with it. I'd love a Sept/Oct/Nov baby simply to avoid Christmas, New Year, mine, mums & DH's birthdays (which are all within about 4 wks of each other!).

However, just spent the weekend with a friend and their newborn and I'm feeling pretty broody so no longer mind birthdays clashing.

As a January baby myself, it's got its pros and cons but it does mean I can get joint birthday & Christmas gifts

Adding to the list:

Sn0wflake 1st cycle cd 21 AF due 9 Dec
CWFXmas 1st cycle cd6 AF due 24th Dec
PCH 1st cycle AF due 4th Dec

Kwini remember to check you are still within the airline pregancy limits when you fly back - don't want to get stuck at your destination...!

Kwini · 02/12/2008 15:08

Thanks, Snowflake. That makes a lot of sense.

Sn0wflake · 02/12/2008 14:18

Hello Kwini. My tuppence worth is that it can take a while to get pregnant and so trying to scheadule too much may not work out - and also unfortunate things like miscarraiges can happen which means you can be at square 1 again.

If it were me I would just start trying. Deal with everything else after that. I was born two days before Christmas and always quite enjoyed it. On my Birthday there would always be a festive feel to everything.

I wouldn't want to do long haul heavily pregnant but i wouldn't worry about it much before then. I just think it would be really uncomfortable.

Anyway I hope that helps.

cantwaitforxmas · 02/12/2008 13:51

Hi Kwini,

I had 2 reasons for coming off the pill a couple of months before ttc. Partly I wanted to see whether AF would still be regular (I had been on pill for 13 years so I thought it might take a while for my cycle to settle down but AF is still arriving every 28 days). Secondly my DP wasn't so sure about ttc and needed time to get used to the idea so this was sort of a small first step. I think that having a couple of pill-free months before getting pregnant helps with dating as you know the day of your last AF but not sure whether it really matters.

Thought I would add myself to the table

Sn0wflake 1st cycle cd 21 AF due 9 Dec
CWFXmas 1st cycle cd6 AF due 24th Dec

Kwini · 02/12/2008 13:36

One more question for those of you travelling over the holidays: worrier that I am, I can't help wondering about the effects of long-haul flights in early pregnancy (even though apparently there's no reason that changes in air pressure etc. should affect baby). Is anyone else thinking about this, or am I being overly cautious?

Kwini · 02/12/2008 13:26

Hi all - my partner and I are also starting to think about ttc. I've not yet come off the pill (LadyMetroland and Cantwaitforxmas, did you purposely wait a few months before ttc?) and am wondering when would be a good time. I know that I've got to travel to Canada in October 2009, which means that if we were to conceive immediately I'd have just given birth in September...if it takes longer than that, however, I'm not sure I'll want to be heavily pregnant while travelling. Then there's the December baby question - not wishing to sound flippant, but ideally it would be nice to avoid a Christmas birthday for the LO (my uncle and grandmother had birthdays in late December, which often ended up getting overlooked!) - so I'm torn between starting right away and waiting until the spring...

I'm 26, btw.

Sn0wflake · 02/12/2008 11:24

Purple well my fingures are crossed for you. All I can say is that sometimes there are no early signs of preganancy so it could be your month.

LadyMetroland Hmm it must be a bit frustrating to have your cyles all over the place. Mine seem to be about 27 or 28 days long. I am sure that when I was in my 20's they were about 31 days long. I have heard that your cycles can get shorter as you get older - but for the life of me can't remember where I read that.

Morning Katster - I think I have been having the pregnancy panic on and off for years. I'd have a couple of months where I felt broody and then the loss of control I would have over my life would terrify me. Also personally I am really am not looking forward to being pregnant. I don't want to have something inside me. I don't want to be in pain or sick and I don't want it to make me fatter than I am. I have a fear of pregnancy itself. This might be to do with the fact that I got pregnant when I was 18 and hated every seccond of it. I didn't want it and fell asleep every night knowing there was something inside me that was growing and I really couldn't handle it. Anyway I had an abortion and have never regreted it. It was right for me. But I think the experience has left me with a bad impression of pregnancy. I hope that this time it will feel good. (I hope this doesn't offend anybody - but it's honestly what I felt)

Well I'm 34 in December and I have been with my DH for six years and we got married in September. I'm very happy. So I'll give this getting pregnant thing a go. But before we started out, me and DH agreed that if we had problems that we would then go down the adoption route. I think that would be best for us.

Anyway since we seem to be turning into a propper thread maybe we should have our own table:

Sn0wflake 1st cycle cd 21 AF due 9 Dec

katster37 · 02/12/2008 08:29

Hi all,
Thanks purple, will check in a second.
Welcome cantwaitforxmas - I can't wait either!!
I know what you mean Deeja, I totally feel like my life would be half lived, I'm just feeling scared. I think it was 'cos I visited my parents thisweekend, and I started thinking about how having a baby would change my relationship with them, which sounds really weird, I know - I think I am just having a freak (which I do all the time anyway!)
I am 27, been married for 3 years. How old are you Deeja?
Hope everyone has a nice Tuesday... Am on a course this afternoon, will be glad to escape!

cantwaitforxmas · 02/12/2008 01:43

Hi,

can I join you. I have posted on another couple of threads but it's nice to chat with some other first-timers. This is our first month ttc DC1 - I am on CD5. For the first few months we are just going to rely on lots of GOFing although if I don't get a BFP quite quickly I will probably try to at least get a better idea of when I ovulate. I stopped taking pill 3 months ago and AF still arriving every 28 days but that's as much as I know about my cycle. I am 29 BTW.

I'm really excited but nervous too. I was doing my xmas shopping and thinking that by next xmas I could be pregnant or have a baby - it doesn't seem quite real somehow. Does anyone else feel like that? We haven't told anyone in RL, a few friends know that we are thinking about ttc soon but thats it.

PurpleCrazyHorse · 01/12/2008 19:45

Sorry, been away for the weekend with DH and friends so had no internet access. Had a brilliant time but nice to be home again.

Katster37 - I saw the Deanna plan on another thread so thanks to amelied for the following:

Google "sperm meets egg plan" and it will appear near the top.

It's on a MC site, just to let anyone know who's feeling sensitive about that. The article contains BD timing advice for anyone TTC.

Sn0wflake Hi, I'm 29 and TTC DC1. Been off the pill since end Oct but were careful in November to avoid being due in August as we're helping lead a kids camp.

However, I'm now feeling a bit ropey so thinking AF is due, which would be about right - not sure my cycle has settled yet, though. Last month, did keep an eye out for ov and spotted a couple of symptoms so hoping to do the same this month.

DH is off to Uganda in Jan for 2.5wks which will scupper any plans for a BFP that month. Feeling like the pressure is on a bit for Dec but trying not to stress too much.

LadyMetroland · 01/12/2008 17:57

Hi all. I'm 32. So hopefully the eggs aren't too decrepit yet. How about everyone else?
Deeja - my cycles are a bit erratic. Had two normal ones of 34 days just after coming off the pill in the summer, but last month was about 46 days and this cycle also looks like another epic. But at least with temping I know whether or not I'm actually ovulating. Have yet to this month but I suppose there's time yet...

Is everyone on the 2ww at the moment then?
