Hi all. Well, after nearly a year of talking about it, and not really trying NOT to conceive, we are finally taking the plunge and this month will be our first PROPER month of TTC our first child. I am so excited! I realise it will not all be plain sailing, but I feel it is such a huge thing to have even reached this point.
I am on CD1 and have been v closely monitoring my cycles and ovulation patterns (we have been using natural family planning for a while) so am extremely nervous and excited about what is held in store.... Anyone in the same boat that would care to join me?!

waves to longhairedchief - welcome

katster -sorry you are feeling blue xx

idreamofbeanie · 16/01/2009 10:07

Morning katster - sorry to hear you aren't well but LOL at blaming it on early pregnancy. I am doing the opposite. I feel disgustingly healthy and full of energy - after feeling tired and a bit down for the last couple of weeks - and am convincing myself that it is obviously a sign I am pregnant!

katster37 · 16/01/2009 09:59

Aaaw Broodzilla do you have a cold as well? I am off work (hence MN-ing!) with awful sinus thing. Obviously had managed to convince self at start of the week it was DEFINITELY pregnancy related!! I can't wait for CAlifornia, although I am secretly hoping to be pg when we go... It will have been 9 months trying if we've not managed it by then and I may well have gone insane...
Am v confused by the whole temping thing... Mine seems to change every time I do it - is anyone else temping that can explain it to me a bit better?!

Broodzilla · 15/01/2009 20:43

Yay! We have a new member! Welcome longhairedchief!

Oooh, beanie, you've just made me feel so much better! I just wish it was all a bit more scientific, you know, like even just lines going from faint to dark rather than randomly skipping to whiteness! I normally drink about 2 liters of water a day, so I can't tell you how hard it's been to keep it down to nothing really, to make sure my wee is "concentrated" enough for testing. And how exactly does that square up with keeping hydrated enough for any potential beanie?

Having said that, my head is too busy producing snot to manage to produce anything anywhere else.

Anyway, I've just written a soppy note on the GFJ thread about how great MN is, because it seems like you lot can always bring a smile to my face. It's meant for all of you as well, especially you lot really, as we're all newbies to TTC!

Katster OMG, that's so funny! We did SF down to Monterey. Spent a night at a lovely hotel called Spindrift Inn, but it was a looong time ago so not sure it's still there... we also went to Lake Tahoe, I learned to snowboard in Squaw Valley! Drove through Napa too, the scenery is amazing. It's gorgeous, you'll absolutely love it!! We've been so inspired that we're determined to do an American Road-Trip every couple of years or so. (It's all right to dream...)

PurpleCrazyHorse · 15/01/2009 18:46

How rude... welcome longhairedchief

PurpleCrazyHorse · 15/01/2009 18:45

LOL Katster - I was a bit similar with the PG tests (bought a load on the internet) and the folic acid. Now hiding pregnancy vitamins, the MW forms and leaflets! You're right about the 12ww - I'm going a bit mad but trying to take a deep breath and enjoy each day as it comes.

Although I really don't want MS, it would be good to 'feel' more pregnant. Felt a bit sick this morning and again this evening, but I think I was getting in a pickle about driving the car

DH is in Uganda until the end of Jan. I don't mind being on my own so much, especially as I'm at work during the day. Might visit my FIL (as DH's mum is also in Uganda, on same trip).

katster37 · 15/01/2009 16:52

They're annoying these DH's who aren't on tap for BD-ing, aren't they?! I'm annoyed as DH is away skiing from next Fri (CD11) to Thurs (CD17). I think I OV on about CD17/18 so I have told him that however late he gets back on the Thurs (his flight lands at 11pm and we are both working the next day!) he is DEF going to have some stamina left, even if we are both half asleep!!
longhairedchief does you DH go away for long periods of time or generally just during the week?
Yep, the clinic is coming along nicely (!) My Dad came over for dinner last night as he was working in London unexpectedly and I had to race into the bathroom and hide the boxes of various things that would probably have made him feel rather uncomfortable! He arrived and was bursting for the loo, so I had to race in before him rambling ridiculous excuses about leaving something in there! Goodness knows what he thinks I'm like!
BTW Broodzilla I don't think I ever answered your Q about California. We are flying to Monterey and hiring a car, driving up to San Francisco so I am v hopeful for wine-tasting opportunities! (unless am pg which of course would be preferable!) Do you remember where you went?

Due Monday and counting !!

idreamofbeanie · 15/01/2009 16:43

Oops - x-posted. My DP also works away a lot during the week so just having to jump him whenever he is home. As you can tell I am very impatient so I'm also counting the minutes - what day are you due?

idreamofbeanie · 15/01/2009 16:41

Hi longhairedchief - you're right of course, we are all very friendly here . Is this your first month of trying?

purple - glad to hear that you are still feeling well. You might be one of those lucky people who avoid MS. Then again I always think the MS must really make you feel pregnant so maybe there's a plus side (or am I just mad ). It's funny the way you finish the 2ww (which drives us all mad) and move onto the 12ww before you have the scan and can start sharing your news.

broodzilla don't give up hope - I had faint lines on CD12 and 13 nothing on day 14 then a very dark line on day 15 so you never know. That's with a 28 day cycle but if you've been ill maybe your body is a bit behind this month.

katster ROFL at you setting up your own clinic. Glad I'm not the only one getting a bit obsessed!

Well day 22 here and boy is the month dragging! Can't even amuse myself symptom spotting as I don't have any symptoms. Roll on the 22nd!

longhairedchiefofstaff · 15/01/2009 16:36

We sort of started last month (!) but didn't have my 'clinic' set up then!!! Tried to aim to BD more this month. Trouble is DH is away with the military so BD'ing a bit sporadic.
I read your post about feeling down. This week I have felt really low. I'm trying not to count the minutes until I can test next week but I'm a bit impatient!! Just trying not to be disappointed if this month isn't the one

katster37 · 15/01/2009 16:30

Welcome, longhairedchief - i like your name! I think everyone's really friendly on this thread. Is this your first cycle of trying?

OP posts:
longhairedchiefofstaff · 15/01/2009 16:29

Hi guys! Please can I join :-)

TTc no 1 and a bit anxious!!! You all seem very nice ha ha!

Broodzilla · 15/01/2009 16:09

Purple you might just be one of the lucky ones who feel fine throughout the pregnancy! My BF is due to pop any day now, and she has felt absolutely fine and normal for the whole time, no morning sickness or anything!

Katster LOL at you setting up a clinic! I'm awaiting my next shipment, which should be here tomorrow. Can't wait!

I think I've given up hope for this month, I don't get my body at all. First I got faint OPKs, then nothing, then faint ones, now nothing again. And I'm CD12. On a 26 day cycle.

I've been really ill though, so I'm sure that must mess with the system. And, in a way, maybe it's for the best as I'm about to go on a long-haul flight at the end of Feb, coming back at the beginning of March, so not ideal to be pregnant and suffering, right? (Everything happens for a reason, everything happens for a reason, every...)

BTW, I posted on the GFJ thread, but just incase you're not all on there as well... one of my friends is in the middle of IVF at the moment and she was told to make sure she eats 60gr of protein every day and also told to have a hot water bottle on her belly at night.

Just wanted to share that on the off chance that anyone of us might need even more things on the to-do list!

katster37 · 15/01/2009 15:58

Wow, your DH is going to Uganda, purple? How long for? That sounds v exciting! Hopefully MN will be helpful to you too if you're feeling lonely or if symptoms kick in. People do say 6 weeks is about the time, don't they?
Well, I am feeling quite excited, as DH phoned from work to say my parcel has arrived - which contains: 1 x thermometer for charting, 6 x graphs to plot temps on (!), 50 ov sticks and 20 10miu pregnancy tests!! I am hoping not to need 20 pg tests, but you never know!! That does make me sound like I am setting up my own clinic or something doesn't it...

blondeshavemorefun how many pills have you got left to use up? Bet you are eager to get started!

OP posts:
PurpleCrazyHorse · 15/01/2009 15:08

Thanks Katster. Remember, we're here for little rants too I know how I felt in Jan and I would have been pretty down myself so I think it's totally reasonable to have a wobble. Love your attitude though and you're right that it'll happen when it happens. Big smiles and I'd share the choc in my desk if I could

Only MN and DH know and ideally don't want to tell family until after 12wks but don't think this is likely. Mums are going to tell everyone and it would be awful to tell them I'd miscarried. DH left for Uganda this morning and we're happy for me to tell a friend if I'm suffering with morning sickness while he's away. No massive symptoms yet though, slightly sore breasts and they're slightly larger I think (or wishful thinking). Still a little cramping and had a tiny spot of nausea this morning. I'm 6wks tomorrow so entering symptom territory.

How's everyone?

katster37 · 15/01/2009 10:50

Broodzilla thanks for the tea!!

And purple thanks for the wishes. I think I need to snap myself out of it! I just have to learn some patience and realise that it is worth waiting for and it will happen when it's meant to happen, if that makes sense! Glad you are not having too many symptoms that are making you feel ill. Have you told anyone your news in real life, other than DH of course?

I am busy applying for jobs at the min. I am a teacher but feeling quite despondent at the minute and looking into a change. Any tips?!

Happy Thursday to you all x

Sorry for your AF Katster, really sad for you and hope something crops up this week to bring a smile back

Fingers crossed for you Beanie and Broodzilla.

Still feeling no different to usual, had some more cramping (AF style but apparently that's my uterus expanding). Only expanding I'm doing around the waist is due to lack of gym and too much chocolate!

Big hugs to everyone

Broodzilla · 14/01/2009 18:34

Hi all,

Seems like we're all feeling a bit down... must be the time of year. I for one don't mind people popping in here to have a moan/rant/get it off their chest. That's what it's for!

Blondes I think it's good that you're finishing the pack, sure I remember reading that it's easier on your body. (same as when you start the pill, it's better if you start it on CD1.)

Katster - big, virtual cup of (decaf) tea coming your way!!
I hope you feel better soon, it's rotten isn't it to have AF AND feel sad! As if one or the other isn't bad enough.

Beanie, yup, me too. I really thought that I'm one of those chilled out people. But I've just ordered some more OPKs (I'm going through them like nobody's business)... and some Pre-seed. I'll let you all know when it arrives and has been... ehm... road tested... if it's any good.

Now I'm going to be hitting the cookie jar.

idreamofbeanie · 14/01/2009 14:59

Hi all,

this thread had been a bit quiet recently.

katster - sorry to hear that you are feeling so blue . Don't feel bad for coming on here to offload, that's what we are all here for. Can you chat to your GP about how long any of these pills/treatments should take? Have you tried posting the problem as a specific thread anywhere on mumsnet? I'm sure someone on here must have had the same problem.

I am on day 21 so another week to wait before I know whether we have been lucky this month. I am feeling totally obsessed and the fact that we are really quiet at work this week isn't helping. It's my birthday this weekend so hopefully that will keep me busy and distracted. I really wanted to be one of those people who are just relaxed and don't think about it too much but that's clearly just not me .

Blondeshavemorefun · 14/01/2009 14:39

katstar - not yet but am still on last few days of pill

dont know why i want to finish packet, but i do

does that make me insane{grin]

katster37 · 14/01/2009 14:27

Hi everyone. Purple how are you feeling? ANy symptoms yet?
Blondes have you got AF yet? Mine turned up last night, and I didn't take it very well I actually went to bed crying. It was 3 days early which means even if the egg was fertilised, there is no way it could have had time to implant. All the pills I am popping to lengthen my luteal phase seem to be a total waste of time . Maybe it takes a while to get into your system...
Well, I hope you ladies are having good weeks. Mine is not too good so far... Sorry, I am being utterly miserable and annoying!!

thnaks purple and congrats btw

life will never be the same

PurpleCrazyHorse · 10/01/2009 19:08

Had first proper chat with DH about the BFP. Kinda dropped the bombshell just as we left the house on Monday night heading for dinner with friends. Been in shock most of the week but had a brill chat about all things baby whilst shopping in town (not for baby things, I might add!)

Bit of a wobble on the doula front - DH not happy. But once I explained the benefits (and I want to go to a birth centre without epidural options, therefore having anything I want!) he's fine.

Still haven't heard from the MW about a date for my booking appointment and don't want to tell parents until I have a date for a scan. Hmmm... so the waiting goes on!

Hoping we have loads more BFPs in Jan - big smiles all round

Blondeshavemorefun · 09/01/2009 23:25

guess i want AF to arrive so i know where i am in my cycle - then the countdown begins
