Hi all. Well, after nearly a year of talking about it, and not really trying NOT to conceive, we are finally taking the plunge and this month will be our first PROPER month of TTC our first child. I am so excited! I realise it will not all be plain sailing, but I feel it is such a huge thing to have even reached this point.
I am on CD1 and have been v closely monitoring my cycles and ovulation patterns (we have been using natural family planning for a while) so am extremely nervous and excited about what is held in store.... Anyone in the same boat that would care to join me?!

Welcome Kitty and Violet. It's so exciting having lots of new people. Good luck everyone.

Any more news idreamofbeanie?

Chuffed that the sickness has gone for now although soon to be back as I'm driving the car later! Only 1wk then DH is back and my car stress reduces. However off out for dinner tonight but wondering if I can eat steak - is pink ok. Hmm... off to search the wonderous google!

violetbubbles · 23/01/2009 13:46

Hi everyone. Been lurking for a few weeks now. Decided to take the plunge and join the party! Came off pill at the start of Jan. Was on Dianette for 10 years! Still feels a bit mad that I'm TTC. Haven't told anyone else - except DH of course! Feel scared, excited, confused...but optimistic!

VeryAnnieMary · 23/01/2009 08:44

Hey Kitty! Welcome! Looking forward to tracking your progress!

kittycatcat · 22/01/2009 16:14

Hi all. Another newbie if i may? I've just had AF and stopped taking the pill. I am thinking it will take aaaaaaaages as i went in the pill when i was 15 and am 34 in August. But if it happens sooner i will be very happy .
Congratulations purpleCrazyHorse. And fingers crossed for Idreamofbeanie I've enjoyed reading through this thread, and look forward to hearing from you all.

PurpleCrazyHorse · 21/01/2009 22:50

LOL VeryAnnieMary I found it tricky thinking about TTC - all a bit odd really. I also managed to get through 4 PG tests in about a week over New Year!! I'm now feeling quite chilled though

Just told our first RL people - quite exciting. Still not telling parents for a couple of weeks but as we live in a different town, this should be fine. Don't plan on telling anyone else until then. Our friends asked me outright so couldn't deny - plus had been asking them loads of baby questions!

Sorry AF arrived longhairedchief - big boo. Although you're probably right about DH though . Good luck for Feb.

VeryAnnieMary · 21/01/2009 18:26

ps congrats Beanie and other graduates x

VeryAnnieMary · 21/01/2009 18:24

Hey all

Feel a bit of a fraud as I still am not really admitting we are TTC, even to self - though have already weed on a stick. Tell me I'm nuts:

Came off pill on NYE - have BD once since (in defence have been really busy and also trying not to think about ttc). Yesterday finally went to Dr about ear infection, was prescribed antibiotics, got them and read leaflet (yes, am that sad, I am that person that reads leaflets) and it said to talk to DR if preg. Thought to self, am clearly not preg, then laughingly admitted to DH what I was thinking. So he marched me to Superdrug and made me purchase wee stick thingy. Was desperately trying to tell him sotto voce about the TWW (since Superdrug is close to home and people who know us could have been there - ab very not ready for this).

Anyway, got home, drank glass water, then later weed on stick. Single pink line appeared almost immediately. Felt daft. Took antibiotics.

If I'm like this now, what on earth will pregnancy hormones do to my mental state?

Anyway, you lot are the only people I can share things like this with so thanks for letting me ramble!

longhairedchiefofstaff · 21/01/2009 18:02

Hi guys! AF arrived yesterday so not my month this time. Never mind... keep trying! Sure DH won't mind keeping on BD'ing ha ha

PurpleCrazyHorse · 21/01/2009 10:52

Beanie I think you're wise to be slightly cautious although I know it puts a bit of a dampner on things. I'm looking forward to buying some baby items and looking at names but determined not to get carried away too soon. I think that would be even more horrendous.

How's everyone doing?

Feeling more sick today but ate a few Jaffa cakes and I've perked up. Looking a bit chubby in the waist area but trying to stand up straight and hold it in! Looks like I've had one too many pies Prob water retention or a big hint to get to the gym!

idreamofbeanie · 20/01/2009 14:23

Broodzilla - I often get small lumps in my breasts around time AF is due and they usually disappear quite quickly. It's probably nothing but it's always best to get these things looked - for your own peace of mind as much as anything. Let us know what happens.

I will definitely be hanging around for a while. I don't think I will feel confident enough to join an ante-natal thread for a few weeks. Half of me is just so happy and the other half won't stop thinking about the high rates of early mc (have a couple of close friends who mc their first pregnancy so I suppose it was bound to be on my mind). What an idiot - give me a slap someone. I feel guilty for not just being totally excited now I have the BFP I wanted so much.

Broodzilla · 20/01/2009 13:52

What a successful thread this is proving to be!
Wohoo to Beanie and fingers crossed longhairedchief!!

Also, please stay on here at least for a while, it's so interesting to read your experiences after the BFP! (Seriously, good fodder for the obsession!)

Well, as you know I've not felt too optimistic this month, as the OPKs have drawn blanks and very faint ones. Only yesterday, DH asked if I felt pregnant yet, so once again explained that it doesn't work that way...
Completely unrelated, I'm sure, but I was complaining yesterday that my bra must have shrunk because it was "squeezing" my left boob. As I was undressing, I noticed that the bra had dug into the side so I kind of put my hand on it, and then noticed a small lump. I freaked out a little (well, a lot) and made DH come and feel it. He felt it really clearly as well, and had a bit of a panic. It's about the size of a grape, which is quite large considering my breasts are only a small C.

As I'm sure I've told you before, my boobies don't seem to fluctuate with the time of the month, so this is all new to me... As I've been really ill, I'm kinda thinking that it's a swollen lymph node or something. It's a bit tender, but doesn't hurt.

ANYWAY - this morning I've had some slight spotting. Only a couple of drops of pinkish blood. Too early for AF, as she's due 29/30. Even if that was implantation bleeding (which is unlikely, as I don't seem to have OVd) surely it would be way too early for my boobies to be acting preggers?

Any thoughts? I often get swollen lymph nodes on my throat when I'm ill, so really thinking it's just that. Have any of you ever noticed the same thing happening in your boobs?

And, I suppose finally, please take this as a reminder to check your boobs regularly... I'm usually pretty good, but have actually not checked for a couple of months, so I have no idea how long the lump has been there. If it's not gone in a few days, I'll be going to the doctors.

PurpleCrazyHorse · 20/01/2009 12:31

Hi idreamofbeanie - I think I probably felt a bit sick too when I initially found out - mine was most likely nerves and excitement . Had a bit of AF like pain quite regularly for weeks 4-5 or so and nausea started slightly yesterday and a bit more so today (I'm now 6+4). Still get the odd AF style cramping.

Would definitely recommend the little and often approach to eating while feeling sick. Felt a bit sick around 11am so had a couple of dry crackers. Boring but certainly did the trick and has meant I'm not feeling sick now I'm eating lunch. Bland food is top of the agenda but currently munching on a Milky Bar!

Hoping that I don't end up feeling awful as I don't want to have to tell work too early. Found out that the stupid sickness policy here is based on number of episodes of sickness rather than days. So it means if I feel rough, I'm better off getting a sicknote for 2 weeks than having a few odd day off

idreamofbeanie · 20/01/2009 11:30

Thanks LongHairedChief, I'm keeping my fingers tightly crossed you have some great news at the end of the week. You're so good waiting until the weekend to test - I sort of wish I had waited as I am very excited but also very nervous it isn't going to stick. Have gone from being an obsessive symptom spotter to a compulsive knicker checker (sorry TMI ). It just seems so unreal!

Purple - how long did it take before you had any symptoms? I felt a little queasy this morning when I ate breakfast but I think I might just be imagining things because of the BFP. Only just 4 weeks today so early days still. I can't believe I'm almost hoping to feel sick (sure I'll regret that at some later date) but I think it might help the news sink in.

PurpleCrazyHorse · 20/01/2009 09:50

Brill news LonghairedChief got my fingers crossed.

I'm feeling a bit more nauseous today but ok about it as beanie obviously held on tight down the stairs! Managed to have a small bowl of cereal for breakfast and have got lots of bland stuff in my lunchbox. Very pleased I only travel 5mins by train.

Work IT are doing my nut in. I'm trying to rise above it but I'm in a bit of a grey mood Getting hailed on while walking to work hasn't helped!

longhairedchiefofstaff · 19/01/2009 18:43

Big congrats Beanie!! CD28 and no AF for me so got my fingers crossed. Haven't tested as too scared that it will be BFN . Told myself will wait until end of week when DH is back. Might break before then though ha ha!!!

PurpleCrazyHorse · 19/01/2009 16:37

Congratulations Beanie. I'm sure AF is on a long vacation and big hugs to you.

Blondeshavemorefun · 19/01/2009 13:18

OMG beanie - thats fantastic!!!! ((HUGS))

i am still waiting for AF to appear after coming off cerrazette. then hopefully i will have an idea of my cycle

idreamofbeanie · 19/01/2009 13:02

Okay ladies, it's confession time . AF is not due until tomorrow or Wednesday and I promised myself that I would not test any earlier than Thursday. I don't even have any obvious symptoms this month but have just been feeling really positive about getting a BFP. Anyway gave in and used a first response test this morning and guess what - BFP ! It came up really fast and it is very clear. I didn't believe it so I picked up a clear blue digital test at lunchtime and tried again - it said pregnant, 1-2 weeks. It doesn't feel at all real, especially as AF isn't even late yet. I'm so excited but also really nervous AF will still show up this week somehow - please keep your fingers crossed for me. Trying not to get too carried away as it's very early days but OMG!!! I think I'm pregnant!

PurpleCrazyHorse · 19/01/2009 09:34

Morning ladies. Hoping everyone is feeling ok and not still full of colds

I'm ok but feeling really achey, fingers crossed I'm not coming down with something but could do with a day in bed! Fell down the stairs on Sun morning - trying to turn off heating while still half asleep. No harm done just went down the last few steps on my bum. I'm sure beanie is okay but I've got some lovely carpet burns on my arms!

No symptoms except a tiny amount of queasyness and being in bed by 10pm every night.

Thinking of everyone loads and good luck with the temping Broodzilla. I saw an ex-tempers thread on the pregnancy board so looking good

idreamofbeanie · 18/01/2009 15:35

Hi all, hope everyone is having a good weekend.

I've had a good giggle reading through all the saliva-related messages. I might not share that little snippet with DP - don't want to put him off .

broodzilla I hope you are feeling better today and have a positive on OPK (or even better on HPT). I haven't tried temping but you will have to let us all know how it goes. Loved your pre-seed report. LOL at the glue description - hasn't really sold it to me but if you get BFP this month I might quickly change my mind.

katster - hope you are still feeling positive. I am getting there with the 2ww - AF is due Tuesday or Wednesday. DP is away for a week so should really put off testing until he is back at the weekend but will probably crack on Wednesday or Thursday if no AF by then. Have a really good feeling about this month - no idea why as no real symptoms but just feel very positive.

purple - hope you are well, any morning sickness yet?

Hi blondes (lucky girl!) and chief

Blondeshavemorefun · 18/01/2009 11:18

broodzilla - no need to explain - hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm that may cause a problem - dh very fond of licking me

katster37 · 18/01/2009 10:20

Broodzilla - Sat here with DH and we are both ROFL at saliva!!
Purple I have been thinking of you and hoping you are doing OK and not missing DH too much, and that symptoms are enough to reassure you, but not too bad as to feel ill!
idreamofbeanie, you must be nearly at the end of the 2WW? How are you feeling?
Hope everyone is having a lovely weekend.

Broodzilla · 17/01/2009 15:33

Oops, forgot two things.

Katster, I'm glad you're feeling more positive! Not long now and you'll be taking over the BD wagon.

AND, v.v.v. importantly, the leaflet that came with the pre-seed explains that all other lubricants are not-swimmer-friendly (I'm sure everyone knows that...) BUT that what most people don't realize is that saliva is also hostile to sperm.

I'm sure I don't need to spell out why that was good to know.

Broodzilla · 17/01/2009 15:28

Checking in...

Well, it seems that my man-flu is sinusitis. It also seems that the GP wouldn't give me any medicine as apparently "there is a risk of pregnancy". (I WISH!!!!!!!!)

Just for fun, I did a HPT as well as the OPK when I got home (yup, I know the two should be mutually exclusive, but the GP said...) and wouldn't you know it, both of them are BFN. (I did know that the HPT was going to be anyway... waaaaay too early...) But that means I am now officially CD14 and am yet to ovulate. I'm hoping against hope that I HAVE OVd and missed the surge, but I do know being ill can make you not OV.

I'm seriously thinking about starting temping next month as apparently that's the only sure-fire way of knowing that you at least HAVE ovulated. Might invest in one of those "point and shoot" ear thingies as they should be more reliable and they're very fast too.

One more thing. My latest shipment arrived.
We tried out the Pre-Seed last night. As promised, here comes the review:
I was quite surprised, what with all the talk about EWCM I was expecting it to be like... egg whites, all slippery and stuff, but you know what? It's STICKY! After DH panicked and said "are you sure it's actually meant for *, are you sure it's not GLUE" he did actually really like it. Can't say I noticed much of a difference, it's more that it was (TMI ALERT!!) handy before the deed...

We'll see if it makes any difference.
Right now I just want to OV.

Hope you're all having a fab Saturday!

katster37 · 17/01/2009 11:14

Morning ladies
Hope you are all OK! Where are we all?! I am on CD5 now, feeling a lot more positive having finally shed AF-arrival-blues! Plus it's gorgeous and sunny today!
Broodzilla how are you feeling? Any symptoms?
