Hi all. Well, after nearly a year of talking about it, and not really trying NOT to conceive, we are finally taking the plunge and this month will be our first PROPER month of TTC our first child. I am so excited! I realise it will not all be plain sailing, but I feel it is such a huge thing to have even reached this point.
I am on CD1 and have been v closely monitoring my cycles and ovulation patterns (we have been using natural family planning for a while) so am extremely nervous and excited about what is held in store.... Anyone in the same boat that would care to join me?!

hi KITTY - sorry to hear about your pulled muscle - though glad its not a blood clot - i have had one of those travel up my leg, to my lung which collasped and nearly died

guess i want AF, just so i have a vague idea where i am in my cycle, coz as the moment i havent a clue

kittycatcat · 07/02/2009 10:54

Hi Blondeshavemorefun, i had to go docs for a pulled calf muscle this week. Was agony, couldn't walk. App clots are a side effect of coming off the pill...but it's a muscle so thats all ok. Anyhoo, doc mentioned alot of women dont have AF at all when they come off the pill to conceiving...
Fingers crossed for everyone.
Kaster have you another CBT session? If so hope it goes ok.

Blondeshavemorefun · 06/02/2009 16:03

Broodzilla · 31/01/2009 19:34

AF arrived this morning. It's disappointing, but I'd also rather know than keep knicker checking and wishing and hoping.

I've signed up on Fertilityfriend and started temping, mostly just to take the guesswork out of it all. Don't know if that'll make it more or less stressful, but figured it's worth a go.

I'm also determined to BD every other day this time around, come hell or high water. (Whatever happened to the good old days when that would just have happened anyway, no planning and effort involved???)

We'll see where that gets us.

Happy Saturday Ladies!

katster37 · 31/01/2009 09:07

Ooo Broodzilla I am optimisitc for you, it sounds promising! Also, your SIL congratulating her DP for being a 'real man'?!?! How awful, I would have been too...

Well DH got back late Thursday, and we did BD yesterday morning, but am really really trying not to think about it this month. I'm really looking forward to my CBT appointment so will see how that goes...

Happy Saturday everyone!

Katster I know your DH has just been away, but any chance you could book a sunny getaway? (Even a long weekend down in the Med MUST be better than the dreary gray skies we're permanently stuck with here!!) That might help. At least it's a very good excuse for a holiday!
Also, I know it's a very American thing of me to say, but I do believe that most people (including me, obviously) would benefit from some kind of therapy, so I think it's great that you're going for CBT. Anyway, I'll shut up now, could go on for hours as I've just been reading up on related stuff for work...

We had a letter from my SIL the other day, with pictures from her latest scan. She's doing my head in at the moment, as last time she visited she took it upon herself to congratulate her DP right in front of us, for being "a real man" and getting her pregnant...

Anyway. I know it's fantastic and lovely that they'll be having a baby and all, but...

No AF. No signs. I've normally got a 26 day cycle and today is 27. I don't know what to think.
Just wrote on the GFJ thread too. I think if this was a normal month I might allow myself to get quietly optimistic, but I didn't get a +ive on the OPKs at all this month, and have been feeling so rubbish with this damn virus that I had actually written this month off in terms of TTC.

I just got a text from my friend who says she only got a BFP when she was 3 days overdue. Ahhh, I don't know.

I did find myself buying a Clearblue Conception Date indicator test, but I've promised myself I'll only use it if (WHEN!! POSITIVE THINKING!!) I get a BFP on a cheapy.

kittycatcat · 30/01/2009 09:42

Kaster [big hug]. Good luck with your CBT appt.

Hello everyone [waves]

katster37 · 29/01/2009 19:40

Hi ladies - I haven't posted for a while but I have been lurking and following your stories. Thanks so much for all your thoughts, I really appreciate it.

Broodzilla - any news? how late are you? I think there is definitely something in the seasonal thing. I swear, every January since I can remember I have felt rubbish, and I am definitely a summer person. I actually spent most of autumn dreading January which kind of makes it a self-fulfilling prophecy really! Nearly Feb though, and I think it is staying lighter a bit longer now.

Kittycatcat thanks v much for your email. I will reply in a sec.

And hi to everyone else!

Well, I am actually feeling a lot better and have been doing for the last couple of days. I'm not sure why but I have abandoned the pills and got myself a CBT appointment for Saturday. Dh is back from skiing tonight and I am so so excited to see him! Can't decide whether to pounce on him or whether to leave TTC on the back burner this month. I am thinking a month off won't do any harm and will be one less thing to think about. I am trying to take a more relaxed approach to it now, by telling myself we are not trying, but obviously not use contraception etc.

So, that;'s it from me really. A colleague announced she was 14 weeks pg today and I felt slightly .

Hi Ladies,

I've been trying to catch up on everything here (Hi to all newbies!) Purple, we'll miss you, but congratulations on graduating!

Katster Sorry to hear you're down. I know you mentioned work-issues but do you think there's a chance that it's a seasonal thing? Lots of people in Scandinavia swear by those light-lamps. It can't hurt! (Although, I guess if your heart is racing, it's probably not that.) A friend of mine has just started and promptly stopped anti-anxiety medication because she heard of so many people struggling to come off them. She was going to look into taking St Johns Worth while TTC, will let you know what she comes up with.

Nothing much to report over in Broodzillaland. No AF, but also no BFP.

I'm starting temping as of tomorrow.

kittycatcat · 28/01/2009 15:19

Purple have fun over on antenatal, we will miss you. Keep us updated on your progress and i hope the MW appt goes well. And i hope telling the parents goes well.

PurpleCrazyHorse · 28/01/2009 15:19

Sorry, Katster kinda meant any better? Rather than better all round, I know it's not going to be a quick fix. Really hoping you get the help you need for the stress and also hoping a baby comes along too.

Lots of grinning at you and I'm sure it'll happen.

PurpleCrazyHorse · 28/01/2009 15:10

Sorry things are looking complicated for you Violet hoping you get the answers you need. Katster are you feeling better?

I've given up waiting for the MW to call me so booked my own appointment direct at the birth centre. Going on the 11th Feb so I guess I should really graduate onto the anti-natal board! Been hiding out here but seeming more real now we're about to tell parents.

Good luck to everyone TTC and to all the BFPs we've had already. Hope to see everyone on anti-natal.

Lots of love and hugs

violetbubbles · 26/01/2009 20:08

Thanks for the warm welcomes - it's great having a place like this to come to for hints, tips and advice!

I'm starting to feel quite anxious actually because I've been reading all of these negative stories about Dianette, which was my prescribed pill for 10 years.

We're hoping to conceive within the first six months of trying but the more I read on various chat rooms and advice networks the more I realise this is quite unlikely; because of how long I've been on Dianette...

Anyone else experienced problems after coming off Dianette? Or has anyone been given advice from their GP on the subject...? Any advice or shared experiences would be much appreciated.

On another note - sorry you've been feeling unwell lately Katster37 - sending you positive thoughts!

kittycatcat · 26/01/2009 08:39

Hi all. Don't you just love Mondays

Kaster37 here is my gmail address (hope you are allowed to put this on here i haven't signed up to CAT yet) [email protected]
I had Cognitive therapy, but also hypnosis (not as deep as it sounds), and other types i cant recall off the top of my head. My lady is based in Harley St, but i saw her cheaper in Harold Wood near where i was living at the time. I recently got promoted at work and things were difficult. I have a personality clash with my boss and was very unhappy, so i popped back into therapy for 5 sessions, and this really helped too. I can't recommend it enough. Let me know if you want her details. Good luck with it all.
Purple yum to the steak and magnums
Am very excited for you mummy's to be

katster37 · 25/01/2009 21:39

Hi purple - glad the sickness isn't too bad and sorry to hear that you also had a stressful time with work. I have started applying for other jobs in different areas too, but I feel I probably need some coping strategies and therapy could wellbe beneficial. BTW I also get totally stressed about driving and parking, especially as DH doesn't drive. We don't have a car at the minute which I don't miss at all.
Well, I think we are going to continue with the TTC business, but hopefully it will be a bit less pressured and just have the attitude of when it happens, it happens. There's no real rush. Although, selfishly, I am sure that if I knew I would be having a year on maternity leave soon, work wouldn't seem so stressful!
Hope everyone else had lovely weekends. DH is skiing and I really miss him!

Katster sorry to hear about the anti-depressants, personally I think I'd go down the therapy route too. Could your GP prescribe something TTC friendly that you could take while also having therapy?

I had a period several years ago when I was very stressed in my job and not coping at all. I know what you mean about the adrenaline, I had it most of the time then, too. Mine was obviously linked to work so I ended up quitting.

Seems odd, but wishing a speedy AF for you blondes Hoping things even out and your body starts doing it's thing quickly.

Things in the Purple camp are going well. The couple I told have kept it discrete and I even managed to drive the car on Friday night for a meal with them and other friends. Driving was fine, parking was fine too - I don't know why I panic about it. Evening was really nice, and decided on a well done steak afterall (no pink bits!). Missed out on the cocktails though so bought a box of Magnum ice creams to cheer me up!

Beanie, we popped into the GP the day after I found out and filled in a form for the midwife. Other than that, just waiting for a call. I'm now 7+2 so hoping to hear soon. Sickness as almost totally gone although I get it a bit when hungry so trying to munch little and often. All in all, only had it for less than a week, hoping it doesn't come back. Have got sore (.)(.) too which are quite painful at night if I roll over

Sorry, seems to have turned into a massive post. Hoping everyone else is well.

katster37 · 25/01/2009 20:23

Hi kittycatcat, thanks for that message. I agree, pills don't solve anything, they just mask it. And i have had difficulties coming off similar things (seroxat) for panic things, and I don't want to put my plans for our family on hold. I am in London and have emailed a couple of CBT people, who also do counselling and the like, so hopefully will hear back tomorrow. What kind of therapy did you have, if you don't mind me asking? It's also good to know that your friend had it while pregnant. Maybe there's hope yet!
How is everyone else?

hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

kittycatcat · 25/01/2009 16:14

Hi Kaster37. I agree pills don't solve the problem, they just numb you temporarily. I was on anti depressants at 21 and they didnt help. I didn't do anything to help myself after coming off them, so last year stareted therapy. My therapist is brilliant. I am not seeing her at the moment, but she helped me hugely. She also did CBT and various other forms, depending on what she felt i needed at the time. I have another friend who had therapy while pregnant and it helped her too! I am here if you want to talk! Where do you live? Kittycatcat

katster37 · 25/01/2009 10:34

Hello ladies - sorry I have been AWOL for a little while. I need to catch up properly on the thread so I know what you've all been up to!
I am not sure what to do at the minute as I finally went to the Dr about how sad and panicky I have been feeling (all to do with work, I think, but everything sets me off) and she has prescribed me beta blockers as my heart is racing with adrenaline the whole time, and citalopram anti-depressants. The prb is, you need to take them for atleast 6 months and you absolutely cannot take when pg, according to her. I told her I wasn't happy with this (I don't really want to take them anyway, but I don't want to put off TTC for what will probably be a year as you can't just stop them suddenly) and she said I needed to get myself sorted before I start having babies . The thing is, I don't think pills are necessarily a way to get sorted, and also, I think I will always be an anxious person. Does anyone have any advice?! I am going to pay privately for CBT as I have heard v good things about this and there is a 6 month wait on the NHS.
DH is away skiing until Thursday night anyway, and I think I will OV next Fri. Help!!
purple how was it telling people in RL?! How exciting! Has the sickness abated?
How is everyone else doing?
Idreamofbeanie, congratulations!! I have just caught up on the last few posts - how exciting! How are you feeling?
And welcome to kitty and violet!

Welcome kitty and violetbubbles, good luck to you both.

purple - glad to hear you aren't suffering too badly with ms. I don't have any nausea yet but my boobs are quite sore. Also I've been quite tired for the last 2-3 days, not sure if that's a symptom or if it's just the crappy weather making me want to curl up on the sofa at home . I wasn't really planning on going to the doctors for a couple of weeks as I guess they will just tell me to wait until 8-12 weeks for a midwife appointment. When did you see your GP?

Hi to everyone else

kittycatcat · 23/01/2009 15:15

I am sure i read something about avoiding pink meats...but that might of been TTC not when you have succeded

kittycatcat · 23/01/2009 15:14

Welcome violetbubbles. Good luck I know the feeling!
