Welcome everyone from this thread and sorry about the atrocious pun in the new thread title

Many thanks to DarrellRivers for starting the original thread, and to everyone who's contributed so far - the success stories in particular have kept many of us going I'm sure.

Roll call:
LemonyAle, 36, TTC#1, cd26 (o'd cd19 - fingers crossed for a long lp)

Did anyone else hear the Southern Counties Radio feature about 'older mums' yesterday afternoon? It was lovely

Hi,
I'm 36 and ttc #1. OH and I had tests and I have low egg reserve of 8.6 which is quite low (should be between 5.5-37.4 for my age range of 35-39 years of age) which now worries me after 10 months ttc. Using ov tracking now, and regular but no success yet. Also started folic acid, OH on zinc. Worried if I'll ever get pregnant and go for IVF. OH has good sperm count but motility issues, so is giving up smoking with champix now. Anyone been in this position? Any advice or success stories please?

thanks!

spats · 16/01/2009 10:29

Thanks for the congrats.
Andi i do feel for you. This ttc is horrid and so out of your control it hurts. Wishing you all the best of luck in the world.

THe cough syrup is Robitussin for chesty cough. It's mentioned in the DH plan. On thye packet it says it loosens and thins mucus so i guess that occurs down below as well as in the chest. I did use it for 2 months , although i hasten to add not thie month when i got my BFP. Anyway it tastes quite nice and anything is worth a try.

Look foward to hearing anymore BFP from this link. Won't come and winge about pg symptoms as that is annoying for others i feel , but will keep logging in and offering any congrats when needed.

Baby Dust to all xxx

CoteDAzur · 15/01/2009 16:41

Congratulations, spats!

jellylegs · 15/01/2009 16:11

Oh, by the way , whats the story with Cough Syrup. I know about grapefruit juice but let me in on the secret please ladies......

jellylegs · 15/01/2009 16:09

Spats- that brilliant!!!!Let us all know how u are getting on.x
Hello everyone else. I agree -Lets make 2009 our year....will know in a week if successful....(again!)Fingers crossed

Blondeshavemorefun · 15/01/2009 07:29

congrats spats

Issy42 · 14/01/2009 21:13

Congrats spats - that brilliant news .

So impressed with you managing not to test for a week. I caved in today (AF not due til Sat/Sun) and got a BFN, so hoping just too early but accepting probably not pg as other signs not there.

Rant away andi - that's why we're here.

Hope your emotions are a good sign Jools, good luck with 2WW.

andi0411 · 14/01/2009 19:09

WOW Spats congrats!!!! Well done to you and Mr Spats. I am so happy for you.

Issy and Jools..lets make this our month. I have become more philosophical about the whole PG thing recently and have reached the point where I say to myself and DP that there's only so much of this TTC with its associated disappointments, time and energy that we can take. But I will see someone if we have no luck this month- I wil do that then we will follow what the Dr.'s say and then we'll stop. I hope you understand me reaching this point its just that I feel my 30's has been consumed with TTC, MMC, CP and every other pregnancy abbreviation you care to think of and I am VERY lucky to have my lovely son.
Sorry, don't know why I'm ranting- feels good though!!!!

spats · 14/01/2009 15:12

scared to type this in case i jinx it but i got a BFP today i don't test early and wait and wait and DH made me test today so i am 5 weeks now six long months and this month i was feeling so ill over xmas that didn't bother with epo, grapefruit juice or cough syrup!! Oh and fell on the ice and twisted my ankle on the day i guess it was inplanting!!!

Joolsiam · 11/01/2009 18:29

Hi Andi

I still lurk around this thread, but it did go very quiet for a while

I had a CP too - my first month of trying. Never again will I test early - First Response is the work of the devil

Got a BFP on cycle 3 but lost that one at nearly 12 weeks (early Nov) - like you, was hoping all this talk of fertility after MC was true but not so far

Am on a 2WW right now I think, but cycles are stil messed up so unsure. I do know I have been crying / sobbing ridiculously at the slightest little thing for a couple of days

Good luck

Issy42 · 11/01/2009 18:23

Hi andi. Sorry you had cp . With you on the one more month. Am really hoping I'm pg this month so don't have to keep my first IVF consultation appointment on 26th.

Good luck everyone xx

andi0411 · 10/01/2009 21:32

Whoops- sorry people are already on here!!!
Well hi there everybody-i'm giving this one more month before I seek medical help, I'm hoping the stories of heightened fertility post mc are true but, well, it's hard to remain positive isn't it?

andi0411 · 10/01/2009 21:29

Hi is anyone still interested in being on this thread?
I'm 36 with 1 ds- 19 months and a history of fertility probs. I've just had - I believe- a chem pg and so am - i think- on cd 3.
Do any over 35's want to join me on a brand new year of ttc?

Issy42 · 10/01/2009 19:49

Hi spats. I'm still here but am between ttc - my 8th IUI in December didn't work so now going for IVF - had to transfer clinics as the NHS one doesn't do IVF. Have first appointment at new clinic on Monday 26th. All very scary and exciting at the same time. Hope AF stays away for you.

Welcome blondes.

Blondeshavemorefun · 10/01/2009 17:51

hi - im new to this thread and dh and i decided at NY we will try for a baby after this pill packet runs out

and im also 35 and a little bit

spats · 09/01/2009 20:56

This must be the quietiest thread ever!! I haven't been on MN for about a month as thought was getting obsessed with ttc, symtom spotting, downing load of grapefruit juice and popping lots of vits. Anyway back and now officially allowed on this thread as was 35 on 20th Dec, am officially a statistic for women whose will find it harder to concive - great!! AF due anyday, where is everyone else?

CoteDAzur · 03/01/2009 16:43

Best wishes to all for a wonderful new year. May there be much baby dust and BFPs for everyone in 2009.

(And bumping the thread, hoping the silence means that everyone is too happy in RL to bother with MN )

I'm devastated. I've just had my results for day 21 bloods and I'm not ovulating . I had a suspicion but to be told feels like a kick in the teeth.

I know it's not the end of the world. I do need to lose some weight so that in itself might right things. I'll go back to my GP after Christmas for a chat and formulate a plan of action. The worst bit is I feel like I've let my DH down.

JingleJools · 17/12/2008 16:18

Hi Jellylegs I'm glad you're feeling a bit better It really does take time, and every few days I realise how much better I'm feeling emotionally - there is still room for recovery even when you think you are back to normal - you just don't even realise it till your mood lifts again - if that makes senses

On Sunday morning, I felt like I'd ovulated and was suddenly on an amazing high - a really fantastically good mood ! Saw pink tinged EWCM that day and got confused - obviously too early for implantation and how could I have AF coming if I'd just ov'ed

Still spotting - barely need a pad but it still keeps stop / starting 3 days later. Hoping against hope that I ov'ed earlier and this is implantation but too heavy I think. Trying to keep hold of that good mood and high energy but really don't know what my body is doing at the moment !!

I'm really bloated aswell - so much so I feel really self conscious and fat

jellylegs · 17/12/2008 16:03

HI everyone.Issy42 and Spats thank you for your kind words.........I couldn't respond sooner as I too went quite low....bloody hormones.....Jingle Jools you are right-its 3 weeks on & I feel a little brighter. Have to contend with a urine infection on top of it all though. On anti biotic s so few days left.

This was found at my after scan. I was so lucky to have such a lovely leading nurse.....her words of kindness just hit the spot, I blubbed which felt like a relief. She then said I was going to ovulate in the next couple of days!!!!

Is anyone else struggling with Christmas cheer....think its time to watch 'Its a Wonderful life' . Hope all of you have a good Christmas.....god knows we all deserve one.xxx

PictureThis · 11/12/2008 11:43

Ok, so I've been using the Clearblue Fertility monitor this month. I'm now on Day 22 (had bloods taken yesterday) and so far have only had high fertility readings on the monitor, no sign of ovulation .

This thread has been a bit quiet, hope you are all doing ok and that we have some good news soon.

JingleJools · 05/12/2008 16:47

Hi Jellylegs - sorry to see you back in such sad circumstances

Not sure if it helps, but I am utterly convinced now that you just need to allow the hormones to leave your system - then you can resume some semblance of normality and try to move on.

My MC was Tues Nov 11th - I did some work at home on Nov 20th and 21st which was sort of OK, then went into work properly the next week, including a business trip away. All was OK till the Friday night (2.5 weeks after MC) when I fell into the bleakest deepest darkest depression - it was really quite scary looking back That lasted till Sunday and I dragged myself out of it by keeping incredibly busy.

On Tuesday of this week, 3 weeks post MC, I did a PG test with FMU that was so faint I could consider it a BFN - from then, I've had more energy and generally felt more normal and less emotional. Sooo, I reckon you should do a PG test once a week and will know that, once the hormones are gone, you will start feeling better again. I don't think anyone ever gets over this completely, but it slowly becomes part of your past and you can move on iyswim

I hope that helps a bit - sorry it is a bit long

I'm now desperate to TTC and had OV pains right on my regular schedule on CD16 which surprised me, but I'm pretty sure no egg was released as my boobs normally get quite bloated and sore along with my stomach, but there is nothing So, I'm hoping that either this is an anovulatory cycle and AF will arrive next week, or OV has been delayed and I can catch an egg before Christmas ! Getting impatient though - desperate to be PG again (I have 11 months to have a baby before I'm 40 !!)

spats · 05/12/2008 16:24

Hi jellylegs, i remember you from a few months ago, sorry to hear your news, you must be so gutted, i really feel for you.

I am in the 2ww. Had blood tests done on wed after begging GP, said i had been trying for 6 months only 4 really!! My progesteone was within the normal range for luteal phase which i think is the 1 needed to be checked at this stage. The SH was a bit lower than the reference range but i am not sure wether this is OK for the luteal phase. My next lot of bloods are when AF arrives and i believe this is when the LH and FSH are important, anyone know? x

Issy42 · 04/12/2008 22:59

Jellylegs so sorry to hear about your mc . There's not much more that I can say, so just sending .

jellylegs · 04/12/2008 14:06

hi every one.....just caught up there was a new thread.....Was on old one a long time ago and sadly here I am again. I miscarried last week after TTC no 3 for 8 months. I am very sad. Now am also on miscarriage page as still bleeding and feeling low. Need some inspiration. Just read Jools1 and sounds like a similar experience. Had been pregnant for 2 months(even thought of a name-stupid I know) and then started to bleed. Blighted Ovum????? It is horrendous. When will i feel better?????xx
