Morning ladies

PnM how frustrating that it's inconclusive. I was hoping that you'd get a more definite answer than that. But glad to hear that your experience of it was positive - the NHS can be great when things work well!

MrsH lol at the scanning dildo!! At least the HPT confirms what your temps were telling you.

Ei I think we're nearly on the same cycle days aren't we? I'm on CD 8 now, so gearing up for the bd bonanza this weekend .

hello to everyone else

PicknMix · 26/11/2008 11:14

Glad you've done another test MrsH, never nice to get a bfn but one less thing to worry about on thursday.

Nice to see you Ei, meant to ask before, how is your new job going?

I've had the scan, came up as inconclusive which is no surprise as thats what my blood tests have shown. But that in itself is fairly annoying, just wish I could know one way or the other! Have to say, big thumbs up for the ultrasound unit at my hospital, most professional. The woman who scanned me was the same lady who scanned me for my miscarriage (they must have had a major reshuffle when they closed the epau down) so faith in the nhs has been restored!

MrsHappy · 26/11/2008 08:06

Hi all

Well I did another HPT and it was neg as expected and my temps are nice and low, so no probs there. I am not sure how much it is worth speaking to the HSG people - they are radiographers and likely to be a bit clueless about that sort of thing...

PnM good luck for today. Your post made me LOL as I remembered my DH's face when he first saw the probe (which he then referred to as the scanning dildo...). It sounds like your lot are being careful about the antibs. I had to have some swabs for bugs. Yick. But at least they are cautious.

Right, will be back later, must run to work!

HappyandEiknowit · 26/11/2008 00:09

hi ladies
PnM good luck for your scan tomorrow
MOB yay for some fabulously strong symptomsnot long until your scan now so we can all find out whether there is a litter in there or what
mrsH i say test after your strange bleed! if it is bfn speak to the hsg people about it when you go
caitni how are you?
JB and mibbes our resident heavily preggos how are the bumps treating you?? how close are you now JB? i know mibbes is nearly ready to pop
hello to everyone else
xx ei xx

Caitni · 25/11/2008 22:47

Hi PnM just x posts with you .

MrsH I actually second PnMs sensible suggestion of another hpt - would help put your mind at ease.

And I just never knew that HSGs involved antibiotics...not sure why I'm so surprised but I am!

Caitni · 25/11/2008 22:40

Evening all

MrsH at the universal measurements! If only . Very strange about how you're feeling though. I get loads of EWCM early on, about a week before I ov, so it could just be that, but the sickness and strange period are odd. You should definitely mention them to the doctor doing the HSG. Also at the antibiotic suppository! The things I learn on here...

PnM good luck tomorrow - hope it goes well xx

JB So exciting that we're going to be cyber aunties again so soon! I hope you're taking plenty of time to relax and take care of yourself. I reckon Dr Happy is right about the sofa prescription

MOB thanks for the tip about picking up his results - I remember your DH doing that but just totally didn't twig my DH could do it . Considering I was told on the phone that my results were "no action needed" before I asked for the actual results maybe my DH is right . He's decided to work from home on Friday and try and get an appointment, and if no luck then just go in and pick them up. Either way I'll be seeking expertise in understanding his results on here .

Just saw an add for an upcoming programme on BBC4 called "Growing Babies" about life in the womb. Looks fascinating!!

PicknMix · 25/11/2008 21:57

Hiya everyone,

Firstly, just in case you pop in one last time I just wanted to say to Bucky thank you so much for your cyber friendship and support over the past year or so. I'm so incredibly sad for you and your dp and also that you're leaving the thread. I will def drop you an email, take care x

Congrats on good results Caitni, how very annoying about your dh's sa results though. I've read that anything over 20 in your prog test is good... Your dh can def get a print out of his result but it depends whether you can wait until the actual appt with a dr to explain them properly rather than try and read them yourself I guess.

I'm baffled by your symptoms MrsH, do you think it might be worth doing another hpt before your scan on thurs, just to make doubly sure? If you say they're similar to preg symptoms might be worth it to put your mind at rest. I've been given two different types of anti-b's to take before my hsg, have to start one set a week before then start the other on the day of the scan. All very confusing!

Yay for the symptoms Mob! Must feel very reassuring that the bean[s] is/are making it/themselves known

JB I second MrsH, get yourself on that sofa and put your feet up. Hope jollycub is behaving and the hiccups have stopped now?

Helloooo Ei, are you ok?

Hi to Mibbes, terribly close for you now, how are you feeling??

Hi to anyone not mentioned by name

Thank you for remembering about my scan tomorrow. I've had one before when I had my miscarriage and I'm a little to admit I laughed when I saw the probe thing and the fact that they had to put a condom on it! The poor sonographer must've thought both me & dh were really crude but it was the first time we'd laughed in days, nervous laughter I guess! Is it stupid to admit to being a complete fantasist and thinking there's a teeny tiny chance they may say "oooo Mrs PnM, did you know you're pregnant?".... Yes, I know its totally stupid really but I can dream can't I?!

MrsHappy · 25/11/2008 21:10

Curse those alternative measurements Caitni. I'm sure they could have some sort of universal methods for those of us who get our medical advice from Dr Google! I reckon your husband is right about why they can't give his results over the phone.
My DH's results were total gobbledigook and so they do need some interpreting. Maybe he can get a cancellation and get them sooner?

Lots of luck for tomorrow Picknmix. I think the thought of an internal scan is way worse than the reality and it'll be over before you know it.

Jollybear it's so exciting that we're going to be cyber aunties again soon. I prescribe sofa for you too. It's the best thing for the discomfort. Can you balance your dinner on your bump yet??

I hope those symotoms are carrying on MOB. I reckon JB is right and such nice strong symptoms could mean TWO chicks. Yay!

I feel very strange today and it is making me worried about the test on Thurs. I am at 8 dpo and having bloody EWCM. My period had stopped but yesterday I had a big gush of blood (sorry TMI) and today I am cramping. And I feel sick, especially when my DH eats stinky cheese. It's odd, I tell you. They are sort of pg symptoms when I have not even ovulated. Maybe I can put it down to stress or something... Well at least if I have some sort of infection the giant antibiotic supository (sp?) I have to take before the HSG will sort it out! (That's assuming the chemist manages to order it in in time...)

JollyBear · 25/11/2008 20:57

Hello everyone,

bucky I'm so sorry that you have decided to leave but understand completely why you feel you have to go. It is such a horrible, horrible thing to happen . Take care of yourself and your DP

PnM Good luck for your scan tomorrow. Make sure you take it easy afterwards. I prescribe an afternoon on the sofa with some soppy films and plenty of chocolate.

Caitni If your DH can't get an appointment then you should get a copy, otherwise you'll be worrying all weekend. Fingers crossed all is well.

ei and mrsH I'm sorry you didn't get better news this month but at least you both have a lovely supportive cycle buddy this month.

MOB It must be fantastic to be feeling so pregnant already. My boobs were dreadfully sore almost straightaway too! Early nausea could mean twins of course .

All is well here, getting a bit uncomfortable though! Not long to go now...

Madoldbird · 25/11/2008 18:14

How annoying Caitni. Hopefully your DH can get an appt this week. He can always ask for a copy of his results that he can just go in and pick up (it his his information, he is entitled to it)- I'm sure we all know enough between us to interpret them That's what my DH did (you may remember) - he was just told his results were "low" and to go back in 3 months. He insisted on getting a copy and when i saw them i realised that they were not just low they were "no hope of ever getting pregnant naturally low". Not that i'm suggesting that there will be any problem with your DH's, it's just i know how awful the waiting is.

Hope everyone else is ok today? PnM if i don't get a chance to get on before - hope the scan goes well tomorrow.

Caitni · 25/11/2008 16:37

afternoon ladies

MOB so glad to hear you're having symptoms, though also sorry to hear you're suffering IYKWIM. Though after trying for so long I bet you're glad for it to be feeling real

MrsH Apparently doctors look for prog to be 30+ (to indicate high enough levels to support a pregnancy), though there's plenty of stuff on MN/google to show that levels in the 20s are fine, though I don't think a rate as low as 10 would indicate ov (it's confusing as the UK, US and Aus all use different measurements). What time is your scan on Thursday?

PnM hi lady, what day is your scan again?

Ei hello hope things are good with you?

So I just spoke to my DH and he can't get his SA results over the phone as the "results report is too long" so he has to see the doctor. I instantly thought this was dodgy - surely bad news is only delivered in person? - though he's sure it's only because the receptionist can't understand the results. Officially the earliest appointment he can get is Thursday next week though he's going to try and get one earlier by phoning every morning for a cancellation (the receptionist told him he should be able to get something on Thurs/Fri am this week by phoning). Since my fertile time is coming up this weekend we'll just have to bd as normal and hope things are OK with his swimmers .

MrsHappy · 24/11/2008 21:20

MOB that's great that you are having symptoms already. Sore boobs and nausea normal but heartburn so early is really unfortunate! I had that when pg with my daughter and by 14 weeks I could barely eat without chugging Gaviscon and developed a serious ice cube addiction... It's so going to be worth it in the end, though.

No news to report from me, so I will jog on, but I hope you are all ok and not too cold!

Madoldbird · 24/11/2008 20:44

Oh Bucky I am so sorry that you have decided to go for good, although i completely understand. I'll drop you an email. Hoping that happier times are around the corner for you. XXX

MrsH LOL at a HSG improving "ferility" - is that a cross between fertility & virility?? Sounds good Excuse me laughing at your typo,(no offence intended) just made me chuckle. In all seriousness though, i hope it goes well and is as pain free as possible. It will be a good step forward, and will answer some important questions for you, which will allow you to make informed decisions.

PnM Glad you got the scan booked. As Caitni says, i have had several of these now, and they are fine. It is undignified, and i found it can be slightly uncomfortable, but i found it fascinating to see my insides! As with what i just said to MrsH, it is a good step forward for you as well.

Caitni I'm no expert, but those results look fine to me! The progesterone indicates you have ovulated, and the FSH shows that you still have lots of eggs available, as it is not having to work too hard to produce one. Here's hoping for good SA results for your DH tomorrow.

EI How are things with you this week?

I'm getting a few symptoms now. Mainly incredibly sore boobs, that wake me up in the night if i turn over and lie on them! I have also had some nausea over the past couple of days, and heartburn this evening. I'm only 5 +3, should i be getting all this yet?? The symptoms are great though - as they reassure me that maybe i really am pregnant, and, at the moment, after the past 18m, i am welcoming every wave of nausea.

MrsHappy · 24/11/2008 16:48

Just a quickie to say "yay" for your test results Caitni.
I had always understood that anything above about 10 was fine for progesterone so 29 does not sound at all low to me.
Bring on the SA results!

Caitni · 24/11/2008 16:29

Just got my blood test results back:
LH 4.1
FSH 7.8
Progesterone 29

And apparently these are fine (though the progesterone one is perhaps a touch on the low side but does show I'm ovulating). Just waiting for DH's SA results (which he should get tomorrow - wish we'd just had them sent straight to us instead of to the GP's now!) and then I'll get an app with the GP to get a referral for the next stage (probably an HSG).

Won't officially feel fine until the SA results come back but at least things are moving along...

Caitni · 24/11/2008 14:34

Hi ladies

MrsH Not too sure I could handle beer (even when drinking regularly two pints would have me slurring and all that!). Remarkably, I didn't have a touch of hangover yesterday which is obviously my body's way of saying "please have wine more regularly" . Really interesting about that HSG study, I'll be hoping that it works for you! Will also be hoping that it's not too painful...

Hi MOB how are you doing? Have any symptoms like morning sickness kicked in yet? I hope the days are passing quickly until your scan on the 10th.

And big hello to everyone else - hope you're all doing fine (and not frozen with this cold weather!).

We had a great weekend, the tinned pumpkin turned into lovely pumpkin pie though I was so stuffed from the turkey dinner that it was a challenge to even have any! An American friend is hosting another thanksgiving meal this Saturday, so we've
yet another turkey/pumpkin pie feast to look forward to. And we're off to see Malcolm Gladwell give a talk tonight - since he's my favourite New Yorker writer I'm well excited!

MrsHappy · 23/11/2008 10:42

Bucky I am so sorry that this has happened and I do get how completely weary of it all you must be. TTC is just unbearably cruel sometimes. I am really sad that you're going - we will all miss you, and I will email you as I would hate to lose touch after all the things we've shared on here.

PnM my HSG is on Thurs (CD10 for me). I am really dreading it as I have read that it is painful and more so if you have one tube and/or if your other tube is blocked. Oh heck. I have read a study that says that it does lead to an increase in ferility (so much so that the study did refer to possibly using HSG before IVF to increase natural conception) so I am just concentrating on that part. Your scan should be fine - maybe a wee bit uncomfortable but that is all. I know it is undignified letting people stick a probe up your hoo-har but it won't take long and when you get pg and have your baby you will get utterly used to flashing your bits!!

MOB How are you feeling today?

Caitni I hope the hangover isn't too bad! I have reintroduced myself to beer this week - am surprised how little it takes to make me start slurring! How was the tinned pumpkin?

Ei is everything good with you?

Caitni · 23/11/2008 00:51

Bucky I am so still so sad for you and your DP . I'm also depressed to hear of the advice you've had from the NHS . Please don't be hard on yourself, as you're not to "blame" in anyway for what you're going through. A session with a private consultant, who really knows what he/she is talking about, could be the best way to weigh up your options at this point. But I appreciate you've made a hard decision and I'll definitely drop you a line as I want to keep in touch in RL (if you want to meet for lunch or a drink anytime I'm around). to you and thinking of you both.

PnM Well done for booking the scan, it sounds scary but I'm hoping it's quite straightforward (MOB am I right in thinking that these scans are part of checking that IVF is fine? I'm thinking I've read about them on the Scanhealth website...).

So I've officially fallen off the wagon tonight (we had some family over for an early thanksgiving turkey meal today so couldn't resist the champers and wine on offer ). While I'm not feeling [very] tipsy, I am feeling like you ladies mean such a lot to me. I don't know what I'd do without this place to express my feelings, but also to listen and learn from all your experiences, positive and negative alike. I may not have my BFP (yet) but "meeting" you all on here has added so much to me and my DH's ttc journey. And I still think we'll all get the dcs we so want and deserve (and Bucky that includes you too).

OK enough of that, back to the pink champagne I'm drinking...

HappyandEiknowit · 23/11/2008 00:32

bucky im so so so sorry things have ended like this i for one will miss you on here!! if you dont mind i will add you onto my email list and drop you a line from time to time to see how you are xx
xx ei xx

Bucky2008 · 22/11/2008 23:49

Hi girls. Well it is well and truly over . DP is so sad it is unbearable and being pregnant for 2 days is pathetic . I went to the doctor and now do not qualify for NHS IVF because I have shown I am able to concieve. Should I choose to pay for it myself, it would most likely be pointless as I think it is me who cannot carry the pregnancy. I have had enough so I am done.

I am going for good, but could not have got through the last few years without you girls. I would love to keep in touch in RL. You have been the best cyber family ever and I am leaving all my baby dust for you all and hope you all get the dcs you deserve. If you would like to keep in touch please drop me a note at [email protected]

I'll miss you guys. I feel like somebody should be showing me my best bits . Take care.

Bucky xx

Been thinking of you all day Bucky, big hugs again for you xx

Hi to everyone else, hope you're all ok? I've booked a transvaginal scan for wed so wish me luck for that as am dreading it.

Is it your hsg on Monday MrsH? Still awaiting the arrival of my period so I can book mine (cd30 today, no idea if or when I've ov'ed).

Take care everyone xx

MrsHappy · 22/11/2008 18:36

Hi everyone
I hope you're all ok.
I was rather hoping to log on and see that Bucky had stopped bleeding...
((((higs)))) to everyone who needs them.

Bucky Life is so cruel and unfair sometimes.
.
Look after yourself. Lots of love to you both. XX

07mumstheword · 22/11/2008 08:42

Bucky I am so so sorry to hear you are bleeding. As the others have said do go to the doctors it's worth having your experience documented. I hope you and DP have lots of support and cuddles together this weekend. I'm gutted for you.

HappyandEiknowit · 21/11/2008 22:30

hi ladies
bucky oh god im so sorry to hear about your bleeding i definitely think it is worth a visit to the GP if not the EPAU near you! take good care of yourself, do alot of sobbing, have higs and kisses from your DH and nurse your broken heart im so so sorry i feel sick to the stomach with how unfair TTC can be
