nice to see you back to your cheerful self caitni MrsH hope you are well and you catch that egg with a bit of post flight fancy
hi to everyone else

MrsHappy · 29/01/2009 21:28

Hi all

Glad you are feeling better today Caitni, and I hope you have a good weekend exploring your new 'hood!

MOB I am glad you are ok and your were just off having a life. Grr to the SPD etc, but I'm sure if you think back to months ago you'll recall that you would have put up with any amount of pregnancy hassle for a bean. Anyway, in 25 weeks time (less since there are two in there) all of your discomfort will be over...

PnM please don't feel down. I too reckon an email directly to the consultant saying you are concerned that your tests will be no use at this rate might do the trick. Chin up; you and your DH will get there in the end.

Have you gone to Miami now, Bucky?

You sound cheery Ei. I hope everything is going ok.

News here... well I got my at last this afternoon but flipping DH's business trip was extended and so instead of coming home today he is not back until tomorrow morning! And post transatlantic flight he may not be feeling frisky. Why does it have to be so effing hard???? Grr!

Caitni · 29/01/2009 14:00

Hi ladies,

PnM god, I had to giggle at the "when did my life turn into talking in acronyms?" as I feel the same too sometimes (lol!). I'm also more than a little addicted to the emoticons after years of thinking "why do people add these things to their emails?" (). The things MN does to us, eh? I'm sorry to hear you're disheartened - big to you. It's normal to feel frustrated (you are dealing with an idiotic system) but please don't lose hope. I believe you'll get your BFP and then you'll be OTM (Over The Moon) and will go on to be TBME (The Best Mum Ever) (like we need any more acronymns )

And big to Ei Bucky MrsH MOB - hope everyone's doing well xx

Feeling much better today, so more than a little at my self-indulgent rant yesterday! Still no period, but should arrive later tonight/tomorrow. At least it means I got my blueness out of the way yesterday so can enjoy the weekend .

HappyandEiknowit · 28/01/2009 21:38

evening ladies
hope everyone is doing well
caitni sorry you think AF has arrived fingers crossed its implantation spotting and if not loads of luck for your appointment and for next cycle
PnM where in the country do you live? it just seems you have got the worst hospital system ever!! even our mediocre facilities seem to be quite efficient. is there no way you could pay and go private?? i hope you get some help from pals
MOB nice to see you 15 weeks already!! it seems like yesterday you were starting your treatment and here you are growing a litter
bucky hope you are ok how long til miami?
hello to the lurkers
xx ei xx

PicknMix · 28/01/2009 19:44

Evening all,

I'm tres tired tonight so will have to keep this short, apologies!

Really pleased to hear all is ok MOB, was beginning to get a little bit worried. Although sorry to hear the tiredness is getting to you and that you're already suffering SPD not nice for you. I hope you're getting enough time to get a bit of rest? Thank you for the PALS number, am intending on giving them a ring tomorrow if I get time.

Helloooo Bucky hope you're ok and 'busy' . Did you ring the hospital in the end about your missed pill? how long 'til Miami now?!?!

Yay for a smooth move back to London Caitni . I know exactly what you mean about having high hopes for a post HSG bfp (Christ, when did my life turn into talking in acronyms?!! Anyway, I digress...). Bugger about the spotting and falling temps , I really hope the consultant is able to push things forward for you. Although, as an aside, I've read that the HSG can have a positive effect for 2 cycles post scan so there's always next month...

How are you feeling MrsH? Pleased to hear you sounding a bit more chilled about things. Have my fingers crossed for a late egg for you! Nice to hear you had a lovely trip to visit the newborn, although totally understand your reticence (sp?) re your friends who are due the same time as your ep would've been, heartbreaking stuff.

Ei - yay for a brilliant Dr. Really really hope this is the start of good things for you. As I'm finding out to my cost, the sooner you're 'in the system' the better. Let us know when you get the referal through.

As I said before, I'll be giving PALS a ring tomorrow, also DH and I have compiled a complaint email to send (DH works with people with learning dificulties and is vv au fait with the NHS and lodging complaints). He's been reasonably patient up until now but, seeing as the results haven't turned up in the post (am slightly but not sure why I expected any better really), he's beginning to lose it over the whole thing.

I just feel totally disheartened. Need to inspect the NICE guidelines as to what should happen - finding it quite difficult to understand why my treatment has varied soooo much in comparison to others on MN. Made me feel quite despondent about ttc actually, like there really isn't any point in it all anymore .

Need to pull my socks up and start fighting I guess!

Caitni · 28/01/2009 12:35

Hi ladies,

Ei so so glad to hear that things are moving in the right direction for you, referral wise. Having a sympathetic GP makes such a world of difference. Am still hoping you get a natural BFP before the appointment, but at least you know things are moving forward for you and your family

MOB nearly 15 weeks - gosh, time is flying! So glad to hear all is well with the chicklets after the scare in December, though you poor thing with the SPD, take care of yourself...and you are indeed my beacon of hope when it comes to IVF overcoming sperm problems though have still got such mixed feelings that IVF is looming on our horizon (why can't our bodies just bloody work, caitni whines, like all the other effing fertile people in my family!)

MrsH good to hear you sounding philosophical about your friend's baby...I still just use my weird points system when deciding which preggo friends and family I'm genuinely happy for and who I have to put on a brave face for . And I hereby command your egg to stay put until Sat

Madoldbird · 28/01/2009 11:02

First of all... Sorry, sorry, sorry ladies for being AWOL for so long. Also sorry to have worried you all. Everything is fine, it's just that, rather like MrsH, we have a lot of "non-baby" stuff going on in our lives ATM, and i am also, quite frankly, SHATTERED most of the time!!!! These babies are definitely making their presence felt, as the sickness hasn't eased up much, and i also have SPD (which has started very early) meaning i have a lot of pain. Unfortunately, therefore, i have been neglecting mumsnet!! Everything, however, is absolutely fine with the chicklets. I am almost 15 weeks and they looked great at the scan a couple of weeks ago. We are finally starting to relax a little since the awful scare after Christmas.

Anyway, enough about me . I have only just skimmed through the last couple of weeks news - so forgive me if i have missed anything.

Caitni I am so pleased that the HSG showed that you had lovely plumbing. I do understand what you mean about hoping in a way that it would find something, but, at the same time, it means that hopefully "all" that is standing in your way is a low sperm count. Not that i am trying to play down all the difficulties that your DH has been through, but my DH & I are a good example of how a low sperm count can be very easily overcome with IVF! I've lost track a bit - have you moved now??

MrsH Glad that the procedure went well, and that your insides are looking lovely. What happens now though? Do you have a follow up appt with the consultant to talk about options?

PnM I am so on your behalf, at the delay yet again in your follow up appt. It is utterly unacceptable, and means that the results they look at will be months old. Let alone the impact on you and DH emotionally. Emailing the consultant sounds like a good idea. Also, have you spoken to PALS (patient advice and liaison service)? They can be very good at sorting out this sort of thing. You may well have done, but just incase you haven't their number is: 01243 831822.

EI Sounds like you have a good new GP - who is taking your ttc difficulties seriously. I am very impressed at the weightloss - brilliant!

Bucky I am so sorry to hear that your first clomid month was unsuccessful, but keep at it. Miami sounds wonderful (!) Definitely keep taking the clomid and book in for the blood test on CD19 - by then, although the levels won't be at maximum, it should give a good indication whether or not you have ov'd.

Well, i promise to try and not leave it so long until i'm back. By the way - Bucky, thank you for your message via FB (yes it is me) but that was from when i registered many years ago, with my old email address, and i can't even remember my password etc to get back into it. However, i have just re-registered, with a new email address, so i must get up and running with that, and keep up with you all on there. Trouble is, i haven't really got a clue about FB, all i know is i have nothing on my "wall" and i don't have any friends yet!!!!

MrsHappy · 27/01/2009 22:08

Hi ladies

Sorry I have not been about. I have had lots of things going on, none of which are anything to do with ttc and so I have been concentrating on other parts of my life for once!

CD13 for me. I am hoping that ovulation holds off until Saturday (CD17) because my DH is away and won't be back until Friday. Arg! It would be sod's law if my egg appeared tomorrow. And I have EWCM. Oooh heck. I am hoping that getting stressed about it will keep that eggy away!

Today I went to see a friend who gave birth last week (while I was under anaesthetic, oh the irony) and actually it was fine. Newborn babies are kind of dull but it was good to see her looking so well. I am not sure I will feel the same when other friends decide to sprog in May (when ep no2 would have been born) but I am feeling kind of chilled about the whole thing. I think part of me is starting to accept that it might not happen for me and that does make things easier.

Right enough about moi...

Caitni did the move go well and are you settled into North London?

Bucky day 19 is the new day 21, don'tchaknow. When are you off to Miami?

Ei I am glad to hear your doctor is being helpful. Fingers crossed for a quick appointment.

PnM are you feeling ok? That hospital is shocking, I think. I can't help wondering whether there is some guideline about how soon you should be seen after a test. I cannot imagine that waiting the best part of a year is acceptable. Might go do some research later...

Finally, has anyone seen MOB? She seems to have disappeared around the time of her 12 week scan and now I am worried. Mob, if you are lurking, get in touch. I want to know you're ok.

Bucky2008 · 27/01/2009 20:42

Ei I am glad you got such a positive response from your new doctor. Lord knows you have had rubbish ones up until now!

It is really quiet on here. I miss everyone. What are you all doing? CD10 here already!

hi ladies
jeez it quiet in here recently
well things are looking up as i went to see the doctor today (iv got ANOTHER kidney infection) and had a good chat about our TTC difficulties and she was lovely (its a new doctor as we moved surgery!) very supportive and she offered to refer me straight away to subfertility clinic as she said theres no point in me wasting time doing tests that they will do anyway she was very happy about my wieghtloss (as am i) and said to keep up the good work she also said that looking at old results of blood tests i may have hormonal imbalance and she would like them to look at PCOS specifically so she has included that in her referral hopefully i will have my appointment through in a few weeks and we can start to sort this mess out i never thought i would be hapy to be referred for fertility testing but it seems like a light at the end of this long tunnel
hope everyone is having a nice time away from here (has everyone gone and got lives and left me here still looking for mine??) love and higs

Caitni · 23/01/2009 19:39

Hi all

MrsH sorry you're feeling like poo though am glad to hear of your smooth & beautiful womb ...I hope you don't feel bad that it's good in there IYKWIM. At the HSG, I was kind of disappointed to have good tubes - I know that sounds utterly mental, but I was hoping to have an explanation for why we haven't conceived yet. Of course now I'm very happy (one less thing to worry about) but on the day itself I was a bit that our struggle to conceive didn't have an "easy" answer...anyway, don't want to ramble on too much my soon to be nearly neighbour (yay!), but really hope you're doing OK xx

Ei sorry to hear that AF showed up
, especially as it was late this month wasn't it? Double ...still, shall be hoping that this cycle is your month!

PnM also sorry hear that AF showed up - must have been gutting...though thanks for the positive vibes - am indeed 7dpo now! I think it's good that your test results will be sent to you, as then at least you don't have to struggle to get your hands on your own records. You'd also be armed with the relevant info in case you decide to do what MOB did and just book a one-off consultation with a private consultant as a way of finding out what your options are. I'm not sure about around Chichester, but in Brighton I could have gotten a private initial consultation for not much more than a hundred pounds...

Bucky I agree with PnM and reckon you did the right thing by taking the tab as soon as you remembered. Am keeping my fingers crossed and sending you many positive vibes that this month you get a BFP! I must say Miami would be one of my top picks of places to go to take my mind off the TWW

MOB am sure all is fine, but am getting a little worried at your silence! Hope that all is well with you

Our packing has gone swimmingly, to the point where we've just had a lovely takeaway and are off to Slumdog Millionaire now as we've been pretty much all packed since this morning. Even got to fit in a last driving lesson with my lovely instructor! Tis been remarkably hassle-free so far...And some friends are coming around to the new place tomorrow evening to welcome us to our new 'hood (which is already their 'hood ).

I've also decided to go along to the NHS consultant app on the 2 Feb. I thought about canceling it, but it would take ages to get another one through a new GP in London. So I'll just pop back for an afternoon and see what he says. I feel like I'd be a fool to skip some free medical advice, especially as moving's expensive!

Anyway, back to my glass of wine. Hope everyone has a good weekend - I'll log back on as soon as we're set up in the new gaff.
caitni xx

PicknMix · 23/01/2009 08:06

Just did a v quick google for you Bucky and everyone seems to say if you miss a pill just take it as soon as you remember and then carry on as usual. I would prob ring the hospital and just double check with them though - the chances are, the person you speak to wont read your notes and wont know about the missed day21 test.

Sorry to hear bout af arriving for you too Ei, nice that we're cycle buddies tho! Oh, and I re- read my post earlier - no idea why I put a after my fb comment, it was meant to be a , the wink looks a little sinister!!

Really pleased to hear about your smooth innards MrsH, hope you're feeling bit less poo today x

Just rushing in...gotta get ready for work but :

Glad all went ok MrsH
Sorry AF turned up PnM

I am freaking out this morning because I have been taking my clomid at night about 10pm. Last night I went out got back really late and went straight to bed forgetting to take it . I took it this morning but now I have probably buggered everything up and i am really embarrassed to ring the hospital as they will probably doubt how seriously I am taking this whole thing, what with no Day 21 test and now this!!!

hi ladies
PnM so sorry AF turned up but -- silver lining mine did too so we are cycle buddies and i have been mighty lucky in the past with my cycle buddies so fingers crossed you never have to write that email to your crappy consultant
mrsH glad to hear you are all smooth inside (armadillo!!!) get better soon
bucky @ miami can i come too??
caitni hope you are ok
and a big hello to everyone else

MrsHappy · 22/01/2009 19:12

Hi
A quickie cos I feel like poo, but I hope the move goes smoothly, nearly-neighbour Caitni.

My procedure went fine. I can't call it an op because once they got in my uterus was smooth and beautiful and perfect and there was nothing to chop. So now we can get on with knitting a new sprog.

Be back some other time whEN i FEEL BETTER.... (sorry re caps.)

PicknMix · 22/01/2009 19:10

Evening all,

I'm sorry for posting and running the other day. Things are crazy hectic with my job and I spent most the evening in tears last night - surprise surprise pissing period turned up last night. Good timing eh ?

Bugger - I meant to post this morning to say I hope all goes well today MrsH at your op. Let us know how it went when you're up to it. I'm sorry you're going through the mill a bit as well at the moment . Sadly have no advice but can empathise wholeheartedly - rant and rave as much as you want to on here if it helps.

It helps more than you know to have you guys championing my cause - Bucky your post made me which was no mean feat! Just for naming and shaming purposes its Chichester Hospital. Total idiots all of them. Had a call yesterday (which I missed due to working) from the consultants secretary (points for actually ringing me back) saying they'd send my test results in the post. [Hmm]. So I get to see my results but have no one to discuss them with. Brilliant.

Have decided I will wait until they arrive then make an appt with my Dr to see if she can decipher them. Will also take your advice MrsH and get an email address for the consultant. Have many offers from friends/family to pay for a private consultation which I will make use of, it just grates that I pay literally thousands in National Insurance but get nowt in return. Its the same consultant private or NHS in this area so effectively just paying to jump the queue.

Anyway.

Far too self absorbed sorry.

Def think getting your 21day test done on cd19 is the way to go Bucky, as Caitni says it would cost ££ to get it done in the USA. Still bout your trip to Miami!

Good luck with the move Caitni, glad to hear you've got some time off to sort it all. Must be stressful. You must be about 7dpo now? Am thinking positive thoughts for you x

Where are you MOB? Hope all is ok? Bit concerned bout you but hope its just RL getting in the way of your mnetting time!

How are you feeling Ei my little fb buddy ? Hope you're ok after your 'shocking' experience?

Caitni · 22/01/2009 09:47

Hi everyone

Things are crazy busy with me - moving Sat so today's my last day in the office til Tuesday - so just wanted to quickly say hello to everyone.

PnM hope you're feeling better - did you get through to anyone else in the end?

Bucky so jealous of Miami! I'd suspect that paying in the US for a prog test, simple as it is, may cost $$$ as your insurance probably wouldn't cover it and the US healthcare system is expensive. So going on the morning of your flight may be a better idea.

Ei any news from you?? Hope things are good

Big waves to MrsH and MOB and everyone else. Hope everyone's well

Bucky2008 · 21/01/2009 19:34

Bucky's rage has killed the thread .

OP posts:
Bucky2008 · 20/01/2009 21:51

Hmm, sorry bit of an outburst there! Haven't had one of those in a while! But really! PicknMix and Mrs Happy both get MASSIVE hugs and glasses of Bombay Sapphire with Slimline Tonic from me. Hmmph.

At least you have a boot cupboard PnM there is some sunshine in the world.

I realised after taking my first Clomid tab of this cycle that I am indeed going to miss my Day 21 blood test again as I will be in Miami...shall I say that again tee hee...I WILL BE IN MIAMI...Woo hoo. Anyway, methinks this will pee off the hospital so I am thinking of going on the morning of my flight CD19. Or I could pay on my hols , but the alcohol will probably mask any progesterone. Having said that, the last Day 3 test I went for I was pregnant and the hospital told me all my test were fine! They don't seem to have got any notes from my doctor about the MC, instills great confidence in their skills!

Anyway, I am being rubbish at doing shout outs these days. So hello to all my favo ladies. MOB stop trying to hide, I found you on FB , you know my stalking skills are legendary. There is no escape from the Buckster...come to our little meet up and let us meet the chicklets. xx

OP posts:
Bucky2008 · 20/01/2009 21:39

Right PnM what bloody hospital is it? I'm going round there to duff them up!!! . I am totally with you with the feelings of helplessness resulting from the total incompetancy and lack of interest demonstrated by the majority of people who work in most service industries. Why are so many people so shit???? and at the same time people who aren't shit are getting made redundant by the tens of thousands . Just f-ing stalk them PnM, ring them up every bleedin ten minutes until someone answers your question. Or I will. grrrr. It is totally unreasonable that any human being be treated the way you are being treated. Three years IS a long time, July is NOT acceptable and saying they will ring you back and then not even bothering to ring and tell you that the woman is not there is just plain DISRESPECTFUL AND INCONSIDERATE. . And breathe....>

"In with love, out with love, in with love out with love.....chant chant...."

OP posts:
Caitni · 20/01/2009 17:48

Oh PnM big big hugs to you. How horrible. I'm just so that you're being treated so terribly - having such a long delay to get results/next steps is just not on. It's January FFS - how on earth can it be at least half a year before you can see a consultant??

MrsHappy · 20/01/2009 16:38

Oh gosh, picknmix. They are bloody useless, aren't they?
Do you have your consultant's name? If so, can you try to find his or her email address? I would put something in writing if possible, that way maybe you wil get a better response.

I swear that some hospital workers are trained in putting people through to the wrong number and messing them about generally.

Have some ((((higs))))

PicknMix · 20/01/2009 15:51

I apologise in advance for the mememe ness of this post but I think I'm about to lose the plot.

I've spent the afternoon on the phone to my hospital trying to find out why my appt has been shifted to June. I've been pushed from pillar to post, spoken to 4 separate people and am still none the wiser.

Am now sat in toilets at work crying my eyes out. Why the fuck does it have to be so difficult?

By the time I actually see the consultant it will be 2.5yrs of ttc , 3yrs of using no protection.

One lady told me she'd get the consultants secretary to ring me back this afternoon, 2hrs later I've heard nothing so ring them only to find she's not actually at work today.

Another lady helpful told me 'well, if you want to rearrange the appt the next available date I have is for 16th July'. Are they trained at Lets Piss PnM Off School or somewhere?

Will be back later once I've wiped away the snot and can reply to you properly without being quite so introspective.
