hi MrsH - just x posts with you . Well done for resisting CBD!! I salute your will power - roll on 3.5 weeks

Caitni · 20/02/2009 18:58

Hey GG glad to hear you've got a date for EC! And doing the Ovitrelle injection on Sunday night is good timing (better than rushing home from work!). Those wand probe things are pretty funny looking but isn't it just amazing to see your ovaries!!! Can I ask a really dopey question (forgot to ask the consultant ) but do they collect eggs from both ovaries? I'm assuming yes, but don't want to have an incorrect assumption . And great to hear about your continuing love of acpuncture...my DH goes for his first ever session tomorrow so am hoping he falls for it too

MrsHappy · 20/02/2009 18:52

OMG GG this is all happening so fast. It's really cool!

Caitni I am here too, but not got much to say. The "nausea" (if you can call occasional mild queasiness that) is really no big deal. Actually I would like to be projective vomiting 5 times a day if that would mean that this bean is safe.

Today I was in Boots and nearly bought one of those CBDs to tell me if my HCG is rising, but resisted. Can you imagine the panic if it was less far than it should be again? No, am just ignoring all that sort of thing until my next scan in 3.5 weeks!

Let me know if the Crouch End guy is any good. Now I am not working there is not much point in schlepping in to Mr Needles (although I think I still have 2 sessions paid for, so maybe I will go a bit) and Crouch End is just down the hill from me...

GorgonsGin · 20/02/2009 16:55

hello all

caitni you didn't kill the thread. How are the hydration levels? I love accupuncture. Seriously, i think i will continue it even if I get up the duff on IVF It zones me out and really relaxes me, so I'll have to convince myself I need it for emotional balancing reasons or somthing. I am clearly wierd! .

ei i am so sorry AF got you. It will be your month very soon. Hope you're managing to keep cheery despite your loss and all is well with you.

Quick me me me me update - I had yet another scan this morning (caitni - if you do it, you will spend your whole IVF life with your feet in stirrups with a cold wand pokign around your unmentionables ) then got called this afternoon saying that egg collection is rescheduled for Tuesday (day 13). Apparently my folicles are numerous but all different sizes, so they are hoping that a few more will grow nice and big if they wait until Tuesday. So i will be Ovitrelle-ing on Sunday night

Caitni · 20/02/2009 11:38

Get me and my amazing thead-killing abilities

Hope the silence means you're all enjoying Friday and hope you all have a lovely weekend

Caitni · 19/02/2009 16:55

PS Ei also meant to say sorry that AF arrived . Perhaps all the stress made you ovulate earlier than usual...

Caitni · 19/02/2009 16:54

Hi ladies,

Ei sorry that the funeral was so hard, but I really like the idea that your grandad will now make sure you get the DC you both want so much

GG hope you're doing well and the bloating's not too bad. Are you still scheduled for egg collection tomorrow? If so I hope the HCG shot wasn't too bad. A holiday post-ET is a great idea! You and your DH can relax together after the IVF rollercoaster (and just think of how tricky it'll be to travel with a baby ). I'm currently embroiled in reading lots of right-on books for a friend who works at a freedom of expression organisation (tis broadly enjoyable but I at times regret volunteering when I read yet more yawnsome prose about women's rights in whereever - and then I feel guilty as it's such a worthwhile cause! Aaargh!). Anyway, one of the books I really loved in 2008 was Evening is the Whole Day by Preeta Samarsan (she's just been shortlisted for the Commonwealth Writers' Prize). It's nice and long too so perfect for a holiday

MrsH while I'm glad to hear of the nausea (yay - symptoms!!) I'm also not happy to hear iykwim as it can't be pleasant...

Bucky I also bet you're still a slim lady (though wish I had clomid to blame for the stone I've put on since last Sept ). I'm so looking forward to our meet up - anyone got any good ideas for where to meet up?

PnM hello sweetie - hope you're well.

Waves to all our pregnant ladies - hope all the beans aren't making you too uncomfortable!

MrsH, I've been upping my water intake this week as on another thread you reminded me of Gerad Kite's top tips. In spite of the peeing I'm actually feeling quite good from it. I must confess to being v skeptical as the water nazies I work with generally put me off - I like to tell them I don't drink it at work because of the plastic bottles just to try and freak them out - but since work's given us all aluminium bottles and the web is full of advice to drink lots of water when preparing for IVF I thought I'd change my attitude...I'm also signed up to see a Five Elememts acupuncture guy in Crouch End next week (that's the type of acupuncture they do at the Kite Clinic I think but there's no way I'm paying those prices!!). So in spite of still being the size of a house I feel like I'm actually starting to get myself in shape for IVF .

HappyandEiknowit · 18/02/2009 20:55

hi ladies
AF arrived today earlier than expected on CD 29 which means a 28 day cycle for me which is totally unheard of in this part of town i was very surprised but it means if my lp was the same as usual our "well timed BD"-ing was totally too late so we had no chance anyway!! i was talking to DH and he reckons his pop(grandad who died recently) will make sure of our having another baby cos he was constantly asking us when we were going to give him another grandchild like our DD and now he will have a hand in the workings of nature its a sure thing haha
MrsH yay for the nausea!!
hello to everyone else
xx ei xx

MrsHappy · 18/02/2009 12:03

GG I'm not sure if the nausea is hormone-related or more sheer terror....

Going away after your transfer sounds like a good idea. I don't know what might come up that you would need your clinic's help with, since I guess after transfer there is little they can do to influence the outcome. One thing you might want to consider is whether, if the IVF doesn't work, are you going to stress that it was because you carried a heavy bag/ran to catch your flight/ate unusual food or something? If so, stay close to home. If not, go for it! (Not that I think anything the mother does really makes a difference following IVF, but it is about how you are going to feel IYSWIM).

Bucky I don't believe for a second that you are getting fat. Your idea of fat is probably my idea of post 1000 calorie per day diet for 6 months. Grr!

GorgonsGin · 18/02/2009 09:37

MrsH - you've got nausea, that's brilliant (well, it's not, but i think you know what i mean ). It sounds liek you are really looking forward to your lovely holiday in South Africa (I'm very at you!) It's good to get away from google for a holiday and have distractions. I know I would be the same - wanting to know everything, but yet scaring myself witless with the information.

Actually, DH and I are toying with the idea of going away for some or all of the 2WW after EC/transfer, to keep me away from computers, CBD's, symptom spotting and the mulitude of other TTC temptations/obsessions. Ei is probably laughing at me already - Judith's only back on this thread for a week and she's already banging on about holidays . i think it's ok to dream about going somewhere warm and un-taxing. We haven't been anywhere since our trip to Bali in September and we've been through the IVF mill since then, but I wonder whether we should stay close to clinic in case of questions/panic/emergency etc etc or whether I am being stupid and go go away and enjoy myself . All views appreciated! Bucky - we were thinking of Miami actually (warm, direct flight, lots to do, DH's close friend is there) - will pick your brains for tips

Ei - yesterday must have been really tramatic for you and your DH. The funeral a big event to get through and it will take time to get over, but we're all thinking of you. Are you coming to the meet up on 28th Feb?

Bucky - I bet Clomid isn't making you fat. You are so slim! I am ballooning up on this Gonal F, so I can sympathise with weight issues. It's supposedly all water retention (erm...and some cakes . Chocolate and cake have replaced gin and wine in my life), but I could hardly get my knee high boots on this morning, my tummy is all swollen and I have fat, puffy hands.

Big wave to caitni. I need a good book to read, and I know you are the lady to suggest something. Have you any suggestions? You and MrsH recommended Alias Grace last time and I love that book!!

Are you ok today picknmix? Please pop in and post here. We miss you.

hello to anyone missed!

Bucky2008 · 18/02/2009 08:56

That's OK MrsH, my whole life isn't shit, just the bit where I can't have a baby! . The rest of it is a bit of a party now that I don't even consider the 2ww a 2ww anymore! I read back a bit and glad that the bean is all fine and you are doing well. .

On a more vain note, I think the Clomid is making me fat! . It can't possibly be anything to do with all the food I ate in Miami and the copious amounts of cakes I eat...as I do this all the time .

I need my buddy PnM to come back, you are all WAY to happy, LOL . Aw, not really, its great to have lots of positive news at the moment. It's just crap that I will be the last one on the thread I started!!!!

OP posts:
MrsHappy · 18/02/2009 08:22

Ei I'm glad the funeral was ok-ish and that you and your DH are bearing up. It'll get better in time. (Oh god, I sound like Leona Lewis...)

GG get a load of your super ovaries! It's amazing to think they could be collecting eggs as soon as Friday. Kepp us posted, it's all eggstraordinary .

Bucky I'm sorry life is a bit shit right now. How are things in the Hut? There were a few times when I thought that we on this thread were starting to rival the Hut for gloom, but I guess we are not consistent enough on that front! (just call me Pollyanna). Are you still suffering from post-holiday angst?

I am starting to feel queasy and am trying to hide it from our nanny. I drove myself insant last night checking whether a 2.3mm sac is normal at this stage, but have decided that since uber-consultant told me everything is normal it must be so...
Thank god I am going away next week. Otherwise I think I would go insane sitting about and Googling!

HappyandEiknowit · 18/02/2009 00:15

hi ladies
just a quickie to say the funeral went as well as can be hoped for today but DH is a complete mess as am i to be honest but now that we have made it through today in one piece we can try and move forward.
MRSH congrats on the scan results
GG wowzer @ 14 follicles sounds like another full house on the way
xx ei xx

Bucky2008 · 17/02/2009 14:47

Meant 'our dcs' PnM, see I'm so decrepid I can't even write properly anymore, no wonder my eggs all shrivel up and disappear...

OP posts:
Bucky2008 · 17/02/2009 14:46

I'm here, just grumpy , so have absconded to the Hut of Gloom. Had to happen eventually!

MrsH, havent read up today, but glad you are feeling better about things and hope the scan goes/went well.

GG Yeeha, how exciting.

PicknMix...join me in a MASSIVE 'life is shit' (not even bothering with the asterix's (sp?)anymore)Hennessy on the rocks. Are dc's are sadists, making us suffer like this whilst they shang out living it up somewhere . In a perverse 'I shouldn't even say this' way, you did make me smile though. Our despondancy is almost comical now, the 'my body is officiallyshit' comment (and you know I know what you feel like) cracked me up. My body is a joke too, how bl*ody hard is it to have a baby???? Billions of people have done it before.

Caitni,RFN2&3,Ei, GG Hola to you all.

OP posts:
readyfornumber2and3 · 17/02/2009 14:27

MrsHappy Im really pleased for you and the bean certainly worth the fight to know things are good x

GG wow! that is fantastic news (sounds like you could well be adding to the twins on this thread ) Hope the egg collection goes well x

Caitni · 17/02/2009 14:22

GG it must be all the mini eggs you ate the other day

GorgonsGin · 17/02/2009 13:03

I am now very definitely eggcited . He he, caitni you make me laugh with your egg gags. It's like all my Easters have come at once

Hopefully that will mean a decent haul when it comes to the EC.

i am also feeling very bloated. Ovulation x 14 stylee bloated. That's more than a year's worth all at once!

Caitni · 17/02/2009 12:32

Eggscellent news GG! Fourteen follicles - wow! That's great and hoping that each one contains a lovely egg

So egg collection might be on Friday - that's so exciting!!! I'm so happy for you and your DH that the IVF is going so well so far and will be keeping my fingers firmly crossed for an eggstraordinary haul of eggs on Friday

GorgonsGin · 17/02/2009 12:28

woooo hoooo for mrsH - that is FANTASTIC news! You must be over the moon.

I have some quite good news too, which I suppose is another step towards a little bean (note to self - mustn't get my hopes up, tunnel vision, each day as it comes etc etc). The scan today went well and the sonographer was very informative and helpful. I am (apparently) responding really well to the drug treatment and have FOURTEEN ripe little folicles which will hopefully contain eggs . ha, take that nadya Suleman mother of octuplets

The hospital will phone me this afternoon with "The Next Steps" after my scan and blood test results are checked, but things could be happening as soon as Friday . Two years of treading water hoping for a BFP or facing another hospital appointment and now my life feels like it is on fast forward!

DH made me laugh when I told him how many folicles they'd spotted "Ha, now they just have to find fourteen champion swimmers amoungst my sperm that are up to the job now! Easier said than done"

will check in later and see how you are all doing.

GGx

Caitni · 17/02/2009 12:10

Yaaaaay for your good news MrsH
[caitni pops the non-alchoholic fizz and passes MrsH a glass of bubbles].

Here's to a healthy pregnancy!

MrsHappy · 17/02/2009 11:51

How did you go GG?

I have GOOD NEWS!

There is a bean, it is tiny (the right size for dates) and is in the right place. Of course there is still a significant risk of loss, as there would be for anyone, but the consultant said that when they are so easy to see this early that is a really good sign. I am booked in for another scan in 4 weeks to check that it has a heartbeat and in the meantime I am allowed to go on my holiday. Huzzah! One hurdle down, a least 36 more weeks to go!

Caitni · 17/02/2009 10:59

Just a quick note to say good luck to MrsH for your scan - sorry you had to fight to get it, but am glad you're finally getting the medical attention you need (roll on changing GPs!). I'll check back in later for some good news from you

GG good luck with the scan - try not to worry about OHSS - it's precisely why they're monitoring you so closely. I'm hoping it shows a lovely number of follicles developing nicely

PnM so sorry to hear about period arriving . Why do you think it's different (apart from being about 4 weeks earlier than last month )? As an aside, I'd have to disagree about resources being stacked against non-Londoners as Brighton/Hove was excellent - GP was wonderful, very simple to get bloods done at the polyclinic, HSG appointment letter came through within two weeks of being referred (and a simple chamlydia test instead of anti-bs) with results given on the day and the fertility referral came through very quickly (even when I had to cancel one because of snow a replacement one came through for less than 4 weeks later). This shows it can be done and should be done in the neighbouring PCT. Sorry if I'm a bit ranty (rushing as about to go into a meeting!) but it's heartbreaking to read about your (lack of) treatment. You're entitled to change GPs and there's a good chance you'll have a more sympathetic doctor to help you (as happened with Ei).

Ei to you - you can post anytime, especially as you are so good at cheering everyone else up when it's needed and we want to be here for you when you need us too...

Waves to Bucky (hope you're doing OK), RFN2&3 and MOB and everyone else

OK, got to run but am hoping for some good news from MrsH and GG later!!

readyfornumber2and3 · 17/02/2009 08:06

MrsHappy Just wanted to drop by and wish you well for your scan, hope they can see the bean (but like you say if they cant at least you are in the system)
[angry) at your gp though

GG Good luck today and hope things are going nicely in there for you

PnM Dont really know what to say but wanted to give you ((hugs)) and agree that a change of gp sounds in order

MrsHappy · 17/02/2009 07:45

GG lots of luck today. If you are getting overstimulated, presumably they can just reduce your dosage. I hope it goes well for you.

PnM It's crap that you are having a tough time getting the care that you need. But the good news is you are only 29. I know it doesn't feel like it but time is on your side to get this sorted. When I went to my private clinic to talk about the options my consultant nearly danced a jig when I told him I was 33. He said to me that there was plenty of time for me, and that most of their patients come when they are a lot older and it is harder to do anything for them. so I know it is shitty, but that is a (vaguely) bright side.

When I hear people are going for scans, in my head I do sometimes think "I hope it goes well for them", rather than assuming it is a done deal. One of my DH's friends told us his wife was 8 weeks pregnant and my response was along the lines of "are you crazy? Why are you telling people now?!" The upside of MN is the support you get, but the downside is knowing every possible thing that could go wrong in pregnancy. If this one is in the right place I am not sure when I will start enjoying it either; probably not until my 13 week scan at least. I wish I could go back in time and be how I was when I conceived DD. I got a +HPT, read some pregnancy books and never for a second thought anything might be wrong. The night before my 13 week scan I had a nightmare that there was nothing in there but that was it. maybe I was naive but ignorance really was bliss.

I'll be back later to tell you how the scan went. I think the most likely outcome is that they won't be able to see anything and I will start having bloods every 2 days etc again, but at least I will be in the system.
