OK, so how about we start of on a positive....

I bought the test.

I did the test.

BFP .

Job done.

GorgonsGin · 07/03/2009 16:41

readyfor2and3 - thanks for telling me about when you were PG with your DD . That makes me feel better. I can test "legitimately" on Tuesday.

Well, someone should slap me - hard. I did the test. My fingers were far too itchy to stop myself. I am crap with suspense.

BFN

I know, I know....it's really early and the test could be wrong, but I am now super pessimistic. I just don't think I am. I'll have to try again on Tuesday, if nothing else because I have to let the hospital know for their records, but I am probably out (again) this month . Feel like I've been kicked.

readyfornumber2and3 · 07/03/2009 16:26

GG When are you able to test and get a true answer? If it helps when I was pg with DS I didnt feel remotely pregnant and only tested to rule it out so was rather shocked to see the 2nd line!!
Hope the next few days pass quickly and that you get the BFP you so rightly deserve x

GorgonsGin · 07/03/2009 10:58

Someone stop me

I am fidgeting and trying sooooo hard to resist the temptation to pee on a stick this morning. DH is trying to persude me to wait until Monday night and distracting me with DVD's but this is really hard. I have lost all confidence that the IVF has worked and couldn't sleep last night for worrying. I just don't think I am PG . I don't feel it or sense it or whatever. The breast tenderness and bloated tummy has gone, exactly the same as when my period is about to start (although AF may not arrive for a while because of all the IVF drugs). Won't know until I test, but don't want to test too early either. Grrrr, this is the WORST 2WW ever

sorry for the rant

GorgonsGin · 06/03/2009 11:18

hello there everyone! It's a lovely sunny day where I am - hope it's gorgeous and spring like where you are too!

"BuckygoLucky - i can't wait for your next name change which will hopefully be BuckyGOTLucky* . Fingers crossed for you! I'm impressed at the giving up alcohol for March - you go girl! I did it for January, but fell off the wagon and only managed to reach 22nd without a drink . In the end probably only consumed about 3 glasses of wine that month, which is good going i think . You sort of lose the taste for drinking lots after a while and now I'm quite happy with a glass every so often, which I never thought I'd say, because i used to party hard and drink a LOT. The hardest thing for me was that I didn't want to go out with friends and NOT drink. Boring and I couldn't face people assuming I was up the duff because I had a soft drink and knowing looks/nudge nudge wink wink stuff .

Ei - That is fantsastic that your appointment went well and the scan showed no issue i am sorry about the IVF funding rules in your area It is such a postcode lottery with NHS funded assisted conception. It does sound like your doctor is excellent and thorough by making sure he covers everything off, which is a great bonus. Back to temping again!

caitni - otherwise known as Our Lady Of The Loo

mrsH - if you are loking in to the WIMBEWAI(N)F, hope you are having a fantastic time enjoying the fabulous weather in SA and the little bean is fine and dandy!

I am having a quiet weekend - DVD's and a trip to the flicks tomorrow night. We are trying to fill our nail biting weekend with suitably distracting, yet alcohol free, pursuits, that are nice and far away from any Boots and CBD temptation We are turning into a couple of right middle aged fogey types - museums, theatre, long walks in the park. And to think that i met Dh while drink at 2am in a karaoke pub. Ahhhh, them were the days (before TTC/IVF and CBD)

HappyandEiknowit · 05/03/2009 20:17

hi ladies
so my appointment went well the scan showed nothing obvious wrong with my womb and ovaries which is fab! the consultant had a look at my test results and it has been confirmed now that i have got APS and i will need treatment when i do eventually get pregnant!! he is being very thorough and has ordered a HSG to be done next cycle, he has given me a load of forms to have my bloods done for hormones at the start of my next cycle and he wants me to temp next cycle aswell so i can pinpoint ov and have a 'day 21' test the downside is...wait for it... we are not eligible for any funding for fertility treatment!! all because we have got a child!! that means ALL treatment options have to be paid for privately!! thats all drug regimes (clomid included) and all other treatment options are basically out for us as we cant afford the £400-£4000 pricetag!!
so its basically have the tests to see where we stand and then give up if we need further treatment i know im being greedy as i have already got DD but i just feel so sad when i think of her not having the little brother or sister she is constantly asking for well i suppose we will cross that bridge when we come to it and we hopefully never will come to it!
hope everyone is doing well
xx ei xx

I LOVE the new name BuckygoLucky

Waves to everyone else - I'm actually about to head into ANOTHER boring meeting [sigh] so must rush off again [double sigh]

BuckygoLucky · 05/03/2009 16:16

Thought I would change my name for 2009! Bucky2008 is so out of date!!

Bucky2008 · 05/03/2009 14:20

Yes GG I'm on the 2WW too...CD19 here though so crunch day is a little while after you find out! .

Quite boring here too though. I have decided, (you better all sit down for this one), that I am not going to drink alcohol for whole month. Yes, March is a dry month for Bucky . What with all the commercial networking and then going out with my friends I was beginning to feel like I was on a constant bender. So I am taking time out.

I second what GG said about our cyber neices and nephews. Great that they are all growing up and that you have settled into graduate life .

Aw, I wish this month I could have a BFP ! Surely its my turn NOW???? . Ah well, I'm not hopeful but we'll see. xx

mibbes and jolly - . It only seems 5 minutes since we were all symptom spotting with you two . You sound like you are both thriving as a mum, and your little DS and DD's are thriving too!

LOL that now your babies is all healthy and chubby (as all babies should be with lovely squashy arms and legs ) that he looks like you now . Who do you think he looks like?

Mibbes - I had forgotten you lived in lovely Sirling. My best friend lives in Riverside and it is a great city. I'm very jealous, as I'd love to move back north. I'm working on DH to agree as he is a Sassenach. Maybe if the IVF works, i will have more ability to persuade him ) Hope you are loving the maternity leave and getting a little more sleep.

Ei - good luck with your appointment later this afternoon and please come back and tell us what happened.

Is anyone else on the 2WW? Nothing much to report here. No symptoms and just a waiting game. It's quite boring really - no drinking, being good to myself with early nights, twiddling my thumbs until test day. It feels like waiting for your exam results -the anti-climax after studying like mad and then doing nothing while you wait to to find out if you've passed . There isn't even the customary post exam p*ss up to enjoy

caitni - woweee, 2.5 litres a day! You probably have to snatch a few minutes to post between loo visits

Bucky - any news from you?

Big hello to ready and anyone else missed and everyone else!

HappyandEiknowit · 04/03/2009 22:41

mibbes · 04/03/2009 21:39

Hello ladies !

Quick post to say that I agree that Bucky has BD'd at the perfect time - as JB so wisely says, you should BD when the EWCM is abundant so that the swimmers are alive and kicking wheh the egg pops out , I'll be watching with interest...

GG am so excited for you and also and your naughty DH - men are just so rubbish sometimes - arrggh !

JB I have had similar comments - when DS was tiny and skinny everyone said how much he loooked like his dad, now that he is chunky and quite frankly a porker, everyone comments on his likeness to me !!! How rude , I mean I know I have a few pounds to shift but there is no need for that !!

Caitni LOL at your geeky water drinking

All well here - BFing still a bit hit or miss painwise but far better than before. It must be working though as like DG's DS, my DS has gone from ickle 9th centile to 50th all on my boobies . Also getting more sleep over here which makes life so much easier .

Caitni · 04/03/2009 11:00

Morning ladies

GG hope you're feeling good today . I wouldn't worry about the lack of symptoms, they don't kick in until the 5-6 week mark. I'm still keeping my fingers crossed that the little beans are snuggling down well . I'm feeling very positive for you. And glad to hear you're stepping away from Google! Your poor DH though - he must be mortified. Has he gone off to Germany now?

Bucky sounds like you had plenty of action at the right time. I think it varies, but for me EWCM definitely dries up before I ov. And don't stress out about having a social life - according to the consultant I saw about IVF it's vital

JollyBear I was giggling at the comment made at your post-natal group . Though it's lovely that your DD looks like you

Ei hope you and your DH are doing well.

PnM hope things are good with you. I was reading this article yesterday about owls delivering rings at weddings (at which I was very ) and was thinking of you and your noisy owl neighbours

Waves to MrsH (hope the holiday's fab!) and MOB and RFN2&3 and DigitalGirl and everyone

Nothing interesting to report here - I'm still sticking to the 2.5l of water a day recommended by my acupuncturist. I've gone all scientific on it, totally indulging my geek side (measured how much each of our glasses at home hold and how much my work water bottle holds ). And on that note best be off to fill my water bottle...tis an exciting life I'm leading

JollyBear · 03/03/2009 15:17

Afternoon all,

GG As I read your earlier post I thought I bet Mr GG doesn't remember telling people . My DH has a very similar problem after a few drinks. Poor you. It must be really hard not to be sharing this experience with anyone (except us ). I bet your DH feels dreadful. Now step away from google for that is where madness lies. It is going to take nerves of steel not to give in to the first response! Good luck. I'll be biting my nails in anticipation of your news!

Bucky TCOYF says that you should BD when you have EWCM (even if that is a few days before you ov) as that is what sustains the sperm on their travels and while they are waiting for the egg to appear. So even if you ov a few days after the EWCM (when things have dried up) there should still be some spermies hanging around. That is better than bd'ing when you ov but without EWCM. I didn't know that before I read the book. Sounds like you've bd'ed at just the right time.

caitni That treatment sounds lovely, very relaxing indeed.

Hello to everyone!

DD aka the Jollycub is fine. Someone at a post natal group yesterday said she had my cheeks which is basically telling me I have a fat round face!

GorgonsGin · 03/03/2009 13:45

but the swimmers can front crawl up there for a day or two after BD-ing. i think you are doing brilliantly with days 10, 12 and 14!

Yes, I must stop googling and obsessing! That website was designed to put the frightners on you and dissuading IVF-ers from getting anything other than single embyro transfers, all in the name of money, I think.

Bucky2008 · 03/03/2009 12:04

But yesterday was CD16 GG , not sure if I did catch the egg!

Like I said in my email, lots of people don't get symptoms for ages so don't think that means it didn't work. You won't know until you test and I feel v. positive about it for you. Re twins....hmm, guess all you can do is wait and see, but I'm sure it won't be more than 2! That is quite rare, or at least you really don't hear about it often. Stop Googling (says the Queen of Googling).

I am a bit annoyed that I didn't finish off my programme of BDing this month....I was really going to make an extra effort and I have b*ggered it up again....arrrrgh. What must you all think of me.

OP posts:
GorgonsGin · 03/03/2009 11:13

Bucky - I think your EWCM finishes just before you ovulate (please someone correct me if I am wrong ), so I'd say that you caught the egg . And as for being a lush, you have to have a life too and if that involves impromptu drinks mid-week for fun, I'd say go for it! In fact i am dead jealous!

caitni - love the sound of the holistic approach an dyour treatment last night. I know accupuncture is supposed to work very well for TTC/IVF etc, but I liked doing it for the pampering and relaxation it gave me. I've never had the moxha herbs.

Had a tense evening with DH last night, because I was feeling too worn out to fight, but he seems very ashamed and claims he doesn't remember telling anyone anything about us TTC and going for IVF. He seemed as shocked as I was, in a way, and very embarrassed because he didn't want to tell anyone, especially as it was ICSI, so male factor infertility and he doesn't know the husband of my friends very well. I believe him because he does have memory lapses when he drinks

I certainly don't feel PG or any different, so I am now wondering whether the ICSI has worked and the little blighters implanted . I swing between grin resignation that it was all for nothing and panicking like mad about having twins or even triplets (apparently the eggs they put back are six times more likely to divide spontaneously into identical twins than normal . I found that out on a website called something like oneisenough.com. I MUST stop scaring myself!)

Next Tuesday is Test Day unless my resolve to stay away from the First Response withers and dies before then

hello to MOB, picknmix and MrsH if you are looking in.

Bucky2008 · 03/03/2009 08:59

Hope you are feeling a little happier today GG. I know what you must feel like, I had a similar event last year when I found out that DP had a secret that I was unaware of. Not the same thing but the feeling on being let down was much the same.

It was probably a one off and the fact he didn't tell you would suggest either he a) didn't think anything of it or b) he did and knew he shouldn't have done it . Anyway, I just wanted to say I think you were well within your rights to be so upset but he is only human and we all make mistakes. (higs).

My ov pains have gone. I am a little confused by my cycle this month. OK prepare for TMI. On day 12 & 13 I had EWCM so we BD'd on 10, 12 and 14...we supposed to do it again yesterday, but being the total lush I have become I went out after work and rolled in after midnight when DP was asleep . That said the CM had already dried up so I don't know if that was ovulation yesterday . Do you ov whilst you have EWCM or after it?

OP posts:
Caitni · 02/03/2009 20:41

Back from my acupuncture and it was totally different from the traditional chinese medicine type Mr Needles does. A detox session involving needles in the back, lots of burning moxha, a different type of needles in the wrists...it felt much more like a treatment...apparently my pulses are very good

Anyway, off to watch this "grow your own drugs" show!

GorgonsGin · 02/03/2009 16:16

Good luck at your accupuncturist! Hope you feel lovely and relaxed afterwards

Caitni · 02/03/2009 11:34

Oh GG that's just terrible - you're perfectly right to be furious . That text message was just too fishy, bloody interfering "friend" . This is the last thing you need right now, so please rant away (and big higs to you too). I obviously don't know your DH, but it sounds like it was a drunken moment of weakness (especially as he wasn't drinking for ages last year was he? Bloody champagne is like rocket fuel if your tolerance is lower than normal). I can't imagine he'd do this knowingly, as he'd know it's a betrayal of your decision...

Bucky sorry to hear about the ov pains, sounds like time to neck a couple of painkillers (though at least you know the clomid's working!).

I really enjoyed the meet-up - well done to Bucky for organising it! We did indeed miss those not present, but hopefully it won't be too long before we all meet up again! I went on to be (reasonably) sensible watching Ireland (barely) beat England at the rugby, so wasn't even hungover yesterday. rather tragically, that's an achievement for me! I've got my first proper needles session with my new acupuncturist tonight, quite looking forward to it

GorgonsGin · 02/03/2009 10:40

sorry, forgot to say a big hello to everyone else who was at the lunch and also to say to ei and MOB that we missed you both.

How was the rugby caitni?

GorgonsGin · 02/03/2009 10:21

Bucky - fantastic lunch and thank you for organising everyone else. It was great to see everyone again. Sorry you are in OV pain! Is the Clomid makign things doubly bad? Hope you had a nice weekend!

I am logging on for a bit of a rant. In fact i am in floods of tears and I am sooo upset and angry. I think I mentioned that I had had a strange text from a friend alluding to "tough times you are going through" and being supportive. She was definitely talkign about IVF. I simply couldn't work out how she could possibly know because I hadn't told her or ANYONE else, other than you lovely ladies and one very old friend who lives in Inverness and knows no one else! DH only told hi sboss because he had to. It is an absolutely totally private thing for me.

Anyway, I sent an email to her saying I appreciated her text, but I was absolutely fine, which i think i am and chatted away about what else we have been up to, her little one, her returnign to work. She emailed straight back to say that she was sorry if she had got the wrong end of the stick but:

"After [DH] told [her husband] and [another friend's husband] at the wedding in December that you were having trouble conceiving and were starting IVF in February, we were thinking of you and just wanted you to know that we are all [insert list of 15 friends] are thinking of you....."

How COULD DH do that to me and us??!! We AGRREED it was absolutely private. Not even my mum or sisters know!

He was very drunk at this wedding due to lavish amounts of champagne and glasses being constantly topped up, but what he said is inexcusable. He wasn't even confiding in anyone - he doesn't bl**dy know them that well! he was just drunkenly spouting off about our conception problems in public. I am so upset sitting here I have tried to call him but he is in meetings all day.

Bucky2008 · 02/03/2009 09:20

It was great to see everyone on Saturday .

I am just logging on to have a moan today. I am obviously ovulating because I am in agony!!! I seem to recall this the first month, but it hurts...like more than cramps! Arrrggghhhh.

Hope everyone else it ok today. x
