Hello ladies,

GG You don't sound like a spoilt brat at all. Of course it is a lot of money but the benefits certainly outweigh the cost of being seen quicker and starting treatment again. How are things with your DH now?

PnM I would follow caitni's advice and temp for a cycle and see what's happening. It should confirm you are ov and how long your LP is. It is rubbish that you can't see someone sooner about this. Are you still thinking about going private?

caitni LOL at the bunny comment! Ugh! Enjoy your break.

Sorry not to say hello to everyone individually, I have to go as I need to try and get a grumpy jollycub to have a bottle. She now has 2 teeth and had her jabs this morning, not a good combo!

GorgonsGin · 08/04/2009 15:35

Mrs H - good luck with the in-laws visiting! Don't let them raise your blood pressure any higher Are they the sort of in-laws where you can relax and let them get on with making their own cups of coffee or are you going to be rushing around after them? I am lucky that my in-laws refuse to leave their home town to visit us (London = too scary)

picknmix - yes definitely POAS and let us know the result. Fingers crossed for you. I knew that someone more knowledgable than me would be along soon

I'm going to get my rant deleted off the thread soon. makes me sound like a spoilt brat

Bucky are you about today. What's happening with you?

GorgonsGin · 08/04/2009 15:27

caitni - I am so jealous of your camper van holiday to Wales. We crossed messages before, so didn't get a chance to say in my last post. I hope you have a lovely time and the weather is good for you (no rain). If not, I'd find a lovely cosy, romantic pub and snuggle up to your DH with some Welsh beer

You would have laughed at me yesterday, doing my best Glasgow Fishwife impersonation in the middle of the street

Grrrr, sorry for the rant I spoke to Westminster PCT and - amazingly - doing a single private cycle won't affect my eligability for my one further NHS funded cycle. So in some ways yesterday's fight was a storm in a tea cup, but it wasn't really about funding. It was about a very unsupportive DH, who won't go the extra centimeter to make this easy.

MrsHappy · 08/04/2009 14:42

GG if that was my DH I would be ready to kill him. You are absolutely right to be livid. If it is a question of simple economics, you might want to remind him that living in central London you are quite possibly going to fork out in excess of £250k to raise your child to the age of 18 and if he won't even put his hand in his pocket now he is in for one hell of a shock. And so bloody what if you lose your NHS entitlement? It is one go. You won't even need it if the private attempt works out. What I would be wondering in your shoes is whether this is a question of simple economics or whether it is that he needs a bit more time. If it is just the money, well I say you write the cheque and deal with the consequences later. Actually I am furious on your behalf and you can tell him so from me. But am very glad that the appointment went well. I have heard about Mr Lavery (and considred seeing him myself when I was looking for investigations, except I ddn't want to go to the Hammersmith) and he has a good reputation, so I hope he can get things sorted for you.

Caitni again at your camper van adventures. Can I maybe borrow (rent) your van one day?

PnM I guess you are worried that you aren't ovulating. I agree with Caitni that you should POAS for a start. If that is negative then I would start temping again to see what happens and maybe ask the GP to check my thyroid (has anyone ever done that?). But I can't think what might be causing your erratic cycles. I doubt it is the HSG. I did have a strange cycle the month of my HSG in that I spotted on and off all cycle, but after that they returned to normal. I've posted the pre-seed and OPKs today - hope they reach you soon.

Ei I too have a feeling that your turn is coming up. Let's hope so!

Right, higs to the rest of you. My in-laws are going to show up any second, so I have to finish sorting out their room...

Caitni · 08/04/2009 12:55

oh GG I am so sorry that you had such a great consultation that was ruined by such a horrible row [hugs].

You're perfectly right to be livid, as you're recovering from the hormonal and emotional highs & lows of IVF and a m/c. As well as the trials of long term ttc! I'm so for you that your DH sprung this on you as you were literally stepping out of such a positive app...Bloody men! I'm afraid I can't offer anything beyond you talking about it once you've both calmed down. You and your DH have a good marriage (you've already been through one round of IVF, which is further than a lot of relationships get!) and you'll work this out. And fingers crossed that you can both start a private cycle and stay on the NHS list (and you can then take yourselves off the NHS list once the next round works [positive thinking emoticon]).

GorgonsGin · 08/04/2009 11:55

I can't BLOODY believe it. I just typed a huge long message and now it has been deleted . I don't need MN to add tomy stress levels

hello to everyone!!

picknmix - I don't really know much about the hsg shot and how that would have affected your cycle, but i am sure that someone with betterknowledge than me will be along. have you posted a thread anywhere else (general Health?0 and see if any doctors could shed some light on it? I think it is terrible that you are in the situation when your local health systems ar eso crap you don't even want to phone them with a legitimate medical question. i am for you! How did it go seeing yoru dad for the first time in 2 years - was it wierd seeing him and did it go ok?

MrsH - that is brillaint you have found such a great consultant who is also a legend. You will be the envy of everyone and I am so pleased you are feeling upbeat about the midwives and medical staff. When is your due date? So thrilled for you after all the ectopics and trauma you have been through.

Bucky - looking forward to lunch, but I think you will have to keep me away form an afternoon of downing glasses of wine Not long now until your appointment with the hospital.

caitni - how are the needles going? Is your Lister cycle going to be in June?

hello to ei - BIG wave. And hi to anyone else lurking.

The consultant appointment at Hammersmith went splendidly yesterday . I saw Mr Lavery, who is fantastic - exactly the sort of doctor where you just instantly feel confident and comfortable, with none of the patronising or money grabbing that can be expected with some private doctors i have encountered. I felt on cloud 9 yesterday as he went through my ICSI cycle ("practically perfect, except for the final result") and also that we could start in June, he was confident of success because the embryo(s?) had implanted and recommeded going for blastocyst transfer next time. DH said he thought that Mr Lavery was fantastic too, so I came out the appointment feeling so, so much better

BUT the happy feeling lasted about 5 minutes . I couldn't post before now, but then DH announced that he was happy to go ahead with a privately funded cycle in June, but ONLY if we didn't lose our NHS second cycle entitlement. If we did lose NHS entitlement, then I'd have to wait until I got to the top of the queue again (best guess October) .

I don't think i have EVER lost my rag, with anyone, like that before. I was absolutely, fit to be tied, furious with him and cue a HUGE stand up row. A fish-wife style screaming argument between us, walking along North Pole Road, W10 at about 5pm last night . I am still shaking with rage typing this now. I am so angry with him. I have put in some urgent calls to Westminster PCT this morning to find out the exact situation, but even if we do get another HNS funded cycle after goign private, that is not the point. It is HIM!

I can't believe he is so mean and tight fisted and heartless over all this, I really can't. Am I over-reacting??!! He says he won't pay £5000 for a private cycle if we lose the NHS one, because £5000 is "a lot of money and i am not wasting money" . I really don't want to be crass and insensitive about finances, because I know that £5000 is a lot of money, but I can't think of how else I can illustrate this, without mentioning cash, so I will . Anyway, (deep breath) DH is a wealthy man by anyone's standards, 'cept Russian oligarchs, and he could fund 20 x cycles tomorrow without blinking and he won't. I am blown away by his selfishness and nasty minded mean-ness and lack of understanding for everything I am going through.

He is SO mule-like, so utterly STUBBORN that I know he absoutely will not budge on this. He is completely unpersuadable on any sort of rationale arguement I have tried (I am a qualified advocate for god sake!), so that leaves me with some very, very hard choices about our relationship. I even shouted FTC was his fault (which it is) so he should be supporting me and understanding at everything I was going through. Nothing.

i am so upset and angry (how many times have I used that word in this post??) Oh god, that is the most mememememememe post I have ever seen. I am really sorry

Caitni · 08/04/2009 11:30

Hi ladies

GG I hope yesterday went swimmingly. Looking forward to hearing when you start your new cycle. Hope work's not too busy - roll on the long bank holiday weekend!

PnM at your changed cycles. I don't think it's anything to do with your HSG, as that can't change cycles. The main thing I'd suggest is temping, to try and pinpoint exactly when you're ovulating. Short cycles are generally not annovulatory and my own ones (cycles usually 23-25 days) are caused by ovulating around days 11-13. But the other thing I'd suggest is POAS...the very light bleeds could be masking something else (but I'm not even going to say the P word!) as the lack of ov pains/CM and constant sore boobs makes me suspicious (feel free to ignore me though)...and at your sh*t doctors. It still makes me so when I think of the shoddy way you're being treated.

MrsH yay for the legendary consultant! You deserve it after the rollercoaster you've been on to get to this stage . Thanks for the vits - Bucky's put us in touch on FB so I shall message you shortly.

Bucky sorry that work is still a p*sser. At least it's keeping your mind off ttc . I've also been comedy busy myself but today's my last day in the office til next Wed, the sun is shining through the window and I'm finding it seriously hard to be arsed to do anything!

Ei how are you doing missus? I have a very good feeling about you this month. I had some very vivid dreams on Sun night and in one of them I was checking MN ( how sad am I, I dream about it!!) and you had just gotten a BFP. I'm going to be keeping my fingers firmly crossed

Waves to all our preggo ladies and graduates - hope everyone's thriving, bumps and babies alike

We're off in the camper van tomorrow and just can't wait to get away with DH. Really excited by our English/Welsh road trip . We're back Monday, so shall check in on everyone then, but have Tues booked off work too. In the meantime, I hope everyone has a very happy Easter!!! (sorry, but I find the bunny ear emoticons too freaky to use - they're like cartoon playboy porno bunnies to me!! Particularly this one )

PicknMix · 07/04/2009 22:57

Evening all,

How are we all doing tonight?

GG how did the appt go today? Hope all was ok?

Hello Ei, how are you doing?

Sorry to hear about the high blood pressure MrsH although am pleased to hear you're feeling confident about the ante-natal care you will be getting, must be a huge relief for you. And yay for the legendary consultant !

Wimbewaifers, I need some advice. Ever since my hsg I've noticed my periods have changed. Apologies for tmi but they've become really light and I have no pain - no cramps etc. Boobs sore but mostly throughout the month, not just the week running up to my period. I also have no noticeable ov pain or cm anymore. Do you think this is something to worry about? My cycle is also much shorter than ever before. This month was just a 25 day cycle.

I can't be bothered to ring the dr's as they just seem to brush off my concerns and I still have another 3 months to wait until my follow up appt....

Sorry for being me me me!!

HappyandEiknowit · 07/04/2009 00:15

just a quickie to say good luck to GG i hope they get started straight away!!
also to PnM good luck for your reunion
hey to everyone else
xx ei xx

MrsHappy · 06/04/2009 22:03

Wow - busy on here all of a sudden.

A big day for some of you tomorrow. Good luck GG and hope the reunion goes well Picknmix.

PicknMix · 06/04/2009 22:01

Just in case I don't get time to post tomorrow morning - hope everything goes well tomorrow GG, will be thinking of you!

Seeing my dad tomorrow for the first time in 2yrs which will be odd but good....

Hope you're all ok x

Caitni · 06/04/2009 22:00

Just popping in to say good luck to GG - am hoping that the app goes well and you'll soon be getting ready for your next round of IVF

Waves to everyone else - will come back to catch up properly when I've got the time

GorgonsGin · 06/04/2009 16:36

hello everyone - just popping in really quickly to say hello and see how you are all doing. i was murdered at work last week, so didn't have a second to post anything. NEVER want another week like that Love the bunny ears emoticons!

Will post individual messages for everyone when I get time tomorrow after the hospital appointment, but sdidn't want you to think i had deserted again.

MrsHappy · 06/04/2009 15:25

PnM I will email you shortly to get your address. No need for payment! Yes, second hand pre-seed does sound a bit gross, but I promise all the sachets are sealed! God bless the San Tropez - everyone looks better with a bit of colour I find (roll on summer).

Bucky the fantastic relaxed attitude sounds brilliant, even if it is forced by heinous work. I am spending lots of time outside and can report that it is lovely even if I am constantly sweaty from trying to sort out my jungle of a garden.

Caitni the vits are still going. I shall try to track you down via Facebook (are you one of Bucky's friends?) and will be in touch to get an address to send them to. I'll have a hunt around and see if there are any manvits going too that I can send at the same time. DH reckons they gave him super sperm, which sounds stupid until you realise that I was not pregnant at all for 9 months, then he started taking the vits and knocked me up 4 times in a year!! . He's very proud...

LOL at the thought of Jollycub with dentures. I hope all is well in the Jolly household. The sickness seems to be passing, fortunately, although the evenings are still difficult. DH has realised if he wants to eat when he comes in from work he needs to forage for himself since the chances of me having whipped something up when I can't bear to look in the fridge are pretty darn low...

Ei I really hope you caught the egg. Fingers crossed for you.

Hi to everyone else. I hope the lovely weather is keeping you all in good spirits.

Well, I am starting to get fatter. I always had a bit of a belly but have given up holding it in ! I had my booking visit to the hospital last week. The good news is that the midwives seem great and far more thorough than they were at the hospital where I had DD. I've also been assigned to a consultant who is very pro-natural birth. Yay! She's a bit of a legend amongst north London mums on the childbirth threads. The bad news is that my blood pressure is already higher than I would like and that could be a problem. We'll have to see what can be done to bring it down, but I am going to start a gentle exercise regime... next week !

Take care xx

PicknMix · 05/04/2009 15:10

Oh, and meant to say - MrsH if you still need to find a home for the pre-seed then I'd like to give it a go, just never got round to ordering any!!

Email is [email protected] if you want to give me your bank details so I can pay you....

(why does it seem slightly wrong asking for someones pre-seed!? )

PicknMix · 05/04/2009 14:03

Hello all.....

Apologies from me also for my absence. I appear to be rivalling Bucky in terms of busyness at work and haven't been home much before 9 each evening this week. Have next week off though (yay!) although am now working the Monday in order to catch up on the bits I didn't get finished by Friday (boo).

Anyway....

Caitni am so chuffed for you that things are beginning to take shape and really hope your line manager is understanding. Hope also that your head is in a good place as you have been trying to get 'in the zone' for a while - how has the acupuncture been going?

Awwww at Jollycubs first tooth !! Hope the new pegs aren't hassling her too much?

Hope DH is still able to walk EI after your stirling efforts this month!? Really do have everything crossed for you

Hello MrsH - hope the ms isn't giving you too much grief (although must be slightly weirdly comforting at the same time?!) and yay to giving in to all your hunger needs! Am looking forward to hearing about the scan and am happy you have private midwife sorted out - sounds like you really need the continuity this will give you after your experience last time with your DD.

Wow at the speedy appt GG, its brill that you and DH are ready to start the whole process again. Will be thinking of you on Tuesday.

IKWYM Bucky re not knowing what cd your on due to other 'life' pressures - I had to look it up in my diary as the evil witch appeared yesterday (). Glad for you though, its good to be refocussed on something else I find, although are you finding work v stressful at the moment? I'm finding it too stressful which has meant no nookie in the PnM household this month (well, once right at the beginning but it obviously didn't do the trick!). Ah well, keep telling myself at least I have a job as friends around me struggle with redundancy.

Weather is beautiful today so am outside writing this whilst DH dutifully does the gardening

Am off all week as is my sisters wedding next Sat although now having to work tomorrow to catch up on a few bits that I didn't get finished on Friday. Hope the weather stays nice for my sister. Didn't manage to lose the required 2 stone (no surprise there!) so have cracked open the St Tropez and I swear I look at least a stone lighter

Was working in Royston the other day and got back into Kings Cross about 5.30 - was gonna see if any of you were around to meet for a drink then remembered the G20 summit and all the protesters and figured you prob wouldn't have wanted to battle through! May be next time....

BuckyIsLucky · 05/04/2009 12:07

Wow Caitni good for you , hope it all goes well.

I have no idea what CD I am on, I think I ov. early though so shoud be in the 2ww. But truly no idea...which is something of a miracle for me. I think being so busy at work has refocussed my attention.

GG I really will try hard this week. Let me know what days you are free and we will work something out.

Sorry I am being rubbish at posting recently. There is just nothing interesting re ttc to report. I do read what you are all up to though and lurk around making a nuisance of myself. I am finding all kinds of weird and wonderful stuff venturing into other topics......

Isn't the weather LOVELY. I just want to stay outside all the time...

HappyandEiknowit · 05/04/2009 09:57

morning ladies
caitni wow you are starting your IVF so soon?? good luck!!
GG is it tuesday your appointment?? i hope it all goes well
hope everyone else is doing well
as far as i know im 3DPO today as i had a rise on friday after having spotting and a bit of pain on thursday hopefully what with my pre-seeding and plenty of BDing we will have caught the elusive egg!! fingers crossed anywho!
cyas later
xx ei xx

Caitni · 03/04/2009 11:59

Hi everyone,

happy Friday!

JollyBear lol at the baby with dentures comment . I love when babies get their first tooth, they're just so cute when they smile (all the babies in my extended family are bald too at that stage and I just love the bald/gummy/one tooth combo ). Hope she doesn't suffer too much with the teething though!

Bucky know the pain with the busy work - thank god it's nearly the weekend

GG yay for the app on 7th April! That's so soon . I think you're smart not to leave it any longer, as it's still such a time consuming process with all the downregging and all that. I'm so happy that things are moving forward for you

MrsH can't wait to hear how your scan goes next week. And am loving the foods you've been eating . I was reading last night in my current book that tastes are influenced even in utero as what the mother eats gets into the amniotic fluid. So eating a wide variety of tastes when preggers helps a child to like a variety of tastes. Sounds like you're doing a good job to me . Oh and I'd love the Zita West vits if they're still going, I keep meaning to buy them but bulk bought so many pro-natal vits when still in Brighton that I'm still using them (but onto the last jar now!).

MOB yay for the wrestling rugby chicks! I'm with MrsH and giving your bump a nice non-creepy pat. I'll have to look you up on Facebook and add you as a friend (in fact, should do that with everyone as am only friends with Bucky I think - at my general Facebook rubbishness!)

Ei hope you enjoyed the shagfest stage of your cycle . Have you ovulated yet? I'm 3 dpo now and I think we're pretty close in our cycles?

PnM hello! Hope things are good with you. Bet it's been lovely in your neck of the woods with all this lovely sunny weather

Well I had a great chat with HR on Tues and, on the HR consultant's advice, I've decided to tell my line manager. I know that he and his wife had some assistance having their son last Christmas (though he's said they didn't need to go the full IVF route) so am hoping he'll fully understand and help me keep it utterly secret. My DH also said he'd like to know if one of his team was going through it, if only to dampen down any sort of "crikey, so and so is off sick loads" comments. I'm going to book in for my day 3 bloods at the Lister at the start of my next cycle and start to plan the dates to start downregging etc [gulp]. So of course am now just paranoid that my FSH will have somehow shot up past 10 since my last tests in November...reckon I just always need something to worry about

Am so freakin' glad it's Friday btw. And next weekend is Easter so we're off camper vanning it in Wales (we're heading to Snowdonia). Roll on having a break from work/London!!

Caitni xx

JollyBear · 01/04/2009 20:21

Hello everyone,

caitni I hope the chat with work went well and they are going to be supportive. It is good to set things out so they know why you might need time off at short notice.

GG Fantastic news about the appointment. It's great that old habits aren't dying off, you never know... It's great that you are both happy and ready to give it another go.

Bucky Boo to work, how are things with you? Either of your canines been nibbling your shoes recently?

ei Hope that late night was for fun rather than insomnia.

MOB It's is so cute to think of your boys wiggling around together. I wish I was on FB so I could see your bump!

MrsH Hope the sickness isn't too awful. 7-up became my drink of choice and I've never been a fan before or since. Very odd!

Hello PnM, hope you are well and not working too hard.

Everything is fine in the Jollybear household. DD has sprouted a tooth. It's rather early and I'm fearing she's going to look like a baby with dentures if she gets any more .

BuckyIsLucky · 01/04/2009 12:44

I'm here lurking and still grumpy. . Super super busy at work but thought I'd give you all a quick shout out. x

MrsHappy · 01/04/2009 11:25

I also have an unopened jar of Vitafem, which is the Zita West fertility vitamin. If anyone wants them, pipe up and I will get them to you.

Nice to see you MOB. I'm glad it is all well and that the chicks are wriggling around like healthy chicks should.

Madoldbird · 01/04/2009 07:00

A quickie from me as well... have been lurking once in a while to keep up with news, but have been incredibly busy the past week or so.

GG delighted to hear you've got a private appt. You and DH sound so positive, I know you will get there in the end. You sound physically and mentally ready to be thinking about the next cycle, so i think you're doing the right thing by going private and moving things forward.

Hope everyone else is well. My bump is getting huge now, and the babies are making their presence felt. It feels like they are either wrestling, or playing football / rugby in there. Probably all 3! Must put a "bump" photo on FB.

HappyandEiknowit · 31/03/2009 23:44

hi ladies
just a quickie to say hello and i hope everyone is doin g well
il catch up properly tomorrow at a more decent hour
xx ei xx

MrsHappy · 31/03/2009 14:16

Just a quickie to say well done to GG for getting that appointment sorted. If you feel emotionally ready then it is time to get on with things.

Caitni GG is right that any adverse treatment by your employer because you were having time off for IVF would be sex discrimination. So don't worry on that front, especially as you are giving HR a heads-up.

Does anyone want some Pre-seed? I have 10 sachets (the pre-loaded pipette thingies) floating about and I need the drawer space...
