Detox-are you OK? Thought you would have been on today.

Majormoo-lovely to read your birth story. Sounds heavenly.

Have just watched the last episode of Survivors and it has ended annoyingly. Bah!

DawnAS · 30/12/2008 15:35

Oh Majormoo, that sounds like a blissful birth!! This of course from someone that's expecting her first so I'm not sure whether any birth is classed as "blissful!!", I have all that to come. How wonderful for you though. Sounds like your little man was determined not to wait any longer!! Have you got any pics that you can post? Would love to see them.

Well what I thought was cramping has eased again since putting my feet up on the new recliner sofa we bought before Xmas. In no pain at all now again, just feel a bit odd.

Just wondered actually, did anyone's appetite reduce after the initial 12 weeks. I'm finding that if I'm busy (like moving house!), I've been missing meals and not feeling hungry, is that normal when you get to the second trimester? Baby looked fine during the amnio yesterday so I don't think I'm causing him any problems, but I am being more consistent with my eating now that the chaos has eased and I'm still taking my Pregnacare.

Just wanted to say aswell that I've got a really good feeling about 2009 for MNers on this thread. Let's hope my feeling is right!!

majormoo · 30/12/2008 14:54

Hi All-hope everyone had a good christmas

Dawn put your feet up-hope you feel OK later

Detox-congratulations

Frosty/BSl/Dawni am really hoping things work out for you soon

We are all fine here though things have been a bit manic to say the least. Jesse feeds very frequently so I am shattered but he is of course gorgeous.

Thought I'd quickly post my birth story-feel free not to read!:
Am still so chuffed the birth went so well. I had had contractions on Thurs 18th (during which time I did lovely relaxing things like nit comb DD's hair!) but they completely stopped by the next morning, so really felt I would end up with an induction. Went to my midwife for a sweep that afternoon, and it turned out my waters were bulging out and my cervix was 'thin and effaced'!! Really odd as I had no contractions at this point. She thought we would not make it to the birthing centre, but luckily Brighton hospital was closed to new maternity admissions as they were really busy, so we went to the birthing centre rather than be sent to a hospital just as far away. It was so calm and relaxing and the water birth was just fantastic. We got there at 6pm and Jesse was born at 9.18pm. Odd to think a few hours earlier I had been chatting to the other mums at the school gates. Not one stitch (and had LOADS with my other son) and recovering afterwards was lovely. Felt like being in a B&B! There were 2 of us there the first night and 5 the second, so it was great to have peace and quiet. It was really sociable as well-I really enjoyed having roast dinner with 4 other mums on the Sunday with the babies all lined up in their cots next to each other. For all my midwife's concern, my waters never did break-they had to be broken as I pushed his head out!

Dawni · 30/12/2008 14:04

Another -OPK.......Ive decided we'll just BD every other day what ever the OPKs say xx

FrostyTheSnowman · 30/12/2008 14:03

Just rest as much as you can. Sounds OK to me. If the cramping gets very bad then phone the unit.

Hey Frosty,

Think I might have spoken too soon about the cramps... I've been feeling very odd for about the last 30 minutes... It's not specifically cramping that's coming and going, just a dull ache in my lower back and I also feel a bit sick... But I don't think the sickness is related...

So I'm going to have a lie-down I think...

FrostyTheSnowman · 30/12/2008 12:19

No I didn't, the consultant said they never numb the area so was prepared. Glad you are OK.

Hello ladies,

Glad you're feeling more optimistic today Frosty!!

I am fine thank you, no cramps at all and had a very comfortable nights sleep, not like after the CVS where I had to lay on my back the whole time and couldn't even roll onto my side. The only bit that's slightly sore is where they sprayed the plastic plaster stuff!!

I have to admit that I was expecting some cramping, but I've really had nothing - although the Consultant did say that as I only had an hour or so cramping with the CVS, that I may well feel nothing at all.

Frosty, did you have a local anaesthetic with your amnio? I read online that they normally give this, but they didn't for me. Good job I didn't know before-hand otherwise I would have panicked I think!!

FrostyTheSnowman · 30/12/2008 09:29

Dawni-I have taken great hope from Detox's chart as it does not confirm any OV day like the chart I had the other month which left me thinking I was on the menopause. So, am going to try and not get too upset about the OPK results and BD all month once AF has buggered off! Once I am back on the saddle so to speak I will possibly feel more positive as I will be actually doing something. Keep sending the troups in.

Detox-was DH ecstatic?

DawnAS-how are you today? Have you a few niggly cramps?

Hope everyone else is OK.

Done some BDing to just keep positive lastnight, hope your right frosty and its just changed in the cycle, i was feeling down yesterday after the -OPK but that has now past, it does happen though at some point through the cycle as im sure it does to most TTCers !!

Lets just keep going, its great that we can all support each other xxx

How did DH take the news detox

Love to all

D xx

FrostyTheSnowman · 29/12/2008 21:06

DawnAS-hope you get the results by Friday. Try and rest tomorrow if you can as you might feel a bit crampy then.

Detox-you told your DH yet?

Dawn-you may be like me and your OV day has switched from Day 8 to Day 13/14.

Bluestar-thing is, I already have children so am not subjected to those chilling comments about TTC but have been there. My school mum friend had her 4th baby on Boxing Day and one of my BF's is due on the 11th January with her 3rd and I still feel most of how you feel inside even though I have 2 lovely girls. Did thow some bibs out today as I feel sure they wouldn't be used so no point in keeping them.

Better go before I bring the thread down.

Hi all,

Had amnio today and what a bizarre experience that was!!

They didn't tell me that they don't give a local anaesthetic for the amnio, so when they put the needle in, I was thinking to myself "this anaesthetic is taking a long time to administer and a bit more painful than last time" so imagine my surprise when she said that the amnio was done!! It only took about a minute and was a lot less stressful than the CVS. One needle instead of two and slightly less painful as they actually perform the procedure.

I have had absolutely no pain at all since the procedure (I'm touching wood as we speak...), no cramps or anything so hoping all this is a good sign.

They did say that I may even get the results on Friday, instead of Monday, so that's also good news. Trying to keep positive and hoping that maybe our luck is going to change with this little monkey for the new year. He was holding both feet with his hands which was funny to see!! Heartbeat was still nice and strong, before and after the procedure and it was amazing how clear the spine was to see, couldn't see it that much at the 12 week scan. A lot obviously happens in 4 weeks!!

DD, so looking forward to hearing how you break the news to your DH!!!

Thanks for all your good luck messages ladies!!

Frosty - I'm counting today as CD2 too , as AF didn't start properly until the night of Saturday.
Hopefully you're right and this will be our year. I don't about you, but I had a christmas filled with people asking if I'm broody, or when we'll have a DC, for their DC to play with...yada yada. I wanted DH to tell his family that we are having problem and he won't. I've told my mum and sis.

Detox - sorry, for sounding a bit down! I am happy for you! And I'm praying for a lovely PG for you!

FrostyTheSnowman · 29/12/2008 14:11

Bluestar-you and me both mate. Sorry AF got you too. I am currently CD 2 of cycle number 968. We will get there won't we?

Hi Everyone,

Congrats Detox!

AF arrived again for me on Saturday. What a wonderful way to see the new year in!

detoxdiva · 29/12/2008 13:22

Thank you everyone - have managed to keep it quiet from dh so far....have just popped into town and got us a nice dinner and will surprise him with the test then!!

Think I am due 11th Sept - my cycles are waaaaay off the normal 28 days they use, so have put my lmp back by a week and this gives me the 11th.

Am going to do my best to take 1 day at a time, and not make any gp or mw appointments for a few weeks as I don't want to tempt fate. Fingers crossed this one's going to hang on.

Any news from Dawn yet?

Frosty, don't give up - just keep trying. Dd is born early Jan so don't worry about due dates, just relax into the b'ding

CE - glad you're feeling better. Those baby movements are just the best aren't they?

MJIM - have a great evening. 14 weeks? Where did that time go?

Oops - can't believe I forgot majormoo - huge congratulations to you! So glad you were able to have the birth you wanted. And Jesse's a lovely name

daisyj · 29/12/2008 11:55

detox - I knew it! So, so happy for you . How wonderful to have an Xmas BFP!!!

CE - Ugh - sorry you've been sick, you poor thing - how miserable for you. Hope you're able to enjoy everything else in between. Sounds like you've been having a good time, though. I can't believe we'll have nine-month-old babies this time next year either (God willing - I have to say that or my grandmother would never forgive me for tempting fate )

Bluestar - Hope Zephyr is healing. Bet he looks like a real toughie now . Richard is totally uninterested in anything but sleeping, eating and cuddles at the moment. I think his tough old tomcat days are behind him.

frosty - adding my words to CE's - here's some more babydust - and to all the bonking ladies.

Dawn - thinking of you for the amnio today, and will check back later. Congrats on the move - gosh, what a year it's been for you!

Thanks so much for all your support this year, everyone. I can't say how much it's meant just seeing all your names and messages -it's always a comfort if I'm feeling a bit low, even when I don't have time to post.

Happy New Year and big un-Mumsnetty hugs to everyone.

xx

FrostyTheSnowman · 29/12/2008 11:05

ChocEclair-I will be onto an October baby then November and then we will have to have a break from TTC as neither of us feel that having a B'Day too near Christmas is going to be much fun.

Better go as girls are up to no good.

DETOX - YEY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I thought it when I looked at your chart last night but didn't want to say! FF must have gone mad as it was so obvious!

Well done you, and how exciting to tell your dh later! yippee!

Try not to worry too much before the scan, even though I know that is very very hard! There are quite a few of us on here now who have been through the whole knicker checking 2nd attempt, and those horrible early weeks to offer support. Perhaps if you go into the mw and say how much you are worrying (think my tears helped!) you will get an early scan at around 9 weeks?

I'm really really happy for you!!!!!!!!!

Frosty - don't give up! Big hug for you - a new year BFP would be nice hey! (would that make a september baby? I've heard they're the best kind !)

Dawn - what time is the amnio? xxxxxxxxx

I'm feeling loads better today - plain toast and milk for me! lol! Either that or I will buy some shares in Gaviscon!
