im 8 days late and keep getting bfns i dont know whats happened..finished my pill on the 25th oct... then nothing

happy birthday to your ds... my ds2 is 2 in feb.. such a lovely age

TrixieVix · 30/11/2008 20:59

Hi all - have had a fantastic weekend! It's my DS's 2nd birthday tomorrow, so we've had a tea party for him today (who knew it could be so stressful?!) He's been a little poppet and although a bit frantic, but now it's all over and everything's washed and packed away, and he's peacefully snoozing in bed, I realise it's been worth it. Definitely a village hall next year though....a die cast car was thrown at the LCD TV and there was very nearly meltdown of my DH!!

So, still no AF, but not bothered to do a pg test again, just yet. Must be cause I'm all stressed up at the moment, but am clinging to the hope that it'll regulate itself, or that I'm still ovulating even though there's no AF...is that a possiblity do you think?

Pleased you've had good weekends too - I'm very nearly there with my xmas shopping too, but still go a few bits to get. DS is totally sorted, as are our numerous nephews and nieces, but not done parents or in-laws yet. Will hopefully get that done next week and then......relax!

So - what's new with everyone? Everyone else sat back and relaxing to Top Gear?!?!?1

Oh, and Hi Raspberry

DevilsAdvocaat · 30/11/2008 20:16

hi everyone,

had nice weekend, mil and fil came to stay and it was surprisingly relaxed
ds has been poorly the last couple of weeks and his sleeping this week has been terrible. he always sleeps 7.30-7.30 and in this last week he's been waking through the night and getting up at 5. then he's grumpy all day.

he's been in a good routine for such a long time that it has hit me hard this week and left me feeling dazed like in the early days with a newborn. i have been thinking how the hell do you manage situations like that when you have a newborn too?!

jeez. i'll be walking about like a zombie.

cantwaitforxmas · 30/11/2008 18:46

Welcome raspberry - so sorry to hear about your MCs and I hope your lovely DS has a little brother or sister in the autumn.

Bubblebell - lovely of your DS to share his bug with you . I hope you are both feeling better in the morning. For now I think I will just go with the flow. AF is very regular but anything beyond that looks very complicated to me (I know people talk about temp charts and OPK sticks but I'm not really sure what it is all about ). If it doesn't happen for us in a few months I'm sure I'll feel differently but I'll worry about it then. Until then I'll just go with lots of GOFing .

bubblebell1 · 30/11/2008 18:24

oh and welcome raspberry

bubblebell1 · 30/11/2008 18:23

hi cantwait

ive spent most of the wkend knicker checking... AF still not here and still bfn this morn.

DS2 is poorly and was awake most of the night... i think im coming down with something too..... i feel achey etc.

today was better... we put up the xmas tree and then i went to my mums for dinner.. was a nice break.

glad everything has worked out for you...
are you going to chart your fertility or just go with the flo?

RaspberrySouffle · 30/11/2008 18:21

Hi all, can I join? Am hoping for an Autumn baby... September would be lovely!

Have one DS who's 2.6. Have had 2 MCs since then so I'm hoping I won't have 3 in a row!

Best of luck everyone...

Gateau I'm from the May thread (but have namechanged since). We had similar EDDs... ring any bells? Sorry to hear you had a MC. Best of luck ttc again.

cantwaitforxmas · 30/11/2008 17:49

Hi bubblebell,

I've had a lovely weekend. Now that we have finally decided to ttc DP and I are much more relaxed. Had family over for dinner on Saturday then went xmas shopping today. I've almost finished so I might try to get everything wrapped tonight. We are off for a weeks holiday next Friday and I want to be as organised as possible before then otherwise the last week before xmas will be mad.

How about you?

bubblebell1 · 30/11/2008 12:53

hi girls!

how was your weekend?

cantwaitforxmas · 28/11/2008 21:03

Hooray! DH has agreed we can start ttc NOW!

He realises that he does want us to have kids and that putting it off for a few months won't make him any less scared. I'm so excited! His only 'requirement' was that we don't start counting days or GOFing just because I am ovulating' so it doesn't become clinical which I totally agree with.

So excited (and VERY surprised)!

DevilsAdvocaat · 28/11/2008 20:02

cwfxmas,

why don't you get him to speak to some other dads? my dh was the same, he wanted kids but was scared.

it might really help to get a bloke's REAL opinion and story iykwim.

it'll be ok you know. biologically i think women get more of a drive towards babies. men need the softly softly coaxy monkey approach

bubblebell1 · 28/11/2008 17:06

trixie im 4 days late too. no bfp and no af, just want it to hurry up and arrive so i can try again

Ruby01 · 28/11/2008 15:19

Dear cantwaitforxmas agree the getting him drunk soes not sound like the best option but he needs to know that his indecisiveness is not fair on you. I know once my DH and I decided to try I was straight into the 'im going to have a baby soon mindset'. It is understandable that he may be a little apprehensive about becoming a father but thats part and parcel of it you dont have children without a little apprehension. Once he knows his actions upsets you he may be much more behind the idea and if not its the shag me and deal with the consequences approach !!!

Trixe came to the same conclusion will ignore dates ( well really try to) and just enjoy the trying

I love this thread!

iloverosycheeks · 28/11/2008 11:04

Cantwait My DP is a bit like this as well - though as previous posters have said if I did not drive things forward we would prob not even be living together yet!!
DS was a happy accident for me but DP was not pleased at all as the timing wasnt great. I have always thought how nice it would be to be trying for a baby and to get the BFP and for us both to be jumping up and down and delighted about it. But I don't think that is going to happen as DP just isnt like that about big life changes, he tends to focus on the negative.
Up until recently when we were asked if having any more kids DP's reply was 'not a chance' and then I would pull a face like 'thats what he thinks'! However it did worry me that he seemed so against it - anyway we stopped using condoms last month so I took that as his agreeance and we have sort of discussed it but I feel we just have to 'let it happen' and he will just come round to the idea as he did with DS and then when baby born will be delighted to be a Dad again. No words of wisdom to help you really - hope your DP comes round and accepts his fate! just as mine has (i think!)

bratnav · 28/11/2008 10:49

Nah, you can't do the get him drunk bit, that really is cheating IMVHO. Also, if he is drunk not so much chance of you hitting the top note which I understand helps the swimmers (as well as being generally fab)

If you have been together 10 years then personally I would think that if he isn't ready now then when will he be? Sorry, absolutely not my place to say that, feel free to give me a virtual slap.

cantwaitforxmas · 28/11/2008 10:43

Cheers bratnav - we've actually made that step already. I stopped taking the pill 3 months ago (and so far AF is behaving and arriving every 28 days which is good) and we are using condoms. I have considered getting him drunk and hoping he forgets about the condom but a friend of ours got pregnant that way (she was fairly open about the fact she had done it deliberately) and DP was quite angry on his mates behalf so not sure it's the best idea .

mrsdisorganised · 28/11/2008 10:30

Good idea Brat! We did that and got very drunk one night, forgot about comdoms... decision made!

bratnav · 28/11/2008 10:25

cantwait - if you really feel he is ready, but just a little nervous (and everyone is, it's a big step) why don't you tell him you are going to stop using your current method of contraception and tell him to use condoms if he doesn't want/isn't sure about a child yet? Not sure if this would be an option for you, but just a thought?

cantwaitforxmas · 28/11/2008 08:44

Thanks Bubblebell1, I have tried to explain to him that ttc could take a while, that we don't want to put it off until it is harder to ttc and we are more set in our ways so find it harder to adapt to having a baby etc. I've also pointed out that most of his worries (will I be a good dad, is it the right time, will it change our relationship etc) won't just go away. When we talk about it he agrees with what I am saying and agrees we'll always have some worries. Then I'll say 'so we should start trying now' and he says 'yes - we should start soon' but he says he just can't take that last step and say 'okay lets start now'. It's still too scary.

bubblebell1 · 28/11/2008 08:10

Hi Everyone!

How are you all?

cwfxmas, my dh is very much the same.all decisions are left to me. he kept saying he wanted more but not yet etc he too is very indecisive. so i sat him down and explained that it could take up to a year to fall pregnant.i need to prepare my body. it was better to do it now as the kids would be closer together in age and that when the kids were adults we wouldnt be ancient. and that i felt we could cope. ( i had terrible pnd with both babies before so i think he was worried about that) He has since agreed and we are now activly ttc. (when my blasted AF arrives)

I suggest talking to him and i am sure he will come round. if we argue my dh always throws in 'oh and you want another 1' but i just ignore him.

AF is 3 days late and it feels like forever.

xxx

cantwaitforxmas · 27/11/2008 22:53

Thanks MrsD - I think a happy accident would have been easier!

mrsdisorganised · 27/11/2008 22:42

I feel for you CWFXmas! My Dh is a bit like that, but I think the more you think about the realities the scarier it gets! Our first DD was a happy accident and we have decided that that was the best way to do it! We've been 'planning' this next attempt and I find his dicisions change from one day to the next Good luck and i hope you can pin him down!

cantwaitforxmas · 27/11/2008 22:36

Hi all,

I need to rant - sorry. DP is driving me crackers! When I first said that I wanted to start trying for a DC he said that he agreed and was quite excited about being a dad although he was also very nervous. He then had a change of heart and said that although he wanted children he hadn't realised I meant right away as we hadn't really talked about it before (actually I've been talking about it for 2 years and all our friends and family knew I wanted children soon but he is a very here and now person and tends not to really hear if I am talking about the future). For the last couple of months he has swung between being very excited and saying he wants us to ttc in the next month or so then changing his mind and saying he just doesn't feel completely ready yet and doesn't want to make the wrong decision.

I know it has to be a joint decision and he has to be happy for us to ttc (although I think most people never feel 100% sure they are ready for a baby right now - how can you ever be certain it's the right time?) but I'm finding this really upsetting. I'm so excited about ttc and feel I'm on an emotional rollercoaster with all this 'yes we will, no we won't' stuff. He is away this week and I have said he needs to make a decision - either he does want us to start trying now or we decide to wait for 6-12 months then see how we feel then. I think it's the right thing - he is one of those people who hates making decisions and will just keep saying maybe forever. At least if he says no he doesn't want to yet I can try to forget about it for a while - at the moment its on my mind alot of the time. I'm really nervous though as I REALLY want him to say yes and I actually think he does want children now - it's just hard for him to commit.

Do you think I am doing the right thing or am I being hard on him? I am very impatient but I have had to push him to make most big changes/decisions in the 10 years we have been together (change job when unhappy/buy the house he wanted/buy car/move city.....). Ironically, once he decides to do something he goes for it 100% and is very happy but just finds it tough to make that decision.

Sorry for the long rant and me me me post - just needed to get that off my chest. Please keep your fingers crossed I'll still be going for a September baby.

DevilsAdvocaat · 27/11/2008 22:07

i have one ds aged 1 and a half.
we are trying at the mo but aren't using contraception iykwim.
we will start trying after christmas for mostly selfish champagne and soft cheese reasons
last time i was pg it was over christmas and i was still suffering morning sickness at the time and it wasn't that enjoyable!

i can't wait though, it's really exciting and feeling very positive

mrsdisorganised · 27/11/2008 20:39

Hello everyone! This list just keeps growing...

Ruby01- Sorry to hear about the time you've had, hopefully you won't have to wait too long. I had the whole 4 days 'late' thing and just plucked up the courage to do a test this morning only to find, like you that AF arrived an hour later! Body plays tricks on meAt least I know where I am now...

Hope everyone is still feeling positive! Babydust to you all!
