WB,

The TTC19 thread is moving so fast I didn't want to lose touch with you.

Can we use this thread to talk?

Have you had your dh's results yet?

No I am not worried anymore, I will have to think of a new name now wont I.

Like you, we didnt feel it was impossible to conceive and if you have been told to use contraception if you dont want another child, then all is not lost. I am sure, like me, it will happen for you in time, it may take a bit longer than some but I never gave up thinking it wouldnt happen. I always thought one day it would. DH didnt feel so positive but I thought if it was going to it would.

I am sure you will be just fine. Just expect it to take a little longer maybe, but I am sure I will be seeing your BFP in the not too distant future.
All the best.
Bev

Thank-you so much WB (and by the way, I hope you're not worried any more!) for your kind words.

We live in hope! DH is indeed my two's father - it was No.2 who gave him mumps that caused the damage! We conceived them within 4 months, but we were in our 30's and the damage hadn't been done, so it is entirely possible that it can happen again. In fact, our GP said that if we didn't want more we should use contraception, so fingers are very much crossed!

Very best of luck to you - I'll keep an eye out on this thread so we can talk again soon,

Meant to add Bella, I am 41 and DH is 60, so dont worry about age, it may take a little longer but that is only expected. It happened for me and it will happen for you.

Are the other children you have got with your DH or from a previous relationship. If they are DH's then obviously he produced kids then so nothing should be that different now.

Lovely to hear from you and so pleased that you are focusing your mind on other things. It took a lot of willpower for me to do that and in the end I accepted that we would probably have to have help with my DH's 25% motility and DH also thought this as well, but as goes to show, this can happen, whatever the motility, there is our specialist telling us it is not very good motility and we would probably need medical intervention - thats one in the eye for him now. I had great pleasure ringing up the clinic and telling them I didnt need any more appointments as I had conceived naturally, although I didnt speak to the specialist direct the nurse wasreally pleased for us. What is your DH's motility level? Nothing is hopeless, you can see that now.

Yes I know, I was not spending as much time as I should have been with my dd and realised I loved her so much and she is growing up so quick - 12 next month that I devoted more time to her and really enjoyed having her around on holiday, enjoyed every minute with her.

So my belief is the minute you concentrate on something else it will happen. Not to focus on that one thing, dont forget about trying to conceive obviously but dont make it the be all and end all.

Keeping everything crossed for you Bella and please keep in touch.

BellaLasagne · 08/09/2005 07:23

So very pleased for you WB and I hope the sickness fades soon. You've just got to keep telling yourself that being horribly sick is a sign of a good strong pregnancy and you'll get through it.

I'm fine, thanks Munz. I decided about 3-4 months ago to keep off here and to 'not' try any more, not think about it, try not to time bd, to just focus my energy on getting on with life really. In the back of my mind I hoped we'd get a result while away on holiday, as that's supposed to work, but it didn't.

So many people (including my GP) have told me to do this, to redirect my energy, and then hopefully it'll just happen. WB, you're living proof of this, along with so many others, and i'm so pleased for you.

I have just about resigned myself to the fact that at 40 and a half, and with dh's poor motility also, there's not much chance now of it happening. I think we're at the stage where if it happens it'll be close to miraculous, but if it doesn't then so be it - it was meant to be.

I'm certainly enjoying my 2 children more now I've mentally turned a page. I wasn't appreciating them fully, as I was so obsessed with thinking about babies, which was so unfair really! It doesn't help that dd keeps asking if I've any more babies left in my tummy (she's 6 and very into how babies are made ), but I've told her probably not.

I'm cracking on with my career, applying for courses and other vacancies, and we're getting plans drawn up to build an extension to our house, so these things are keeping me away from here! (Dangerous place, as you know, highly addictive!)

So that's it really. I'll creep on every now and again to see how youare, but I really am making an effort to keep off here, as although it's a brilliant website, it's not helping me.

Best of luck to you both and I look forward to reading your birth stories in a few short months. (Munz, hope your dh manages to be with you for the birth, mine managed the first then had to go back to work an hour later!)

Lots of love,

BL xx

Yes I got my BFP at last after 15 months. It happened on holiday as well would you believe. Just thought that with DH's sperm motility being quite low - 25% we might have to go for ivf so resigned myself to the fact that it probably wouldnt happen naturally and there you go, it happened. I still cant believe it, coming up to my 8th week on Thursday, feeling as sick as a dog, morning noon and night and throwing up as well. Dont know what to eat as dont feel like anything at all most of the time, just wish the sickness would hurry up and go but I shouldnt moan, I waited long enough for this.
How are you, any news yet?
love Bev

Sorry I havent replied sooner but havent been on the board much as been really busy at work. I just read your post on another thread as well.
What was DH's count do you know? Does that mean if the count is good and the motility not so good, you can still conceive as I think that may be our problem. DH's count was 43 million but motility a little low but not so much as to cause a problem with conceiving - or so the doctor said.
I hope you have a BFP very soon.

BellaLasagne · 17/05/2005 07:33

Hi WB, how're you?

Well, we've had our results back. Mine were fine, which means I'm ov'ing OK, which I kind of knew anyway because I have really strong monthly 'symptoms' (CM etc). DH's were much improved, which is a great relief.

Although still officially classed 'subfertile', (the percentage of 'good' to 'abnormal' wrigglers was the same as before) but as the the overall count was up massively it means he's now just about producing enough 'goodies' to get me pg if luck is on our side.

The GP said that as we're not wanting to go any further with infertility treatment (i.e. we'd not consider GIFT or IVF because we have children already), the best thing we could do is relax (ha ha) and enjoy ourselves. He said, again, that it's important not to get stressed about it, that my body should tell me when it's the best time (i.e. go with instinct not OPKs!), and to go for the big 'O' each time we bd as that's the best way of getting maximum swimmers 'up there'!

Hope this info helps you.....?

Keep me posted..

Hi WB,

Don't think I posted on that thread, but anyway AF has arrived today bang on cd29 so feeling a bit low. I was feeling fairly positive this month as well and hadn't had any pre-AF symptoms this week so kept wondering.

Dh did his second test yesterday (fortunately no drama this time and I delivered it safely to the lab in 40 mins) so we should get the result of that early next week along with the result of my blood test. I've a feeling there might be a little improvement but am not getting my hopes up.

I read the other day that at my age there's a 9% chance each cycle of getting pg, but if dh is only producing 10% goodies, does that take the total down to 0.9% - god I hope not.

Anyway, fingers crossed for you...

Hi Bella Lasagne
Just saw your post on the orderyourbaby topic and I see your af hasnt arrived yet. I hope you get the result you want. What is your normal cycle, are you late. Oh how exciting. I hope it happens for you. Do you have any symptoms that might make you think you are pg?

I am on day 9 now so bedding like made as ovulated on day 11 last month, so hoping for a normal cycle again this time.

Keep me posted of any news.

How are you WB?

Had blood test last Friday (ouch, couldn't get a vein....) going back to GP MOnday.

Dh has agreed to do another test on Thursday as he has the morning off after being away for a couple of days - yippee!

Take care,

BL

Well, it took 4 years to persuade him to go for it, so I'm not at all hopeful that he'll change his mind.

I'm on cd15 today so need to de-stress both of us and have a some serious bd-ing tonight as i think ov is on it's way (I'm usually cd14-17). cd 21 blood test next Friday should confirm that.

I've given up watching for symptoms becaus for me they're mostly the same. Th eonly difference is I don't get PMT when pregnant!!

Good luck,

BL

Oh you poor thing you must be going through it. You never know he may decide just to keep on trying, dont give up yet.

On day 22 now arent we so 11 days past ovulation for me, how many for you? Do you have any symptoms at all. I have been feeling a bit queasy but wonder if it is all in the mind, a few little niggling pains down below and it feels like I have got a general ache in my boobs, sometimes the nipples are sore to press but nothing major. It may be all in my head, it probably is knowing me.
Been using fertility friend but no implantation dip as yet. How about you?

BellaLasagne · 29/04/2005 06:51

WB,

Seems like forever, but 11 months. Feel rather under pressure at the moment (a really bad thing) because dh may want us to stop soon as he may be changing jobs (and we're talking major change with massive drop in income here). So I feel that we may only have a couple of months left and I don't think it'll happen in that time.

I hope things have improved for you. How long have you been trying now? I am on day 20 today so my cycles are normally 25 to 28 days so heres hoping.

BellaLasagne · 27/04/2005 12:13

WB,

We don't know if motility has improved because after the last fiasco, unsurprisingly, dh doesn't want to do another test. We're assuming that things can only get better with the changes he's made. (His trousers were very tight so hopefully the baggy ones'll have an effect.)

I asked him last night if he was still taking his zinc and he said he would if I wanted him to so I said yes there is no harm in trying. Still trying to keep things a bit cool on the baby trying front as dont want to get him stressed too.

Did you say to me that the zinc had improved your DH's motility when you had another test, I have forgotten but I thought you mentioned it previously. Maybe I have got it wrong.

BL was my ds's favourite character in Fireman Sam, and is his favourite food.

I feed dh Tesco one-a-day zinc, don't know what the doseage is. There are loads of supplements you can both take - I think Zita West is the guru in that field if you want to find more.

I love that name, what made you choose that name?

Do you think it is important to have good mobility as it is to have a good number of sperm. I always thought it was most important to have sufficient, what do you think?

My DH's quality was good which is a good thing I suppose, it may just take time.

Do you think zinc is the best thing to take, or should he be taking something out in conjunction with that. Did you say the zinc made your DH's count go up? I cant remember. How much zinc does he take a day?

love Bevxx

BellaLasagne · 25/04/2005 21:22

WB,

Loose trousers (in the nether regions), boxer shorts, no hot baths and I give him one-a-day zinc tablets. That's it. There's no chance of us giving up the wine as it's the only thing keeping us going!

Doc did say what motility was but I can't remember what the stats were. All that sticks in my mind is that 10% are OK.....

Hi BellaLasagne

Thanks for your message. I wish you all the luck in the world as well. Did your doctor say what your DH's motility was and whether you had a good chance of conceiving naturally. I dont know what my DH's motility is but just wondered what your doctor advised for my own piece of mind in my situation. My DH wears boxer shorts and always has. What tablets is your DH taking to increase motility now.

Like you I dont want to get too obsessed with this which is why I am not saying so much to DH now and keeping things to myself and thinking when it happens it will be a nice surprise for him. Otherwise it brings me down and I cant handle it.

I tell myself every day not to come on this website but I cant help it. I am also charting my temperatures on fertility friend which is good.

I am due a 21 day blood test this Thursday so hope to see I am all in working order, although according to temps on fertility friend I have ovulated and temps are a very good sign.

Bevx

BellaLasagne · 25/04/2005 16:35

Good luck Bev, and I wish you luck with this cycle.

I'll let you know how the blood test goes. Since posting, my GP has rung to say there's no genetic risk from conceiving with poor DH's damaged wrigglers - the mumps only damages the motility mechanism, not the genes, so thats good news.

Bye for now,

BL x

Hi BellaLasagne

Great to hear from you. What a disaster with your DH's sperm count, still he can always have another go. I know what you mean, DH when he did his at the hospital lost his pot, it rolled under nextdoor's toilet and he rolled it back, no talking between them or nothing, how embarrassing. It must be awful for men mustnt it to have to go through that. Did I tell you DH's sperm count was 43 million, double what he had 8 years ago after reversal of vasectomy, so dont know how that happened! Still I am not complaining. Motility not as good as it could be, but not too bed. Quality very good, so there is hope now.

I went really downhill for a while last week as I am now doing oxford conception study and got high fertility between days 7 and 11 and when I did opks to back it up, got two dark lines on days 12 and 13, but we didnt bed on those two days. DH caught himself in his zip! ah bless him, but I was upset deep down. Wanted to bed but he couldnt. Anyway when I put my temperatures into fertility friend online it said I ovulated on day 11 and we did in fact bed on day 10,so there is hope. I think the temperatures are the most accurate form of checking ovulation or so I have been told. So cheered up a bit since then.

I am now on month 13 of trying, although we didnt really try properly until 2 cycles ago, although we have been without contraception for 13 months, we have only been charting and doing opks for 2 cycles so perhaps it is not so bad.

I am on day 18 of cycle and last night I had an awful night, up for a wee about 6 times in the night and been weeing all day today, but not getting my hopes up. I know this can be an early sign of pg but I doubt if implantation has occured yet!

Anyway take care and hope to hear from you soon.
love Bev
