All my friends who were actively trying for a baby i.e. shagging like mad conceived boys whilst all my friends who took a more relaxed approach had girls. Is this just in my imagination?

What are your experiences?

DEfinately not the case with us!
Dh always likes a whisky or 2 & I like a few bacardis!!!

Xena · 25/02/2005 21:17

When we concieved DD1 it was the only time that month (he had been away)

But I heard that alchol can inpair the boys spearms so maybe that explains it

dejags · 25/02/2005 21:16

sadly no Ja9. Will start trying in about 3 months time though, DH insists he wants at least 6 months of unbroken nights before a new baby arrives on the scene.

how are you doing?

I have had 2 umplanned pregnancies!
First 1 was a late mini pill & Dh's birthday & Christmas falling in the same week!! = ds1!
Second time dh had been on nights & his 1 night off resulted in ds2!!!
Was on combination pill at the time, but suffer with IBS, so I guess that may be 2 blame!!!
Second time we only had sex twice in the whole month!!!
Dh has since had the snip!!!

dejags · 25/02/2005 21:02

well I'll put the theory to test in about 3 months time - although I have a feeling we'll have another boy (I feel it in my water )

dejags and hunker. Completely agree. It's lovely to come on here and let it all hang out!

Xena · 25/02/2005 20:53

Dejags my sister (toomanypuschairs) had 2 older one went for a third and got twins (grin)

dejags · 25/02/2005 20:50

As much as I lovely babies I don't think I am strong enough for twins - at least not with 2 older boys.

Think DH would run away

I know a couple of people with unplanned boys too.

We have one of each - and I don't ever recall "shagging like mad"

We were very actively trying for a baby, including temp charting & so on.We had a girl. This time around we were more relaxed, just stopped taking precautions & were both surprised how quickly I concieved.Won't know whether it's a boy or girl until early June though.

dejags · 25/02/2005 20:30

thanks Maisy - blown my theory right out of the water

maisystar · 25/02/2005 20:28

well i didn't try at all but had a gorgeous ds

dejags · 25/02/2005 20:25

blossom - I think I have a subconscious fear of exactly that! I am sure I'd overcompensate if we had a girl and she'd be spoiled rotten.

First baby, not exactly trying to get pregnant but were at it like bunnies (early years together) = had a boy!

Second baby, weren't trying for a baby, did it one time and got pg first time = had a girl!

Blossomhill · 25/02/2005 20:23

It's funny you should say that dejags as when I found out I was expecting when ds was 10 months I was convinced that I was having another boy. Like you I really wanted one as it was what I knew. When at my 20wk scan they told me I was having a girl I nearly fell off of the bed.
Must say now that she is 5 and a half she has far more clothes than I do. Clothes shopping for girls is much more fun than boys as they have such a better selection (now how shallow is that ????
