Here we are on another new thread! Let's hope it's a lucky one

Ooh Diege you colours sound great.

H&M are great all round I find for adults clothes so Im guessing the kids stuff is as good too.

LaTour- sorry you are sad re timing for TTC and the gall stones. Understandable, does seem like a lot to happen to one person in one year. Did you ask the doc how much recovery you need after a removal op before being able to TTC again? I thought they did it keyhole now so its not that invasive (vs open surgery). Keep us posted anyway. Faxing you over a very low fat wispa bar to cheer you up

Diege · 11/10/2008 15:30

I hereby grant LATOUR a rarely awarded wagon hug (( )). There! And you are to have a full fat slice of ses's cake with squirty cream . Really, really feel for you - you're definitely due some good news soon xxx

Diege · 11/10/2008 15:28

Hi GYO! Have also had a trip to H&M today, though the children's dept with dds squabbling over tights doesn't sound as fulfilling as your trip . I also have the bump bands from there (somewhere!) and agree they're really good quality for the price. Your hair sounds lovely . I also had foils this week (slices, medium brown) then will have blond foils in 3 weeks time, along with darker slices (it's complicated). All in an effort to disguise the grey which I've had coming through since teenage years (am v.dark naturally).
Drat mumsnet for distracting me from work!! (v.easy)

LaTourEiffel · 11/10/2008 15:26

Only got 19 mins of battery life left on my laptop, so I won't be online for much longer...thanks for sympathy GYo and Diege.

Glask - sorry, was so focussed on my own woes, forgot to ask how you are feeling

Ses - Can i have a very low fat slice please?

I only wanted a baby, and EVERYTHING seems to be conspiring against me. I'm so .

GYo · 11/10/2008 15:21

Hi

LaTour- sorry to hear you are in hosp, sounds really painful - thats two wagoners at once in hosp!!

Sounds rather lonely on the ward, glad you have TV and internet to keep you entertained...Hope you get better in time for the hol. Is it a long flight?

Glask- glad to hear that you are on the mend- sorry you had to go into hospital though, must be horrible. Do they just put you on a drip?

Diege- I love hair too! Had 3/4 head highlights with 3 colours, blond, dark blond and light brown. Also had a trim. My hair is now over my shoulders so takes aggges at the salon to do the foils, its also why it cost so much (too ashamed to post the cost here!)
What did you have in the week? Did you have any issues with the colour?

Ses- have made the tea so just waiting for a slice of wagon choc cake... have a plate ready and everything! are you sending over?

Been to town and got a couple of Maternity items in H&M. A knitted dress (no pretending to hide the bump now!) and some bump bands which are really good price vs. the bands in Bloomin Marvelous.

Sorry- mega post!

LaTourEiffel · 11/10/2008 15:20

Hi D, taking one step at a time, I was only dx about an hour ago. They've let me have a bowl of soup and a dry bread roll, if no pain, then its chicken salad for tea, if still no pain I can go home tonight.

I'm on a horrible ward with lots of old people, in a room on my own as apparently the mrsa I had in my c-section scar 2 years ago is a potential infection risk . The room I'm in is opposite the toilet and all I can hear is people's bowels exploding and it makes me retch - so am typing this with my ipod up loud!!

Not sure how long to wait for gallbladder to come out, I hadn't thought about it, I must ask about it as DH and I had already started ttc this month. Fuck it all. Am going to cry now

Diege · 11/10/2008 15:03

Oh bloody hell LATOUR what a nightmare . Are you scheduled for an op shortly, or are they just observing things? (sorry, ignorant about gallstones other than they arev painful!). I suppose one 'positive' is that your gallbladder will be sorted before next pregnancy (rather than during it), but realise it's little consolation at the moment .
What is your ward like? Do you have to stay in tonight?

LaTourEiffel · 11/10/2008 14:59

Afternoon guys - anyone still about?

I'm in hospital at the moment, I left work at about 2 yesterday as had a sore tummy, by 6 it was agony so I went to our local walk in centre, they gave me an injection of voltarol then admitted me to the hospital.

I've had an ultrasound this morning and confirmed that I have a lot of gall stones and am going to have to have my gall bladder out.

Something is telling me that 2008 is just not my year... recurrent tonsillitis, labyrinthitis, miscarriage and now gall stones too

The hospital i'm at is the old one in my city and its blimin horrible. Plus, because I've had a tummy upset this week the're making me show them every time I go to the toilet which is just bloody disgusting and I've found it really distressing. The nurse said, don't worry,we do this all the time, to which I replied, yeah, but I don't .

Poor DH has once again had to step up to the mark and look after DS and run around fetching cars, bringing me stuff, being an all round star.

To top it all off, am supposed to be flying on holiday next week and still not sure whether its going to be possible.

And in case you're wondering, DH has brought in his diddy laptop with 3G dial up modem. He's also got a gadget installed at home that allows me to watch my home tv on the laptop at work - I always nagged him that it was completely pointless - now look at me. All on my own in an isolation ward, mumsnetting away, listening to my ipod!

Sorry to go on - I'm a bit lonely!

Diege · 11/10/2008 14:49

Afternoon! Great news GLASK! I remember you saying how you feared you may have to be admitted after gp reduced drugs. Hope you can stay well!
GYO - ooh tell more about hair. What colour did you have done? (I am a hair-obsessive ). Know what you mean about cost - sneaky £5 added to my usual bill too this week
SES, if you can be arsed get the chance could you post recipe? Have been looking for a good choc cake one for a while now . Must be lovely to have a slice in your new kitchen.
TINK - did you succomb to whisper again? I love the ones with caramel in - not sure if they're back too.
BB, agree with what others have said, dp will need to face up to repsonsibilities sooner or later. I don't think you're irresponsible to have one with debts though - goodness, that would be about 40 million of us with no kids . I think the main thing is for him to face up to what's happening, and at least reassure you that he's got to start growing up a bit. Good luck - as long as you're talking throiugh things you'll be fine, although don;t expect instant results!
Well I have resisted weeing on another stick. I've only 2 cheapies left, plus of course the dusty old clear blue, and will wait until af is well overdue before any more testing! If it's a chemical pregnancy, my body will no doubt have let me know by this time next week, which I would much prefer that a series of increasingly faint tests!
Boobs still tingly and sore when I squash them .
Right, must attack lecture!

SesHasapinkline · 11/10/2008 13:39

Glaskham - good to hear from you and good news you can go home today Let your DH spoil you and try and make the most of bed rest.

SesHasapinkline · 11/10/2008 12:33

Hi tink & GYo

Chocolate cake about to get started on

We now have no boxes in lounge or kitchen!

GYo - I love getting my hair done. Hope ur pleased with it. It does always seem to make a hole in the bank account and that sounds like a hefty rise. I'm sure it was worth it!

OP posts:
GYo · 11/10/2008 12:20

ooh envy at your battered sausage lunch Tink- sounds yummy. Enjoy!

GYo · 11/10/2008 12:19

Morning All

Glad the new oven is working out well Ses! Please fax over some chocolate cake when you've made it!

BB- Im not expert but trust is a massively important thing... the other thing that I thought about a lot once we made the decision to TTC,is that when ever you do decide to have a baby things will be the same. Unless you have any big changes to deal with coming up. I.e same job, lifestyle to give up etc. Though i've always wanted kids etc suddenly knowing my life was going to change was a shock (after working for 10yrs after Uni) but I've dealt with that now and ready to move on and give everything to the child.

Im rambling now. Not sure thats helped much.

tink- we had fog here this morning but is now blue skys. think Im going to treat myself to a trip to town and look at some xmas shopping

Just been to have my hair cut and coloured and the price has gone up loads! about 25% shocked, kind of though it might have done bu still!

Right enough irrelevant chat, back laters

tinkisgoingtohaveagirl · 11/10/2008 12:16

hi

bp - sorry for row i guess it is something you need to discuss having a baby if it is both what you really want

diege - teas sounds good and chocolate cake mmmm.

i have just got back from town only bought chocolate it is nice and sunny.
good news is that plumber can come and fit new shower on tuesday he is getting us the shower too can get them cheaper. will only have to make do with baths for 3 mornings.
i am waiting for my battered sausage and chips for lunch dh and dd have gone to get it

SesHasapinkline · 11/10/2008 10:16

Morning all

BB - it will be a huge change in responsibility for him I guess which he's going to have to accept. I think sometimes the problem is they don't realize the change until it hits them. Having said that, I think generally men adapt more easily.
I know I'm going to find it difficult being dependant on DH's income. Fortunately he earns enough that we should be ok. I've always been quite an independant soul though and will feel guilty spending his hard earned cash on things that I want.
Sorry - rambling now...

Well cooked steak & chips with veg for tea last night (at DH's request!) and new cooker seems fine. It's just v small which we can't do anything about as the gap was only 50 cm. I'm doing Christmas lunch for 6 this year and not sure how big a turkey I'll be able to get!
Bought ingredients for chocolate cake so may do that today!

BBeingpatient · 11/10/2008 09:34

can i ask you all something?

In the current economic climate, as a non house owner (renting), with a debt of own (loan) but no other real debts (occassionally into overdraft) and a reasonable job which pays quite well and which i cld keep after a baby possibly
AND
with dp who is in overdraft alot(but swears on life to be out of after christmas, and probably will be as chrimbo and bday = money) but who also has a credit card, and owes parents money (not big deal only a few hundred and obv intrest free not fussed on repayments) are we irresponsible to want a baby?
Do you think i can trust/rely on such a man to provide for us? he does have a gd job, and qualifies (which = payrise) shortly but i mean how do you all do it?

i do trust him but at the end of the day its what it comes down to isnt it? although i will have some savings, and he will continue to work (god willing touch wood and all that) and obviously maternity does include some pay, how do we as women put our faith in and our futures in the hand of persons who even at 22 have to be reminded to farkin wash???it just frustrates me, in a way i think once im pg it will be a wake up call to him, and i know he doesnt mean to annoy me, be lazy etc but i just cant help thinking of who would get left holding everything together.....

sorry this is soo long just needed to vent, feeling a bit meh atm.

BBeingpatient · 11/10/2008 09:23

god why am i up so early? actually i know why...DP and i had a huge row last night, that included everything, how rubbish he is with money how lazy he can be....anyone else get sick of this shit? i mean i know he loves me but how can he keep screwing me over? men

tinkisgoingtohaveagirl · 11/10/2008 09:22
