Well I think we will just have to see what happens, my cycle when I am not on a pill is so erratic that it probably wont make a difference anyway.

Very excited about ttc, I was worried that I had nudged DP into it, but after we had a conversation yesterday where I ended up saying (genuinely) that I wasn't sure I wanted to ttc due to PND with DD1, he convinced me back saying he really really wants a child together (our 3 DDs are with ex-spouses). All systems go for the new year then.

Diege · 12/10/2008 10:34

Thanks Tinks, that's really useful . Have started a thread to fuel my paranoia anyway .

Just altering my official EDD.

glaskhamhasoneintheoven · 12/10/2008 10:20

wow Diege- i must have missed your positive testing!!! I was a day under 4 weeks actually pregnant when i tested with CD digital with the dating thingy and it said 1-2, so it may just be that you are only a day over 4 weeks or something... or maybe you have a very strong pg hormone (aren't hormones normally V V strong in PG after a MC??- or am i imagining that useless fact??)

glaskhamhasoneintheoven · 12/10/2008 10:16

well i thought i'd be turning 13wks on monday, but my scan puts me at 13+2 today, however she only altered the date i had by 1 day, so my 'official EDD' is actually the 21st april... exactly 3 years to the day that DD was due, and she came a bit early... hope this one doesn't arrive on her birthday!!

GYo- i did think i had the sickness under control... as it wasn't anywhere near as bad as it had been with DS, i would be sick a couple of times in a morning, skip breakfast, manage a bit of lunch, and then i'd normally pick at my dinner and then be sick or not have any at all... so really even though i wasn't being sick so much i wasn't eating enough either. so when the sickness hit me on weds i had nothing in me to begin with. I'm now a lot thinner than i was pre-pregnancy, and am still showing just as much as i was at 11/12wks... in a way i'm sort of hoping i can keep the weight off and it'll help me slim down after the birth.

Kay- how odd you woke up thinking you were off- i never did that when i was working, but i can imagine what a disappointment it must be!!

I had weird dreams last night about spending all DH's bonus money!! He's due to get it in his next months pay, we're fixing/replacing the boiler (whatever needs doing) and then DH is taking me shopping- we're going to buy the kids some more toys for xmas (i dont know why as we're already finished, but hey ho!!) and get me some more maternity clothes, and to find a pair of nice trainers for DH... think we're going to Cheshire Oaks for that... But i dreamt i went out and spent nealry all of it and came home with £300 left to fix the boiler and DH wasn't happy!!haha!!

Diege · 12/10/2008 10:04

Morning .Welcome Bratnav - you're in the ideal place here and will be made very welcome . Fwiw, as you're on the mini-pill the rules that apply after finsihed combined pill don't really apply re: waiting to ttc. Your fertility returns within 12 hours after stopping,( or even missing one (!)) the mini pill so technically you don't need to wait . Have I convinced you? (I conceived dd1 after taking one of my mini pills three hours late!).
Well, for all my rational waiting till af late, I gave in and tested (again) this morning Woke at 4.30 and couldn't get back to sleep so with pounding heart wee'd on e-bay cheapy - line came up quicker than Weds, and also darker. Yay!! With confidence buoyed then got CB digital with conception monitor and that was also positive . According to conception monitor I am '2-3 weeks' (ie, 2-3 weeks after conception, 4-5w traditionally pregnant. According to dates, would be 2 weeks today after ovulation (af due tomorrow), so pretty accurate (although I wonder why I got 2-3 weeks rather than 1-2 weeks??). See, another thing to analyse to death!
It's lovely sunny weather here - hope everyone is enjoying their weekend

kayzisexpecting · 12/10/2008 08:19

Good Morning.

Welcome Bratnav I hope you enjoy yourself here. I do agree with waiting at least for 1 normal period after coming off the pill. I didn't with DS and was given about 8 different due dates. Stupid doctors!!

I woke up this morning thinking I could have a lazy day but remembered I'm working today. For the first time in about 18 months. I'm so annoyed about it too.

I hope everyone is ok and enjoying the weekend.

GYo · 11/10/2008 21:23

Glask- great bean pic! Is 13 wks further ahead than you thought?

GYo · 11/10/2008 21:22

Hi Glask- great to see you are home and dont worry about the long post it was really interesting to read what happened. Sounds pretty traumatic... especially since you'd posted sometime last week about being a bit better!

Glad they've sorted you out anyway! Welcome back and enjoy your chinese.

Welcome Bratnav- as Glask says this is the right place to be - and very addictive. Somewhere there is a list of all the "wagoners" and where they are at - waiting to TTC, currently TTC or now a graduate and pregnant. The first wagon baby is due in about 9 weeks!

About the questions, I agree with what she said about coming off the pill with time to get your cycle back to normal. Also then when you do get pregnant you will know your dates better. Also 3 months or so for the folic acid is about right. Cant do any harm anyway.

Right mega post! But will find the list for you

glaskhamhasoneintheoven · 11/10/2008 21:00

pic of the little bun in my oven is now uploaded to my profile!!

glaskhamhasoneintheoven · 11/10/2008 20:55

bratnav- this was originally a thread for those waiting to ttc... just its so much fun and so blimin addictive all is PG wagoners have stuck around!!

i think the normal recommendation is to start taking something like pregnacare about 12wks before you plan to start ttc which includes all the folic acid you will need while pg too. And i think you're supposed to come off the pill 3 months before you plan to ttc so its flushed out of your system and your body can cycle naturally.

bratnav · 11/10/2008 20:23

Oh, and if I am allowed to join, this will be DC3 (plus there is DSD, so DC2 for DP)

bratnav · 11/10/2008 20:21

Hi,

Not sure if I am allowed on here yet, DP and I have agreed to start ttc in the new year, or perhaps over Christmas if I have a little too much to drink and forget my pill for the last few days

A couple of questions if you don't mind?

  1. When should I start folic acid?
  2. Does it matter if we start ttc straight after I come off the mini pill?

TIA and tell me to bugger off and start my own thread if you think I need to.

glaskhamhasoneintheoven · 11/10/2008 19:22

Jesus- that was miles longer than i thought- dont blame you all if you dont read it!!

glaskhamhasoneintheoven · 11/10/2008 19:21

evening all- well i'm now home, on bed rest, but allowing myself to do things as long as i dont feel too worn out.

Thanks to all of you for the well wishes, It all happened so fast really that it was a bit of a shock to the system... luckily enough my consultant was really nice and said as long as i ate 3 meals a day and drank plenty of fluids i could come home asap.

It all really started sometime last week, had a couple of days of awful sickness, but didn't see it as anything to worry about. since then i realised i hadn't properly kept down more than about 3 meals... anyway on tuesday i had a pretty rough day, then weds i was being sick all day, every 10-20mins, thought i'd cope, i couldn't really do anythign else as DH was away in birmingham. went to bed at about 7.30pm, and at 8ish i started throwing up loads of blood, but DH had drank a pint or so by then so couldn't come home so i had to cope till morning either way...

I was then throwing up blood all night, hadn't eaten or drank a thing since tuesday at this point but being sick every 5-10mins through thursday night. Thursday morning i was barely with it, so weak and drained i felt like i was drugged, still throwing up, my parents took the kids at about 9am, and Dh was home for 11am, tried getting a call out GP but they wanted me to go to the surgery to see them. wouldn't see me before 3.15 at which point i was so weak could barely walk. Went in and he apologised loads and said he should have come out and just referred me straight to hospital.

Got to hospital and had to be on 2 drips giving me vitamins etc and one giving me fluids. they also gave me a jab to stop the sickness which hurt to buggery!!! but did the trick. By yesterday morning i wasn't being sick, the fluids etc were kicking in and i was just wanting to come home. I managed to eat 3 meals and drink 3 litres of water on top of the 3 litres through my drip. so my consultant said as long as i wasn't sick i could come home today... and here i am!!

Kids have been really shaken up by nothing being 'normal' over the last 3 days so they are being nightmares, my left arm isn't fully recovered from drips, but i'm able to have the next 2 days to recover at home before DH needs to go back to work. Also been prescribed some stronger anti-sickness medication and told to go to GP for another dose when i run out!! Wuhoo!!

I suppose it really taught me that i'm not superwoman after all and that not eating for days will harm me just as it would before i had kids etc to run around after!! so i was doubling my workload and it wasn't good for me!!

on the other hand i got a scan yesterday, which put me at 13 weeks, and got a pic, will upload it next time i'm on!! was nice to see that everything is real and growing normally despite the hyperemesis!!

LaTour- sorry your also in hospital- gall stones doesn't sound nice at all!! DH's aunt had them a few years back (along with lifelong problems that weren't discovered till then) and i remember her saying it wasn't so nice- wishing you a speedy recovery!!

Kay- nice to see you back!!!

will catch up more when DH allows me off the couch long enough to type (only managing to get on now as he's popped to get chinese for tea!!

tinkisgoingtohaveagirl · 11/10/2008 18:18

kay - sorry that you have been feeling unwell today

kayzisexpecting · 11/10/2008 17:02

Oh I might have to make that cake soon.

We were going to make pizzas today but couldn't find a recipe that didn't involve buying a packet of pizza dough mix which they don't sell anywhere here. So we cheated and have bought some pizza bases.

SesHasapinkline · 11/10/2008 16:58

Just stewed with raisins at the moment but pie tomorrow. You're right - have to have custard with it!

OP posts:
Diege · 11/10/2008 16:48

Thanks SES! I have most of the ingrediants in so will try it put next week .
Mmm, are you making apple pie? If so, could you please use shortcrust and heat up some fresh custard too please - really fancy a slice!

SesHasapinkline · 11/10/2008 16:24

cake recipe as follows:

225g margerine
225g caster sugar
4 eggs
30g cocoa powder
200g self raising flour
1and a half teaspns baking powder
Optional 150g chopped dairy milk

It makes enough for two 8" sandwich cake tins

Don't know what's got into me today but I'm now cooking stewed apple from apples from our trees!

OP posts:
SesHasapinkline · 11/10/2008 16:19

Tried posting a lovely long paragraph about half an hour ago and phone switched off mid way - grrr!
DH and I are just tucking into some chocolate cake - it's actually quite yummy! Sending some over with an extra large slice for LaTour together with a wish for it not to affect the gall stones!
LaTour - hug from me on it's way too. I can understand why you're feeling so down. Life's just not fair sometimes and I wish there was an easy way to look into the future and see everything ok. There's not but I'm sure things will work out - it's just not always on our timescales.

Kay - sorry for your day too.

OP posts:
kayzisexpecting · 11/10/2008 15:48

Hello,

LaTour - Sorry you are having a rough time. I do agree with Diege, you really deserve some good news soon. Gyo is right about it being keyhole surgery. My MIL had it done last year. She was out the same day too I think.

Glask - Glad you are feeling better and will be allowed home soon.

BB - I hope that you can sort things out. Hopefully as soon as you can as its easier to try and sort things out before the baby is born so you know how things will work.

I've had a fairly pants day today. Woke up feeling pretty awful, started having Braxton Hicks while out getting some shopping and they were quite painful. Plus its war weekend here and its absolute heloo on earth.

I hope everyone else is ok.
