Don't be so hard on yourself, Cal. No one expects you to be anything near 'normal' at the moment, so if you feel like you need to cry, let yourself. I don't think there was any rhyme or reason to how I felt in the days following my mc - sometimes fine and positive, while others just simply devastated. In the end, I took solace in a bottle of Jim Beam - somehow the alcohol allowed me to get everything that I was feeling out without any hinderance, if that makes any sense. It's not something I'm particularly proud of (I think DH was seriously worried about me) but ultimately, it helped me.

Your DP sounds fantastic, so please let him take care of you. Take some time to comfort him as well - if he's anything like mine, he's hurting too but trying to be strong for you.

I hope this doesn't sound completely patronising - I know what you mean about the cliches - I felt the same. Stay well {{{hugs}}}

GYo · 28/08/2008 20:15

Hi Cal
Great to hear from you. I've not had experience but it must be very normal to be up and down. Maybe you just need to go with it for now...
Re wine, I agree with Ses, a glass shouldnt be too bad, might just avoid getting sloshed just yet...

How is you DH dealing with it all?

Faxing over chocolate biscuits- the best thing I have here!

Hi Cal. Thanks for posting. I definitely say in these circumstances crack open a bottle! Not sure when your last dose of paracetamol was but if it's within the last 4 hours maybe just stick to one large glass but if it's longer ago than that have a couple of large ones. I know strictly speaking the two don't go together but as a one off and with standard dose of paracetamol and not 2 large bottles, you'll be fine. Just bear in mind that it may make you a bit more sleepy than normal and that after the last few months with no alcohol your body will probably notice it a bit more anyway!

Sorry that was an awfully long paragraph! (Pharmacist in me making sure I cover all bases!) In summary: HAVE SOME WINE!!!!

Don't worry about the tears. My SIL told DH it was good for me to cry and after the first few days he started pinching me. When I asked him why, he said because I had to cry and I hadn't shed any tears for a few hours!! Just remember anything goes in this situation and we're all here for you. x

Evening all - broadband connection has down when I could really have done with it, although it has encouraged me to do a little bit of tidying up. I can actually see some carpet in the lounge now.

I don't know if I'm up or down really, I guess things will be a bit like that for a few days. I hope the hormones don't ravage me too much. I strongly suspect the that the lack of nausea, tiredness, sore boobs or any other symptoms indicate that my hormone levels have probably been tailing off for a while. I've got to go back to the doctors in a couple of weeks to have a blood test to check my hcg levels are dropping off ok. I asked about ttc again and the doctor said it could be as soon as I'm ready, but better to wait till after a period so that timing isn't confusing.

The ridiculous thing about it is that I keep bursting into tears but don't actually know what for and I'm actually finding it a bit annoying - is that weird? Kind of a battle of head over heart I guess.

I've texted the people who knew and said I don't want to talk about it, mostly cause I really don't want to hear all the clichés, even if they are all true .

Thanks again for thinking of me and posting your thoughts, it really has helped me lots. I don't have much RL support so what I get from you lot is all the more important to me.

There's a part of me that really wants a glass of red, but head is saying it might not be so sensible after the drugs and blood loss today...perhaps I'll save my first tipple for the weekend...unless everyone says I'm being daft in which case I'll crack it open now..

Christ, can you tell I've missed MN (even though I've only been without it for a day!)

lardybump · 28/08/2008 17:47

Oh have you got any coffee??? now the MS has gone I am craving coffee (decaff of cause). And I am always hungry now so think I will take a whole packet of biscuits to go with it............ ummmmm nice.......

I need a sugar fix as feeling a bit down today, dont know why (but having a pillock of a DP isn't helping)!!!!!! DD is teething again (how long will this go on for) an I think she is getting another chest infection (sounds really wheezy) so that isnt helping either.... me me me me me I am soooooooo boring...

NatalieJaneIsPregnantAgain · 28/08/2008 17:33

Not for me thanks, we stopped for a muffin and coffee in town, never had such a sickly muffin in my life, still sat there and ate it all though But think I've had enough sugar to last me a little while.

Ah sod it, one biscuit won't hurt will it?

GYo · 28/08/2008 17:20

Starshinetiger · 28/08/2008 16:32

Cals - so sorry to hear your news. Have been thinking about you all day, but for some reason had it in my head your scan was at 2pm and not got on until now. Your positive attitude is admirable. I think you're so strong and you are right, it will have happened for a reason, but that doesn't make things easier. Glad you have your lovely DH to look after you and that you will be with family this weekend who can wait on you and look after DS.
Even though we don't do them, sending you a big

GYo · 28/08/2008 16:19

Hi Everyone

Cals- so sorry to hear your news but at least you can rest and recover now. Take care of yourself, hope to see you here soon when you feel able.

Hi Nat - Glad your weekend went ok, sounds tiring!!.. I certainly dont envy your trip to tescos tonight though.

Please can you fax tea over to me too please? I'll supply the biscuits

Tink - good luck with the scan in case I dont get on later (seems unlikely!)

hi everyone else...

NatalieJaneIsPregnantAgain · 28/08/2008 16:12

Sorry just realised it seems like I have completely forgotten Cal , we have been talking on and off over the last couple of days, so she already knows I am thinking of her.

NatalieJaneIsPregnantAgain · 28/08/2008 16:09

Hello everyone

Thanks for the new thread GYo

God we have been so busy, had mum and her foster son all over the weekend, they left Tuesday, yesterday we started clearing out DS1's room to make way for DS2, today have been shopping in Blackburn, am now absolutely exhausted, but have to face Tesco tonight....

Anyway, how is everyone? I have tried to catch up at points over the week but TBH didn't get very far, and have forgotten everything I did read anyway, not like me at all

Welcome to the newbies, lots of good luck!

Is it Tinks scan tomorrow? Very exciting

2BG thanks for the congrats! Names, jury is still out, but DH is going off Ned, says it sounds too much like Nerd, so I give up, can easily see this baby getting to 5 weeks and 6 days old with no name...! How are you anyway?

I have just bought some new perfume, so am swanning about sniffing behind me as I go

Time for a cup of tea methinks

2beautifulgirls · 28/08/2008 15:53

Hi Cal, so sorry to hear your news.
I have decided to take a lickle break from the thread, just for my own sanity really, reached the 6 month mark and feeling like it was never going to happen.
Will keep checking in and try and keep up

SesQal · 28/08/2008 14:30

Cal - just checking in via my phone and really sad to see your news. At least you're not in the not knowing turmoil now and no op needed but I'm sure that's not much consolation.
As you know, I (and others) have experienced similar so please "use" us if it will help.

Playingthe9monthwait · 28/08/2008 14:18

Cal - it does sound dodgy!!!
