Thought I'd start a new thread for those of us who are out for May. Love to see some of my old friends here as well as maybe some new ones

Hi Still no AF here I think I'm 5 days late and I'm dying to test but I've tested twice in the past few months and no luck so want to be really late and also I'm not 100% sure of my dates so I'm just waiting. But very tempted and have a test here. I'll try to wait till wednesday. No other signs yet.

rosyleecupoftea · 06/09/2008 16:38

Can I join? Have only been trying for one month - AF came this morning about 5 mins after I'd done a test, which was of course negative. Very frustrating, wish I hadn't bothered to test now!!

I'm ttc no 4. Have 3 dc's age 7 5 and 3. Took me 18 months to persuade dh to have another and he still isn't what you'd call keen. He thinks I'm mad but is willing to indulge me. However I don't feel I can go on too much about it which is why I thought joining this thread may be helpful.

littlemissmischief · 06/09/2008 15:41

MrsMcJnr - Wow I said something interesting - thats a first cant remember what it was either, oh was it when i said about ov whilst still bleeding maybe? Funny you should say about the CM i never knew anything about it till this thread and was going to ask also does it appear around the same time as ovulation, cos I had lots yesterday and a thin line on my Ov stick, gonna do one in a min so fingers crossed for a dark line then the BD can begin!

MrsMcJnr · 06/09/2008 14:57

Hey ladies don?t think we?ve been BDing enough recently but as I?ve still not had an AF and CM is confusing I still don?t know what stage I?m at, frustrating!

Littlemiss ? embarrassed now sorry for being nosey but something you said before (and I can?t remember what!) made it sound intriguing! I know that I usually OV on CD17 or 18 but I only have a 28 day cycle as I have a short LP (If I get to 11dpo I get really excited!) . I guess there are so many variations that?s why it is so frustrating that drs still use those stupid tables! As I understand it, a woman?s follicular phase can vary in length from cycle to cycle but the luteal phase rarely changes. Do you check CM too? I find it a much better indicator than the OPKs

Lovelymonster ? might be worth trying to work out which part of your cycle is the shorter bit if it?s the LP and it?s less than 10 days, there are ways to try to prolong it which means it?s more likely that an egg will implant short cycles are great in one sense, if a cycle is unsuccessful, you get to try again quicker Hope you have a lovely time in Italy. I think someone wise on here said that alcohol doesn?t cross over until after the 6th week anyway but I?d do like you said personally and just take it easy on the booze. Hope you get a holiday BFP!!

Michealas ? welcome, hope you make the most of all the BD opportunities!

Febes ? isn?t it unfair that the early signs of pregnancy as so like those of AF?! Fingers crossed!

Bexaa ? I know that feeling!

Waitingtoexhale ? maybe one of the OPKs is more sensitive than the other? I think you can get ones that range in sensitivity. (just read that you got the +ive on the less sensitive one ) I think one of the reasons OPKs don?t work well for me is that I have LH surges throughout the first part of my cycle. My levels build up until I finally OV around CD17/18. Apparently lots of people with PCOS can?t use OPKs for that reason. Sorry to hear about your MC hon

1littleprincess ? welcome so sorry to hear about your loss (it?s happened to me too ) hope you get a nice strong BFP soon After my MC at 12 weeks, I had a cycle which lasted over 40 days and then things got back to normal pretty quickly, hope that things improve for you soon.

Welcome Sans04 I?m in Spain so a non UK lady too! Yes, it is possible to ovulate on CD9/10, even on CD8! Sounds to me like the usual ways of checking OV won?t apply to you at the mo though because you will be hyper simulated. One of my friends had her baby using IUI, all the very best!

Twoplease ? good luck hon check out these stats for likelihood of a BFP depending on the day you test: 10dpo 35%, 11dpo 51%, 12dpo 62%, 13dpo 68%, 14dpo 74%, 15dpo 80%, 16dpo 88% and 17dpo 92% - so another 8% don?t get a BFP until 18dpo!!! Those stats always stop me from testing before 12dpo at least!

Sammysam ? when I was TTC #1, it took me 9 cycles and I tried something new each cycle to make myself feel like that cycle might just be the one! Hope it happens for you soon.

Oh Mintchocaddict ? that sounds interesting! Could have been an implantation bleed and not AF at all!! Hope so

Welcome madmarriednika hope you get that June baby!!

madmarriedNika · 06/09/2008 12:59

Hello all,
I have watched this thread for a while and now I can officially join in as AF arrived yesterday...
I'm TTC#3, on CD2 of a regular 28-day cycle, and this is only a 3rd month of trying. Feeling more hopeful this month as DH & I will actually be in the same place most of the month so more chance for BDing!!
Am very fortunate that my 2 DCs were conceived straightaway once we started trying- so I've never temped or used OPKs or anything, and hope not to have to after this month with any luck!

My DD is a June baby and I think it's a lovely month to have a lil' un

Good luck and lots of baby dust to you all.

Sans04 · 06/09/2008 04:06

thank you LittlePrincess.
yas I have 25 day cycle, but do you think that the 27mm follicle was big enough to be releaded, cause when I had the scan I was on CD 9.

MintChocAddict · 05/09/2008 22:28

Hi All,

I used OPK when TTC DC1. Totally confusing results TBH so not planning to use them this time round.
I have friends who swear by them but they don't seem to suit my slightly bizarre cycles.

Littlemissmischief - Will continue to guess with you. AF arrived on Wednesday but promptly disappeared again. Arggggghhh! Expect that it'll all kick off again over the weekend!

1LittlePrincess · 05/09/2008 19:07

Hi all.

Sans04 I think that it is definatly possible to ovulate as early as CD9/10 Ovulation is usually dependant on your cycle length, ie shorter cycles ov earlier than longer cycles. However, your cycle length can also change suddenly so even if you usually have longer cycles can suddenly just have a short one. Fingers crossed that you caught the egg if you did Ov early.

SammySam Im with you dont think that I could be able to get my head around OPKs so am hoping that I wont have to use them, however my cycles are so messed up at the moment that I may have to try them, but I like you know I will drive myself mad by becoming obsessed with them

Waiting2Exhale Sorry to hear of your m/c too. Im hoping that my cycles willstart to settle down soon, used to be 32 days and since m/c were between 38-42 days but then just had a 20 day cycle [hmmm]

Heres to us botn getting BFP's soon, so we can have nice big bumps for next march/april

Still havnt had a chance to read through the whole thread yet, hopefully ill be able to catch up tonight!

Sans04 · 05/09/2008 13:13

thank you twoplease, actually I was on IUI for this month but my dr canceled it because I had 4 follicles 27mm,11m on the left ovary, 21&19mm on the right ovary, but then i didn't listen to him and i had intercorse since CD 9, I test with OPK from CD 10 I do'nt know if that was possitive because it was my first time to use OPK, I could see both line in the same dark color and as I continued the test line is became lightertill today I had only one line , so what do you think.

sammysam · 05/09/2008 13:09

Hi to everyone-new and old!
Not keeping up very well with the thread-they always move too quick for me

OPKs scare me as i think i might bcome obsessed with them! Saying that though give me a couple more months and i'll have changed my mind!!! Sorry i can't be of any help-does sound odd though-surely that shouldn't happen

I'm quite envious of people with shorter cycles-lots less time to wait! Twoplease-i'd love 25 days-mine are between 33-36 days-its such a long time means there are less chances in the year.

Am trying to be positive at the mo-just sometimes it is hard-i have to just snap out of it

twoplease · 05/09/2008 12:55

Hello all,

welcome to anyone I haven't already said hello to before

Waiting2exhale - I am as confused with OPKs as you so can't offer any advice at all - i bought some ebay cheapies and had some faint positives but nothing definate which has now made me worry that i'm not ovulating at all!! think i will given them a miss next month to be honest. Sorry - that is no help to you though, hopefully someone else has more experience.

sans04 - i think i have read other posts where people have ov early, i think i do sometimes too as i have quite short cycles - again, i'm sure there are people with better knowledge than me who can help.

think i am CD 15/16 today so heading into the 2ww but am DEFINATELY not going to test before 28 days even though i usually have 25 day cycles. Help me all!!

Sans04 · 05/09/2008 08:08

Hi all
can I pls join you to from Australia.
I wonder if anyone can give me an idea that is possible to ovulate at cd9 or 10. cause i think that i've ovulated at that time for this month. is it possible/ I ttc for abot one and halfe year now.

Waiting2Exhale · 05/09/2008 01:03

1littleprincess welcome....sorry about the m/c...am a bit like you on in that I too had a m/c early march and have be trying to get a grip of my cycles ever since.....Arrg

Febes...wow you have nerves of steel...don't think I could hold out that long...GO GIRL....

Waiting2Exhale · 05/09/2008 00:51
Hmm
Waiting2Exhale · 05/09/2008 00:49

Can I add that the old OPK [One Step LH Urine Ovulation Test] sensitivity is 25mlU/ml[showing negative], whilst the new OPK [ACON Easy Prediction Midstream Ovulation Tests] is 40mlU/ml [showing positive].

1LittlePrincess · 05/09/2008 00:16

Waiting2Exhale:

OPKs confuse the hell out of me, which is why I have never used them

Hope that someone comes on that can give you some advice though

1LittlePrincess · 05/09/2008 00:12

Hi All

Can I please join you?

I am TTC#2 on CD7.

I have one DD who is 3.5 years. I sadly had a m/c in April 08 @ 7 +3 weeks, and decided to take a break from TTC for a while. I was on TTC before but I'm not sure if anyone will recognise me or not. Since m/c cycles have been all over the place so have no idea when Ov so just gna BD as much as possible !

Hope that this month is lucky for All and heres to those 06/09 babies

Waiting2Exhale · 05/09/2008 00:02

HELP.....

Really would appreciate some help with this...

Have been testing the last two days with two different opk sticks and both say conflicting things. One says positive the other neg... both taken the same day over two days with the same results...how can this be?

Am CD13 today. Don't usually ovulate until CD 16 or 17. The last two months however this has become early, i.e. CD15. On CD11 I used one of the new OPKs I had brought which said [+]. However this would mean I was likely to ov that day or CD12 which is way early. Having seen that, I used one of the few old (but in date) OPKs I had left in the same urine sample but it was [-].

How can this be? Which OPK should I believe? Is it possible that different OPKs pick up the LH surge at different levels?

Bexaa- I'm going to try to wait another week as I've tested twice in the past feww months and its been BFNs so this time I want to be at least a week over due. I've got my free test as well so don't want to waste it.

LovelyMonster · 04/09/2008 20:50

Hi all, can I join please?

Lovely husband and I are TTC #1 and I am CD6 today. About to go on holiday (off work for 2 weeks, giong away for 1 in the middle of those 2) so am hoping there will be lots of time for BD this time (am on cycle 4 of TTC).

I would love a June baby, and it would be very convenient for maternity pay too. Am very excited about the whole idea, and frustrated that it can't all happen immediatley - I want a BFP NOW!!!

Anyway, good luck to all you ladies and lets all get lots of BDing over the next few weeks.

LovelyMonster · 04/09/2008 18:51

And good luck to everyone while im away. good thoughts coming your way
