Anyone Planning To TTC From October

VeryKeenForABean · 23/08/2008 20:49

Hi, I had an ectopic in May and am coming up to the end of my 3 month wait following methotrexate treatment. Need to wait for blood results in September but hope to start TTC from October. Feel really positive about the future and want to start looking forward. Anyone want to pass the time with me?

Thanx, its really hard when you have the symptoms but nothing happens isnt it, patience has never been my strong point! Still it's my husbands birthday today so going to go & celebrate in Cardiff & let my hair down for a change!

SuziBhoy · 07/11/2008 13:44

hi dawn

well im kind of in the same boat.......

ive just finished 3 months of the pill after methotrexate and my af has been and gone. i think i took my af around a week after being off the pill. I never went to my doctor but i remember her saying the time period can range from anything between a week and a month, so i wouldnt worry too much. everyone reacts different to methotrexate.

i found it really hard waiting... i bet you are too!!

but congrats on ttc again x

VillageMum · 07/11/2008 11:21

dawn, hello, sorry I don't know anything about methotrexate and AFs, but if you're having all the symptoms then that sounds promising!

dawn37 · 07/11/2008 08:30

Hi everyone, well nearly time to ttc again, very excited, however havn't had AF yet, but keep having all the symptoms. invested in a fertility monitor (was lucky & got an unused 1 of ebay for £20) its a 1st response 1, where you take temperature each morning. Does anyone know whether I should go to the doctor yet about AF, or how long it can take to get 1 after methotrexate? maybe being impatient!

VillageMum · 06/11/2008 14:38

Good luck bluesatinsash! sounds as if you've got it nailed! Yes, I'm impatient for the next cycle so that we can start. Feel we've done our bit for self restraint and 'recovery' now (though actually I was relieved yesterday that we weren't ttc as the ov pains were so weird! Didn't feel normal, somehow!)

Hi pokeydot, hope you get that BFP when you test again...

bluesatinsash · 06/11/2008 14:20

Here's hoping your AF comes right on time too this month VM - your DH better be storing up his energy for all the bding coming his way!

Well I got a +ve from my OPKs this morning - smiley face from clearblue digital.

I normally don't test 'til evening but was down to last one and wanted to use it before I bought any more - which I now don't have to (well not this month anyway).

So have/will be bding Tues, Wed, tonight and tomorrow for good measure - DH loves this time of the month and keeps commenting on how good his sleeps are just now...

VillageMum · 05/11/2008 22:13

bluesatinsash - yay Obama - I'll second that!!

I'm convinced I actually ov'd at 4pm today as the twinges reached an excruciating pitch just then and have tailed off since. Ha. This must be the first time Obama and ovulation have been mentioned in the same post (at least I hope so).

bluesatinsash · 05/11/2008 17:00

'tis funny you should say that VM as I remember commenting to DH that I could 'feel' my egg being released last month No twinges so far this month - on day 2 of OPKs, testing when I get home from work, getting the water down me for full bladder effect

p.s. Can I just say go Obama! I maybe biased being a bleeding heart Liberal but its a truly great day!

pokeydot · 05/11/2008 16:19

Hello VKFAB, so how are you getting on then?

x

VillageMum · 05/11/2008 14:26

Thanks olivo! I didn't know that, though the protein bit would make sense...

Bluesatinsash, I'm having the most incredible ovulation twinges in this first 'normal' cycle after my mc; did you have anything similar? It really feels almost like AF. I've heard of Mittelschmerz, but this is ridiculous!

olivo · 05/11/2008 13:53

i just wanted to pass on some advice i was given today, for all of us ttc or thinking about it. eat lots of warm food and plenyty of protein. maybe you all already knew that but I didn't! i'm not sure why but apparently it is supposed to help. twas my acupuncturist that told me.

VillageMum · 05/11/2008 09:40

Hi Suzi, if your periods are irregular that's because you ovulate at a different time every month (the bit that comes after ovulation, the luteal phase, is normally pretty fixed for each person). So you need to find out when you ov each time, as olivo says. You could start testing with OPKs every day from about cd10 and Fertility Friend is a great site that lets you do Basal Body Temp checking online (don't worry, olivo, I'm obsessed too!) Fingers crossed for you!!

olivo · 05/11/2008 08:22

suzi - if it were me and i had irregular periods, i would try keeping an eye on your CM to see when you seem to be fertile. or maybe use opks? I have just come off the pill and haven't had 'normal periods' for over 10 years - pill, pg, bf, then pill, so I am going to use opks for a couple of cycles to try and get an idea. not cheap though. i'm also monitoring my CM and using fertilityfriend to keep a track (oh, yes, i am obsessed beyonf belief!)

good luck with ttc, you're in good company here.

VeryKeenForABean · 04/11/2008 23:37

i can start ttc again woo

SuziBhoy · 04/11/2008 22:48

question ladies...........

when are you most likely to ovulate if u have an irregular period????

x

VillageMum · 04/11/2008 19:42

olivo, I totally know where you're coming from about people being intrusive with that question - in the past we were never asked that often as we were both so obviously obsessed with our careers... but then I got pg accidentally in July, miscarried in September, and now we find ourselves in the land of ttc (or almost) and that question seems to be on everyone's lips. I think your answer is a good one! I would also desperately like to be pg again but I'm not letting on to the outside world... only on here!
We will get there (with a bit of careful planning )!

olivo · 04/11/2008 17:19

LOL at you control freaks! Nice to know I'm in good company
VM - I admire your willpower at not trying this month but understand you completely that your body needs to be ready.
i'm fed up of people asking me when we're planning to have another baby, one friend just eeps asking, it's so annoying. my current answer is 'hopefully sometime'.
they just don't realise how much i would like another!!!

VillageMum · 04/11/2008 15:08

bluesatinsash, well, I have to confess that sitting it out isn't easy and is partly motivated by a suspicion that my body isn't ready yet (and so fear of another mc) - I just want to give any future pg the best chance possible. Have been trying to get my head back together again too, less easily done. As you say we all deal with it in our own way - but I must admit that you had me laughing with your description of your planning tendencies as I'm exactly the same! I'm already thinking, OK, if I ovulate on 5 November then a baby conceived in the NEXT cycle will be due on 31 August 2009... It's hard to switch my inner control freak off. I also had a full timescale for my previous pg all mapped out in my diary. Now those dates are still there, a reminder that the best laid plans don't always turn out the way we expect. Oh well. Roll on the next AF and I will be planning again, I know!

bluesatinsash · 04/11/2008 14:40

oh VM - that's great news that your ovulating, your body seems to be back to normal. Your so strong for sticking to your guns and sitting this one out, I really admire you.

I on the other hand have been ttc practically since I was discharged after having my mc but we all deal with it in our own way.

I have to mentally stop myself from saying if I fall pg on (insert date) then I'll be 12/20/40 weeks on (insert date). I'm a Project Manager at work and spend my days forward planning and setting timescales and its hard not to switch off. I practically had a full project plan with last pg - aargh!

DH and me did have the future mat leave/finances chat last night but its stil peppered with ifs/hopes/whens and he actually admitted that his confidence has been knocked since the mc. It was good having a chat about the future though...

eek, better go, think DS is waking from his nap x

VillageMum · 04/11/2008 14:21

bluesatinsash, I wasn't on any antenatal thread last time, nor even on Mumsnet - I joined MN in desperation after my mc as I just couldn't find this sort of support in real life (am still on the emmysangels thread - what an amazing group of women; they've kept me company, kept me sane...) If I had a BFP I would share it with the ladies there and on this thread but I'm not sure if I'd join an antenatal until 12 weeks as the mc has cost me my innocence about being pg. On the other hand, being on a thread might be hugely supportive during early pg niggles. Why not see how you feel once the BFP arrives? (BTW, I'd definitely not share a BFP straight away with anyone in real life again - 12 weeks would be it!)

Had +ve OPK today after worrying that cycles might be badly out of whack since my mc - surprised and pleased that ov seems to be within the normal range for me again, though we're still going to wait this month out to recover properly. Sigh. Trying NOT to conceive is no fun!

bluesatinsash · 04/11/2008 13:56

Hi All,

Just having my lunch while DS naps. Started my OV testing as on CD9, -ve today but CM is getting more abundent and thinner so fingers crossed for later this week..

VillageMum - question... Were you on an ante natal thread before your mc and if so would you go on one again next time round? I was one of the first on the April 09 one and miss the chats but am also ridiculously superstitious and wonder should I just lurk next time (fingers crossed) around until 12 week scan...

VillageMum · 04/11/2008 10:01

Hi olivo, go for it! Obsession is par for the course, I think...

olivo · 03/11/2008 19:15

ah, hi villgemum. in that case, i'm only on CD5 so just maybe.......
damn, i promised myself i wouldn't get obsessed!!
