Hi, I had an ectopic in May and am coming up to the end of my 3 month wait following methotrexate treatment. Need to wait for blood results in September but hope to start TTC from October. Feel really positive about the future and want to start looking forward. Anyone want to pass the time with me?

Thanks SuziBhoy :-) Yes we will be trying for our first, finding it hard to hold off ttc now that I feel emotionally ready, but know that the next few months at work are going to be very stressful and prob wouldn't help baby. You are right about no stress and positive thoughts. Are you trying for your first too?
I agree about trying to forget about others and focus on ourselves. It's sooooo hard though isn't it!!!

SuziBhoy · 29/08/2008 12:28

well littlewifey you fit in here

sorry to hear about your MMC

ikwym about the emotions when someone in the family announces they are pg, and in my case other side of family aswell, but im not going to think about anyone else at the moment, no stress + positive thoughts = happy baby environment lol

So will you be trying for your first?

Hi everyone,
Hope everyone is ok this morning? I had a mmc last December. We weren't trying but weren't not- IKWYM verykeen :-) We were really excited but then were devastated when we found out it was all over. Just after, SIL announced that she was pregnant (husbands side of family) and then four people at work have all announced their pregnancies. Didn't intend to wait this long to ttc, but every time a new pregnancy was announced it set me back emotionally IYKWIM. Anyway, am ready to ttc again now, but am waiting til start of DEC as I'm a school teacher and want to try to time birth for after six weeks hols as will mean end of my pregnancy is during hols and less stressful for me. I know after my last experience it might not work this way but am trying to think positive! Anyway, that's my story and I'd love to wait here if that's ok? Have sort of felt in limbo since, as hang around mumsnet but don't really have a thread where I fit!!!!

Hey

oh its good to talk to someone goin thru the exact same thing!! Well i went for my last follow up about a week ago and they said my hcg levels were in the negative, so just told me to go on some sort of contraception for 3 months. but as soon as i get a bfp ive to make an appointment with the hospital again for an early scan.

It gets irritable waiting though, but will be worth it in the end i suppose

So how are you feeling now?

x

Hi MsG,

It was my first pg - we weren't trying, but just not trying not to iyswim! I didn't know I was pg as I bled around right time for af, but had severe pain a week later. I know what you mean about trying not to be impatient. I think I will find it hard to not fall soon after ttc, just 'cos it happened so easily this time. Fingers crossed for you x

Hi SB, great to have another post metho friend! Hope you are feeling better. Are your HCG levels completely down so you can start taking folic acid yet? I have been prescribed microgynon but decided to stick with condoms for the moment as I had some weird bleeding and pain for a while and wasn't sure about confusing the issue anymore! I think it will be fine for you though, it shouldn't be any different to others coming off the pill. Heard somewhere it can boost your fertility? (Might be a myth!) Have you got any follow up booked?

Keep in touch x

Hi VKFAB

I am also waiting for the 3 months after methotrexate........ its a bummer eh?

Well I can start trying after 10th November, so i will pass the time with you?

Did you go on contraception? I am on the pill for the 3 months but am worried once i come off the pill that i need to give my body time to get the pill out its system. what u think?

MsG · 25/08/2008 13:46

That is great that it worked. And it looks like there is a very good chance of you conceiving again and it all working out. I keep reminding myself of the statistics of how long it takes on average to get pregnant etc. It's hard not to panic a bit as I got pregnant quickly last year and we're both a bit older now (39 and 35) and even though it's not old, we're obviously not as fertile as we were 10 years ago.

Was this your first pregnancy?

xx

VeryKeenForABean · 24/08/2008 20:41

Hi MsG, thanks for your reply. Sorry to hear about your mc, fingers crossed for you. The methotrexate is an intramuscular injection that helps the ectopic to stop growing and be reabsorbed into your body, hopefully avoiding rupture and the need for an op. It worked for me, but it does mean you have to wait before TTC again. You can read more here

Keep in touch!

xx

Hi there. Sorry to hear about your ectopic. That must have been very traumatic for you. It's great that you're feeling positive! I am TTC at the moment. Had a mc last June and it hasn't happened yet, but I'm trying to stay positive.

What does the treatment involve?
