Anyone Planning To TTC From October

VeryKeenForABean · 23/08/2008 20:49

Hi, I had an ectopic in May and am coming up to the end of my 3 month wait following methotrexate treatment. Need to wait for blood results in September but hope to start TTC from October. Feel really positive about the future and want to start looking forward. Anyone want to pass the time with me?

Well we've been bd'ing every other day since last monday so here's hoping!!! I think I am on day 13 or 14 at the moment. My last period started with some very light bleeding on the Monday and full flow on the Tuesday (sorry tmi!) I have read lots of conflicting articles which seem to differ on which day I should count as my 1st day but hoping we have done enought to catch the little egg!

VillageMum · 05/10/2008 16:50

LJ, Well, they say that EWCM appears in the two to three days before ovulation and that this, up to and including the day of ov itself, is the 'fertile window'. So if you have EWCM, go for it!!

Sue, hi, OPKs usually detect the LH surge 24-36 hours before ov (if you catch the surge at the beginning, that is - I'd say from your smiley face on the OPK that you ovulated on Sat evening, and that your LH levels had dropped again by Sunday morning, simple as that! Just a short surge, but nothing wrong with that!)

Good luck all!

Thanks VM, so when in this pattern do you think we should do the deed?

VillageMum · 05/10/2008 15:02

PS, Hi LJ - found this on a site called 'Fertility Friend'; perhaps a help?

?Typical? Cervical Fluid Pattern

While your cervical fluid pattern may vary from cycle to cycle and it may vary from woman to woman, a typical cervical fluid pattern looks like this:

Immediately following menstruation there is usually a dry vaginal sensation and there is little or no cervical fluid.

After a few days of dryness, there is normally a cervical fluid that is best described as "sticky" or "pasty" but not wet. While this kind of cervical fluid is not conducive to sperm survival these days may be considered as "possibly fertile" if found before ovulation.

Following these "sticky" days, most women generally notice a cervical fluid that is best described as "creamy". This fluid may be white, yellow or beige in color and has the look and feel of lotion or cream. At this point the vagina may feel wet and this indicates possible increased fertility.

The most fertile cervical fluid now follows. This most fertile fluid looks and feels like raw egg white. It is slippery and may be stretched several inches between your fingers. It is usually clear and may be very watery. The vagina feels wet and lubricated. These days are considered most fertile. This is the fluid that is the most friendly and receptive to sperm. It looks a lot like semen and, like semen, can act as a transport for sperm.

After ovulation, fertile fluid dries up very quickly and the vagina remains more or less dry until the next cycle. Some women may notice small amounts of fertile-looking fluid after ovulation as the corpus luteum produces small amounts of estrogen, but you are not at all fertile after ovulation has been confirmed.

Hello everyone, may I join? I discovered I'd had a mmc on 5 September (when I should have been 10 wks; the baby had stopped growing at 6 wks) - this would have been my second child; I have a lovely ds already aged 7. We weren't ttc with the recent pg at all, it just happened, but once we got over the surprise we couldn't have been happier and since losing the baby we've decided we'd like to try again. I'm now waiting for my first AF since the mc and will only ttc in the next cycle - so, maybe in late October, I hope!

I am 39 and have never actively tried to get pg before, so this is all rather new to me. I also feel my decrepit old age isn't a plus. Would really be glad if I could hang out here with you ladies for some moral support.

LJ29 · 05/10/2008 14:31

I'm also really confused about EWCM! What is the normal pattern for Cm in a cycle?

sue10 · 05/10/2008 14:25

Sorry i should have neither of us felt like BD not the other thing!!!!!

sue10 · 05/10/2008 14:23

Hi ladies, can i join in please.
After mc's i am ttc this month, however i am a bit confused as yesterday morning i had a blank face on the ovulation test (digital clear blue test) then in the afternoon the smiley face appeared, then this morning i tried again just to see of smiley face still there but it wasn't!!!! Any ideas as to how long the smiley face stays for (i thought it would be about 24hrs!!!!)

LJ29, i can understand what you mean, as soon as the smiley face was there it was all goooooooooo!!! Then again this morning but neither of us really felt like doing it (sorry for crap words) which takes the romance out of it a bit really!!!

Goodluck everyone

HI, I am trying to conceive baby number 3 at the moment. This is my 2nd month of trying which I know isn't long but a bit of a surprise to me as first 2 were conceived straight away. This week end has been the all important few days for BD'ing but really struggling with DH. He is normally all over me but think he is finding the demands of having to perform a bit stressful. Really frustrating as he doesn't seem to get the fact that the window of opportunity is so short. I've tried to make it fun and a little bit less of a military operation but i just end up feeling guilty for even trying to get it on!

VeryKeenForABean · 05/10/2008 13:41

Hi Dawn, have just re-read EPT methotrexate advice, and they actually say 12 weeks of folic acid before ttc again, but you can get levels checked before ttc and make sure they are normal. You can start taking supplements as soon as levels are zero, because the metho has worked and they won't interfere with its action now - check with epu/GP to be sure. Good luck x

Hi Spats - am trying not to think about it. Am more focused on being able to try again next month too as not sure we bd'd enough this time round. Have the tests lined up and ready!

verykeenforabean - glad found someone on the 2 weeks wait with me. This wekend has gone so slowley i am waiting for the week ahead as it rushes past with work and school runs etc and then will soon be time. Mind you i felt really weepy yesterday, possibly a pmt sign which put me in more of a bad mood- wasn't v. pleasent to be round yesterday!!! I just want to hibernate for the week, wait for AF and if she comes get on with trying again. HURRAY UP NEXT WEEK PLEASE!!!!!!!!!

dawn37 · 05/10/2008 13:29

Thanks for your comments girls, you've been really supportive, its reassuring when you've got people going through the same thing, rather than expecting you just to move on. Does anyone know when I can start taking folic acid, my last blood test said my hcg levels were now zero but I can't ttc until end of Nov

VeryKeenForABean · 05/10/2008 12:00

Welcome Pop!

Hi SuziBhoy - glad to hear you had a great time in Tenerife! It's so hard not knowing what to plan for the future isn't it! DH & I have always wanted to go skiing but wouldn't want to go if pg. However, if we don't get pg it would be good to have something to look forward to! Glad to hear pilates id=s going well. I am def feeling fitter than I was. Can swim quite a few lengths without gossip stops now! November is not far away for you and Littlewifey!!! Dawn, I had methotrexate in June, and found the advice from the Ectopic Pregnancy Trust so helpful. Have a look here. The advice varies but is essentially based around you having a measurable cycle and your folate and iron levels being back to normal. I waited 12 weeks from the first dose and had bloods done to check levels. You also need to have been taking folic acid for at least 6 weeks before ttc again. I was so desperate to start ttc again and completely understand the way you feel. However, I am glad that I managed to wait (with the help of MN!) as I now feel prepared and know I've done all I can to get it "right" and if something awful happens again, I can hopefully reassure myself with that. Thinking of you x

Spats - we are both on the 2 ww! Fingers crossed for you xx

I am enjoying a lovely w/e off doing v little - hope everyone else is having a good time too!

Yes littlewifey, I'm in same boat, my cousin just had her baby & noone wanted to say. I feel everytime a baby is in my vicinity, friends are watching my reaction, whoever said it on here about being in a goldfish bowl was absolutely right! Anyway, it is my wedding anniversary on Tues, so at least I will be able to drink (I'd rather be pregnant) I just hope I don't end up drunk & start crying, I've done extremely well keeping it together in front of people!

littlewifey · 05/10/2008 08:58

Hi Dawn, I'm afraid I don't know much about methotrexate, but I'm sure there will be someone along soon who knows about how long you should wait. You don't sound desperate at all, and I shall be keeping my fingers crossed for you. I know what you mean about the first grandchild- it was my inlaws first one too then I had a MMC. Then within a month, brother in law and his gf were pregnant. Baby is due this week- and I'm finding it really hard. I feel like a cow, but feel really jealous about it, although obviously wouldn't wish anything bad on them or the baby.
Spats- you are right- men have it SOOOOOOO easy! Keep us updated for the 2WW.
Suzhiboy- holiday sounds fab
Hello everyone else. Hope you are all having a fab weekend?

dawn37 · 04/10/2008 10:51

Hi everyone, I had methotrexate shot on 5th Sept, after a suspected ectopic (levels were slow rising-no pain or anything but too early to see anything on scan) finally had last blood test yesterday, my levels were less than 5. It was my 3rd pregnancy, but 1st with my 2nd husband, I feel so bad as he was so excited & it was my in-laws 1st grandchild. We are moving on but cant wait to ttc again, its been v traumatic for us as the hospital have made me go for bloods every other day until now (I think maybe they were secret vampires or something!) I'm a little anxious as I am 37 now & it usually takes so long to conceive, however this last pregnancy I managed it within 3 months of clomid, so have my fingers crossed all will be well when times right as my age is bothering me. Does anyone now when I would be able to try again..is it 12 weeks or 3 calender months? could mean difference between end of Nov or Dec (god I sound so desperate!) Anyway, good luck to everyone

SuziBhoy · 03/10/2008 20:26

ha ha spats, yes that sounds like an idea... i will coma back as a man aswell, so much easier. 5 days late? how long will you wait before you test? Let us know how u get on!

littlewifey - i stayed in a little place called sunningdale village (about 15 mins away from los cristianos), its a very quiet place but was lovely! i think i will be waiting for a holiday for a while aswell, if everything goes to plan

spats · 03/10/2008 17:36

Hi i have been trying this week. my opk was pos on mon evening so i have done the whole BD thing and now have the dreaded 2 weeks wait for AF. Sorry to hear about all your problems girls. I think i had a very early miscarriage last month - only 4 1/2 weeks, (didn't test as too scred but AF overdue by 5 days which never happens) but still upset. Thought it would put my cycle out of synch but was OK. We do have to put up with a load us women dont we? I am definately coming back as a man!!!

littlewifey · 03/10/2008 17:34

Hi Pop1973, welcome to our merry little bunch :-) I think October has come round pretty quickly too, roll on November!!! Suzibhoy- where abouts in Tenerife did you stay? I really want a holiday!!!!! Don't think there is much chance for a year or so now though- if everything goes to plan with conceiving etc.. (fingers crossed)
