Hi all,

lovelymonster it sounds like you are pg, is the line darker now than before? i would speak to a GP as it might put your mind at rest tho. I too have heard that you can have a normal looking af and still be pg, it does happen.

yellow yes sit tight, be calm and try not to think about it (hmm tell me the same in 2 weeks!) everything except legs is crossed for you!

villagemum thanks re opk, i think i'll pop to supermarket now DH is back as i am on CD11 of a 26 day cycle so close to bd time, if not i'll just keep busy for the next 3 days or so and check CM instead, it's stil sticky and am guzzling gfj like it's on ration!

Jools1 · 19/10/2008 12:26

lovelymonster - I've read that it is not unusual to get a near normal AF just after getting PG - it all sounds very promising for you

VillageMum · 19/10/2008 11:54

Lovelymonster, sounds to me as if you are pg. Only way to know for sure would be to get 48-hour comparative hcg blood tests done to see if those hormone levels are doubling or not. (How dark is that line on the hpt, by the way? If it's not getting fainter, than that's a clue...) I'd go see the GP... Good luck and babydust!!

yellowflowers, thinking of you! Sit tight if you can though it's just so difficult to do... Every day is another day closer!

LovelyMonster · 19/10/2008 10:41

Hi Yellowflowers,

Ive tried to read back over your thread to figure out exactly what hapened to you last month because i think the same thing is happening to me.

To sum it up we have been ttc #1 for the past 18mths. Had normal af on 13 sept.
Last sat (12th oct) af was due. I got a BFN in the morning then af arrived in pm. Af was fairly normal only really lasting 3 days as per usual. Then on wednesday i realised that my boobs were still really tender ( I think I had read this was the same for you). So I tested and got BFP (much to a great suprise).

Since then have had bfp every morning, sore boobs, and this morning nausea. wtf? Am i pregnant or not? If chemical pregnancy then how long does hcg stay in system? has anyone else experienced this and what was the outcome?

My plan is to see Gp thurs if still bfp by then. Any other suggestions? help!!

yellowflowers · 19/10/2008 10:30

Okay, so I possibly ovulated last Saturday, but more likely last Mon/Tues, which means if I was to early test (don't do it!!!) next Sat would be the first day I should realistically but that really I should wait until Mon/Tues or even if I can, Wed. Am going to try not to symptom spot and try not to obsess, particularly after last month.please help me...

nelix2000 · 19/10/2008 10:08

whitebeachesandcoconutoil · 19/10/2008 08:40

hey please can i join you all?
we started to ttc last month spur of the moment and so this is our 'first' proper month.
i've ordered some opk's as tbh my cycle can go anything from 17 to 35 days ,have also started epo by the way does anyone know how many to take the pack says up to 6 a day so thats what i took last month.,and will also be drinkink grapefruit juice by the gallon
i will be honest i may not post everyday but rest assured you will all be in my thoughts that we will all eventually get bfp's

VillageMum · 18/10/2008 23:08

Heebychick thanks so much for the warm welcome - it has really lifted my spirits! I have to smile too because I've just sneaked downstairs to consult my diary (aka conception battle plan) yet AGAIN, even though AF has only just started - and DH is watching football on tv and so is nowhere near the bedroom!!

I've read that if your cycle is 28 days long then cd11 is the day to start OPK testing, if 29, then cd12, if 30, then cd13, and so on (the idea being that you ovulate 24-36 hours after the OPK detects a surge)... So you should be bang on round about now. I buy cheap lab OPKs from accessdiagnostics online; they deliver within 24 hours:

accessdiagnostics

Their coupon code this month for a discount is the word 'thankyou'.

Oh dear. I sound like a nutter, buying bulk OPKs! They're not as plush and friendly-looking as the smiley Clearblue ones but on the other hand that makes it easier to use them liberally.

I guess I'm now going to go back upstairs to bed to READ.

I've added myself to the list, thank you!

Hi villagemum Welcome to our thread and firstly can i say i'm so sorry for your mc, i've been there and totally understand your pain and frustration. This thread is and has been my lifeline, i'm not saying that lightly either - god forbid any of the ladies ever leave !!! - many of us have been where you are and so this is a great place to talk, shout, scream, whoop and laugh! Come join us and don't leave until you have that BFP and trot off to the antenatal threads!!

Also i had to laugh at operation conception!! tee hee, i felt like that last nite, saying to DH 'right honey here's the plan, we will do 'it' this nite, that nite and then a break then the next nite, oh and take this vitamin and no you can't wear tight pants or cycle this weekend!'

Have thought about buying an OPK but am without a car (DH is away with it this weekend) so can't get to any shops as not near any big ones. when do you have to start using them ideally? i'm CD10 so might be a bit late to start?

VillageMum · 18/10/2008 19:01

Hello everyone, may I join please? I got pg with what I hoped would be my second child in July but had a mmc at the beginning of September. DH and I have been waiting dutifully for my first post-mc AF to arrive before ttc again - and today is cd1, at last! You all seem to clued up and positive and I could do with a little moral support... Needless to say I've been planning the next fortnight like a military operation (Operation Conception!) but don't want to put DH off with all the charting and OPKing... it would help if I could hang out here.

ExistentialistCat - I've also succumbed and bought Preseed. It arrived this morning; we've yet to try it!

yellowflowers · 18/10/2008 18:48

wooohoooo funtime so delighted. Hope it's the first of many for this month on this thread.

Erm, I'm not sure how it's happened (well I know roughly, obviously ), but I got a BFP today .

It looks as if I might have ovulated a week late as I took the anti-inflammatories for exactly a week. Oh blimey, I'm now a wreck as I'm terrified that I've done some damage by taking them. Fingers crossed that I'll be joining you over on the antenatal Nelix.

Please send lots of vibes. Given my past history, I need the embryo;

  1. In the right place.
  2. Not to be a blighted ovum.
  3. To hang on in there.

Does anyone want my leftover Martini, by the way, there's a good half a bottle?

Heebychick · 17/10/2008 18:42

Thanks pinkie i've just looked at the site and it makes total sense, i think our problem is the CM and timing, with DD i felt OV and then rushed DH home for a bit of BDing, and hey presto out she popped 9 months later! so i think we have been a little slack on the timing if i'm honest.

I'm going to buy an OPK tomorrow or some sticks and see what happens. I'm CD9 today so will get busy over the weekend and then all next week.

I am determined this month!!!!

pinkie08 · 17/10/2008 18:22

HiHeebychick

It says that if you are suffering from lack of CM due to stress or clomid or for whatever reason it is much harder to get pg as we all know you need the ewcm for it to be fertile environment for those little swimmers

basically you take a teaspoon of expectorant not antihistamine type of cough medicine from around day 10 until get positive ovulation by whichever method you use.

Apparently it thins all body liquids including CM and helps make it more fertile.

read about it on this link
sperm meets egg plan

lots of baby dust to you.

Heebychick · 17/10/2008 18:04

Well just to stop you all nagging me i did a test, it was BFN of course but not expected anything different. Had some more brown stuff today which is wierd, mind you i'm only CD9 so could be just a long drawn out AF.

I'm off to a friends tonight so will have a drink and lots of choc but after this am giving up alcohol totally, am thinking it might be stopping my CM as been drinking every nite (god that sounds awful!) so will see.

Have enrolled onto Fertility Friend too, did anyone do the lessons they send you or just learn as you go along? What therm do you use for taking temp? can i use a normal one or does it have to be a posh gadget one?

pinkie not heard of cough medicine myself but seem to remember someone else saying something about it? what does it say?

pinkie08 · 17/10/2008 17:20

Hi wannabmum AF is due Nov7th am on Clomid CD8 today and my first clomid month gave my 28 days so working on that.

Only been given 4 months prescription and last month showed on day 21 test that at 50mgs was ovulating so no tests this month..

c1ndy am loving the Preseed but havent found the grapefruit juice helps at all.

Has anyone heard of using expectorant cough medicine as written in sperm meets egg plan was thinking of giving it a go???

ExistentialistCat · 17/10/2008 16:15

Hi C1ndy

Re your question about preseed, I got it from www.preseed.co.uk - there's also info about it on there.

I don't know whether it really helps - it's sold as something that nourished sperm and thus helps you to conceive, but I doubt that much of it gets inside the cervix at all. BUT it's ve handy if all the BDing pressure is making lubrication an issue, as most lubricants kill sperm and this one doesn't.

I personally haven't found the CM-checking method much help as I don't seem to get the fertile stuff at all (although this could, of course, explain lack of luck in conceiving so far...).
