hahahaha oops sorry! We are a gay couple with a known donor!! Hence the yoghurt potting!! lol

funtimewincies · 28/08/2008 13:46

Sorry to hear that you've had a rough time makingafamily. Hope that you get some answers soon and fingers crossed for this month.

I know about the raised arse, but I'm agog to know what the yoghurt pot is for (or am I being very sheltered like wanabemum ?)

WanabeMum · 28/08/2008 13:05

hi makingafamily what do you mean by "raised ass yoghurt making"? sorry i'm a bit naive!

Sorry to hear about your results though. My sister has PCOS and she has to monitor her cycles regularly but they can test your fertility (which it seems they have) and they can give you tablets to make you ovulate at a certain time every month so not all doom and gloom!

Fingers crossed for you though xxx

Hey Ladies

Been a bit quiet as had some rather crap news on Tuesday evening, which i have now processed and put into prospective and am feeling much more positive about. As i think i've mentioned before my lovely GP has referred me for all tests so that she can refer me to my local fertility clinic so should it take us a while and we need some medical interventions it would already be up and running. Had all blood tests back a month ago and and STI and Hormone Fertility, Liver Function tests etc all ok. The last thing was an pelvic ultrasound which to my understanding was to check there were no blockages. so along i went on Tuesday, laying there, trying not to pee, with cold stuff on my belly being poked when the sonographer says "have you heard the term polycystic?" my shocked response "yes, but i'm not quite sure what its got to do with this!". Sonographer then kindly showed me on the big screen my polycystic ovaries and advised me he would contact my GP and i would be sent for bloods for further info. Went home cried, had a large Pimms, cried some more, spoke to the boys who were unconditionally supportive, cried more, got on google and then cried a bit less. Spoke to my GP yesterday who confirmed my hormone levels do NOT indicate PCOS and that approx 1 in 5 women have polycystic ovaries and to try not to worry. My FSH is 3 and my LH is 3.4 which i am lead to believe are ok. So essay over and back to feeling on track although am now CD 16, No CM, No +OPK's and No Peak reading on the CB Fertility monitor so sod knows whats going on. So looks like another few days of raised ass yoghurt potting for us

Once again ladies thanks for listening, well reading!!!

Hope your all well and looking forward to fabulous weekends

Hi Sparky, I'm on CD 14. I also get ov. pain on the side I'm ov. on and it's my left (good) side this month. Also it's usually a 28 day cycle from the left and a 30 day from the right so no pressure on dh .

Nelix, can I ask a personal question? Feel free to tell me to get stuffed as it's none of my business, but I'm curious to know whether you always knew which one of you would carry the baby or whether you had to come to a decision. Sorry that I'm so nosy .

WanabeMum · 28/08/2008 12:15

Hi ladies, heeby that's a long time to wait in limbo! although im not sure i'd go private because if you do need treatment on the nhs afterwards you will have to go to the bottom of the list like all the others so that may be even more frustrating! (depending on what you need done of course).

sparky i know what you mean. i can't believe that there is only a 20% chance of conceiving every month yet you see all these teenagers who had a "one night stand" and got pg! amazing. if i'd know that i may not have bothered with the pill!

I wish i knew how many DPO i was but because of how weird my cycles are all i know is i'm CD 17 but not sure when my AF is due because me cycle fluctuates from 28 days to 43!!

Nevermind. Keep positive.

SparkyMalarky · 28/08/2008 11:59

My DH jokes that to guarantee getting pregnant we should borrow his mum's car and do it in the back seat because it would have worked when we were 16!!

Funtime had the exact same frustration last w/e . What CD are you on? If you grab him tonight will that see you thru?

Heeby (and sorry nelix!) if you can get it quicker I'd pay. I had an early pregnancy scan to confirm MC privately after my awful NHS experience (although to be fair had my ERPC on the NHS and they were brilliant) and it was only £120. For my sanity it was worth every penny. You might just want to check it won't affect you getting treatment on the NHS tho..

How's everyone else? I'm now 6 DPO and no symptoms to spot!

nelix2000 · 28/08/2008 11:50

oh heeby thats a long wait!......well it seems long, my mum is waiting for surgery and is considered on the urgent list, that was two weeks ago and she still has no appointment!....so really your date is quite good. Once you are there I am sure the care will be excellent, only a handful of NHS doctors are w*nkers I would save my money. It must be nice having a date tho no?

funtime I can feel your annoyance.....it makes me realise why I am gay only kidding, (since it wasnt a choice lol) but I do feel lucky that my DP "gets" my hormonal side since she has it too and we can be crazy, yet understanding together. She feels what I feel and I feel sorry for men on so many levels because sometimes they just dont "get" us..... on the plus side you have him handy for "stuff" unlike us who drive 90 mins to pick it up once a month......jeez its weird lol!!! who would have thought making a baby was soooo much work!!!....when teenagers fall pregnant like...well teenagers!

OP posts:
Heebychick · 28/08/2008 11:16

There is always an up side! tee hee!

That's annoying about your DH, i had exactly the same situation on monday, my DH was too tired and when pushed he said 'but i thought you were going to be more relaxed now' and i am but not so relaxed that we just don't do it at all!!! still got him the next night so all good, hoepfully.

Oh i got my scan date .... 16th Sept!! argh!! and that is supposed to be urgent, rubbish huh. Plus if i'm not lucky this month i'll probably be having AF then, lovely. Might consider paying privately, what do you ladies think? i feel really quite rotten and fed up of feeling like this now, it's been about 3 months all in all.

funtimewincies · 28/08/2008 11:05

Arghhh, I know that I'm trying to be more relaxed about things this month but I could scream! Dh went for a drink (or several) with a friend after work yesterday and subsequently decided that he was 'just too tired', knowing that it's that busy time of the month. Now I know that he rarely gets to go out, but as I only have the one tube, we realistically have six chances a year rather than the usual twelve.

It's completely irrational to be so annoyed but I am, damn it !

Heeby - bless 'em, health professionals like to make these comments. At my first smear, the nurse made a comment about my funny cervix. It's only now I realise that the position of my uterus means that my cervix is slightly lower. If it's any consolation, the uterus usually moves into a more 'normal' position by aroud 12 weeks of pregnancy, although I never got that baby-on-bladder thing at the end, so maybe there are some advantages.

Ho-hum, better go and do some work .

Heebychick · 27/08/2008 20:56

Evening ladies, thank you for that funtime i didn't know that 20% of women had that, i remember my midwife saying something about the way my uterus tipped when she gave me a 'sweep' last time and i also had a difficult birth, so i wonder .....

Feeling yukky tonight, sore throat and tickly cough, and a bit blue as i was supposed to be meeting DH at a concert but our lovely DD decided not to go to bed and played up so much i sent the babysitter home and decided to give up on the idea of going out. This is after i'd spent a small fortune on the ticket and parking! ho hum, the joys of parenting.

oh and on the sperm lifespan thing, i'm not sure where i read about it but i agree that you can read way too much!!

funtimewincies · 27/08/2008 20:04

Hi to all those who've joined since I last checked. Getting to be quite a little group now!

Heeby - just to add that if they want to check your ovaries, it's likely to need an internal scan to get a good clear picture. This is especially true if you've got a retroverted uterus (tips backwards rather than forwards) like I and about 20% of ladies have.

Although I'm not charting my temp. this month I'm sure that I'm ov. at the moment, so AF might be expected 11th rather than 13th (or am I just giving myself an excuse to test 2 days earlier .)

Hope that you're all feeling good today and it sounds like sales of grapefruit juice are rocketing .

BeckyMcG · 27/08/2008 18:24

I'm good actually thanks nelix.....am feeling much better today. Even though it was an early MC it realy took it out of me for longer than I thought! I guess I expected that it would be just like a heavy period but I've just been exhausted. Everyone at work kept telling me I looked awful - thanks guys

With so many of us on this forum someone should get some good luck next month. I have fingers crossed for everyone. I have decided that I'm not going to actively try this month, of course I'm not going to use contraception either but I think we all know the chances of an "accident" here. I don't think I could try anyway as my cycle is all wrecked and I can never tell when I'm OV anyway. Then after I've AF next month I'll get back on the bandwagon as it were.

WanabeMum · 27/08/2008 18:18

Ooh also, is it true that you should only "try" every other day due to a reduction in sperm production? i keep reading conflicting information?! probably should stop reading so much stuff about it huh?

WanabeMum · 27/08/2008 17:47

Thanks for your advice heeby and becky, it is really exciting but have been TTC for the past 5 months with no success. This month I am determined!
i'll try anything so keep the advice, as quirky as you like, coming!

nelix2000 · 27/08/2008 17:42

becky hiya how are you?
CM is cervical mucus. Dehydration causes the body to hydrate places it needs and making CM is not high priority in the grand scheme, hence the more you drink the more you make.......?!?!....this is not fact, just info I have gathered and have experienced

OP posts:
BeckyMcG · 27/08/2008 17:31

Hi Wannabe.......you'll enjoy reading and contributing. I am a neewbie to and am enjoying it. You can talk about babies and conception all you want without people suspecting you're obsessed / boring / vaguely psychotic!

I have a quick one - what's CM? and why must I not get dehydrated?

nelix2000 · 27/08/2008 16:20

no worries x

Heebychick · 27/08/2008 15:24

nelix thank you so much, this really is very helpful, it puts my mind at rest and i now have more of an idea of what to expect so it is a real help, please thank her for me!
xxx

nelix2000 · 27/08/2008 14:18

heeby I asked the questions and got the following answers

"when i go for a scan will they scan my uterus or just my painful area i.e. right side only)?"

It will be an ultrasound (she assumes), but thats not my area of expertise. They will very likely scan the whole uterus including both overies.

"also is the scan external or internal?"

It will start off external, and depending on what they see and the quality of the pictures, they may decide to do an internal scope, but that can only be decided on the day.

"What would they class as a big cyst i.e one needing treatment? and (lastly) if the cyst is big does it affect other parts of you, for example pushing your tummy or bladder ?"

I have not much clue I am affraid(she does CT scans and xrays etc not ultrasound)

"wish you hadn't offered ???"

Glad to be of help!

Hope this is of some use!....really sorry i couldnt be of more help! x

Welcome wannabe you can feel as free as a bird to be as neurotic as you like on MN(mumsnet), we all are at times (read my previous messages on a thread last month!!) and that's what we are all here for, you are bound to be excited, it's amazing and believe me being a mummy is the best thing in the world. Totally life changing, and although i had fears about all sorts of things, as soon as i had my DD all those fears disappeared, it was all so worthwile.

Anyhow enough of my soppy talk! As for hints, try to be relaxed about it (she says!!haha!!) watch your body and look out for signs that changes might be happening, you will OV (ovulate) around 14 days before your first day of your period so try and guage when this might be and get active! every other day is supposed to be best (sperm can live for up to 7 days whilst the egg only lives for a max of 24 hours) and those little swimmers take a day or so to reach the ideal place to have a 'date' with the egg.

As for Grapefruit juice, it seems to be working today! i have even progressed from pink to normal grapefruit juice, the pro that i am! And we were BDing last nite and we wished our swimmers good luck afterwards! (weird couple we are!)

Thanks nelix i'm not sure what scan it is, she said she would ask for a scan of my right abdomen and pelvic area if that helps?

nelix2000 · 27/08/2008 13:39

hmmn jools I would say I am verging on between half a pint and 3/4
of a pint. A decent sized glass of the stuff anyway. Also make sure you drink lots in general, try to stay away from coffee as it dehydrates and you want your blody to make EWCM not draw essential fluids away from that area if you are dehydrated in general. Your body wont consider it a high prioroty to make enough CM if say, your body is dehydrated. Drink lots and lots of water.

hi ladies! can i join you? i've been watching for a while to try and figure out the acronyms or whatever you all use!
I'm on CD16 so have started "trying" again. my cycles are very weird so not actually sure when im due to ovulate. is it bad that im totally obsessed?! my poor DH can't take much more i don't think, so i try and keep quiet about quite how neurotic i am!!
keeping my fingers crossed for all of you. oh and does grapefruit juice really work? any other tips as we are trying for our first so kind of a newcommer!

Jools1 · 27/08/2008 13:05

How much grapefruit juice is best - does anyone know ?

I've just been drinking a small wine glass of the stuff every morning for the past week
