So sorry Ilovebeingamummy I had the same thing happen on my first cycle TTC - real BFP arrived on cycle 3, so I hope you don't have long to wait.

YellowFlowers - fingers still crossed for you. I had a nightmare with a Boots cheapie last week - couldn't work out if there was a line there or not so used a digital one - I'm now a fan, as the unambiguous words on the display are a real help.

Welcome ExistentialistCat

I am still lurking and wishing everyone well on this thread, but am very conscious that there are a lot of TTC'ers in this forum that have had persistent disappointments and don't want to upset anyone by sticking around too openly

WanabeMum · 26/09/2008 21:26

Aww ilove im so sorry. How disappointing for you. keep smiling honey xx

Yellow there's still hope! fingers firmly crossed.

Existential my DP is a man so can't comment on the male/female divide im affraid although from what nelix has said, her DP was very supportive so who knows? more than likely is a man thing, the whole bury-your-head-in-the-sand technique!
And as for the squeeky couch, yes that would have been very awkward! Is this your first?

Sparky i bought the SATC film on monday, a bargain £8 from Tesco so was very proud of myself. I'm yet to set a time for myself to watch this as DH REALLY not interested. I'm coming down with a horrible cold so could be a duvet day coming my way soon! SATC, chocolate, tissues, and decongestant.......nice!!

ExistentialistCat · 26/09/2008 21:09

Thanks for being so welcoming!

lol Wannabe and funtimewincies - looks like I've taken my borderline obsessive-compulsive disorder to the right place, then!

Is this not-wanting-to-know a bloke thing or is it the same if your DP is a woman?

I'm about to go and visit my parents for a few days so am rather pleased that I ovulated early in my cycle - wasn't sure how I was going to sell the idea of BDing on the squeaky couch in the living room to DH!!

Friendly thoughts to all who are having a tough or confusing time.

SparkyMalarky · 26/09/2008 19:58

Thinking of you Ilove..am breaking off a piece of Funtime's green and black for you (thanks for that hon, much appreciated )

Hello Existentialist - love the name This is a fabulous place to hang out and share all our woes!

Heeby - you all ready for your holiday? (lucky, lucky thing!) We shall expect a BFP as a result of ouzo (sp?) fuelled BD-ing when you get back!!

Yellowflowers - how you doing?

And how is everyone else? I've got the SATC film DVD, some haribo and it's friday! Hurrah

funtimewincies · 26/09/2008 19:34

Sorry to hear that Ilove, it sounds very much like my own experience earlier this year, a very faint positive and then bleeding. It's a horrible situation and lots of hugs .

Not much help or consolation, but my next period was exactly on time, so it didn't muck up my cycles or anything.

Yellowflowers, hope that you're in a better situation and the bleeding stops soon.

yellowflowers · 26/09/2008 17:57

oh ilovebeingamummy, I am so sorry. Much love.

Despite light bleeding for 2 days, so probs period, still have metallic taste. Did clear blue today (not digital) and faintest oif faint lines, as in I could easily be imagining it. Thing is, my imaginary line is slightly off centre, just to the left of centre in fact. Are positive lines always in the middle? This one is probably evaporation anyway.

Ilovebeingamummy · 26/09/2008 17:24

Just to let you know my tfp has ended in lots of bleeding today (well i think its lots - don;t know when to start accepting its all over for this bean niw). Will check back when i have got myself together a bit x

funtimewincies · 26/09/2008 14:03

Hi ExistentialistCat. Feel free to share those niggly little thoughts that cause dh's and dp's to run and hide the family rabbit!

When and how and how often and for how long and with what symptoms and of what consistency and in what position and how it compares to everyone else is important damnit . And they just don't seem to get it. Control-freakery is healthy and don't let enyone tell you otherwise!

WanabeMum · 26/09/2008 13:50

Hey ExistentialistCat welcome to our thread! You will fit in perfectly as most of us on here (heeby & myself in particular) have experienced the same thing with our DH's. This thread will allow you to be as controlfreaky as you like and still allow your DH to feel like you are "just waiting" to see what happens! Us ladies have to stick together.
Sounding positive for you too so will keep our fingers crossed for you!

Thanks heeby im convinced it will happen soon. Maybe your cyst just gets more sensitive around the time of OV? perhaps that's why it gets more painful then? just a stab in the dark but maybe?!

ExistentialistCat · 26/09/2008 13:29

Hello Everyone!

Please can I join you? I've been lurking on this thread for a few weeks and I feel like I know you all already!

A bit about me: I've just come off the pill, Fertility Friend tells me I ovulated on Monday (I'm sceptical!), plenty of BDing within the fertile window so now I'm justwaiting and hoping. FF tells me that the earliest I should test is the 11th of October, which seems like a terribly long wait!

I'm particularly interested in people's experiences of sharing all this with DH/DP. I love my DH to pieces and he is veryvery supportive, but he just seems so uninterested in the technicalities of conceiving! I'm fascinated by all of it, awed by what our bodies can do, but he says we should just wait and see what happens. I've never been a waiting-and-seeing sort of person and I'm not ready to relinquish my controlfreakery just yet!

Heebychick · 26/09/2008 13:03

Hi ladies ... well count me in, i think i am OVing too, (maybe yesterday tho) as had pains which have almost gone today and have been feeling sick and yukky, and just had some CM so maybe, just maybe i'm in too. gonna keep busy just in case .

I feel a little sceptical saying this tho as i am having similar symptoms to when i first had this cyst (altho didn't know it was a cyst then) so i hope it's not that and i'm back on track. hmmm.

wanabe fingers crossed you OV soon, with all this OVdust around how can you not!!

sparky so glad you are feeling better honey, try to keep that way and stay focused on each next stage.

i was with a friend last night and i was telling her about our thread and trying to explain what we talked about, and it was really weird that i couldn't say outloud the things we talk about on here, i was too embarrassed! all the TMI stuff etc, which goes to show what a brillaint thread and source of support this thread is!

WanabeMum · 26/09/2008 12:37

Oh didn't think of that, thanks nelix i'll keep my fingers crossed!

Thanks for the OV'ing vibes funtime but i don't thing it can miss the hormone levels as they say it picks up on the surge you get just befor it happens and i've been peeing on sticks for the past 9 days! anyway, what will be will bee! keep the vibes coming ladies!

funtimewincies · 26/09/2008 10:55

Also meant to send you hugs Smileycat after hearing about your op. Not sure it it's any help, but I conceived ds with only the one tube, so keep at it.

Can I be nosy and ask what happens when you lose an ovary. Does the other one ovulate each month or do you have gaps? Sorry to be personal, I'm interested as I've still got my ovary, so it ovulates and the egg just goes floating around to have adventures of it's own.

funtimewincies · 26/09/2008 10:48

Wow Smileycat and Bubble, it's happened just as I predicted, I'm ov'ing at the moment too. I feel a mass testing coming soon .

Ov'ing vibes to Wanabe. Can the fertility monitor miss ovulation, like the stick things can?

nelix2000 · 26/09/2008 08:02

Morning all!
wanabetry not to worry...I had a 32 day cycle and sometimes did not ov until between days 19-23....you may just ov later than you think! goodluck

OP posts:
WanabeMum · 26/09/2008 07:53

lol funtime syncronised cycles ...... it could happen!

Good luck smiley and bubble i'm sure your DH's will enjoy the next couple of days!

I'm CD17 adn still no OV according to fertility monitor keeping my fingers crossed it happens over the weekend otherwise there's little chance i am going to OV at all

smileycat · 26/09/2008 07:48

mylittlebubble I must be in sync with you, think I'm ov'ing at the mo. Its our 1st month of trying so DH is all excited about BD'ing for the next 5 days or so, lets hope it happens this month while hes still as obessive as I am

Mylittlebubble · 25/09/2008 20:32

funtime lol about our sync cycles

Well just been to loo and def ov'ing! When hubby gets back from band practise tonight he's not gonna know whats hit him!! Providing LO stays asleep tonight! She is teething

funtimewincies · 25/09/2008 20:09

Hugs and positive vibes being sent your way Sparky (passes over some forgotten Green&Blacks from the back of the fridge).

Ladies - I was wondering the other day whether we're in any danger of synchronising our cycles given how much time we spend in each others virtual company .

SparkyMalarky · 25/09/2008 17:37

Thanks Wanabe - exactly what I needed to hear

This thread is totally fabulous (well done Nelix!!)

yellowflowers · 25/09/2008 16:46

Just hot baths - I love them scalding hot and wallowing for ages and apparently that's not goodf if you have a newly fertilised egg in you. So I restrict mine to the first two weeks of cycle - probably just going overboard...

WanabeMum · 25/09/2008 16:29

Hi again!
Been thinking about something that yellow wrote earlier about not being able to have a bath while TTC. Why is that? I've been having baths, should i not be?

nelix2000 · 25/09/2008 15:53

hey everyone, sorry you are outyellow....but technically you are back in!

Thanks heeby I can't beleive its gotten so big but I am delighted!!!what with all you wonderful ladies, fun anicdotes and sharing of sad moments.....I feel really glad to be part of it!

OP posts:
BeckyMcG · 25/09/2008 15:21

I know men are rubbish at talking about these things and sometimes I feel frustrated. But sometimes I feel kinda grateful as I think it might be worse if there was two of us obsessing together - even mmore pressure!!!.............hmm, who know. We women all relate though - totally!

WanabeMum · 25/09/2008 13:51

Ooh heeby that's weird. Ever had that around ovulation before? how strange.
To be honest I have no idea how sparky is feeling but she seems to be punishing herself and i know if i had a MC i'd be a nightmare on my next pregnancy because i'd be so worried. Just trying to understand and put myself in her shoes.

smiley sorry to hear about your cyst but at least the outcome sounds quite positive for you. Fingers crossed!

I'm starting to obsess again..... HELP!!! I'm CD16 and no sign of ovulation yet according to my fertility monitor so starting to wonder if it's actually going to happen at all (stupid i know as i could ovulate tomorrow) but i can't help it. I'm worrying about something that is out of my control but i know that if i don't ovulate this month im going to be a neurotic maniac who starts to convince herself that she is infertile !!!!!!!
Sorry about the rant but i have nowhere else to turn. Tried speaking to DH about it and he said "try not to worry about it" which was a big help
Will just have to see what the next few days brings.
