Hey Linwin,

Bless you, what an awful time for you!! . Just a thought, but if you go in tomorrow, try and put your CV onto a disc or Memory Stick and take it home with you.

I'm a qualified Grad Assessor and know how scared the Grads are when something like this happens, so I can understand how you would be worried for them aswell. What on earth is going on in the world at the moment, it seems such a bad time all around!!

We are waiting to find out how much impact the big takeover is going to have. The Analysts from both companies were meeting today and we're expecting announcements tomorrow about the number of job cuts they're making. It's such a scary time, especially for those people that are not billable to clients and are in overhead roles like Finance, HR, Quality etc because the Company that's bought us will have all those sorts of roles themselves. It's really hard...

So, probably seems odd talking about my house now. But the initial offer was rejected because they are buying a repo and their offer was rejected. So we've both increased by £5k which makes our offer £189k. The Estate Agents think they'll accept that so fingers crossed. But they want to move in 28 days!! We need to give 2 months notice and in 3 pay-days I can save another £3k so it would benefit us to wait until about 21st November. I don't think that's unreasonable because there's a lot to do!!

Anyway, back to babies, trying to persuade DH into BDing tonight as had loads of EWCM today. Quite bizarre as only on CD13 and normally on 35 day cycles. But it feels like the MC may have kicked in the 28 day cycles I used to have pre-pill. That would be great!!

Linwin, I'll be thinking of you tomorrow sweetheart. Keep your chin up. You know where we are the minute you need us.... ....

summerbird · 15/09/2008 19:39

dawn good luck with the house, have you heard anything on the offer yet? i was looking at it again today and it is lovely, i can just see little dawns running round in that garden! and as for the girls bedroom, that must have made you even more gooey! i want to be a little girl again!

summerbird · 15/09/2008 19:38

linwin i am so sorry you are down, i agree with BSL that we are all here for you, this isnt just a TTC thread, we have all supported eachother in times of crisis! so i am sending some warm summerbird virtual hugs over your way. sleep on it tonight but i would recommend taking dawn and BSL up on their offer of helping with your CV, as if you are very experienced then other banks would be sure to snap you up.

just a geeky IT idea but why dont you log onto your hotmail/google or whatever at work and attach your CV to an email and literally send it back to yourself, it will be saved to your sent items and incoming, sorry if i sound a bit basic but sometimes in panic we dont know what to do for the best!

bluestarlavender · 15/09/2008 19:17

Linwin - we're all here for eachother! I feel a little bit touched that you want to talk to us, actually!

I think Bank of America is pretty safe...they are quite risk adverse and it sounds like they didn't get involved in the mortgage situation. Anyhow the offer is there if you want it...I know you're reeling right now.

BSL thanks so much, you girls are such a support.

Weve been told to come in tomorrow but basically we probably wont even get paid this month so its all really surreal. I just worry that getting a job for another bank right now is the right thing to do!

My poor graduate trainees are having to go back to their home countries.

Anyway, enough depressing sh*t - who is symptom spotting so far this cycle? The only thing to cheer us up is some BFP's!!

p.s. thanks dawn i had emailed my cv home but they blocked all email communication

xxxxx to everyone else, i hope i havent depressed you too much

bluestarlavender · 15/09/2008 18:41

Oh Linwin - being from the Pharma sector, I didn't really twig til now! I'm so sorry. My sis was around this afternoon and her DH works in banking too and she was saying his workload has massively increased due to everything that's happening. What is your situation?? I don't really know how this will affect you all...

I don't know what you do or where you're based, but I'm happy to pass CVs on to my BIL (Bank of America) and also friends at Goldman Sachs, if that will help....

Oh girls i'm so sorry to being you down but I think today I've cried so much that I feel numb right now.

So youve all seen the news and know what company I used to work for, and yes it was a bank. I just feel sorry for all the grads and people with families who are left with nothing.

Thanks so much to all of you for your support. It means a lot

bluestarlavender · 15/09/2008 17:54

Hi Dawn,

How's things with the house buying today?? Any exciting news?

I'm happy to have a look at your FF chart, but you will have to set up a home page and then post that link here.

I noticed you were asking some question on another board...temp rises the day after OV. I've noticed I get a massive temp dip on the day I OV.

Here's my chart if it helps...? I was a bit rubbish with all the data this month, and haven't filled in the CM bit.

Hi All,

Linwin, I'm so sorry that you're going through this. I don't know whether it will help, but I'm a bit of a dab hand at CVs (even if I do say so myself - ha ha) and if you want me to have a look at yours, I will do. I'm sure you've got it sorted but just thought I'd offer. I do all the CVs for family and friends and so far they've always got at least an interview using them. Having been looking at CVs for the last 12 years in my job, might have something to do with it... . Really hoping that things sort themselves out for you.

So, after the shock of my boss and colleague being laid off last week, came in this morning to find that the guy that had laid them off, was laid off himself on Friday!! What an awful week!!

However, have been told this morning that in our team, they've made all the cuts that they're planning on making. Phew!!

So, put in an offer on our first house on Saturday! Already had to up it by £5k so just waiting to hear whether it's been accepted. Only thing is that the house that they Vendors are buying, is a repossession so they might want to move in 28 days!!! OMG!!

Fingers crossed it all happens now...

xxx

PS: Started BDing last night although part of me wonders whether we should put it on hold until we're settled, but like Wildfig, I'm 34 too and feel that I can't just wait!!

summerbird · 15/09/2008 12:57

mmm eddies poached eggs on toast for me, mega breakfast for DH! So jealous you had sunshine! x

bluestarlavender · 15/09/2008 11:57

Summerbird - We had glorious weather!! I have decided that the autumn is way better than the summer. None of us were prepared for the sun either, we had to make a quick trip to Tesco for sunblock! We had a BBQ in the dunes on Saturday night and then it was the Kings Head for sunday lunch - I had lamb balti with half and half!! (And of course Eddies for breakfast both days!!)

god yes this recession is so being dressed up as a credit crunch, i am so for all the girls on this thread going through it, my sister works for Northern Rock (you may remember me saying earlier on), and we were so worried for her, thankfully she has been ok, but it was worrying for her.

we are lucky in that my DH works for the NHS and my job is crap but secure at the moment, however we arent losing sight of it all and have made major cutbacks, we used to eat out a lot but just dont do it now and cook from fresh rather than buying expensive pre prepared stuff, also cutting back on holidays and instead are going camping next year etc etc. basically living like students, which can be rather fun actually!!

BSL i hope you had better weather than us, was the surfing good then? and how about the pub food, i loved the steak and kidney pie.....mmmmmm!

saz007 · 15/09/2008 10:15

Linwin sorry I forgot to say before and that I hope you're ok? It's every time the news comes on, something else happens. I heard about Lehmans (sp?) on the news last night.
I'd agree that this looks like a recession

Wildfig fingers crossed your payment comes thru

wildfig · 15/09/2008 09:59

Linwin Really sorry to hear that - how grim for you. Are you a banker?! It's all so depressing. The first thing I heard when I woke up this morning was some financial expert on the news saying the Lehman's collapse was '... like nothing since the Wall Street Crash...' and I just wanted to roll over and put my head under the pillow again. I get paid in dollars for some of my freelance work, and I'm just hoping they put my payment through last week! It's definitely a recession. I can remember things being exactly like this in the weeks before Margaret Thatcher's overthrow AND before the New Labour landslide, so hey, if we hang on, house prices might be set for a major peak in 2012!

I totally sympathise about timing. I keep thinking, maybe this is the worst possible moment to be doubling our expenses too, but I'm 34, and I don't honestly feel I've got much choice other than to try now if we want to have a family. TTC is bad enough without having Gordon Brown and the FTSE 100 acting as a sort of Family Planning Officer. I guess you just manage somehow and hope that things will recover over the next couple of years - and do a lot of staying in and reading to save petrol...

bluestarlavender · 15/09/2008 09:32

Morning All,

Linwin - I am so sorry you're having a hard time at the moment! It's not a nice time for any of us I know we're all calling it a 'credit crunch', but in my opinion that's just government spin for 'recession'. Sorry to any Labour supporters out there, but I just think the government doesn't want us blaming them for what's going on at the moment.

Anyhow, I've updated my stats.

Morning girls,

Its so odd that 4 of us (inc *Crunchy's DH) work for the same company, small world indeed!! Esp as so many of my RL friends havent even heard of our company.

Went out for dinner with PIL on Saturday and turned down wine saying that I'd given up alcohol as we were TTC (I think MIL had kind of assumed that anyway) and that I didnt want to drink anything. We don't want to tell anyone (apart from you guys) til 12 weeks - which is actually the week before we go away

I used my free MN test this morning, it says I'm 3+ weeks, I thought it would say 2-3 weeks. It came up really quickly. It's quite good, but it is BIG, and tbh I'm not sure if it's just a novelty or not, but I was really excited!!

I'm not entirely sure how to work the dates out - do you take it from CD1 of the last AF? And does it equate to weeks+days? Totally confused here, so help would be appreciated please According to a due date calculator I found on the net yesterday, my EDD is May 20 so I've updated the list with that:

Hi lovelies,

Just back from my weekend with the in-laws, had a lovely time by the way, and as usual I've missed loads!

Congratulations Saz - fantastic news!

MAF so sorry about the BFN. Am sure the exact same thing happened to me last month as had the heaviest period ever and really painful and was sure it was a CP. My heart goes out to you.

Dawn the house looks really lovely

So girls, I need all of your wonderful advice. Looks like the company I work for is about to file for bankruptcy tonight. Really, really scared about the future and really sad that am probably going to have to put TTC on hold for a while Not sure what else we can do as enough to worry about paying the mortgage without worrying about looking after a child. Plus even if I get a job right away I'd have to work up a bit of maternity leave.

Oh girls I am so sad, not just for myself but all my other work colleagues, many of whom are supporting their whole families.

Anyway, don't want to bring you all down with me - hope you all had a lovely weekend.

xxxxxxxxxxx

bluestarlavender · 14/09/2008 21:15

Back from a weekend away! Summerbird - stayed at Hillend for a surfing weekend! So absolutely no reception and I've missed loads!!

Saz - Congratulations!!! I love happy BFP news!! I've been waiting on another one!

Dawn - love the house!! It's huge! Oh and your FF chart, you need to create a home page and post the link for that. I can't see your chart at the moment.

I have loads more news and people to catch up with, but will have to sign off as about to have some food.

Love to all!!

I was about to move everyone on 6 days, like in Snakes and Ladders, then realised that I don't know how long everyone's cycles are, and might have ended up with some weird figures. Is so complicated. Anyway, have updated myself: am now on CD19 so the pointless 'are my breasts tender, or sore, or in fact totally normal??' has begun for another month.
