Thanks Crunchy!
How you doing?

Doctor went fine. Asked me some basic family medical history questions. The part that surprised me was that I had to make a decision there and then on which hospital I wanted to give birth in!?! I'm only 4+3!!!
Goodness me. I made a decision based on some research I had done in advance, but I was still amazed that i didn't have more time to think.

Now I have to go back to surgery mid week to collect a form which will allow me to book at 12 week scan. So that's it seemingly...I don't need to see anyone til then...

flirty I hope all went well at the doctors. Enjoy your night tonight with your DH. You are mommy and daddy now! Xx

FlirtyThirty · 18/08/2008 17:48

Thanks Saz!
It doesn't feel real AT ALL! I feel exactly the same - no symtoms or anything. I gues if I felt different physically it would be easier to believe it was true....

Dh and I didn't talk about it much last night - we were too shell-shocked and it was very late when I told him. Tonight when he's home from work will be the first proper time we'll have had together since I broke the news. Poor man is in shock...we both expected it to take so much longer. Also, I haven't been going on about TTC to him, so it will have been doubley shocking than for me...

We are both delighted just need to get over the initial 'OMG!' phase!

Have bought a PG book and been to Drs today so that may help him believe it's actually happening...

Hope everyone else is well

Thank you so so much for your lovely messages! Sorry I couldn't post more yesterday -lots going on - but had to log on quickly to let you girls know!

So...my story...

As you know, I was totally convinced that I had missed the boat this month. DH and I had been really busy and had only BD twice in the cycle (CD8 & CD10). I had susopected that I OVd around CD11 so had planned this and practically leapt on DH on CD10! (Very glad I did now!) Anyway, I had negative OPK results throughout this time and my temp was going up and down so I was beginning to think I probably didn't OV at all this cycle. Fertility Friend thought I OVd on CD16 and then cancelled that. This cannopt have been true as I didn't have s*x after CD10! (Immaculate conception?!)

Anyway, AF was due on 15 Aug...but didn't come. I felt sure she was on her way though as I had this sort of heavy, dragging 'down below'. Not cramps, just a sort of pre-AF feeling. No tiredness, nausea, funny tastes, smells or anything else. I feel exactly the same. Anyway, yesterday, I went to the loo, and wasn't really thinking anything about AF being late, except a passing thought that it would be just typical if my regular cycles started to mess up now we were TTC. Anyway, I had a free First Response test in my OPK kit andI just thought, what the hell, let's test. I did not for ONE SECOND think I was PG. So , I peed on the stick, and before i even had the lid back on, there were 2 bloody dark pink lines! I had to sit down on the toilet. I was in TOTAL DISBELIEF. I still am. I had to leave it a few hours to tell DH as I couldn't get my head around it at all. I know so many people who can't have children and had have worried for years about this. I had all these elaborate plans of how I'd tell DH, but in the event, when I went to say it, no fancy gimmick seemed right. I just started to laugh and he said what's wrong, and I said 'I'm pregnant'. He was in total shock too! We both are. I am surprised at my own reaction. I am obviously elated (though I know it's VERY early days - 4 weeks I think) but I am still in shock. I am going to the GP this morning to tell them as I'm about to leave on a 3 week business trip. DH and I are not going to tell anyone until after the 12 week scan (if we get ae lucky to get there). I am so unbelievabley gobsmacked...it has not sunk in at all yet. It is almost like I am completely numb! I just never thought I would be one of the lucky ones...and I am so unbelievably grateful!

I am sending bucket loads of baby dust your way ladies and hope I can keep my little passenger safe in the days and weeks ahead.

Lots of Love,
Flirty x

Morning ladies,

Hope you all had good weekends

Well AF only paid a flying visit this month and was gone by Friday afternoon I found this odd as she usually sticks around for 4 days not just 2 and a half. The BD fest commenced on Saturday

I had one glass of wine on Saturday night, it doesnt hurt while TTC right? But just to be on the safe side I'm sticking to one glass, once a week.

Good luck for Friday BSL

bluestarlavender · 17/08/2008 21:36

Hi everyone,

Bubbap - Ooh we're very close together...I suspect I'm due on on Saturday. Gonna test Friday though, cos I'm flying overnight on Friday and suspect my body clock is gonna be screwed. Good luck!! We can hand hold over the next week!!

Big waves to everyone!

Is it also your birthday today? If so, a very happy birthday too!

vix - I've had wine a couple of times this week too and I could be PG... just trying not to go OTT with drinking... think that's practical if 2 weeks out of every 4 we're all on PG watch!

Hi Everyone,

Ive had quite a busy weekend , been to visit my aunty in Leeds on Friday night went for a meal and had a bit too much wine, so feeling bit guilty!! Went out with our friends last night and again had a couple of drinks but ended up leaving earlier than usual cos feel bad just incase i am pg. But then i cant put my life on hold can I?? What do you all think about drinking when you're on your 2WW??

Hope you have all had a great weekend!! Im just sat in my pyjamas now watching RSPCA on the fronline on TV!! And feeling VERY emotional (blush) I would love to be a RSPCA officer but think I would get too angry and upset when i see the poorly animals!!

xx

bubbap · 17/08/2008 09:14

Hi girls

What have you all been up to this weekend? We've had a pretty quiet one, met one of DH's friends for lunch yesterday and am thinking of going to M&S for a bit of clothes shopping later.

BSL - when is your AF due? I'm on the dreaded 2WW, AF due next weekend.

bluestarlavender · 16/08/2008 19:45

Hi everyone,

I hope you're all having a lovely weekend! I'm up in Rutland Water at the Bird Fair today and tomorrow. We met up with some friends today and tonight are staying nearby by ourselves in a lovely little boutique hotel!

Hever - I haven't seen Flirty since Wednesday, she popped onto the Bonkers thread, I think she was running around and busy...I hope she's okay!

I was really shocked about the puppy farm! How can anyone treat a living creature in such a way, let alone an animal that provides a living for them! It seems crazy! I'm terrible with 'broken' animals! I seem to attract lots of waifs and strays. Obviously we adopted my sister and her DH's cat, as he was having behavioural problems. And we also have two broken snakes (so far), I have a lovely corn snake named Stumpy, who has lost the end of his tail and DH has a hognose snake (Cranky - grumpy as hell!) that has broken some ribs at some point and therefore has a hole in his side. Our friend works at a wildlife hospital and she asked we would take them as they would be difficult to re-home and knew we wanted some snakes. She is always trying to give us more animals and I always want to take them. My DH is the voice of reason, otherwise we'd have a house full of animals!

Anyhow, the 2WW is slowly ticking by. The past few days I've had some odd mouth symptoms, like bleeding gums and a strange metallic taste that has got really strong today. It tastes like I've been sucking tin foil! Yuck! But who know when it's a PG symptom or not.

I have started Reading that jools oliver book that many of You recommended. It is making me even more broody and I didn't think thatnwas possible! Got slightly jealous of my friend just who is planning her second baby lol that's just greedy she should at least make sure I get at least one first LOL xx

heverhoney1 · 16/08/2008 08:14

p.s has anyone seen flirty???

heverhoney1 · 16/08/2008 08:06

That sounds awful I would want to do some serious personal damage to the breeder!!!

DawnAS · 15/08/2008 16:31

My test arrived too!! Yippeee!!

OMG - that sounds awful fairywing, your poor doggy!! I donate to the RSPCA monthly but wish I could do something more productive. But the closest one to us is quite a trek away. I used to volunteer on Sunday mornings when I lived in Milton Keynes. They just had cats but I used to go in, clean out the pens, do their food and if I had time, play with them a bit. Some of their stories are so sad. But the ones that really got to me were the older cats who had had a wonderful life and then their elderly owners had died!! Soooo awful. How on earth would they adjust? So sad.... The cats just looked so lonely after having love and care and affection all their lives, to suddenly be in a small pen, on their own, missing their families... I'm welling up just thinking about it!!

So, let's think about nice things!!

My sister and BIL are having a 1st Anniversary party as they've had their pub/restaurant for a year this weekend. It's going to be an 80s theme. 3 of my sisters (one of which is the one that owns the pub) are singers, so they will be performing and they've got a couple of bands going aswell and they're having a barbecue. Luckily they've hired a marquee as the weather's going to be rubbish! Should be great fun though. It's fancy dress but DH and I didn't want to dress up, so, instead, we went on line and ordered loads of '80s sweets!! Do you remember the white chocolate fish and chips?! Anglo Bubbly Bubble Gum? Aniseed balls? We ordered loads!!

wildfig · 15/08/2008 16:11

Oh no! and Poor little thing! Puppy farms make me so angry.

fairywing · 15/08/2008 15:16

wildfig we were looking for an adult springer as we had no time for a puppy then so we phoned round some breeders to see if they had any older dogs available. We found one that did, when we got there we realised it was a puppy farm. They brought her out and she had bald patches, showed no interest in people and when we finally got her to come to us she was crawling with lice. She had no vaccinations and had never even been on a walk. We couldn't leave her there. When we got her home she was terrified of everything, still hates small spaces, won't go in a kennel and we had to teach her how to play. She is a wonderful happy dog now but i am really sad she didn't have the start in life she deserved

saz007 · 15/08/2008 14:55

ooooh will be keeping an eye out for the mail then!!
