summerbird · 03/09/2008 13:16

thanks dawn i love that joke!!

fairywing dont worry hun i nearly did the same last month, it is so tempting when that is all you can think about.

vix sorry you are feeling blue, but as BSL said we should all take inspiration from flirty

i have made a momentous decision today, i am going to apply for a new job which i have seen, even though i would miss out on Mat Pay (if it happens in the first year) but i figure that it is only 6 months without pay and my DH is vying for promotion at the mo so we should be able to manage it. i hate my current job so it has perked me up no end!!

DawnAS · 03/09/2008 12:17

Girls, my boss just sent me this joke - enjoy!!

"In the hospital the relatives gathered in the waiting room, where their family member lay gravely ill.
Finally, the doctor came in looking tired and somber.
'I'm afraid I'm the bearer of bad news,' he said as he surveyed the worried faces.
'The only hope left for your loved one at this time is a brain transplant.
It's an experimental procedure, very risky but it is the only hope.
Insurance will cover the procedure, but you will have to pay for the brain yourselves.'
The family members sat silent as they absorbed the news. After a great length of time, someone asked, 'Well, how much does a brain cost?'
The doctor quickly responded, '$5,000 for a male brain, and $200 for a female brain.'
The moment turned awkward. Men in the room tried not to smile, avoiding eye contact with the women, but some actually smirked.
A man unable to control his curiosity, blurted out the question everyone wanted to ask,
'Why is the male brain so much more?'
The doctor smiled at the childish innocence and explained to the entire group, 'It's just standard pricing procedure. We have to mark down the price of the female brains, because they've actually been used.'"

I'll go with that BSL 'cos I'm a June baby too!! Although I hope the little one won't share my birthday because it ALWAYS rains on my birthday!!

Starting to feel a little better now although cramps are really painful, but not too much blood....

Really hungry, didn't realise the time - off to get some lunch now!!

Hi girls,

Well, really peed off today... AF got me finally (bitch!!).

A bit peed off because all the signs were there and this AF is very odd, I hate to see it but bleeding and cramping pattern is very similar to that of an early MC as opposed to AF. ALWAYS get 2-3 days of brown CM before AF and cramps for 1 day on heaviest day of red blood. But last night, excruciating cramps for about 3 hours through the night (as bad as MC pains) but no blood and then bright red blood this morning, no warning at all. Boobs are still really sore aswell - NEVER get that, even during AF. In fact the first PG was the only time in my life that my boobs have EVER been sore (apart from when I had the boobjob of course but that's to be expected I guess ).

Anyway, bollocks to it (excuse the language). I'm waiting for my thermometer to arrive and when it does, onwards and upwards!!

Hi everyone,

fairywing sorry about your BFN - it could be too early though.

Girls, I am being totally paranoid I'm sure - but think something is a bit amiss down there. This month I was totally sure I was PG and then AF arrived last Wednesday - 3 days late. It was so painful and heavy and is still here even though usually only lasts a few days. Now I have loads of stomach cramps low down on one side. I'm sure I'm overanalysing and maybe noticing things I normally wouldnt have done before TTC but its freaking me out a bit.

I guess I will see if pains get any worse before going to the doctor. Arghhh - turning into a hypocondriac now!

bluestarlavender · 02/09/2008 21:34

Hi guys,

Vix - Hun, don't be down!! I know this sounds dumb, but I think it will happen when the time is right! I'm gonna use Flirty as an example (I hope you don't mind, Flirty). She was so convinced it wasn't her month, that they hadn't BD'ed enough/at right time, etc etc. But then she got her BFP. It was just right. I guess I just want to say, don't panic cos DH isn't with you every night, because it still might be fine.

Fairywing - I'm sorry about the BFN. Although I'm gonna say never test early! I'm sure I haven't truly learned my lesson yet! Chin up til AF arrives, there's hope til then.

Aaw fairywing try not to be too hard on yourself!! I done exactly the same last month, but you just cant help it sometimes!!

MAF Woo hoo finally a peak!! Happy yoghurt potting!!

Dawn yeah i will defo be in the book club, it will help me think about something else instead of babies ha ha!!

I am feeling a bit down today and I don't know why. I am on my second month of clomid ( tablets to help me ovulate ) and im on day 8 , last month the opk showed i had ovulated around day 14. Unfortunately for the next few weeks my dp has to work away for a couple of nights. Really want him home every night next week to try and BD every night around ovulation!! I know he can't help it, as he doesn't get his new work van until next weekend so has to depend on others for lifts. And although i would like him to, he wont say to his colleauges " Would it be OK for you to drive home for 2 hours tonight as my lady is ovulating!! "

Anyway rant over, fingers crossed we will BD the right days and even bigger fingers crossed I will get a BFP this month!!

xx

fairywing · 02/09/2008 20:26

i did something stupid, i tested, no idea why, no symptoms and only cd26 and no idea when im even due. BFN of course and then felt stupidly disappointd. grrr i swore to myself i wouldnt get into this game

summerbird · 02/09/2008 19:44

go on MAF bring on the yoghurt pots!! good luck with that, are you used to doing it yet? it must be really weird (in a hilarious way!)

my DH is making home made brownies, i am keeping out of the way as he is a bit of a control freak in the kitchen

so when should i start using the preseed then? i have worked out i should prob OV at CD12 so i might start using it from CD9+ as i am not using any monitors or temping.

makingafamily · 02/09/2008 16:50

Afternoon Ladies

Welcome back BSL Glad you had a good time and you sound nice and chilled

Dawn i think your amazing in the way you take everything in your stride. I've got everything crossed for you

TTC update! Well finally on CD21 i've had a PEAK on the fertility monitor Just got in and done a cheapy OPK and negative so thought i'd push the boat out and do a CB one and that came in as positive Now a bit skeptical about the cheapy ones!!

So the boys are coming round tonight from stir fry and insems As they are off to Gran Canaria on staurday. Might have to get them round tomorow aswell

Baby Dust and Yoghurt Pots for all

Welcome back BSL glad you enjoyed your holidays!

Summerbird good on you!!
I know what you mean about becoming obsessed with TTC, I felt like it was happening to me last month (altho it was only cycle 1 so I think I was being slightly optimistic and premature!). I felt really really disappointed when I got my BFN too, I think that's what made me realise I had to calm myself down. I'm trying my best not to this month....but I do still have the CDs and BD dates down in my diary - oops!

I missed out on last month's book, but I'm up for this one Dawn. Are we sticking with the Richard and Judy suggestions?

DawnAS · 02/09/2008 12:00

Jolly good effort Summerbird, very proud of you!!

BSL, we missed you - although I don't know why I'm saying that (other than I did miss you obviously!), but I haven't really been on here for the last couple of weeks either.

Vix, sorry, forgot to answer your question about the Bookclub. Basically a few of us on here love reading and so decided to start an online book-club as there's a section for them here on Mumsnet. We all agreed to go and buy the same book and then post our views on it. We did "Private Lives of Pippa Lee" last month and it's time we thought of a new one!! Come and join in if you're interested!!

Any suggestions anyone and then we'll jump back to the other thread to discuss?!

summerbird · 02/09/2008 11:53

welcome back BSL glad you had a fab holiday, i know what you mean about time whizzing by, it is good that you had a distraction away from TTC, i feel that i am getting a bit obsessed with it now and need to calm down, i am turning into the TTCer i didnt want to be (CD's and DPO's in my diary).

it is funny but after what i said last night (about not being bothered about BD), we snuggled up in bed and i suddenly felt up for it, my DH couldnt believe his luck, so on the first day after AF finishes, the summerbirds are right at it!!

start as we mean to go on!!!

bluestarlavender · 02/09/2008 10:46

Hi Everyone,

I'm back! A big hello to all the newcomers to the thread!

Congratulations to BubbaP! Great news and have a good holiday!

There's been too much for me to catch up on, but Dawn - sounds positive for you and I'm definitely up for another book!

On CD11 today, can't quite believe it's that already...DH and I were completely chilled on our holiday. It was nice to get away from TTC to be honest. Singapore was actually very easy from the lack of visible PG women. Here in the UK I see bumps and newborns everywhere, but not at all in Singapore. I actually wondered where they all go, or whther they are all so tiny that the bump doesn't show til later. Anyhow, I also had my little 11 month niece to play with for a week! She's such a little cutie. Of course I got the family questioning when DH and I were going to have one, which is very annoying and a bit upsetting, but there you go.

More soon,

BSL x

Hey guys dont get too excited - i am only on CD4, i was just getting bubbaps vibes as she tested a week after AF. I wouldnt dare test as DH would go mad, and i also really want to do it when i am late. My cycles are never longer than 28 days, on average i am usually 26 days. The last two months i got her exactly 14DPO and i am OVing a little early,

Dawn i really do applaud your strength, i think you are right to wait another month as this could be one of two things, either your body is settling down after July or (fingers crossed) it could be another sign. stick with it hun, you will be fine

My AF finished today and DH is ready and raring for BDing but i really cant be bothered tonight to be fair he knows i am usually not up for it on the first day as am usually knackered and a bit 'dried out' (sorry TMI - but does anyone else ever feel like that?)

Praps i shall just give him a beer and let him watch Match of the Day from last night??!!

I might join your book club this time round, i am three quarters of the way through 'East of the Sun' by Julia Gregson, i would recommend it actually as it is not the Chick Lit i thought it would be, it is really quite gritty in parts and rather addictive!

Nighty night everyone x

Vix67 · 01/09/2008 21:18

Bubbap that's great news!! Aaw u will hav a lovely relaxing holiday and what brilliant news to send you off with!!

Dawn how does the book club work??

Summer how long is your cycle usually??

to everyone xx

DawnAS · 01/09/2008 19:51

Hello all,

Bubbap, that is great news. Make sure you do loads of relaxing on holiday!! You'll have a lovely time!!

Summer, don't test yet - just give it a little while longer.

So anyway, there was me thinking AF had arrived and the brown CM stopped last night, so just a couple of spots yesterday.
Now turned to yellow like it was with the first PG. Also boobs are really sore and IBS has got quite bad again (apparently if you suffer with IBS that can be made worse as the hormones get going, only initially though). Weeing a lot more frequently aswell. So, trying not to get my hopes up too much and certainly not intending to test for a looooooong time. If AF hasn't arrived by the time my friend gets back from holiday (beginning of October ) I will test then. Because then at least I'll know that I would be far past the time when I had the MC last time.

I'm sure that sounds completely mad to you guys, but I don't want to tempt fate. Which is why I'm still trying to write these symptoms off as merely the start of a horrid AF!! Plus I don't really drink, I don't smoke, I cut out caffeine when I last got PG, I eat healthily and I take folic acid, so even if I don't know one way or the other, I won't be doing "anything" (don't even want to say the word... ) any harm.

I'm hoping that being busy at work and looking for a house will keep my mind off of it all aswell!!

Besides, I'll probably be eating all my words again in a few days when AF arrives and the brown CM will just have been the weight of the mammoth AF (after MC) that caused some stuff to shift!

So, book-club ladies, doesn't seem to be much movement on the other thread. Are we up for reading another book? I started a mammoth one yesterday that my Doggy and Kitty bought me for my birthday in June (DH insists that they chose it!!), it's massive and I don't know how I'll get through it. Can't even remember what it's called - oops!!

Hope everyone is Ok today.

Babydust for all of us!!

Linwin · 01/09/2008 18:37

Heh BuppaP - sorry am a bit slow with my congratulations, you must be over the moon - so pleased for you! xxxx

saz007 · 01/09/2008 15:50

Hurray Bubba!! Enjoy your holidays!!

Summer step away from the test, you dont want to do that

I'm in a really good mood too! I think its the sunshine making a rare appearance Or it could be the fact that I'm leaving at 4 today - whoo and indeed hoo!!

summerbird · 01/09/2008 15:41

awwwww bubba thats fantastic news, i am soooooo happy for you, i feel quite emotional have a fantastic holiday and take care of that little welsh bean!! and make sure you stay with us on this thread as we are all graduating together!! in fact i am having to stop myself testing after your story!

i am in a really good mood today, even the crap office isnt getting me down.

BubbaP · 01/09/2008 13:44

Hi girls

Thanks for all your lovely messages

Well I've been to the doc this morning and everything appears to be fine. He didn't even react when I told him that I'd had a normal AF since conceiving - it can't be that uncommon!

I've been given an EDD of 1st May!

He prescribed me folic acid tablets, and has given me the OK to fly which was a big relief as we're due to go on hols tomorrow. The midwife will be in touch soon about my first appointment.

So.... my DH and I and our little Welsh bean (!) are off to Crete tomorrow for a week. It's very early days yet so we're keeping everything crossed that the bean sticks.

And here's hoping for some more BFPs on here in September! Here's some baby dust for everyone:

Morning all,

Congrats to BubbaP Wow such good news! Fingers crossed for the docs today lady

Bonifacio sooooo of your holiday! I've had the brochures out over the weekend and Oman and Muscat were in there. I always start planning my next trip when I'm on the plane home

Typical isnt it, according to the TV summer is over and autumn starts today and it's the sunniest its been this year outside my window! Why can't I be a lady who lunches???

Gutted for all the AFs but I'm liking the PMA that this thread has. That's got to be worth something I think anyway

Well I'm on CD20 today and have had crampy feelings this morning. Far too early for AF methinks.

summerbird · 01/09/2008 09:01

LOL dont worry bonifacio my mum has the same knack of saying something in a completely different tone of voice, really winds me up too!! The older i get i do try to understand her but it is hard. Glad you had a good holiday, havent been to Oman before.

Yep it is definitely back to school today, it is September so summerbird gets out her thick tights!!
