Morning Playing

Thanks for asking, Im well . How are you? hows the MS?

Very exciting re 12wk scan. Will you tell people straight away or wait for the nuchal results? Im not sure how long they take to come back...

Agree re men and the early bonding thing. While my DH isnt ordering baby gear yet he was the same, saw the HB at 8wks and since then Im not allowed to mention that we are "still not out of the woods" or I apparently make him feel sh*te!!! - no idea what that is about but he refuses to believe anything could go wrong!

Quite like the attitude actually!

Playingthe9monthwait · 15/08/2008 11:26

Morning all,

I def agree than MN is a great place for support and advice. Whilst I haven't had to go through a mc (and hopefully won't) I really appreciate how openly its talked about on here. It does make me realise how common it is and although completely devestating people do go on to have healthy babies afterwards. Its def helped to keep me a bit more grounded in this pg, I know odds are things will be fine, but there is a chance they might not be, so just to take things a day/week at a time.

Got my 12 week scan on the 26th, that will be a real milestone and then maybe I can let myself get a bit more excited and start telling people (only immediate family and some very close friends know). DH thinks I'm nuts, he's totally besotted with the idea that I have a baby in my tummy. He keeps talking about the 3 of us and wants to buy the entire contents of the baby section of ebay/m&p/john lewis etc. He doesn't seem to understand why I can't let myself get as carried away as he is yet, as far as he is concerned as soon as he saw the bean on my scan at 8 weeks with a heatbeat that was the moment he actually bonded and has been in a whirlwind of excitment ever since! One of us needs to keep our feet grounded!

How is everybody this morning? Anyone got an exciting plans for this lovely sunny day?

NatalieJaneIsPregnantAgain · 15/08/2008 08:59

Diege, I don't know how many times I've thought to myself 'right that's it, stop worrying' it helps for a while but then something else happens (or doesn't happen) and you get all worked up again. I don't think there is anything you can do about it, I suppose it is just a natural process after suffering a loss. There are two ways of looking at it, personally for me, this pregnancy has been much more of a worrying time than with the boys, but it is also much more appreciated and throughout all the worrying and what if's, there is a lot of thanks, and with each passing week the thanks just gets bigger and bigger.

Ses I know what you mean about the DH/P's being 'left out' of peoples thoughts. When I MC'ed my sister rang to see how I was about a week later, and spoke to DH first, he said then, apart from me asking how he was in that week, she was the first person to have asked him how he was. Probably because she'd been there and watched her DH 'left out' of it all. As it was, he was more upset and worried for me, like I said he had no attachment to the pregnancy.

I think he has been as worried as me about things going wrong this time as I have, but in that true 'manly' style it is always portrayed as him being worried about me.

Anyway, I have a DS2 to contend with now, I guess all the screaming means he has finished his breakfast! See you all in a bit xxx

Hi 2BG - sorry, no help I'm afraid, only ever used CB digital. Would it be worth getting one of these to put your mind at rest? I must say the trial you're doing sounds very labour intensive, although the shopping vouchers would help!

SesQal · 15/08/2008 08:42

Morning 2BG! Sorry for EW. I'm not sure about the lines on CB. Good to have something positive to do with the tests though!

NJ - My DH was lovely. When there was no hb at 12 week scan, he just immediately told me he loved me and that we would have a baby at some point and that it wasn't anyone's fault. He then also apologised for not being as upset as me as he just was dealing with it differently. He spoke to his sister who had had a mc and she told him it was good for me to cry and so after a week as I wasn't crying sooo much, he started pinching me! When I asked why, he said it was because I had to cry! Bless him - he does have a warped sense of humour! You're right though - he didn't fully understand why I was so frustrated with my body and what I was experiencing when I was still getting MS and other pg symptoms before I had the op. They just don't experience it the same! Having said that he did say after a couple of weeks that he didn't like the fact that everyone kept asking him how I was when he was going through the upset as well. I felt really sorry for him then.

Sorry that ended up being an epic paragraph when I didn't mean it to be and I'm meant to have left for work!

Diege · 15/08/2008 08:40

Agree that the support on mumsnet is second to none. I got (and still get!) a lot of comfort from everyone on this thread, and also from people I've never 'spoken' to before on the miscarriage threads. You're right Nat about getting the balance between info and scaring yourself silly. I am a real worrier, and because my research work is in the area of risk and pregnancy I'm just drawn to reading the scary stuff. Have decided this morning that enough is enough re: worry (my current one regards incompetent cervix in next pregnancy as I've had previous surgery for pre-cancerous cervical cells - was scanned for this throughout pregnancy with dd3 and was fine) but worried the D&C might effect this further? Think my plan is to have a good chat with Consultant (assume I'll be 'high risk' next time??) and take it from there. For heaven's sake I'm not even actively ttc yet!

NatalieJaneIsPregnantAgain · 15/08/2008 08:34

Sorry 2BG I have never had it, but have heard of loads of people getting very thin and faint lines on the CB's, they have always been proved to be negative I'm afraid So sorry sweetie.

Morning everyone.

EW swooped in late last night
BUT i start the clearblue trial thingy first day of AF and i have to take urine sample on day one and test with the tests they sent and record result(to make sure i'm not pregnant) and its a clearblue i got a very thin second line on the cross, came up within 1 minute but very thin????? What does that mean anyone?
Also did my other tesco test and it was negative?
Do clearblue usually have thin lines anyway?

NatalieJaneIsPregnantAgain · 15/08/2008 08:26

That's it exactly Ses, the support on here through a MC is better than even DH could offer. Not through lack of trying, just because although it was his baby as well, firstly he wasn't that phased by it because we didn't actually know I was pregnant (I had a strong feeling I was though) secondly he didn't go through the physical effects of it, and thirdly men (or just my DH?) have the ability to separate the pregnancy from the baby IYKWIM? I don't think it has hit DH in any of my pregnancies that there will be a baby at the end of it, until the baby is there!

OP posts:
NatalieJaneIsPregnantAgain · 15/08/2008 08:22

I think it is always a toss up between wanting to understand, and learning too much IYKWIM? I think we always want the answers, especially someone like you who works in the area of questions and answers, there is an answer to everything if you search for it, MC's are one of those things that even if there was a reason for it to happen, chances are you'll never know, which while that can be frustrating, I think it could be a blessing is disguise, especially if you are going to try again.

Sorry about your friend, bloody hard isn't it?

OP posts:
SesQal · 15/08/2008 08:19

It's amazing how many people out there have been affected by mc, isn't it?
I really wanted to be able to do something to raise the profile of mc but then I found MN and have found the mutual support across many of the threads really worthwhile.

Diege · 15/08/2008 08:14

x-posts (again!) nat. Yes, yesterday was fine thanks, although stupidly stared reading a book on trying again after mc that I got off Amazon, and am now more anxious than ever about what can go rong. Arghhh!!! Is there any stage at which we don't have some worry of some shape or size in this pregnancy lark . Also ran into a friend who I've not spoken to for ages. She's had 3 mcs, and it was really good to hear her experiences - I had no idea what she's been through (2 healthy DCs now ).

NatalieJaneIsPregnantAgain · 15/08/2008 08:13

You have to keep it! Becauseeeeeee...... errrrr....... I told you to!!

Ooh great news about your housebuyers SES, that does sound positive! Hi Nat! LOL at softland - know exactly what you mean Had to peel a child off dd2 yesterday at our playbarn who seemed determined to give her a judo-style throw which she wasn't amused about, but hey I got my cuppa and they were happy.
I am having a lovely big bowl of organic porridge with a spoon of fruit spread and organic strawberries on top . I am also feeling a bit about keeping that bleedin' coat..

NatalieJaneIsPregnantAgain · 15/08/2008 08:08

Ooooh isn't it amazing how a bit of sun turns everyone so positive?

Diege, did you get through yesterday OK?

Ses that is great that they are so keen! Fingers crossed it will all go smoothly!

Morning NJ, Morning Diege

Great to wake up to some sun! Day at work for me but that's not too bad as am still enjoying my new job and have had some really good feed back from my boss about how I'm doing

Still on the positive front, the people with the offer on our house came round last night to measure up and "decide which boxes would have to go in which rooms!" Pleased they're sounding so keen

Ooooh! Lots of for me today!

Diege · 15/08/2008 07:57

Morning . Hope everyone is well. Lovely sunny day here (so far) so going to make the most of the weather and get out to the park. Have all 3 dds at home today, so probably won't be on too much!

NatalieJaneIsPregnantAgain · 15/08/2008 07:56

Good morning

2BG sorry about BFN, it by no means over yet though! And I hope you feel better today, migraine's are major PITA, I am 'overdue' one, and I am dreading it creeping up on me!

Ses, LOL at getting excited about testing on CD12, you are as bad as me!!

Tink 18 weeks? Your pregnancy seems to be going faster than mine! Everytime you post x number of weeks I think "you can't be I am only..... oh yeah..... you are" LOL

Anyone got any plans today? So far the sun is out Just hoping it stays that way! Might go into town if it does, if it doesn't I feel a trip to softland coming on Please stay sunny. Please stay sunny. Please stay sunny.

GYo · 14/08/2008 21:32

Hi Ses
Thanks

Re your friend and baby, no wonder that made you feel a bit . Must be hard to hear of it and not think of your own loss.

Hope you can talk to DH soon.

But looking fwd to GOFing sounds like good fun.

SesQal · 14/08/2008 21:30

Glaskham - have emailed you! Can always share them with 2BG (and anyone else??!)

SesQal · 14/08/2008 21:28

Hi GYo - hope you soon get past the low bit.

I had a bit of a moment today (in a different way!)as I found out that a colleague of mine had her baby today. She was exactly 10 weeks ahead of me (with my first pg/mc) so I kind of felt and all at once. DH is away with work tonight so haven't been able to talk to him.

Having said that I'm feeling a bit more positive about ttc this week. Just need some well timed GOFing and lots of luck!!!
