Hi all, is it okay if i post here? I'm just about to take my first Clomid tablet (cd2) and am really nervous. We have to self inseminate as dp has some problems which will make it difficult to do it in the traditional way - we can do it at home tho which makes life easier. I'm scared about the side affects - when should i ovulate? I'm taking the tablets on days 2-6. I'm lucking forward to doing something about ttc but so nervous too!

sarashy · 22/12/2008 19:18

hi bucky course you can join. the sucess stories seem to come in waves. Im on my second round of clomid, but unfortunatly have flu so the last thing i want to do right now is make babies. Plus been put on steroids for my asthma so not sure how they would affect a baby if i was to concieve.
Dh and i where trying for 2 yrs and have also had all the tests and told unexplained infertility like urself. frustrating isnt it.
I didnt have many side effects. the first month i had mild tummy ache and a few hot flushes but this month seem to have had nothing. Although i have been ill so not really be concentrating on it all.
Any questions im sure the girls on here will answer. think some of us are more knowledgable than the blooming specialists lol!
good luck
xx

Bucky2008 · 20/12/2008 17:18

Hi everyone. I wondered if I could join you. I just started my first cycle of Clomid after 2.5years ttc and 2 MCs. I appear to ov regularly so I guess the fertility clinic is just trying to strengthen ov? We have had all the tests and we are told that we have unexplained infertility...but given the 2MC as least I know I can concieve I guess.

Anyway, I know very little about Clomid other than what Google has told me. The Dr told me there would be no side effects and that multiple births were unusual. Already from Googling and reading this thread there seem to be lots of contradictions .

Have you had lots of success on your thread? Does it seem worth it? I am keeping my fingers crossed. We'll see I guess.

Babydust to you all. xx

pinkie08 · 17/12/2008 16:56

Havent seen them yet to discuss it as this is my last month on it.

I hope to see the specialist in January

lauralou1 · 17/12/2008 14:38

hi pinkie

goodlck with the next step of your fertility treatment will keep everything crossed for you

did they say why the clomid didnt work ?

pinkie08 · 16/12/2008 22:14

Hi all,

This is my last clomid month and then transferring to the fertility specialist.

We are really going for it but i do kinda think whats the point it wont work. but not to try is silly too and i couldnt face not ttc either.

Soooo tired from lack of sleep due to insomnia caused by daft pills. Will be nice next month to just catch up on some sleep before it starts again.

clairebear88 · 16/12/2008 13:42

Hi All

Hope all you girlies are doing ok
Hulababy - sorry to hear the clomid is making you so poorly and down. I am now off the tabs but remember that they made me feel premenstral most of the time.
I hope they sort you out with more tests to find out what the problem is.
My GP put me on clomid without all the tests first to find out what the problem was so I feel like I wasted 5 months on the bloody things. At least im now seeing a specialist and am having scans/bloods and xrays so hopefully will be an answer at the end of it all.

Georgie - you certainly sound like a special case so cant really advise but hope all works out. I didnt get monitored either so maybe it goes by area. Its definately a good idea to be monitored as you could waste 6 months and then you cant go on the tabs again for a certain amount of time.

Good luck all

Georgie2900 · 15/12/2008 13:56

No... i havent seen anything quite like my query but my gp says that its ok and the consultant is doing the right thing..

But we'll soon see wont we, its my last day on clomid today and i have booked a blood test for day 21 on the 30th so we'll see if i have ovulated again...at least then i can get over one herdle.....

In the new year i am gonna work hard at shifting a stone and maybe try not to let this baby making over ruke my mind cause its hurting more than anything...

lauralou1 · 14/12/2008 21:17

georgie

dont feel down its not your body thats the problem its the consultant i think they are rubbish and dont no what they are talking about

have you been online to see any more info on clomid ?

Hulababy · 14/12/2008 19:42

Am finding the side effects dreadful - the nausea and amnesia is bad enough, but the verging on depression is horrid. Have been off work for past 3 weeks or so as I am so fed up. And that is only with 50mg! I am on my last month now (day 4 of tablets on month 6). No longer execting anything to happen.

See my consultant again end of January. No idea on next step

Georgie2900 · 14/12/2008 19:39

Well thats the thing how do you know, i had a blood test on day 21 on my first month of taking clomid all was fine they said... next period if not pregnant start 50mg clomid again on day 2, but my period came on day 21 which was extremely early so they had to wait for me to go to day 28, just to make sure that the bleed on day 21 wasnt an errossion...once day 28 came and went on the wednesaday last week they asked me to double my dose and start clomid straight away pretending it was day 2.... so im on clomid now... they have asked me to have a blood test after my next period in January however i have a blood test form i think i may go on day 21 this month which is around 30 dec... If i am truely honest, i dont actually know if im coming or going and i do feel that alot of these methods are trial and error... technically im half way through clomid and i feel that in all fairness ive wasted 3 months on it cause they dont know what my body is doing...

I feel like tearing my hair out... seriously!!!!

lauralou1 · 14/12/2008 15:51

hi we did it straight after my last tablet

i am from liverpool ...

how do you no if you have ov or not have you had bllod tests and what was your ov number mine was 32.5 and i concieved on that .

sarashy · 14/12/2008 15:30

well af decided to make an appearence today and also embarrass me making me too hot n i fainted in church oh the shame!!
As if af wasnt bad enough.

x

Georgie2900 · 14/12/2008 14:22

Really.... im from bournemouth.... you??? well im still taking the 100mg now... so when is the best time to you know....boom shagala.... is 10-15 after the first pill... obviously im a bit different this month by not taking the clomid with my period....

Thanks lauralou1

lauralou1 · 13/12/2008 17:35

i wasnt ovulating and had to have scans to make sure my folicles were growing because if you havent got any folicles then you probably wont ovulate and there was no worry aboput multiple pg i was on 50 mg the first month then 100mg the month after which i ov on and got pg i had no side effects at all with the 100mg i had more with 50mg everybody i no has had scans to check the clomid is working and i have been on this thread since the beginning i have not come across anything like this before

were are you from ?

take care
baby dust to all

NewhereHelp · 12/12/2008 23:00

I'm on 100mg and I have virtually no side effects, mine was given by my GP and he told me to come back in 3 months or sooner if I was pregnant, no bloods or scans????

Georgie2900 · 12/12/2008 21:57

I also forgot to ask is anyone on 100mg??? do you have major side effects on this dosage?

Georgie2900 · 12/12/2008 21:55

I was advised by my specialist today that you are only offered scans every month if you are definitly ovulating, but mainly because you are worried about multiple pregnancies...

And they also said to me that if your first month on clomid shows you are ovulating you wont be required to do another bloodtest on day 21...

Have you all been told something different....

lauralou1 · 12/12/2008 12:49

hi valz h$ave you had a period if not i would do a pg test then start it when your period comes

i cant believe they are not monitoring you they should be giving you scans everymonth on the cd11 and blood tests cd21 and cd28 if you didnt ov on the 21 test and for her to say over stimulation does she not realise how dangerous over stimulation can be

i have never heard anything like this before with clomid and it is really stupid

it looks like they are just giving it out like sweets and saying go away

take care lauralou1

valz · 12/12/2008 09:41

Hi Ladies,

firstly congrats lauralou, great to hear ur bfp i phoned a specialist yeaterday to ask when i should start my next course, i gave her all the dates of my first course so she'd know what day im on etc and she told me then that i should have started my second course last saturday because usually its taken on cd 2 but i told her my period hadnt come and i dont know when id ovulate or if i did so i would i know when my period should have arrived. i more confused then ever. she told me ive missed this cycle and to start again on 4th january and take a pregnancy test next week im concerned now cuz i think they really should be monitoring me better. i told her about the cramps & she said thats common with clomid, sometimes its due to over stimulation but that was very unlikely on 50mg tablets. im so tempted to goahead with my second course on monday rather then wait another month what would yous do?. this should be cd33

sarashy · 12/12/2008 09:23

hey newherehelp, im on day behind u im on cd25 today. im not very patient either. but really think i cant be this month, not exactly taken things easy. I have been building and demolishing my kitchen lifting lots of heavy things about prop not best idea. but come monday i shall know.
had a prety good first month on it really other than few hot sweats and mild stomach ache in first two weeks ive been fine. Having all the symptoms of starting af now though.
fingers crossed for all
sx

NewhereHelp · 11/12/2008 11:28

Hi Lauralou (and congrats )

I am on CD 25 of a usual 28 day cycle, there are all sorts of things going on with my bod though and I don't know which are tablet related which are in my mind and which could mean I'm pg!

Patience isn't one of my strong points I'm afraid!

lauralou1 · 11/12/2008 10:52

hi newhere

clomid shouldnt affect your pg test it didnt affect mine and mine was just a tesco test i did my test on cd35 and it came up positive straight away i couldnt believe it and now am 19+2 weeks pg what cd date are you now

good luck love laura lou

NewhereHelp · 10/12/2008 22:21

Hi all, finding the chilling really hard! Can you tell me if clomid affects a pg test oe not - i.e will it give a false BFP?

Also, how early can you safely rely on these first response tests?

baby dust to all

And patience be with all of us on the dreaded 2ww!
