Hi Cam
I'm a bit confused when asked what cycle I'm on. I haven't had AF for 8 months, and wasn't induced. She jsut told me to start taking the pills whenever I was ready. So I took 50mg for 5 days Aug 28th-Sep1. And now I wait. I had crampy weird feelings last week and into the weekend, but they have subsided. So I don't think AF is due till the end of the week, but my body is so screwed up who knows whats going on down there LOL.
The hot flashes we so weird. It's hard to expalin. i just thought you would feel warm, but for me, it's like a heat from within, that radiates through me, very uncomfartable. Not lookign forward to the old change of life haha.

cam75 · 15/09/2008 16:11

hi wishinanhopin, at least we know what to expect when the dreaded menapause is due!!!
what cycle are you on? how have you been coping?

wishinanhopin · 15/09/2008 15:35

Hey cam75
I totally feel you on the hot flashes. I'm 28 and now I finally know what my mother and aunts are going through when they say how bad menopause hot flashes feel. And I had to laugh out loud right now when I read your post about feeling so tired. I have been so exhausted the last 2 weeks, and I've been complaining to anyone who will listen that I am just drained. I never made the clomid connection till I read your post.DUH!!! LOL

wishinanhopin · 15/09/2008 15:26

Hey ladies, just found the new thread.
I took my very first round of clomid Aug 28-Sept 1st. Then did all the baby making we could. Now we wait. I was really crampy last week, it felt like AF was on the way but it has subsided now, and I'm not sure whats going on. AF isn't due till end of this week.
I have a Dr's appt today, jsut for a prescription refill. I wonder if she could tell at this early stage??
Lots of babydust to all the lovely ladies out there.

cam75 · 15/09/2008 15:21

Heebeejeebee · 15/09/2008 14:29

Hi all, do you mind if I join you?

I was ttc for a year before I got referred to the hospital who told me to have an hsg. Before I could I got my bfp (last Dec). Sadly I had a mmc in January and have been ttc since then. I'm convinced my short luteal phase is causing the problem (I ov on day 16/17 in a 26 day max cycle) but the consultant doesn't believe I ov that late - I guess the ultrasound she's sent me for will clear that up though!) Got referred back to the hospital in Aug. The consultant said the risk of infection from an hsg outweighed the results, because I'd got pregnant so the next step was Clomid (though she should have waited another 6 months before giving it to me apparently). Am due to take my first one tomorrow, so any tips gratefully received!

I'm on the grapefruit juice and evening primrose oil as my cm wasn't the greatest.

Cam - I've been having acupuncture since my mc, though ironically am about to stop due to financial reasons. It sorted my cycles out (I used to spot quite a lot) but its actually quite nice just to lie down in a dark room for an hour a week!

xx

My darling ladies,

i am good today. I prayed for us yesterday and it helps.
Gemmaluisa i was thinking of acupuncture as i am all for trying more natural methods as i am sure all these drugs must have some side effect.
I was talking with my partner at the weekend and i asked him, if i can't give him children will he leave me? he told me to stop being stupid that he is with me whatever. I can't be down and depressed i think i have to be happy and not focus so much and enjoy my dp and what we have.
I think that is the way forward...
So i am going to be revising to do my therory test!! i have failed my driving test twice, maybe third time lucky!!!!

Even though i am not taking the clomid AF seems to be just 3 days?? i have only had one day of a flow and it is lighting up???
Hope my dp comes home soon i am going to get some saucey undies spice it up!!!!

GemmaLuisa · 14/09/2008 22:38

cam75,

I'm in your situation, my DH is fine, I think what everyone says is right about stress being part of stopping you from conceiving, I feel calm one minute, then weepy, then furious, I find boxercise is helping me hugely!! Also going to try acupuncture again this week, can't hurt. Lots of prayer from me too, been at church today myself, find it helps alot.

Is there anyone on here at moment who on here has clomid worked for? Any tips??

hi all

Hope your feeling brighter Cam as its horrible when you have a bad day on these tabs as im sure its like pmt x100. I have only had one really bad day when i just couldnt stop crying and felt at the end of my teather, next day i was fine ( bloody tablets ).
Nandos - my dh swimmers are lazy too and have got him on vits with extra zinc and selenium so he is going for another test to see if increased them.
I have never been scanned so hopefully they will organise one when we have clinic in oct just to see if there are any other probs. Im hoping they will suggest iui which ive heard they do when low/lazy sperm.

my love and luck to all

nandos · 14/09/2008 04:42

oh man, that is so complex gemma.. im sorry i cant really help u cos' i dont know what others took after clomid doesnt help..
hope somebody who knows, bumps..
as for me, have no problems except for dh's swimmers and he was prescribed some multi vit tablets and GP told me basically to come back again for blood test and my appt is next yr in march! as for clomid, i had to ask for it privately cos' i dont wanna wait like 7 months for the next appt. im not sure if i wanna take it though..is that crazy or what..
and dh has already started his vit regime so by the time im back, i'll think of whether to take it or not ..

GemmaLuisa · 13/09/2008 20:47

Hi Attila,

Thanks for the reply! No diagnosis, I had a scan back in January and they said they looked at my ovaries but I feel like I'm being fobbed off as they just gave me the clomid and told me to come back for a progesterone test on day 21, and come back in 6 months if I'm not pg. I was sent to hospital due to the clomid messing with my eyes and I've been told not to take it again and wait til my appointment in january! This is after 2 years of going to the doctor, being fobbed off for a year, then finally sent for all sorts of tests and seeing the consultant infertility gynae in July at the hospital. Thing is, I was allergic to the combined pill years ago and I was taken off it due to collapsing, and very high BP. I mentioned this to the doc, nurses and gynae and was told it was fine to take clomid, surprise, surprise, I was allergic to that too! Good idea to keep phoning the unit, worth a try.

Have also got AF, or early MC?? (first in 12 years!) yesterday (day 23?!?!). Is that normal to come on so early?

Anyway everyone, I'm really sorry to rant on, it's just so frustrating

What is everyone else doing if clomid doesn't work?

xxxx

AttilaTheMeerkat · 13/09/2008 10:36

Hi Gemma

Have you actually been given a diagnosis of the underlying problem?.

Are you on a hospital's subfertility unit's list; think it is appalling that your next scheduled appt is not until Jamuary. I would keep phoning this unit weekly to see if there are any cancellations - you may get seen quicker that way.

There is no real evidence to suggest that the pill is responsible for failure to ovulate. If anything the pill just masks symptoms of a hormonal problem (PCOS is a common culprit when it comes to irregular periods) that has always been present.

GemmaLuisa · 13/09/2008 07:59

hi again everyone on this frustrating mission!!

nandos, I'm sorry to hear about your mc, did the doc put you straight back on the clomid? Did you go privately in the end? I have heard if you pay for a consultation you can still get NHS treatment afterwards?

I'm back on the waiting list so I don't get another appointment til next january! Ridiculous! I have no idea what they'll give me next after clomid? Don't know if it'll be pills or injectables? I don't know if I'll be allergic to those too though, my body doesn't seem able to cope with hormones!

Baby dust to everyone xx

can't believe its been nearly 9 months since i took clomid and next month will be my 2nd time taking clomid after the mc cos' i'll be back in UK only in late Oct.
gemma, if u dont mind, what did your doc/GP prescribe you since u can't take clomid anymore due to the side effects?

anywayz i really hope everyone taking clomid will graduate soon..really do

love,
nandos

GemmaLuisa · 13/09/2008 00:10

Hi again,

Cam75, I'm sorry to hear about all you've been going through, and all the other guys, I can relate to some of your stories, having been on the pill for 10 years, trying not to conceive then ttc for the past 2 years and not being able to because the pill has messed my hormones up. I am so frustrated, on day 23 today and I can't take clomid again because it massively messed my eyesight up (only took 1 round of 50mg?!), was convinced I was pg because i was feeling sick, sore boobs and loads of milk ducts came up, sorry to be graphic, and then today out of nowhere I am having massive stomach cramps and heavy bleeding with clots, on day 23?!? Has anyone else got AF this early or could it be a really early MC? May be wishful thinking but I haven't ovulated in the past 12 years so I feel clueless.

Much Love MWah xxxxx

Moonlit · 12/09/2008 12:23

Cam the egg sharing scheme is a very personal thing. In the sense that not everyone would want to participate in such a scheme. I think the idea is that you need to produce a certain number of eggs with the fertility meds they give you, some are then used for your cycle and the others are donated to another lady who can't produce her own. I think that's the idea. But if you read at the end of the document, you can decide to keep all your eggs but will have to pay 1k (instead of 3k). So it's not a bad deal. But like I said it's every individuals own choice.

Like I said keep positive and rest for the next three weeks.

Good luck my darling. If you want to chat, I am always hovering about .

cam75 · 12/09/2008 12:08

moonlit,
the laparoscopy last year they were investigating endometriosis as a culprit? but never found anything.
I was thinking the same thing before? when i had my treatment at kings college i was under the consultant John Parsons and he mention clomid but did not follow through as he suspected that i was ovulating??? i would of thought he would of tried that before the ivf route.

I have heard about that clinic i would have to read up on it. When i see my consultant if nothing has happen with the clomid i will ask him about the IUI and the Ovary drilling.

When you say share eggs what does that do?

Moonlit · 12/09/2008 11:50

Thanks Cam75 thats very sweet of you

Ok I have read your post three times. First of all I am confused why they made you do IVF before trying other routes. For example the Clomid first, then Clomid with IUI AND then IVF.

Now did they do the laparoscopy because they were investigating endometriosis as a culprit? (the pain you suffered and were hospitalized made me think this).

I have discovered ovarian drilling is another method suggested to PCOS sufferers. But the only problem is, you MIGHT need to repeat the process each time you decide to have another baby.

I wouldn't give up on the Clomid yet. Sometimes it works on the last cycle. However, I think you should try clomid with IUI at least once on the NHS (privately it will be 700 pounds). Although this route is usually suggested if DP's sperm is lazy, but your DP has good sperm. But I wouldn't rule this method out. IT's cheaper than IVF.

Now onto IVF. Ok you can't have another cycle on the bloody NHS, because you had one on 2005. Now here is what I suggest. Have you heard of The Lister Clinic? My research has shown they are the best in London. Now they have a scheme. Where you can share your eggs and get IVF or ICSI for free or with part payment (no more than 1k per cycle) Depending on which method they suggest is best for your circumstances. A cycle usually costs 3k with this scheme you can get three cycles. I am sure there are other clinics to, you just have to search for them.

My friends sister has had a nightmare 10 years. She was diagnosed with, PCOS, endometriosis and other conditions, she has had every treatment under the sun. After her last IVF cycle she went to the US and had several cycles there. She is now expecting twins!

Never give up hope. Those who wait with patience are always rewarded!

I wouldn't worry about not being prescribed Metformin before. Metformin is known to work better with Clomid. I have been taking it since last October. I think it's exercise and low carb diet that has helped regulate my cycle and my weight. But I still keep taking Metformin because it must be helping in some way right?

Ok that's a massive post.
