***TAKING CLOMID FOR THE FIRST TIME - PART 2***

am on CD10 today OPK was still negative but clomid meant to work 5 days after last pill which is tomorrow and they did blood tests last month to check it working so not worried about that but DH getting fed up with my obvious planning what is a girl to do.??

Last month stuck to every other day, this month am going to try the sperm meets egg plan as seems to make sense.

Acupuncture on wednesday morning so trying everything possible

Any more ideas ??

Has the witch arrived or did you do another test.

sorry for not posting often been out alot these few weeks.
CD25 today and not feeling preg or anything and dont have a HPT for my itchy hand to test so wont be testing anytime soon
only symptom i have is sore nips and thats it..

Lauralou, I am so cheered up by your success story, I had begun to think that because I am overweight, it was never going to happen for me. I had to wait a year with no joy, then be referred to infertility clinic, undergo lots of blood tests, etc. Then, after about 15 months of no joy, they discovered I am not ovulating. I was given clomid, and am due to start taking it this weekend.

CB, the stupid BMI chart says I am obese. Nice! I hadn't realised they woun't give you IVF if you are over a certain BMI?

There is a lot I don't know it seems!!!

Lauralou - thats gone so quick im glad all is fine and your doing well. It defo makes me feel more positive about clomid when hearing real live success stories. well done.

According to the stupid BMI chart im boarder line overweight/obese and im 13 stone and 5'5. Now I know this is overweight but I carry it quite well considering. That BMI chart is so crap as im meant to be between 18-25 and i think im 32. If my BMI was 18 I would be anorexic so its a loada tosh. Problem is this is the chart they use to determine whether you get IVF or not wish is a big shame.
One of my friends has pcos and has already lost 2 stone and has just been told to lose another 2 before they will treat her on NHS.
She is devastated as she finds it so hard due to pcos.
Im still going through tests so dont know if anything is wrong yet as waiting for results of scan which I had yesterday. Im just waiting for them to say I have to lose weight.

i am reallly overweight as i said and my consultant said i wouldnt concieve unless i lost weight so we made a deal that if i see a dietition then he will give me clomid so off course i agreed my first month thay gave me provera to bring a period on then i started 50mg of clomid had my cd21 blood tests didnt ov then i had cd28 blood tests didnt ov again so they put it upto 100mg for my second month and they said they dont think it will work anyway i had my cd21 test for the second month and didnt ov then went for cd28 test and i did ov but only to 32.5 which is low the nurse said i should test in 5 days did the test and i was pregnant i couldnt believe it i called my consultant and told him he was wrong and i was right for 6 years i had been telling them i just need to release an egg but off course they think they no better lol...

my bmi is 39.5

did your doctor give you clomid straight away ?

i will join the club - PCOS and overweight (by quite a bit!)!! Was put on clomid ok but was told if i had to go down IVF route i would be expected to lose weight

I really hope this is not being rude Lauralou, I am overweight too, I was wondering if it's affected you in any way and what the doctors have said. Not sure I want to say exactly how much I am overweight by, but it's a lot.

and keep your hopes up clomid does work it worked for me on my 2nd round and i have pcos and am overweight i just no it will work for you as well

Hi all - well im on cd22 of my 2nd round of clomid. Had day 21 bloods yesterday but got wait a week for results. Am really hoping this could be my month but think may be getting hopes up.

Have been really tired last couple of days and had some funny feeling in tummy and boobs are starting to ache (think it different to af symptoms as more round nips than at sides - lol!!)

Trying not to get my hopes up tho as it is prob the OB being just round corner. Hating this 2ww it is awful symptom spotting all the time!!

My cycle on 1st round was 31 days so got a while before it worth testing i think and trying to hold off!!

Any one else in their 2ww??

I just wanted to say I have heard that acupuncture can be very effective when used for fertility purposes. I know a few people who have tried it.

Am now on cd5 and just one more clomid day to go (tomorrow) am having acupuncture in the morning as its meant to help (who knows).

Vics all i can say is give me a house full of those screaming kids any day.

Cam - i agree you and me both need that one little swimmer. Clomid, acupuncture and DH is on all sorts of vitamins. what more can a girl do.

Ladies, we must be potty, that or desperate. I dunno, all I keep thinking is that there will be a day in all our futures that we will look back on all this, while tearing our hair out because of our noisy kids, and laugh. (Although at the moment it seems a long way away!!)

It can make you feel really down and tearful and I have had moments when I feel im losing it which is unlike me. The next day is normally fine though so just bear with it and try and have a bath or do something happy and you will be fine. The tiredness doesnt help either as made me ratty.
Who would have thought a little tablet can do this to you.

yeah, face swoll up on one side, lucky enough it was on a sunday and wasn't in work or anything. it only lasted for the day, woke up on the monday fine. although it followed the worst day ever on sat. i'm not usually a down/sad person, but just felt like there was no purpose for me here at all. i don't know how many people it happens too, but i hear it can be a side effect.

CB: You will be fine, just imagine nasty period pain. It's a bit like that. But short lived.

clomid is a horrible thing to have to take, apart from not having the will to live for a day my face swelled up!

Yeah will defo take someone with me as am quite worried about that test, thanks for the advice and im glad its not as bad as in my head.
Blondie - I was always 28-29 days but am now 27-28 days so not much change for me but it should shorten your cycle if you are normally 35 days. I hope you are finding the clomid ok and good luck. Do you feel as if af is on her wicked way??

hi ladies, was wondering if you could help.

have taken 1st cycle of clomid and am now at d29. for the last 18mths cycles have been 35days at least. my doc says clomid should regulate and shorten my cycles. have any of you found this??

cycle 5 clomid time again the hot flushes and feeling tired all the time and it is only day 3. I have a bit of cramping but i am ok. The good news is that it is working for me i just need a swimmer to meet my lonley egg!!!!

C, I think it's the SALP test you are having. When dye is injected into the womb to highlight the ovaries and fallopian tubes and to show any blockages? If so, I have had that. It isn't fun, but any discomfort is over very quickly. It is very useful too. I had to have bloods on certain days too, all a bit stressy isn't it? But good news is, once these things are over they can see whats going on. That's how I found out I am not ovulating and ended up on Clomid.

Pain in the arse though it is, the tests are all quite useful. You do feel like a bit of a pin cushion though.

Take someone with you for the SALP, it's nice to have a hand to hold.

I have got to have a lap and dye ( cant remember proper name ) and heard its painful.Probably be next month now as not got app yet, just hoping this month ( my last one of clomid ) works.
Its all so confusing as gotta have bloods on certain days, scans, tests. My head is spinning.
Let me know how the sucking goes !!! lol

Thanks for your encouraging words C, my partner will be chuffed to hear about the mood swings bit . Can I ask what it is you are crapping yourself about as you've heard it's painful? I've had a few diagnostic tests and might be able to help there. I am having a scan on day 10, then an appointment with Dr straight after, so I guess maybe they'll do my bloods then? They seem pretty good at the clinic I go to.

I guess I'll just suck it and see as they say!

Thanks Pinkie im not too worried about the scan its the other thing im crapping myself about as heard its painful.
Vix I understand where your coming from as Im sure all of us on here were worried after we read the leaflet. I think they had to list everyting just in case but its quite rare to get any major side effects. I reacon the most common are hot flushes, headaches, tiredness, mood swings and cramping . I didnt get monitored either so was worried but now I have seen the specialist she could not believe I was left without monitoring. If I was you I would insist you get your bloods done on the 1st month ( at least ) to check your on the right mg. Apart from that Im sure you will be fine, they are not the greatest tabs to be on as can make you feel down but we are all here to support eachother as we all know how hard this journey is.
Let us know how you get on. By the way if you get any side effects they could be throughout the month not neccessarily for those 5 days ( so dont worry this is normal ). You never know you could be lucky and not get any
