I had my first period since dd was born 12 months ago on the 21st December and haven't had one sice then. I did a test nearly 2 weeks ago and it was negative but still no period! I'm still bf so I suppose that could be why but it seems a bit strange that I had one then no more. Has anyone had a fale negative or experience of bf/irregular periods?
TIA

Hi evergrounded. Sorry AF arrived, I know how hard it is, it took 18 months to get DS and I had a few months where i really thought we might have done it and then AF arrived. When we did conceive it was on holiday where we were so relaxed and just enjoying ourselves and not concentrating on trying. There are loads of different TTC threads (trying to conceive), and a lot of ladies who have been trying for months or years, so you will get a lot of support and have fun with them too. Really hope it happens for you soon.

spud01 · 10/06/2007 16:42

the June thread is good

tess01 · 10/06/2007 15:23

This is the july thread

ttc july - time to try again

tess01 · 10/06/2007 15:21

there was a thread specifically for first timers but doesnt seem as popular. I do no that they have just started a july thread off, it might feel less daunting to join a smaller group. Good luck

evergrounded · 10/06/2007 15:05

Have been trying to find a relevant thread, but not sure if I'm searching properly- is there a specific thread for people ttc for the first time?

tess01 · 10/06/2007 15:02

Sorry af arrived. Have you joined one of the threads on here, the other ladies will give you good support through the ups and downs. I also found this website good for pinpointing ovulation

www.fertilityfriend.com

Good Luck

I should add: am ttc for the first time, so quite new to this game!! Need some encouragement, as am starting to lose hope...

evergrounded · 10/06/2007 11:55

Morning. Am absolutely devastated. AF arrived this morning. 4 days late.

Am starting to get v. worried as we have been trying for about 6 months now, and making sure we pinpoint the most fertile days, but nothing is happening.....I am trying not to give up hope, and I know that it takes some people much longer, but I cant help feeling worried....

Egg · 09/06/2007 18:24

I was nearly TWO WEEKS late (for a 28 day cycle) when I finally got BP with DS. My cycle was on average about 30 days though so 1.5 weeks late is about right.

Fingers crossed for you!

mum03 · 09/06/2007 18:04

Evergrounded - Thought I would mention that my mum and my sister did not get positive tests till they were 3 and 4 months pregnant respectively - it does happen. I have been told that if I ever felt that I was pg and no af to go to gp for blood test - the hcg appears in your blood stream way before it appears in urine sample. I hope that you can come back with good news for us soon.

evergrounded · 09/06/2007 17:54

Egg- thanks that's actually really helpful.

did I understand correctly then that you didnt get your BFP until you were a week and a half late?

tess01 · 09/06/2007 17:43

egg - yeah it tallys im 6w3days due date 30th jan.

evergrounded - good luck i will be watching out for you on feb thread

Egg · 09/06/2007 15:58

Hi Tess and Evergrounded. Tess I am six weeks today which makes me due 2 Feb (so I am told...), the other ladies on our thread seem to tie in with this, ie, a few were six weeks yesterday and due 1 Feb. Tis all a bit confusing ! Congrats though!

Evergrounded, my AF was due on Saturday two weeks ago. From Friday I was getting AF type cramps, and they lasted about a week. I kept thinking I was about to get my period. I did the test on the Tuesday and got a BFP (woohoo). I still get the odd AF-type pain and don't like them, but my GP told me they are completely normal in the first few weeks of pregnancy. I remember last time I was getting later and later, still getting BFNs, still getting AF pains, kept thinking right, this is it, I am about to get AF and it never arrived.

Sorry, hope that makes sense .

evergrounded · 09/06/2007 14:53

Actually now you mention it Tess01 I am having little cramps that feel a bit like AF cramps but not as strong...that's why I keep thinking AF is about to arrive, or that if its not AF, it might be the sign of pregnancy. I know that some people have posted that they have just entirely missed a period, and that it didnt mean that they were PG, but surely if that was happening to me, I wouldnt be getting little cramps and sore boobs?
Thanks for the encouragement Egg- that would be so exciting if I could join your thread...dont want to get my hopes up though, as I have been proved wrong before!

congrats on your 6 weeks!!

tess01 · 09/06/2007 14:44

egg im 6weeks too but due end of jan

tess01 · 09/06/2007 14:38

yes i remember reading about the faulty batch too, cant remenber which ones either. theres still slim chance, if no af in 2 or 3 days do another test. one more thing i had what i thought was implantation cramps on the wednesday, tested neg on the saturday, tested mon got faint positive, tested tues got BFP, so deffo possible

Egg · 09/06/2007 14:33

DS1 is "Dear Son 1", ie your first son, and DS2 would be Dear Son 2, etc, DD being Dear Daughter, DH being Dear Husband, DP being Dear Partner etc etc. At the top of the page is an acronym list which tells you them all. There are lots. Some are not obvious. BFP is indeed a Big Fat Positive!

Really hope you get the BFP you are waiting for, then you can come and join us on the "Due in February" thread (I am six weeks pregnant today!!).

uberalice · 09/06/2007 14:32

Ah - here it is . I didn't dream it after all.

evergrounded · 09/06/2007 14:31

I'm pretty sure I ovulated around 23 / 24 May, as I did an ovulation strip test, and it indicated that this was when I ovulated. Which would mean that today I am 16dpo. Still a chance, you think?

uberalice · 09/06/2007 14:30

Sorry, I can't find it now. Did I dream it?

uberalice · 09/06/2007 14:28

I read something in the news this week about a batch of pg tests that were faulty and giving false negatives. Hang on, I'll look for a link ...

tess01 · 09/06/2007 14:25

Evergrounded, if it was implantation bleed most implant about 7-10days after conception, which could make you as little as 11dpo making it very possible to have a false neg. Some people dont get positives until they are 18dpo

evergrounded · 09/06/2007 14:23

Thanks Egg!
BTW can I just ask about some abbreviations:

what is DS1 and DS2?
and I'm guessing BFP is Big Fat Positive?
