Hello! I can't get on MSN to talk to you! Bought a Morrison's cheapie at lunchtime (1.99, wish I'd known before!) and couldn't resist so just POAS and got a BFP! It was really, really faint after three minutes but is much clearer now,

it is OK to get excited already isn't it!!!

Playingthe9monthwait · 21/07/2008 13:40

That good GYo - nice to see the MW and get it official.

I also am not thinking of my bean as a baby. I view this as proof I can get pg whatever happens (which in its own right is worth celebrating) and am taking each week as it comes. I spend far too much time on hear to not know who common mc is, I refuse to even think about this pg as a baby till my scan.

Playingthe9monthwait · 21/07/2008 13:37

I know, I can't lie. I can make excuses for not drinking but if someone actually asks "are you pg?" then not only do I not want to lie but it is really hard not to smile!

GYo · 21/07/2008 13:35

am relieved that some people have courtesy to not ask if they guess. its difficult to lie- think I would avoid answering Q if someone asked who wasnt close enough to know or likely to spread gossip.

Playingthe9monthwait · 21/07/2008 13:34

Oh and of course I wasn't testing early and my BFPs were all clear and quick.

Playingthe9monthwait · 21/07/2008 13:33

Oh and yes, I think quite a few people have guessed but are just too polite to ask.

Playingthe9monthwait · 21/07/2008 13:32

I told my sis the day I got my BFP. I had to tell someone and I really stressed I had just done a test so was really early and everything could go wrong yet blah blah blah.

Told my brother and parents BFP + 3 days. Decided I should tell my brother as he is living with us and wouldn't be easy to hide and as I was telling him I should tell my parents. Again, stressed how really early it was but basically said that if I mc I would want support so I would rather tell them now and let them share the joy even if there was a risk of having to admit a mc a few weeks later. Also told a couple of really close friends who knew we were ttcing that day.

BFP + 8 days. Friend guessed and asked outright, DH's smile gave the game away straight away; asked her to keep quiet.

Told my boss on BFP + 14 days. Basically feeling shitty and exhausted all the time and doing a shit job at work, so thought I ought to fess up. Really glad I did in the end.

BFP + 16 days. Another friend guessed.

BFP + 18 days. Told in laws, decided it was a bit mean for my family to know and not DH's. Again keep stressing how early it is.

Only a matter of time before word gets out and everyone knows now. Am planning not to actively tell anyone but not to lie of people ask.

GYo · 21/07/2008 13:31

I cant believe it- literally two mins ago got a call from the midwife (thought I'd have to wait til 8wks) she is coming tomorrow morning at 9am for the 1st appt.

Sorry- shocked at sudden efficiency of my doctors surgery.

Cosmogirl · 21/07/2008 13:25

My mother-in-law is a bit like that GYo - psychic tendancies Best avoid her for a while methinks!

GYo · 21/07/2008 13:25

Oh but I so want a glass of wine. Like I have never wanted one before.

Makes me sound like drunken lush. Never drank much but I always want what I cant have.....

GYo · 21/07/2008 13:23

Agree with you re the telling thing cosmo. Definately tricky. Maybe wait a bit till its sunk in? Im still getting used to the idea myself, despite being massively happy.

The drinking thing gives it away, there is only so many times I can be the one driving.

I reckon people guess but are too polite to mention it. Even my mother may have guessed when i had a decaff coffee when shopping on saturday. She always seems to know when women are pregnant, practically before the women do themselves!

lastboxoftampons · 21/07/2008 13:21

HeeBee My original due date was Sept 27 and was then moved back to 6 Oct.

Funny thing is, I didn't think it would happen quickly first time around - was completely shocked when it did. Just thought it'd be just as fast second time around. Silly me, I guess. I keep trying to tell myself that it's not been that long - only 4 months since the mc, and only our third month trying - but can't help but feeling a bit deflated.

Cosmogirl · 21/07/2008 13:20

Not sure whether to tell this early....Am visiting my sister this weekend and won't be drinking which will look odd, so not sure. But then I think if I tell someone first, it should prob be my Mum. It is really tricky to know what to do!

Cosmogirl · 21/07/2008 13:18

Playing - seems everywhere has a different 'procedure' so I might as well call next week. Like you, I just want to make sure it isn't a CP as period would be due this week, so should wait until I am officially late to be on the safe side. Have you told many people yet?

GYo · 21/07/2008 13:17

Good idea, the procedure seems different everywhere..

We have only told my DH's best friend, who he just went on holiday with. Since DH was ringing me all the time etc, we felt he should know. Its kind of nice because he seems so pleased but i know he wont hassle us with questions!

Want to tell sister but am a bit afraid of her being overly enthusiastic about the baby bit of it. I know thats the point of being PG but i am just getting through each wk/ month at the moment- focusing on pregnancy rather than baby. Hope that doesnt sound too odd.

Though if I start feeling ill, I will have to fess up to a few close friend or they will wonder whats up...

Do you plan to tell family?

Playingthe9monthwait · 21/07/2008 13:15

Cosmo. Got my BFP on the Thurs, had a weekend of testing every day (obviously simply to rule out CP ) and then rang the gps on the Mon. Told them I was pg but had no idea what to do next, the receptionist booked me into see the gp that day but also told me I could book straight in with the MW at the birthing centre next door as well. So I rang the birthing centre and booked an apt direct for 1 1/2 weeks time (was last Weds). Still went to see the gp who did offically refer me to the MW, even though I had actually already booked an apt. A bit wierd if you ask me. Anyhow, I'm really glad I went early. Fistly, its made it feel a bit more real and I got to ask all the questions that have been floating around in my head. Secondly, I now have the MW contact details so if I have any problems I have someone I can phone.

Cosmogirl · 21/07/2008 13:12

Thanks for info GYo - will wait until next week then and give them a call and see what the 'procedure' is around here. I know what you mean about feeling like there's no guidance. I am quite lucky that one of my best friends is a midwife, so I can ask about anything I might be worried about.
Have you and DH told parents or any friends yet?

GYo · 21/07/2008 13:09

Hi Cosmo

Defo recommend papercup, so much easier then you can be sure the stick has had the right amount of wee exposure (sorry for those eating lunch!)

I rang my doctors at 4wks + 4 and asked what I should do, which was leave my name on a list for the midwife to call me at 8wks. No need to see doctor apparently.

I only went today re concerns about some medication I was on but told to stop and re bleeding. So glad I did have reason to go. Otherwise, when you get BFP for 1st time its like nomansland and you get no guidance on what feels like the most important time....

Heebeejeebee · 21/07/2008 13:03

Hi there - mine was 30 Sept, so pretty much the same! Took me a while to get pg in the first place, but like you I was convinced it would happen quickly...

Still waiting for the letter from the hospital - I was hoping that the referral would ease the frustration a little, but it doesn't seem to be making much difference so far!

Onwards and upwards...

Cosmogirl · 21/07/2008 13:01

Popped home for lunch so thought I'd pop on quickly.

Tink/Playing - yep am feeling the paper cup idea, much more sensible . Will do that tomorrow morning first thing with the last FR.

Gyo - fab news about doctors being so proactive.

How soon did people contact drs after BFP. Four weeks seems a bit early to be calling them...

lastboxoftampons · 21/07/2008 12:39

Hi HeeBee Late Sept/early Oct was my due date, so I know just how you're feeling Was so sure I'd be pg by now - was pregnant on first try with the mc, so the fact that my cycle seems entirely screwed up now 4 months on is really making me and . I remember you were having tests done - any results yet?
