Hope it goes well telling your parents Kal!!

I think the only take-away we ever had was chips from the chippy as kids!! And that was only when we'd get home from a holiday so had no food in for tea, and we'd get a large chips and mum would butter lots of bread and we'd all sit around and eat chip butties!! I have very fond memories of that!!

Have just spent the last half hour fighting with the kids over what outfits they want to take!! so we compromised and put in their new outfit each from next (their 'special holiday clothes'), 2 outfits mummy likes and 2 outfits they like.... luckily DS is pretty good at co-ordinating so his 2 look good, and DD's were all paired up on hangers anyway so that was easy!!

I like them to wear their 'cutest' or 'funkiest' outfits, the ones i like best when we're going on a holiday... there's no point dressing them in their house scruffs or the grandparents will think we dress them in crappy clothes all the time!!.... well they probably wouldn't but i feel they would!!

Am finally almost packed- just gonna sort myself a 'checklist' to make sure i dont forget anything.

Actually had a MD on Sat as I fancied being bad. It was crap, not nearly as tasty as my brain thought it would be and left me with bad wind/ Won't be eating another one in a hurry!

Kalikaroo - hope you enjoy your holiday and goo dluck telling your parents!

Kalikaroo · 30/07/2008 15:02

Hi All, Thought I'd just pop in before we're off on holiday tomorrow.

Hope you're all fine. I'm ok, but starting with the MS a bit - not really spewing, but feeling sick. Also, everything tastes like earwax to me at the mo'.!!!

Wish me luck cos we're going to tell my parents about being pg on Friday!!!

NatalieJaneIsPregnantAgain · 30/07/2008 14:42

I have to say, I find nothing more boring than cooking, absolutely hate it, luckily DH likes it! I quite like doing buffet type things, or cold salads etc.

MD's were always a very highly regarded treat in our house growing up. Was literally a twice a year thing, if that! Though we did have a a few more chinese take aways in between, still not loads though, maybe once every couple of months.

Now we have MD's maybe once every 2/3 months (though that has been growing recently to maybe once every 4-6 weeks) and a chinese (for DH and I) every couple of weeks, we used to get it once a week on a saturday night, but got fed up of it TBH, once every couple of weeks seems like a fair compromise!

Hi guys scan is 7.40, so quite late which is great as it gives DH a chance to be there too. Only booked it on Monday!

Glask - far too hot to be baking cakes, much better buying one

I've never been to a maccy D's birthday party either, my parents never took me there as well.

glaskham · 30/07/2008 14:35

right I WILL go and get some packing done!!!!

glaskham · 30/07/2008 14:34

I've never even been to a maccy's birthday party!! My mum and dad were too healthy and we never ate take-away as a kid!! I never knew what take-aways tasted like till i was 16 and started working!!

glaskham · 30/07/2008 14:32

well I'm a dab hand at baking cakes (nowt like blowing my own trumpet!!), and DH and the kids love it when I'm in a baking mood as i'll happily bake a cake or 2 a day!!

I'm just feeling too tired, lazy and generally not in the mood for cooking... but i bought him a lovely thorntons toffee sponge cake!! it looks just lovely!!! I've hidden it in one of the kitchen drawers (no chance he'll look there!!)

NatalieJaneIsPregnantAgain · 30/07/2008 14:22

The old fashioned MD's party were great, Ronald McDonald gave me a balloon

OP posts:
NatalieJaneIsPregnantAgain · 30/07/2008 14:21

LOL Glask, I am buying one, I can't bake (or cook or make food of any kind) to save my life!

I am good at burning things though, t'is my most favorite-est past time

OP posts:
glaskham · 30/07/2008 14:20

We have a maccy's with a party bus here too which looks loads of fun!!

NatalieJaneIsPregnantAgain · 30/07/2008 14:19

OP posts:
glaskham · 30/07/2008 14:17

mmmmmmm double cheeseburger!!!

We're thinking about getting macdonalds breakfast or tesco cafe breakfast before we set off on friday (saves washing breakfast pots and cooking breakfast before leaving!!)

glaskham · 30/07/2008 14:14

oh and i caved and bought DH a cake for his birthday as i am sure i wouldn't fit it in today with all my MNing....i'm currently sat in my pc chair telling the DC's what to tidy so we have room to put the suitcase in the living room and bring everything in here and pack it all!!

calsworld · 30/07/2008 14:12

I started driving home for lunch, but the road was blocked with roadworks, so I took the first exit off to turn around to head back to work - and hey presto! McDonalds!

One double cheeseburger and fries later....zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

glaskham · 30/07/2008 14:11

NJ my DH is the same for pressies!! he has everything he wants as he makes a point of going and getting it before i spend all the money on payday each month.

Thats why we're doing something special on our london trip instead... he did want a tour round the emirates but i think we've decided to leave that till next year maybe so DS is a bit older and more interested with him.

Good luck for the scan tonight Playing too!!

calsworld · 30/07/2008 14:11

Playing, what time is your scan? I think I cried at my first scan, I was sooo relieved when we saw DS - I was beginning to think I'd imagined the pregnancy - then the MS really kicked in!!!

NatalieJaneIsPregnantAgain · 30/07/2008 14:05

LOL I expect she was very pleased you didn't throw up on her! What time is the scan?

Have got the party stuff sorted still just over £50 but thought it better than giving DH any kind of clue as to what we're planning by asking him to drop me off shopping!

Playingthe9monthwait · 30/07/2008 13:39

Hi Nat, I'm getting excited now and a bit nervous. Just seen the MW who took my bloods, so glad that over, really thought I was gonna throw up on her as they were running 30 mins late and the waiting room was so hot! Luckily I made it home first

NatalieJaneIsPregnantAgain · 30/07/2008 13:10

Awww Cal, hope you managed to get through lunch with out falling asleep in your sarnies The tierdness is the worst bit, even the sickness wouldn't be as bad if the tiredness would bugger off!

I'd not be surprised if your appointment is about an hour, they concentrate on taking more details of your last pregnancy/labour, as well as all the family history again. Having said that though, they allowed an hour and half for my booking in appintment this time and it only took about half an hour!

I have given up with the party planning on line, thought I'd be able to get some good deals, but after pricing some different 'themes' up they are all coming out at around £70 I'm only after cups, plates, banners, balloons crap stuff like that, will have to get DH to take me to somewhere over the weekend and leave me to it for a couple of hours, there is no way I am paying £70+ for paper crap that'll end up in the bin anyway!

I did however manage to order him one of those balloon bouquet things, another of DS1'S ideas, great big box, and when he opens it 5 big balloons will hit him on the conk I am going to book for us all to go on a stadium tour at BWFC's ground, DH is a big fan, I am pretty sure he has been and done it years ago (before we got together) but I think he will enjoy being able to show DS1 it all. But now have run out of ideas for proper pressies. Why are men so hard to buy for? It doesn't help that when he want's something he goes and buys it, so there is nothing he wants. Well except a luxery holiday somewhere for 6 months, but I'm not that rich nice

Good luck for the scan Playing - how exciting?

Hi Cal

I am seeing the MW and having a scan today too. She is taking all my bloods today as when I booked in she said it was too early. The scan is a private one this evening, I crumbled, just too damn impatient to wait another 3-4 weeks. Its not that pricey and this is my first dc so I thought what the hell, I'm not drinking at the moment so the money I normally spend on booze can go towards the scan. I really can't wait to find out how pg I am, according to the wheel I am 9 weeks today but I know that can't be right as I tend to have longer cycles and am fairly certain I didn't ov before CD18. I also just want to know my little bean is still alive really and make sure there's only one in there! I suppose there is also the irrational part of my brain that keeps telling me my last period was short and light so what if I am more pg then I think? I know thats not likely as we weren't actually ttcing then and we were relatively careful but still it would be nice to know for sure and stop my brain endlessly over analysing.

calsworld · 30/07/2008 10:18

Morning all, I'm absolutely shattered again today, soooooo need some extra sleep! I haven't got anything for lunch and our canteen is closed so think I'll go home for lunch, I'll have to try hard not to fall asleep.

I've booked my MW booking in appt, its on Mon 18th August and they've said to allow an hour. I'm sure it won't take that long when they realise I've already had one, but it would be nice if they did spend some time talking to me .

I'm looking forward to getting a scan booked so I can actually find out how far along I am - it would be nice to find out that I'm further along than I think I am but its doubtful. I was gutted first time round when they put DS' dates back by a week, kind of felt like I was 'doing' a week again, IYSWIM? This time around I understand more and that it was probably about late OV and all that, last time it was calculated on 28 days, OV on day 14 etc! Does anyone actually do that?

My boss has gone on holiday for 2.5 weeks and I'm really hoping that work will be a bit less stressful as a result, we get on well but she's very hectic and talks alot so looking forward to just being able to slog away and actually get some stuff done!

I'm rambling, sorry - NJ, are you sorted with those links or would you like more ideas?

C

Playingthe9monthwait · 30/07/2008 10:18

Morning all,

Been awol for a few days as work has been really busy and I have been feeling crap again. Not actually had the enthusiasm to MN . Have I missed anything? Whats everyone up to?

NatalieJaneIsPregnantAgain · 30/07/2008 09:35

Thanks Glask Have a good day

GYo, ups and downs are very very normal. DS1's pregnancy I was very much up, DS2's, I was very much up again until the end when everything started going wrong, this one I have been very much down! But, over the last week have had some crap going on with my mum, and it kind of showed me that I didn't have anything at all to be down about, and then like I said, this party planning has pulled me back up, am hoping it is here to stay, I don't do being down very well (incase you lot hadn't noticed!!!) The stuff with mum is pretty much over (as in, I give up!) so I'm not going to give in to it anymore!

I think TBH as well, although I was kind of dreading it, (in an 'OMG what am I going to do with him?' way) having DS1 home from school has really helped, I have to be up and ready to play all the time etc.

And now the physical side of feeling crap is on it's way out at last, that is helping loads as well
