hey talcy
am ok, y'know, just feeling a bit in limbo with all this...

i think my worry is that although have not had much bleeding, any bleeding can be bad- I read somewhere there's a 50% of ending in mc
so I don't think I have mc'd yet, am worried it might be another missed mc where the fetus has implanted but then is not viable. when I had this before I had light bleeding early on (though for several days both before and after my period was due)..then I htink it stopped...tested +ve then had an early scan but no heartbeat...then v. heavy bleeding couple of weeks later
i think that is the scenario I am sort of anticipating (as a worst case scenario of course) hence my caution and the worst thing is it takes a couple of months for your body to sort itself out

but I guess there's always hope-am just trying not to hope too much
pgwithnumber3 has almost convinced me to test again tomorrow, but am still not sure!

thanks to all of you for responding...babytime, fingers crossed for you
neolara-sorry to hear your story.hope things go better next time x

purlease · 17/07/2008 13:07

oh and I had bleeding for a few days - slightly lighter than normal period.

purlease · 17/07/2008 13:06

Catissleepy when I had my period a week after testing positive, I did another test as soon as I started bleeding. Test was negative.

Some of the experiences here sound quite positive so it may not be over but only a test will tell. Here's hoping the optimists are right. Fingers crossed for you.

babytime · 17/07/2008 13:04

Thanks neolara!

Your post kind of confirms my chemical pregnancy in April.

I have two children and been on mumsnet with different names since October 2002 and I have never heard of chemical pregnancies since recently.

You just keep learning on mumsnet!

babytime · 17/07/2008 13:02

Well if it was a mc you would think you would bleed more than for a couple of hours? But then I dont know enough about these things. I had a chemical pregnancy in April, faint pos the day I was due but start bleeding that day. I had a light period but it still lasted for a good few days and I felt absolutely shattered!

The fact you feel normal but a bit bloated looks good. Wishing you lots of luck.

Are you going to test after the weekend then? How can you hold off that long?

You're strong!

neolara · 17/07/2008 12:59

I am going through the same experience this week.

Last week I got two faint positives, followed by negatives and started to bleed. I'm sure I am no longer pregnant. However, the bleeding was much lighter than my normal period (two days of light bleeding followed by three days of spotting). I did a google search about bleeding in chemical pregnancies because I thought this was a bit odd. I had assumed the bleeding would be normal or heavier than normal. I found someone who quoted some research that bleeding after chemical pregnancies can often be lighter than normal.

Catisleepy and babytime, I hope you are both still pregnant, but if you are not, light bleeding does not seem to necessarily be a problem or an indication that anything is wrong.

CatIsSleepy · 17/07/2008 12:53

hey babytime
I had a little spotting last week, tues-thurs, thought that meant my period was due (timing was right) but then it stopped completely
held out til this tuesday to test
bleed happened shortly after, but didn't last more than a couple of hours
nothing at all now

but don't have any pg symptoms yet-except feel a bit bloated but that could be anything!
have been trying to remember how I felt when pg wth dd-think I didn't get any nausea or sore boobs til a bit later

good luck with your test tomorrow

yes round about march
have just started taking folic acid so am not a complete pessimist obviously....but perhaps hedging my bets

will probably say something to my friends
am feeling suprisingly ok about the whole thing actually after being quite upset tues morning
but think if it's going to go wrong I would rather it went wrong quickly IYKWIM

Catisleepy

I am going throught almost the same as you.

My period started a day after it was due. I am normally on for 7 days, 5 days heavy and have to wear big night pads during the night. This time I only bled a little during one night and for five days it was so light and at times totally stopped that I thought it was finished but woulld bleed a bit later that day.

It totally finished yesterday and I am stil FEELING pregnant so bought a test and will use it with FMU tomorrow morning so we'll see.

I decided to do this because today I had some clear discharge this morning and I keep feeling dizzy and queasy.

I did test the day I was due and during the middle of one day and got an evaporation line on both. They did not stay.

I have heard of people not getting positives until 5/6 weeks or more so I am probably holding onto wishes here but you never know.

Have you still got your period, is it lighter than normal? How do you feel? Will you test soon?

Questions questions

pgwithnumber3 · 17/07/2008 12:20

It would make me more keen, will you tell them what has happened this week? A friendly shoulder is always good.

I am 11 weeks so that would make you due mid March?

CatIsSleepy · 17/07/2008 12:15

5 weeks today

am spending this weekend with one friend who is pregnant and one friend who is TTC
am not sure if that makes me more or less keen to test tomorrow!

OP posts:
pgwithnumber3 · 17/07/2008 12:10

Oh I am a natural pessimist where my affairs are concerned but am always optimistic for other people!

Yes, test tomorrow, if you are still pregnant (and make sure it is the first wee in the morning) then the line should come up quite strong.

How many weeks do you think you "are"?

CatIsSleepy · 17/07/2008 11:20

no, periods are usually 7 days at least!

am a natural pessimist I think
ok might test tomorrow-will see
will let you know

OP posts:
pgwithnumber3 · 17/07/2008 11:02

I bled for days, like a normal heavy period after chemical pregnancy. I am sure you are still pregnant, do you usually only have 1 day periods?

If you can afford to buy an extra test, I would go for it! It might put your mind a bit more at rest either way.

Good luck.

orangehead · 17/07/2008 10:17

Cat with two of my preg I had like mini peroids the day I was due on. The 2nd time that when I knew I was preg after my 'period' stopped after 1 day. Hope all ok

CatIsSleepy · 17/07/2008 10:13

ah thank you pgwithnumber3

have had no more bleeding since tuesday

but keep thinking about the missed mc I had before dd and all the things that could go wrong

aaargh

am undecided about test-want to be really sure that I can believe the result if it's still positive
might wait til Monday
though am going away this weekend, would be good to know before then...

OP posts:
pgwithnumber3 · 16/07/2008 20:08

I tested 3 days after having BFP and the line had all but diminished. If it is a chemical pregnancy that is how fast your HCG levels drop. You could probably test on Friday, see if it has got any darker. If you still are unsure, make an appointment with your GP and ask for them to do blood test for HCG level.

I really hope you are still pg.

CatIsSleepy · 16/07/2008 09:37

that's what I was thinking Puss, in a week or so...
am feeling rather cautious about the whole thing now

OP posts:
PussinJimmyChoos · 16/07/2008 09:27

You need to re-test in a few days and see if t he line gets fainter etc....only way to tell really imo

CatIsSleepy · 16/07/2008 09:23

well
bleeding slowed right down and had stopped altogether by last night
no more bleeding so far today

so it might still be ok......??

OP posts:
pgwithnumber3 · 15/07/2008 11:10

Good luck and let us know the outcome.

CatIsSleepy · 15/07/2008 11:07

thanks all

I will see how it goes with the bleeding over the next few days
I think in my heart I know it's over...and that purlease and queeny are right about the chemical pregnancy

but who knows-interesting what you describe mummypud, and must have been quite stressful I imagine...and your friend too pgwithnumber3

hmm we'll see
thanks again

hi i just thought i would add something.
i have had this twice before. only time will tell as it sounds like a chemical pregnancy (where the egg doesnt implant properly and the only eveidence of pregnancy is gthe positive hpt result. ) im sorry if this is happening to you and i really hope the other ladies are right and its implantation bleeding. i would make an appointment at your GP or local EPU to confirm it or at least have it on their radar if the pregnancy does continue. be aware that many GPs have no idea about conception issues so it might be worth insisting on a referral to the EPU if you see the gp first. waiting for gp test results takes ages aswell so EPU would be be a faster option aswell. i reall hope you get a good outcome xx good luck
