When I was preg with DS I knew within about 5 seconds that I was pregnant...never had that feeling before and was very bizarre.

What's the earliest you felt different?

maybe I am just broody and its wishfull thinking

jam3 · 12/09/2005 09:00

thanks xxx

desperatehousewife · 12/09/2005 08:51

oh god Jam3 - we've all done it! I've thought a few times that I was, and could have laid money on it - but got disappointed and felt so silly. Don't feel silly. We all know our own bodies really well and sometimes they play tricks on us, or we just misjudge occasionally.

its weird cos I feel like i do "know" but then what an idiot I will feel if I test and am not....xx

desperatehousewife · 12/09/2005 08:44

jam3 - lots of women 'just know'. good luck, let us know how you get on!

with ds i had no clue even had periods etc, with this baby I knew within 3 days of conception which was bizarre...then it was confirmed 9 days after ovulation.

been having period like feelings (not due for nearly 2 weeks) and just like something is going on in there but only done it twice during ovulation and really want to have no.2 but darent get too excited....oh the waiting!!! Gonna do one of those ebay early tests trying to keep it real and i nmy head am saying I am probably not so wont be dissapointed but I cant believe I feel like i really might be so early...can it be psychological...probably!

tex111 · 10/02/2005 15:52

Tessiebear, I wish! We're still trying. Fingers crossed it happens soon and the next one is a keeper.

desperatehousewife · 08/02/2005 21:38

This has been a really interesting thread - thanks everyone who has shared their stories - it is strange isn't it how some people just 'know' and feel 'different' in some way...

OP posts:
Tessiebear · 08/02/2005 19:24

Tex111 - are you pg????

tex111 · 08/02/2005 19:09

I got a positive with a First Response test 9 days past ovulation, about 6 days before my period was due. There's also a super-sensitive test you can buy at www.medisave.com that can get a result as early as 7dpo (days past ovulation), though the earliest I got with it was still 9dpo.

ernest · 08/02/2005 08:22

some tests can be used 10 days post ovulation, but the general rule of thumb is to wait 14 days post ovulation

canthisberight · 07/02/2005 22:10

Sorry - just seen earlier posts on this. Would still be interested to hear the definitive view, if there is one.

canthisberight · 07/02/2005 22:09

when is the earliest you can (sensibly!) test to see if you are pregnant?

leglebegle · 07/02/2005 22:09

sorry, DH, just seen this! It was Clear blue. I have 2 friend who also tested early and one had a thin blue line like me and the other got no line but was ultimately pregnant. Perhaps different people produce more of the pregnancy hormone than others? Good luck though.

desperatehousewife · 07/02/2005 21:51

Blimey - that's an early show up isn't it? Thought you could only do it 3 days before. Oh well, will try later this week.

Leglebegle - that is such a difficult name to type! are you there?

OP posts:
desperatehousewife · 06/02/2005 19:31

leglebegle - what test did you use that showed up result so quickly!??

Am feeling all the symptoms again - but convinced that it's really all in my mind. Must wait until next weekend til AF due.

The wait is just intolerable!! Keeping fingers crossed for a +

With my daughter I felt implantation & thought my period was coming, next night at a party I kept having drinks bought for me then somehow not drinking them. Not on purpose of course that would be a complete sin, but I noticed everyone else seemed to be drinking much faster than me & when I totted it all up I'd had 1/2 bacardi breezer all night! Four days later I tested on the day on my period, but I knew I was pg before the BFP. I felt absolutely "centred & calm" if that makes sense. That feeling like everything was in it's place.
With Ds, sex was planned with military precision to conceive a boy so when I felt ovulation on the afternoon of having morning sex I knew I was pg, again all that day I had a very weird, all is well with the feeling that I have never ever had.
Just my twopenneth.

emmatmg · 06/02/2005 09:02

I understand completely moomin.

We weren't TTC with Ds3, well Dh was but I didn't know he'd changed his mind until afew days later. We fell PG on that one and only attempt, I'm sure he's gutted about missing out on loads of sex

So as far as I was aware we were just "doing the deed" for fun but I still knew the next day.

Good luck to you for TTC BTW

Moomin · 06/02/2005 08:49

i wonder if there's a connection with 'feeling' you are pg straight away and not having ttc for a long time. i just find it quite interesting because if you look on the ttc boards, esp with those who have been trying for quite a while, lots of them/us have so-called symptoms in their two-week-wait, that actually turn out not to be symptoms because their period arrives.

i wonder if that's because when you are ttc you are minutely aware of every single twinge and ache and feeling you have and you 'read' a pg into it. if you're not ttc as such, maybe the pg symptoms/feelings stand out like a sore thumb because you're not looking for them.

sorry if this seems a fuzzy jumble - can't get my words to work properly this morning. does anyone know what i'm getting at?

bathmummy · 06/02/2005 08:48

again knew straight away both times but still didn?t stop we wondering and worrying until it was test time. Really need to learn to trust intuition.

emmatmg · 06/02/2005 07:29

Ds1 was when I did the test. BFP first time

Ds2 was a BFN on the first test and I was shocked, didn't feel any different but was amazed that I wasn't PG. Did another one the next day and got a BFP.

Ds3 when I got the morning after the night before. I was standing in the kitchen making a cup of tea and I can remember vividly the feeling of absolute, complete and utter joy of "OMG I'm pregnant". I'd been feeling desparately broody for about 15 month and never in a million years thought I'd be able to change DH's mind to agree with me. Ds3 is 16 months now and I'm still amazed that I changed Dh's mind.

I wonder if Dh will ever agree to no.4?........
